Abstract:
In manifold ways science and practice are working together to find solutions for sustainable land management. New research programmes on this topic generate a large variety of single project results. Accompanying research projects will realize additional value by merging and synthesising the results from these projects and by supporting the generation of new knowledge for science and society. For many actors in science and policy, the additional value of research accompanying research projects remains open. Referring to a recent publication in GAIA that introduces a typology for accompanying research (AR), this article discusses the central issues, content, processes and ongoing challenges in an AR project accompanying the German research programme Sustainable Land Management. The important value of AR can be seen in communication, networking, the reflexive generation of new knowledge and knowledge management based on trust building and competence. AR also exhibits great potential for research on cross-cutting issues in research programmes and has special significance for meta-studies on different research projects taking place under similar funding conditions. However, additional analyses are necessary for a better understanding of the outcomes and impacts of AR and to create wider appreciation and acceptance.

Abstract:
Introduction. Two-phase flow transmission is a complex process exposed to the influence of numerous factors. Its characteristics may depend on the physical properties of a flowing medium and on the properties of a pipeline, flow velocities, etc. A research into new types of hydraulic systems serves to identify the parameters that characterize the processes that accompany their transmission, especially if a multi-component flow is analyzed (a mix of water and abrasive particles). The mission of the research is to identify the value of hydraulic resistance coefficient in the course of transmission of a two-phase flow, or a mix of water and an abrasive. Materials and methods. A physics experiment, mathematical data processing methods, data description. Results. The co-authors have identified the hydraulic resistance coefficient value in the course of the mix transmission, as well as the parameters characterizing supplementary pressure losses in the course of the abrasive transmission. The experimental research enabled the co-authors to identify maximal water and mix application distances that reach 317 and 290 meters. Conclusions. The results, obtained by the co-authors, are the consequence of the pressure losses that occur in the course of mix transmission and the coefficients that characterize it. The flows considered in the article are used in the systems whose parameters are considerably different from those of traditional hydraulic engineering systems; therefore, any theoretical results obtained by the co-authors need experimental verification. Further, similar systems having different parameters must also be exposed to research to identify the relation between the pressure loss and the abrasive consumption rate and amount. The practical value of the research consists in the identification of maximal water and mix transmission and application distances providing that the operating parameters of the systems remain unchanged.

The paper presents problems experienced during repairs of structures operated at high temperature for a long time. Research-related TOFD method-based ultrasonic tests revealed indications implying the presence of unacceptable imperfections in welded joints. Attempted repairs involving the use of welding methods proved ineffective as the welding and heat treatment processes resulted in the formation of cracks. The tests and analysis of the above-named issue revealed that the reason for repair-related problems lay in relaxation cracks triggered by excessively high stresses in the joints and improper parameters of heat treatment to which the steel of the boiler was subjected. The welding technology developed as a result of the study enabled the performance of the proper repair of related equipment and made it possible to re-start the production.

Abstract:
As the number of elderly patients with dementia is increasing year by year, accompanying products for the elderly with dementia are becoming more and more important. Senile dementia has become a major disease that affects countries around the world and, at the same time, it has brought enormous pressure on social care. Therefore, this research aims to obtain a new set of design methods for dementia elderly care products by introducing the combination of AHP and fuzzy evaluation methods and applying them to design examples. And then break through the existing design path of accompanying products for the elderly with dementia, and relieve the social burden. This study takes the intelligent care robot for the elderly with dementia as an example. Due to the particularity of user groups, this article proposed a design method for elderly care products that integrates mathematical theoretical models. This design method is convenient for designers to have a more accurate data reference when designing and positioning, and summarizing the supporting product design scheme that can better meet the actual needs of the elderly with dementia. Through SET factors to analyze the driving force of demand for dementia elderly care products, and combined with a questionnaire survey to establish the design requirements of dementia elderly care products for analysis of hierarchy process, it effectively defines the design demand attributes of dementia elderly intelligent care robots. The research results are applied to the design of the intelligent accompanying care robot for the demented elderly, the comprehensive fuzzy evaluation of the design scheme is carried out, and the direction of further optimization of the scheme is obtained. This article proposed a design method for accompanying care products for the elderly with dementia by combining F-AHP (Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method and Analytic Hierarchy Process). This design method is based on a rigorous mathematical theoretical model. Compared with the traditional design method, this research focused on quantitative analysis and evaluation of the actual design requirements of the dementia elderly care products and had more accurate design priority data reference in the scheme design. The research results show that based on the combination of F-AHP, this article redefines the design path of accompanying products for the elderly with dementia, and concludes that the functions that need to be improved and optimized in the future of intelligent accompanying robots for the elderly with dementia are mainly: executive ability training, computing ability training, and observation ability training. At the same time, the design process of the intelligent escort robot for the elderly with dementia can also be applied to the design of intelligent elderly products, which can improve the service experience of intelligent elderly products in a targeted manner.

