Abstract:
Abstract:
Adolescent depression is highly prevalent, associated with negative effects and likely to recur, this provides a cogent argument for finding sustainable, cost-effective, developmentally appropriate approaches to preventing depression. Although there is good evidence to support efficacy, there is no evidence of the effectiveness of programs preventing adolescent depression. Thus the primary aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness of a universal, school-based, adolescent depression prevention program when implemented by teachers and local mental health professionals. Participants were 1003 secondary school students drawn from three pairs of matched Year 9 cohorts. The three pairs were assigned to either: (a) Resourceful Adolescent Program (RAP), an 11-session school-based resilience program delivered as part of the school curriculum (n = 522) or (b) a comparison condition (n = 481). All students completed measures of depressive symptoms and hopelessness at pre-intervention, post-intervention and 6-month follow-up. The intervention group completed quantitative and qualitative evaluations of perceived program benefit. Small program effects on depressive symptoms for the RAP group were evident for the whole group at post-intervention (ES = 0.30) and for girls only at follow-up (ES = 0.35). However, both boys' and girls' self-reports indicated very positive overall benefits from the RAP intervention. Teachers were not less effective as group leaders than mental health professionals in terms of outcomes on depression measures, perceived program benefits or acceptability to students. Public health implications of this population-based approach are discussed in the light of small effects, high recruitment rates and potential use of sustainable school resources.

Teachers were not less effective as group leaders than mental health professionals in terms of outcomes on depression measures, perceived program benefits or acceptability to students. Public health implications of this population-based approach are discussed in the light of small effects, high recruitment rates and potential use of sustainable school resources.

Abstract:
In the French West Indies, early pregnancies occur in significant proportions, statistically compared to other areas in mainland France. These births mainly take place in low-income families and their number has been steady over time.In the Creole society, some cultural elements lead to teen pregnancies. Therefore, this research delves into the relationship between cultural habits and the appearance of early pregnancies in one of the mother-centered family structures in the Caribbean society, named matrifocal. In that kind of family structure focused on motherhood, the mother's function is the female identity.Early motherhood is then an acceptable process of entering adulthood and to keep the homeostasis of the matrifocal system. In order to understand the process, the research has used the sociology of the family and the concepts of culture, teenage, adulthood, teenage sexuality or education. The study was conducted in the French department of Guadeloupe. After reviewing the role, status and function of motherhood in the Guadeloupean society, the results of this research are presented from the following methodology implementation: the data collection as regards young mothers, or about to become mothers, was made thanks to the life history method receiving structural analysis, completed with actancial diagrams. In middle and high schools, young people were interviewed; some were probed by questionnaire, in order to know their representation of the access to adulthood and their opinions on early pregnancy.Interviews were held with families and professionals in order to comprehend their approach. The data analysis revealed that some girls wanted to have a child and have taken steps to fulfil this desire.Other girls got pregnant during their personal history and decided to carry it out to term, even if other options could have been considered.Interviews with the families and professionals revealed that the resistance expressed by the families when they were announced the pregnancy, gradually gave way because of the importance given to children in the Guadeloupean society. Moreover, family solidarity contributes to relieving the burden of education

