Abstract:
Accelerated degradation test (ADT) has been extensively applied to reliability assessment. To improve the efficiency–cost ratio of ADT, the optimal design method of ADT has become a research hot topic. An optimal design method based on acceleration factor, in which a Wiener degradation model and a step-stress ADT were considered, was proposed in the paper. In order to establish an accurate accelerated degradation model, acceleration factor constant principle was applied to derive the changing rules of Wiener process parameters with accelerated stress. Besides, the exact expression of acceleration factor was determined for a Wiener degradation model. The asymptotic variance of acceleration factor, which was considered as a measure of the consistency of failure mechanisms, was selected to be the objective function of optimal problem so as to ensure that the failure mechanism of products under accelerated stresses is probably consistent with that under the normal use stresses. A numerical example of designing an optimal ADT plan for a certain type electrical connector was studied, in which the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method were validated.

Abstract:
Based on the Surabaya Madura Regional Development Agency Master Plan 2010-2024, Madura Island has a strategic position as part of the Gerbangkertosusila Urban National Strategy. There is still, however, a development disparity between Madura Island and East Java. This can be seen from the economic performance of Madura Island which is quite low compared to other districts or cities in East Java Province. Madura Human Development Index (HDI) is below the East Java on average, and the percentage of poor people in Madura is the highest in East Java. Therefore, the development of Surabaya-Madura (Suramadu) must be integrated through regional development, such as development of connectivity systems. The research used descriptive analysis to assess the characteristics of a program and to adjust the characteristics with sustainable development theory that consists of three components, namely: environmental, economic, and social developments. These can ultimately be used to sharpen the development target to be achieved in the next 5 (five) years. Data were collected using secondary survey instruments through existing literature studies and policy reviews, such as National Medium-Term Development Plan 2020-2024 and Regional Medium-Term Development Plan of East Java Province.

Abstract:
J-PARC, the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex, is an accelerator, which provides a high-intensity proton beam. Recently as a very attractive project, the acceleration of heavy ions produced by supplementary ion sources, called J-PARC-HI, is seriously contemplated by domestic as well as international communities. The planned facility would accelerate heavy ions up to U92+ with a beam energy 20 AGeV ([see formula in PDF] of 6.2 AGeV). The highlight of the J-PARC-HI project is its very high beam rate up to ~1011 Hz, which will enable the study of very rare events. Taking advantage of this high intensity, J-PARC-HI will carry out frontier studies of new and rare observables in this energy region: (i) nuclear medium modification of chiral property of vector mesons through low-mass di-lepton signal, (ii) QCD critical pointcharacterization through event-by-event fluctuation signals of particle production, (iii) systematic measurements related to the equation of state through collective flow signal or two-particle momentum correlation signal, or (iv) the search of hyper nuclei with multi strangeness including or exceeding S = 3. The current plan of J-PARC-HI aims to carrying out the first experimental measurements in 2025.

Abstract:
The successfulness of executing the construction projects right on time is one of the most important goals both for the owners and contractors. In general, each construction project has a specific implementation plan and schedule of implementation. It contains some important things, for example when the project should begin, when it should be completed, and how to provide the resources. As in the development project of Public Health Center building in LarenDistrict, Lamongan Regency in 2016 which has been delayed up to six weeks, causing inaccuracy between the planningschedule anddevelopment implementation. This research aims to be used as an evaluation to get the fastest acceleration time by using cut and crashing method. From the data obtained fromthe time schedule, cost estimate plan (RAB),wage price analysis, and project materials, the next step is making the job network and determining the critical pathfor cut and crash method. The results of the study show that the project acceleration can be done up to 82 days or 7 days faster than the normal day, that is 89 days with acceleration cost of Rp. 347.935.000,00 or increased from the normal cost of Rp. 345.390.000,00. The percentage of the selected acceleration time ratio is approximately 6.02% faster than the normal time, while for the acceleration cost is approximately 0.68% greater than the normal cost. Therefore, with this research, the work actually can be completed on December 13, 2016.