Abstract:
Purpose. Study of oscillations that occur during end-milling and their influence on the formation of the processed surface. Research methods. The research was carried out using the experimental method, in which oscillograms of part oscillations were recorded with the allocation of cutting time during milling. Basic fragments of oscillograms were studied using the analytical method, on which the parameters characterizing the milling process were measured, and their relationship with the processed surface was determined. Results. When milling with low spindle rotation frequencies, with down and up direction of feed, the part is affected by various types of oscillations, which are characteristic of the first and second speed zones of oscillations. During up and down end-milling, only forced oscillations operate in the first high-speed oscillation zone. In the second speed zone during up milling, the accompanying natural vibrations of the technological system are superimposed on the forced oscillations. It has been experimentally and analytically proven that the resulting deviation from the position of elastic equilibrium of the first wave of the accompanying oscillations affects the pitch and height of the waviness of the processed surface, which confirms the connection between the dynamics of end-milling and shaping. Scientific novelty. The impact of accompanying free oscillations of the technological system during cutting on the formation of the processed surface is evaluated using parameters characterizing the dynamics of end-milling. Practical value. The obtained results prove the influence of the cutting speed on the amplitude of the accompanying free oscillations of the technological system and provide an opportunity to choose cutting modes that ensure vibration stability of milling.

Abstract:
The use of mineral additives from the power and metallurgy industries in the production of building materials still raises questions about the ecological safety of such materials. These questions are particularly associated with the release of heavy metals. The article presents research related to the leaching of chromium from concretes made of Portland cement CEM I and slag cement CEM III/B (containing 75% of granulated blast furnace slag). Concrete was evaluated for leaching mechanisms that may appear during tank test over the long term (64 days). It has been presented that the dominating process associated with the leaching of chromium from both types of concrete is surface wash-off. Between the 9th and 64th day of the test, leaching of Portland cement concrete can be diffusion controlled. It has been proven that the participation of slag in the composition of concrete does not affect the level of leaching of chromium into the environment from concrete.

Abstract:
The authors analyze the results of the study of the archaeological complex of Shimaila. The complex includes rock carvings and a burial mound. These objects were investigated by the Karatau archaeological expedition of Ahmed Yasawi University under the leadership of S.S. Murgabayev. The research materials are being introduced into scientific discourse for the first time. The chronological framework of petroglyphs dates from the Bronze Age to the Early Middle Ages. During the excavations, three mounds were uncovered, the peculiarity of their structures was recorded, as well as the analysis of the accompanying inventory became the basis for the conclusion about the dating of burial structures within the middle of the IV century BC – II century BC. As part of the accompanying inventory, a two-edged sword, arrowheads, an earring and a pendant, a bronze mirror with a handle, a stone altar and beads. These objects, as well as the locations of petroglyphs, demonstrate the prospects for further field studies of Karatau monuments for the reconstruction of complex processes of cultural genesis in the Central Asian region from the Bronze Age to the turn of our era.

Discussion of Clinical Cases 6, no. 1 (March 10, 2019): 26. http://dx.doi.org/10.5430/dcc.v6n1p26.