The adolescent girls, by sharing knowledge with other individuals who have similar reality, have the capacity to conceive a practical knowledge about the maternity, and are able to reproduce and build representations concerning the meaning of being mother. This study aimed at understanding the meaning of maternity to adolescent mothers in the light of the Social Representations Theory. A qualitative, descriptive research, leaning in the theoretical resources of the Social Representations Theory was accomplished. It has been accomplished in the Nursing Service of the Academical Hospital Dr. Miguel Riet Corrêa Jr. in the city of Rio Grande, state of Rio Grande do Sul. The participants of the study were ten adolescent mothers with aged between 15 and 19 years old who gave birth to their children in this hospital between September of 2008 and January of 2009. The collection of data happened in May of 2009 through the technique of semi-structured interview. The data analysis was developed under the precepts of textual analysis. The accomplishment of the research happened after the authorization of the Committee of Ethic in Health Research under the written opinion number 72/2009 and all of the ethical precepts that guide researches with the human beings have been followed. Starting from the data analysis, four categories have been obtained: reactions and feelings regarding the pregnancy diagnosis; the meaning of maternity to the adolescent mother; the life of the adolescent mother after the baby's birth and the adolescent mother's expectations for the future. In face of the pregnancy diagnosis, the adolescent mothers expressed various reactions and feelings that changed in the course of the gestation and after the baby's birth. The meaning of maternity to the adolescent mothers was noticed to be different before and after the baby's birth. Before the child's birth, this meaning was reported from the adolescent's expectations and from representations that had been built in her social context. After the child's birth, this meaning was manifested by the realization of their experiences as mothers. The child's birth imposes deep transformations in the adolescent mother's life process which include positive and negative meanings originated from a transition period between being adolescent and being mother. As negative aspects it has been possible to notice representations of pregnancy in the adolescence as an intra-family conflict-maker event, of the childbirth as an event anchored in the idea of pain, and of the adolescent as an immature individual to play the maternal role. Regarding the positive aspects which emerged from this study, the improvement of the family and social interpersonal relationships and the maturing which resulted from assuming the responsibility for the child's care should be mentioned. It has been concluded, therefore, that the professionals of health/nursing need to act and put in practice the health policies which are specific for adolescents, assuring access to the health services, education in health, and to the contraceptive methods.

Abstract:
AThe use of violent acts is studied mainly in male adolescents, while the suffering of girls is discussed in terms of hurting their own body, through singular psychopathological symptoms (eating disorders, attacks to the body, scarification ...). This research considers the place and role of being female in the use of violent acts by teenage offenders, with a corresponding number of questions about the meaning of these violent acts, as an expression of a possible change in the present symptomatology of adolescence. The question of specificity of violence from young girls, especially during the adolescent process, particularly the process undermining the concepts of normal and pathological will be asked, as well as the relationship between trauma, femininity, and use of violent acts. The theoretical reference is the psychoanalytic psychopathology in both aspects, intrapsychic and intersubjective, taking into account the tie between the psychic architecture of the subject and the meeting with socius. The methodology is based on a clinical approach, based on interviews and the placing of projective tests, with adolescents who have committed illegal violent acts. This research highlights the variety of psychic functioning in which meet the violent act, the balance of identifications in access to a calm femininity, tempering the impact of trauma and the importance of the sociocultural context in which these violent acts are deployed

Abstract:
Book Summary: More is known about the behavior, anatomy, and molecular biology of the laboratory rat than any other animal species. Although its natural history and psychological functions have been described previously in books, this is the first comprehensive description of its behavior. Both seasoned and beginning investigators will be amazed at the range and complexity of the species as described in the 43 chapters of this volume. The behavioral descriptions are closely tied to the laboratory methods from which they were derived, thus allowing investigators to correlate the behavior and methods and exploit them in their own research. This book is aimed at investigators in neuroscience who may not be familiar with rat behavior, but who wish to incorporate behavioral studies into their own research. Nevertheless, seasoned investigators will also find the book to be a handy reference for behavioral paradigms with which they may not be familiar. It is expected that as the genetic and molecular understanding of the rat develops, there will be an increasing need for knowledge about rat behavior. This book will serve as an indispensable resource for neuroscientists, psychologists, pharmacologists, geneticists, molecular biologists, zoologists, and their students and trainees.