Abstract:
Since 2000, Morocco has launched important institutional and economic reforms based on strategies to correct market failures in important sectors of the economy. These strategies have included tax exemptions and other financial incentives, facilitating access to land and simplifying administrative procedures, and launching major public infrastructure projects, all of which have combined to create a new investment dynamic in strategic sectors such as agriculture, industry, and energy. These efforts have affected many sectors: the Azur Vision 2020 plan for tourism, the Green Morocco Plan for agriculture, the Halieutis 2020 Plan for fishing, Maroc Plus Export for export, the Emergence Plan (2005) for industry followed by the National Pact for Industrial Emergence, 2009-2015 and the new Industrial Acceleration Plan, 2014-2020. For example, to support the new Industrial Acceleration Plan, the government has provided a grant, a financial support of about 2% of GDP over 6 years. The government has also offered ad hoc support to attract foreign investors in large private projects likely to generate significant positive externalities. One example is the project to set up a Renault Company plant in Tangiers, which aims to produce and export 400,000 cars per year (World Bank, 2017).This note highlights the industrial sectors that can offer the best potential for growth, attract private investors and contribute to the creation of decent jobs. It will also identify ways to accelerate investment in Morocco. These industrial investments may include purely private investments or those made with the support of international financial institutions. The note analyzes investment and sectoral integration opportunities using the input model (outputs and employment elasticity indicators), the evaluation of the industrial acceleration plan, and sets out the measures taken by the CVE to promote VSEs. Only one classic sector is selected is highlighted for their investment potential and their commitment to reform in the sectors. It is the food industry. The note follows the diagram below:1) An introduction to the economic, political and social frameworks, including key indicators 2) A sector analysis to identify one to three sectors that are likely to be the subject of accelerated investment and in which reforms will have a particularly high chance of improving the business and investment climate and having an impact on development. 3) A mapping of the most relevant initiatives, technical assistance, grants and loans, and investments by donors and other stakeholders, such as development finance institutions. In the selected sector(s).4) An analysis of the existing reform agenda in the respective sector(s) and the identification of areas where there is a high likelihood of effective cooperation to support the implementation of these reforms.

Abstract:
In this research, the effects of rotational components of earthquakes on seismic responses of Triple Concave Friction Pendulum (TCFP) base-isolated structures are investigated elaborately. Although it is common to ignore the influence of rotational components of earthquakes on structural analysis, this investigation demonstrates the significant effects of these components on seismic responses of isolated structures mounted on TCFP bearings. Extensive base-isolated structures models with different superstructure specifications such as slenderness and aspect ratios as well as isolation properties such as effective period and damping are investigated. Essential seismic responses such as base shear, roof acceleration, isolator displacement and base slab rotation are studied while isolated structures subjected to the translational components of earthquakes as well as the rotational and translational components of earthquakes simultaneously. The results demonstrate the sensitivity of seismic responses to the superstructure properties such as the slenderness ratio and plan aspect ratio in presence of rotational components; whereas it does not show such sensitivity to isolation properties. Generally, the roof acceleration and the base shear can be affected by the rotational components, tremendously. For instance the roof acceleration can be raised 220% in a structure when its plan length is three times more than its plan width and the base shear can be increased 33% for a 9-story building in presence of rotational components.

In order to make model loading plan reasonably, point loads and moving loads are used in the finite element calculation model of subway tunnel, and the result shows that: the time-history curves of acceleration are uniform under two conditions of point loads and moving loads in the U-shaped Metro tunnel orthogonal with the ground fissure, and they are consistent with the load curve. Under two conditions of point loads and moving loads, the maximum displacement along the tunnel arch bottom are at the end of the tunnel and the minimum displacement are at the middle. In these two conditions, the distributions of the displacements are agreement. The vertical acceleration of lining arch bottom has much difference with the loading frequencies changed. In point load conditions, the maximum acceleration curve of 3Hz, 8Hz take on inverted V shaped and the maximum acceleration curve of 5Hz, 10Hz, 15Hz and 20Hz take on a V shape; in moving loads case, the maximum acceleration curve of 5Hz is inverted V shaped; the maximum acceleration curve of 20Hz is V shaped; the maximum acceleration curve of 8Hz is lower left upper right; and the maximum the acceleration curve of 10Hz and 15Hz are upper left lower right.

Full text
Abstract:
We propose an effective method to design a modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO) singularity control method for a fully parallel robot manipulator. By adopting MPSO to obtain simple and effective estimated damping values, the result automatically adjusts the damping value around a singular point and greatly improves the accuracy of system responses. This method works by damping accelerations of the end effector, so that accelerations along the degenerated directions are zero at a singular point. These velocities, however, may not be zero in some situations, in which case, fluctuations will be encountered around a singular point. To overcome this drawback, we propose a control scheme that uses both damped acceleration and damped velocity, called the hybrid damped resolved-acceleration control (HDRAC) scheme. The MPSO optimization method can immediately provide optimal damping factors when used in an online application. Our proposed approach offers such superior features as easy implementation, stable convergence characteristics, and good computational efficiency. The main advantage of the HDRAC with MPSO in the 3RPS parallel manipulator control system is that it is not necessary for the system to plan its path for avoiding the singular point; thus, the workspace can be improved. Illustrative examples are provided to show the effectiveness of this HDRAC in practical applications, and experimental results verifying the utility of the proposed control scheme are presented.