Full text
Abstract:
Objective: To explore the significance of serum Retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) and its relationship with coronary artery lesion in patients with senior coronary heart disease accompanying T2DM by determining the level of serum RBP4 and Gensini score. Methods: 30 cases of patients who were 60 years old above with coronary heart disease accompanying T2DM were selected and included in the experimental group, and 30 cases of patients of 60 years old above with coronary heart disease alone were included in the control group. Both groups of patients were given CAG examinations. In addition, Gensini score was calculated according to different degrees and parts of coronary artery lesion. It was required to record each patient’s age, gender, fasting blood glucose (FPG), triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and other laboratory examination indexes. ELISA was used to detect the level of serum RBP4 in each group, and statistical analysis was performed to the data in each group. Results: (1) RBP4 level, GS score, FPG and LDL-C in the experimental group were all higher than those in the control group, and the difference was of statistical significance (p < .05). There was no statistically significant difference in age, gender, TC, TG and HDL-C between two groups. (2) RBP4 was positively correlated to FPG and HbA1c. (3) In patients with senior coronary heart disease accompanying diabetes mellitus, HbA1c was positively correlated to GS score, RBP4 and FPG. (4) RBP4 was a risk factor for coronary artery stenosis in patients with senior coronary heart disease accompanying diabetes mellitus. Conclusions: The level of serum RBP4 in patients with senior coronary heart disease accompanying diabetes mellitus is higher than that in patients with coronary heart disease alone, with a deeper degree of coronary artery lesion. The level of serum RBP4 is increased with the degree of lesion deepened in patients with senior coronary heart disease, suggesting that the level of serum RBP4 is expected to be an early predictor of coronary artery lesion for patients with senior coronary heart disease.

Abstract:
The popularity of focus group interview has rapidly grown in the last two decades. After long-time period in which this technique had been practiced almost exclusively in marketing research it begins the period of its frequent application in a great number of academic fields (sociology, psychology, evaluation research, public opinion research, communication, medical care). Only with the intensification of investigations in which focus group interviewing has been applied it was enabled achieving of experience that can be methodologically generalized, with accompanying development of the technique. This text refers to the basic methodological principles of this technique's application. In the paper the methodological experiences are synthesized which are accumulated through an enormous number of foreign explorations, as well as in many-year research experience of the author.

Abstract:
This research focuses on the informational value of submicroscopic representations (SMRs) in chemistry textbook sets for Slovenian primary schools (Grade 8 and Grade 9, students’ age 13-15 years). For the purpose of analysis a holistic criteria related to the accompanying descriptors of SMRs in textbook sets was developed. The research revealed four main holistic descriptors accompanying SMRs, i.e. direct descriptor (D), indirect descriptor (I), combined descriptor (C), and SMRs without descriptors (W), which support learners’ recognition of SMRs’ informational value on different levels by providing different accompanying add-ons of SMRs. In-depth analysis identified 14 main categories of the underlying representational types of SMR add-ons. The significance of the research is in initiating a discussion about the holistic criteria for the description of SMRs integrated in the textbook sets, because in practice the learner perceives each SMR as a whole. Keywords: chemistry learning, chemistry textbook sets, informational value, submicroscopic representations, textbook analysis.

It is argued that many of the major notions in 'mainstream' linguistic theory and method over the years have been influenced by a 'classical formalist' ambience that suited conventional ideas about how science ought to proceed but fostered an idealized 'frozen' conception of the language system in isolation from reality and society. Today, the tide is turning toward functionalist accounts of language; but the accompanying shift in our scientific programme calls for careful reflection. Some deep-lying motives for the shift are explored with a view to potential consequences.

Abstract:
This paper reviews and critiques the existing literature on accompanying partners of international students (APIS), who are often an ignored population in programs and services for the internationalization of Canadian higher education. Particularly, we identify three issues. First, we argue that current research on this group overwhelmingly focuses on their social and cultural adaptation difficulties while ignoring their agency in dealing with life challenges in the host society. Second, we note that research on this population should go beyond an overemphasis on gender, to include a comprehensive analysis of how gender intersects with other unequal social relations, such as race and class, in contributing to the complexity and multiplicity of their lived experiences. Finally, we suggest that rather than conflating APIS with trailing partners of expatriates or immigrants and treating them as a homogenous group, researchers should do more to address their heterogeneity from an anti-essentialist approach.