This research is an study about adolescents applied for Legião Mirim Project in Assis city - SP, introduced by a philanthropic entity which brings, as its mainly purpose, to guide financial underprivileged young people to find their first job. Our goals are, basically, to understand what such individuals think about the adolescence, about the perspectives related to their future and who the values detached for them. The reasons, which led us to propose this investigation, are connected to the fact, as a psychologist, we had developed activities with some adolescents that are involved on that “Project”. It’s about a qualitative research, of which we made use of halfstructured interviews with 06 students from both sexes, between 14 and 18 years old, with financial problems, independently their educational levels and with many different beliefs. As a theoretical and methodological reference, we have used author with psychoanalysis orientation, like Freud, Birman, Calligaris, Costa, Figueiredo, Herrmann, Mezan, Outeiral, and others. Some data from the interviews were analyzed in sense to realize the speech meanings from the studied individuals. We conclude that adolescents understand the adolescence years as a transition step between to be a child and to be an adult, when they solicit time and support from the adults on that period. The Project is important in their lives because, more than offer a job opportunity to the most careless, young people have found a place to have courses, to acquire new knowledge and new ways of affective relations. They’ve shown values like study, family relation, friendship, justice, honesty and concern about the future of society. Most adolescents see the future connect directly to study, to an occupation

Abstract:
This crossectional study aimed to investigate adolescents' knowledge, of different contexts, on their own rights. 101 adolescents, aged from 12 to 17 years old (M=14,18; SD=1,09), 68,3% female and 31,7% male were grouped by context: G1 - adolescents who live with their families and attend public schools (45,5%), G2 - those who live with their families and attende private school (32,7%) and G3 - those who live in shelters (21,8%). A biosociodemographic and knowledge of rights questionnaires and to a self report on adolescents' rights were administered. There was difference among the contexts regarding certain rights investigated. More not respected rights were found among no-white participants and those whose parents presented lower education level, result that emphasizes the historical legacy of present ethnic-racial exclusion in Brazil. The results revealed statistically significant sex, age, socioeconomic status, group and family links differences what refers to the knowledge of rights. The knownest rights were: inclusion, participation, expression, education, leisure and protection against the violence and the work. The less known rights were: respect, adult's differentiated treatment when in conflict with the law, the protection against the domestic work, the freedom of reunion/association and concerning searching for orientation. Results indicate that the macrossistem and the microssistem are associated with the adolescents' perception of their own rights. The results highlight the need for interventions, emphasizing values, recognition of rights and duties of the child-juvenile population.

Abstract:
Adulthood, once defined as a goal, today, has increasingly blurred outlines. While many speak of "adultescenza" (adult-adolescent) to describe the situation of those who interpret their adulthood in adolescent terms, today, we have, in one way, less certainty, in another way, more possibilities. For example, social sciences assign adolescents the task of choosing, where reality confirms that the choices taken in adolescence are not "for life," but circumstantial. Adolescents, rather, discover; adults rediscover. Thus, in adulthood, a detachment from the family of origin can take place which in adolescence was thought inconceivable: freedom, autonomy and responsibility can finally be considered adult goals, because the family of origin sometimes still has to-be-thought-of.

Abstract:
Adolescence is the process of growth and maturation to adulthood, and according to the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA) this period comprises the age group between twelve and eighteen years (ESTATUTO DA CRIANÇA E DO ADOLESCENTE, 1990), however, the Ministry of Health (MS) determines that for the receptions that occur in Primary Health Care (PHC), the age range between ten and nineteen years is considered, which is subdivided between pre-adolescence (10 years to 14 years) and adolescence (15 years to 19 years) (BRASIL, 2018). This phase of human development is a period of biopsychosocial and physiological changes, where the individual seeks to understand the changes of the body in addition to establishing their identity as part of society (BATISTA, 2021).

Abstract:

Abstract:
The article contains empirical findings regarding the correlation between aggressiveness and social-psychological adaptation in adolescents. In today’s world, the issue of aggression and violence remains relevant. To date, the world has faced a complex situation due to economic, ecological, and social problems, which preconditions a rapid rise in human aggressive behaviour. The issue of aggressive behaviour is of particular urgency among adolescents. Many of the factors underlying aggression in adolescence have not yet been sufficiently substantiated in the scientific community. Such insufficiently studied phenomena include the correlation between aggressiveness and social-psychological adaptation. Social-psychological adaptation means a personal state allowing to attain mutual contentment of a person and social environment. Empirical findings have revealed a correlation between aggressiveness and social-psychological adaptation. It was found that the more aggression and its various forms are expressed, the more maladaptivity is manifested in young adolescents. However, positive associations were found between forms of aggression and components of adolescent socio- psychological adjustment. In this case, aggression can act as a compensating factor for maladaptation. Further studies of the correlation between aggressiveness and social-psychological adaptation comprises, firstly, research into gender differences in the correlation between aggressiveness and social-psychological adaptation, and secondly, studies in other ages and social groups of respondents.

