Full textIn this thesis, I focus on the dynamics of cybersexism and the digital practices of adolescents, with a particular emphasis on the social network TikTok. My goal is to provide a detailed analysis of the issues, contradictions, and continuities that exist between real spaces, such as the school environment, and virtual spaces. I aim to understand how young people present themselves, express themselves, and perform online, through the lens of gender. This research seeks to show how, within these environments, adolescents navigate between adhering to and transgressing gender norms while striving to maintain or negotiate their social status. To capture this complexity, I adopted a mixed methodology: an ethnographic study within a middle school classified as REP+ and a netnography on TikTok. This dual approach allows me to capture the richness of social interactions and digital practices influenced by gender dynamics. I also conducted interviews with professionals in the National Education system to understand how they perceive the digital relationship between themselves and their students. This provides valuable insights for understanding and supporting young people in their digital practices, while also considering the reservations of these professionals. The results show how cybersexism contributes to the maintenance of a gendered order online, an order that is often co-constructed by the young people themselves. On TikTok, adolescents follow gendered social norms to be accepted, while simultaneously developing complex strategies to maintain their social standing. These strategies represent both forms of resistance and submission to social expectations. The social network thus becomes a space where norms are both reproduced and challenged. In discussions with National Education professionals, I observed a marked reluctance to engage with social networks. These spaces are often seen as dangerous or disruptive to learning. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has altered these perceptions: some teachers began using these tools to maintain an online pedagogical relationship with their students. This shift raises an important question: how can professionals better understand and support "digital natives" in their online identity construction while overcoming their often-negative perceptions of these spaces?

The present study has as main purpose analyze ethnographically the experiences of offender adolescents’ tribes who were part of socio-educational programs in São Carlos – SP, during the years of 2006 and 2007. As theoretical methodological reference it was used the writer Michel Maffesoli who was chosen due to his social anthropological view that points out the end of the individualism on post modern society being substituted by the tribalism, the experience of living in group. Living in times of tribes our attention was focused on NAI (an integrated service program) and on Semi Liberty program, both implemented according to ECA – Statute of the Child and Adolescent – as part of educational programs realized in São Carlos during the period that this study was accomplished. Those institutions were chosen due to their singular way of treating the adolescents, recognizing them as citizens who have rights and obligations. By searching the culture of offender adolescents, it is possible to notice an interface with their daily life, culture and educational process. This research is significant considering new demands of education and the necessity of giving a special attention to those adolescents who are marginalized. It shows they can be now anguished and in the next moment enchanted by life and those unstable behaviors are reflected sometimes by social violence and sometimes by a sincere solidarity with their group.

Full textIntroduction: High amounts of fat, cholesterol, refined sugar, and low amounts of fat acid and fibers present in the diets of adolescents is results in high rates of obesity, chronic non-communicable diseases, and death in adults. Objective: Evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the daily eating habits of adolescent males and females from a São Paulo city state school. Methods: Students between the ages of 14 years and 18 years 11 months old in four different times in a six month period were evaluated. The students logged their food intake over a 24 hour period and the data was processed by the Virtual Nutri software. The statistical analysis (Kolmogorov-Smirnow, T Student test for two repeated samples, Wilcoxon Signed Tank Test, and McNemar) was made by SPSS 11.0. Results: For every day of the test, fat accounted for more than 30% of the caloric intake. The fiber intake showed a tendency to improve on week days when compared with weekends, as did the intake of unsaturated fats. The food most frequently consumed was rice. Snacks were consumed mostly on the holiday, and during holidays the students frequently skipped breakfast. Conclusions: This study of the eating habits of adolescents can help shape the public policies of health, nutrition, and diet for specific groups and interventions.