Abstract:
A fundamental phase in the human development is adolescence. Defining for adolescence are the complex and complicated biological, cognitive and psychosocial modifications. The large changes and evolutions on all the plans influence significantly the emotional sphere of adolescents. The emotional experiences reach a pronounced intensity and instability. Adolescents demonstrates emotional instability and inconstancy, an exacerbation of negative emotions (anxiety and depression). As results of experimental study of negative emotions at adolescents we worriedly, we find that most of the adolescents, more than half of them (59,60% and 8,90%) have a moderate and high level of anxiety. A comparative analysis at the level of adolescents’ batch, depending on the dimension of gender, concerning the anxiety, allows us to declare that the high level of anxiety is more characteristic to girls. For depressive states: more than half of the adolescents (53,10% and 2,10%) experience moderate and high levels of depressive states. The correlation coefficient between anxiety and the depressive states confirms the existence of an interrelationship between anxiety and depressive feelings. Even though there are no gender differences in manifesting the depressive states at adolescents, the girls have an obvious higher frequency for depressive states than boys.

Abstract:
"The article’s main purpose is to present the value structure of adolescents. The period of adolescence is significantly important in an adolescent´s life in terms of the formation of the value structure. The structure of values firmly directs adolescents to choose their lifestyle and shows the direction of personality motivation. The preference for specific values is influenced not only by the adolescent´s personality, but also by his interests, needs, attitudes, and various events in his life. The research sample consisted of Slovak adolescents (N=335, girls N=205, boys N=130). The average age was 16.3 years. Our interest was focused on gender differences in the structure of values, measured using the Portrait Value Questionnaire (PVQ, Schwartz, 2003). The results showed a difference in preferred value structures (statistically significant) between girls and boys. Girls scored higher in the values of self-direction, universalism, openness to change, and self-transcendence."

Abstract:
With the popularity and spread of social media, more and more social software is helping to bring people closer to each other [1]. It is increasingly easy for adolescents to get other people's updates from social media, including celebrities, internet celebrities and peers [2]. Also adolescence is a time when the brain undergoes many structural and functional changes, so it is likely that the part of the social brain responsible for regulating imitation is still maturing throughout adolescence, which may lead to more pronounced imitative behaviour [3]. In addition, adolescents gain popularity, status and attractiveness through imitation of their idols or among their peers [4]. Therefore, making good use of the prevalent behaviours that social media has created in society has the potential to provide better behavioural interventions for the adolescent population [5], helping to shape better behavioural habits in adolescents, improving the current trend of younger disease and potentially reducing the likelihood of preventable health problems. The aim of this study was to analyse how popular behavioural mimicry among adolescents can be used to promote the activation of their health behaviours. We asked two questions: 1. the extent to which imitation behaviours activate adolescents' health behaviours; 2. measuring the impact of knowledge, skills and beliefs involved in the activation of behavioural imitation on adolescents' health maintenance and disease prevention.A questionnaire was used to enumerate the population groups that have the greatest influence on adolescents as the test sample in this study. 100 participants took part in the questionnaire, including 50 participants from mainland China and 50 participants from Hong Kong, whose mean age was 16 ± 3 years. After administering the questionnaire, 50 of these participants, who were randomly and equally divided into 10 groups of 5 participants each, were surveyed using the Activation Inventory (PAM) to measure the current level of knowledge, skills and beliefs involved in the activation of the adolescent population to maintain health and prevent disease, and then measured again using the PAM 30 and 60 days after the adolescents were exposed to the imitated subjects. The adolescent group itself was not highly aware of healthy behaviours and the effectiveness of positive health behaviour imitation in changing health behaviours and outcomes was somewhat proven when they were exposed to positive health behaviours of imitators for 30 days. However, 60 days after participants were exposed to imitations of healthy behaviours, although the imitations were still effective in maintaining healthy behaviours, the 60-day activation of healthy behaviours produced some decline compared to the first 30 days of outcomes. Therefore, in the future, more research should be conducted on the preferences and needs of adolescent groups to identify the social factors and groups that best trigger imitation among adolescents, and to promote positive health behaviours among adolescents by developing mobile applications that are more in line with adolescents' expectations to trigger trends, create widespread social discussion and be present in their daily conversations.References1.Moira Burke and Robert E. Abstract:
This article deals with the problem of conflicts in adolescence, which in the modern socio-cultural space has acquired unprecedented relevance. Dynamically changing society from day to day, dictates its own rules in the adolescent environment. Differences in views, preferences, thoughts and worldview are acutely perceived within the adolescent group. Due to the age and physiological characteristics that occur at this age, adolescents often do not know how to control their behavior and correctly respond to emerging controversial situations. All this sets the task of teachers and psychologists to help the teenager, to teach him a rational way out of the conflict, as well as to carry out preventive measures, to create programs to reduce the level of negative manifestations.