Bottan, Gabriela.
Full textAggressive behavior manifested in the form of bullying has become a pressing problem in Brazilian schools, with approximately one third of students involved as bullies or victims. Violence in general, including in the school environment, has multiple causes and, precisely because of that, is difficult to control. Interventions aimed at preventing and reducing school bullying are still scarce in Brazil. The present study aimed to assess the results of a brief antibullying intervention for public school adolescents and to investigate the association between types of bullying and demographic, temperamental, and mental health characteristics of students. This quasi-experiment included fifth - to ninth - grade students from four public schools (two intervention schools and two control schools), of both sexes, aged 12 to 17 years. The brief intervention applied throughout the school (called whole-school intervention) refers to an educational approach to raising awareness of bullying among students and teachers. Bullying was assessed using the Bully / Victim Questionnaire. The instruments used to assess temperamental and mental health characteristics were the Affective Reactivity Index – Brazilian child version (ARI-C) and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire – Brazilian child version (SDQ-C), respectively. They were administered during classes and with parents' consent, before and after the intervention. At control schools, tests were administered using the same time interval The study was approved by the Ethics Committees of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and Porto Alegre Health Department (certificate no. 19651113.5.3001.5347). A total of 1,043 students were included, of whom 526 (50.4%) were females, and mean age was 12.5 (SD = 1.62) years. We found that 146 (14%) students played the role of bullies, 163 (15.6%) of victims, and 339 (32.5%) of bullies/victims. There was a significant association between being a victim (B = 0.26) and being a bully (B = 0.28) with a more irritable temperament. Being a bully with behavior problems (B = 0.30) was significantly associated with being a victim with relationship problems (B = 0.52), according to the SDQ-C. Schools were randomized, and 613 (58.8%) students were assigned to the intervention group and 430 (41.2%) to the control group. There was no significant difference in bullying scores considering time*intervention interaction. Significant associations between being a victim and being a bully with a more irritable temperament, behavior problems, and relationship problems were maintained in both groups after the intervention. The results of the present study show that brief, student-only interventions may be useful as an educational strategy, but they do not effectively change involvement in bullying at school. Further studies with long-term interventions focused on all people involved, including parents and teachers, are still needed to assess changes in behavior related to school bullying.

This essay object is to ponder over the sheltered housing for adolescents in São Paulo city based on psychoanalytic theory references. To institutionalize adolescents has been a common and repeated practice since Brazil was a colony. During our history that kind of attendance was changed many times because of new laws and public policies. The teenagers that live in that kind of housing come from the poorest part of population in our society. Nowadays, there is a significant number of shelters which aim to attend this part of the population, and a great number of sheltered children as well. This essay aim to listen to individuals who live or have lived under those conditions during their adolescences. What they say, based on psychoanalytic theory, will enable us to understand how they felt the experience, which links they built up, whit consequences were brought to their subjective perception and how their personal growth was affected. Having analyzed that material we could reflect on the way sheltered-housing works and its importance in our society

Full textThis research aimed to investigate aspects of the vulnerability to Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) among female adolescents in detention in Ceará. It is a mixed study with sequential explanatory drawing. Data collection occurred between August and November of 2016 with 26 adolescents. The questionnaire approached sociodemographic, behavioral and gynecological-obstetric questions. The quantitative data were presented in tables and complemented with the testimonies obtained in the qualitative phase. For the interview were selected six adolescents who had started the sexual life and participated in the first stage. The majority of the adolescents came from the city of Fortaleza, were between 15 and 18 years old and reported having gotten pregnant at least once. Of the seven who became pregnant, all had committed at least one abortion. The most frequent types of offenses committed were robbery (61.5%), homicide (19.2%), trafficking and robbery (7.7%), trafficking and theft (3.8%). All reported having an active sexual life, starting between 11 and 16 years (average 13 years). Of these, 20 (76.9%) started with ages between 11 and 13 years. Fifteen (57.7%) homosexuals were declared heterosexual, five (19.2%) and six (23.1%) bisexual. Considering the number of sexual partners in life, almost all of the girls, 25 (96.2%) had had more than one partner. They reported making use of alcohol and illicit drugs 14 (53.8%) and 23 (88.5%) respectively. These findings indicate that girls living in situations of deprivation of liberty are in a situation of high vulnerability to STIs, so there is a need for effective measures in the control and prevention of STIs.