Abstract:
This article raises and discusses the main issues related to the technologies of working in conflict situations in the adolescent environment. Speaking about the conflict in adolescence, it is worth noting that scientists agree that it is communication with peers that is most significant for a teenager and largely determines all other aspects of his behavior and activity, personal development. Consequently, disagreements in the peer group, the struggle for status leads to a conflict of the parties. In this regard, we decided to develop technologies of psychological and pedagogical influence in working with conflict adolescents. We have developed a model of consistent work of actions, which will be aimed at preventing conflicts in the adolescent environment, as well as the formation of their stress resistance, self-control and self-control.

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: To our knowledge, no meta-analysis has summarized social cognitive performance in children and adolescents with epilepsy as independent groups. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis to examine differences between children and adolescents with epilepsy and HCs in terms of ToM and FER performance. Condition being studied: Epilepsy is characterized by chronic, unprovoked and recurrent seizures, is the most frequent neurological disease in childhood and usually occurs in early development. Worldwide, it is estimated that approximately 50 million people suffer from the pain of epileptic seizures, with more than half of the cases beginning in childhood and adolescence. So a comprehensive understanding of children and adolescence with epilepsy has become the focus of widespread attention. Recently, a number of studies have assessed ToM or facial emotion recognition deficits in children and adolescents with epilepsy, but the conclusions are inconsistent. These inconsistent findings might be related to the small sample sizes in most studies. Additionally, the methods used to evaluate ToM or facial emotion recognition performance were varied across studies. A meta-analysis can increase statistical power, estimate the severity of these deficits, and help resolve conflicting findings.

Abstract:
Previous research on the reproductive health of adolescents and youth in Pakistan has not addressed the diversity of adolescent experiences based on social status, residence, and gender. To understand the transition from adolescence to adulthood more fully, it is important to assess social, economic, and cultural aspects of that transition. This brief presents the experience of married and unmarried young people (males and females) from different social strata and residence regarding their own attitudes and expectations about reproductive health. More young people aged 15–24 live in Pakistan now than at any other time in its history—an estimated 36 million in 2004. Recognizing the dearth of information on this large group of young people, the Population Council undertook a nationally representative survey from October 2001 to March 2002. The analysis presented here comes from Adolescents and Youth in Pakistan 2001–02: A Nationally Representative Survey. The survey sought information from youth aged 15–24, responsible adults in the household, and other community members in 254 communities. A total of 6,585 households were visited and 8,074 young people were interviewed.