Abstract:
Three experiments are reviewed, performed (in 2014–2016) at ID18 of ESRF to measure the influence of acceleration on time dilation by measuring the relative shift between the absorption lines of two states of the same rotating absorber with accelerations anti-parallel and parallel to the incident beam. Statistically significant data for rotation frequencies up to 510 Hz in both directions of rotation were collected. For each run with high rotation, a stable statistically significant `vibration-free' relative shift between the absorption lines of the two states was measured. This may indicate the influence of acceleration on time dilation. However, the measured relative shift was also affected by the use of a slit necessary to focus the beam to the axis of rotation to a focal spot of sub-micrometre size. The introduction of the slit broke the symmetry in the absorption lines due to the nuclear lighthouse effect and affected the measured relative shift, preventing to claim conclusively the influence of acceleration on time dilation. Assuming that this loss of symmetry is of first order, the zero value of the relative shift, corrected for this loss, falls always within the experimental error limits, as predicted by Einstein's clock hypothesis. The requirements and an indispensable plan for a conclusive experiment, once the improved technology becomes available, is presented. This will be useful to future experimentalists wishing to pursue this experiment or a related rotor experiment involving a Mössbauer absorber and a synchrotron Mössbauer source.

Abstract:
The Brazilian law N° 12.587/12 on urban mobility, currently in effect, aims to ensure the improvement of accessibility, and the trafficability of people and cargo in cities, as well as integrate transport modes, and study mechanisms for infrastructure management. Cities with a population of more than 20,000 had to create their urban mobility plans, according to the requirements of the Ministry of the City. The objective of the plan is to conceive projects that aim to mitigate operational and functional problems in the transportation network within the municipalities. One of these cities that is creating a mobility plan is Anápolis-GO, where its plan includes the implementation of bus lanes on the main avenues of the municipality. In these corridors, there was the substitution of the flexible pavement by slabs of PCC (Portland cement concrete), at the boarding and alighting points, due to the sudden braking events and occasional acceleration. Given this scenario, the study aimed to analyze the stopping distance at these locations, as a function of road speed and braking rate, to assess whether the length of these slabs would be sufficient to what was proposed. In addition, it was sought to monitor the pavement against the performance of the PCC slabs, given the incident loads of braking and acceleration, as well as the performance of the flexible pavement, predicting the possible consequences and/or pathologies that may occur due to the operation, since the existing traffic in the corridors should be compatible with that of a high-speed road.

Abstract:
Abstract In 1955, the SPVEA launched the Primeiro Plano Quinquenal in response to growing international interest in Amazonia's resources and internal pressure to address the region's chronic underdevelopment. The Plano was the largest modernization plan attempted in Amazonia until then. It aimed at transforming the region's rich ecosystem into the driving force of Brazil's development as well as a major raw material provider for global markets. The article examines this neglected episode of Brazilian developmentalism as an important experience preparing the entrance of Brazil in the so-called Great Acceleration. The Plano established a rational method and constructed a technoscientific infrastructure that did not just organize the modernization of the region as a whole but formed an Anthropocene culture in Amazonia. Via their planned approach to the modernization of Amazonia, the SPVEA planners introduced new representations, demands, and expectations of the region which encouraged the exploitation of its biological reality and linked it to the advancement of Brazil. Thus, the article explores, some specificities of the Great Acceleration in the Global South and sheds new light on the political and cultural origins of the Anthropocene in Brazil.

Abstract:
Urban underground pipelines are the lifelines of the city. With the acceleration of city modernization, the traditional way to design and manage pipeline plans which relies on 2D diagrams has been difficult to secure the normal operation of the city. In this paper, a standard automatic 3D pipeline modelling process is proposed; a way to manage massive 3D scenes by scene graph is raised; three patterns of 3D integrated visualization are suggested; innovative stereo displays of pipeline analysis results are thought out. Eventually, a 3D urban underground pipeline plan aid system has been developed. At present, the system has been used in Xicheng Bureau of the Beijing Municipal Planning Commission, providing valuable decision-making information for urban underground pipeline network planning and management.

Abstract:
An accelerated life test of a product or material consists of the observation of its failure time when it is subjected to conditions that stress the usual ones. The purpose is to obtain the parameters of the distribution of the time-to-failure for usual conditions through the observed failure times. A widely used method to provoke an early failure in a mechanism is to modify the temperature at which it is used. In this paper, the statistically optimal plan for Accelerated Failure Time (AFT) models, when the accelerated failure process is described making use of Arrhenius or Eyring equations, was calculated. The result was a design that had only two stress levels, as is common in other AFT models and that is not always practical. A new compromise plan was presented as an alternative to the widely used “4:2:1 plan”. The three-point mixture design proposed specified a support point in the interval that was optimal for the estimation of the parameters in AFT models, rather than simply the middle point. It was studied in comparison to different commonly used designs, and it proved to have a higher D-efficiency than the others.

Abstract:
There is strong management interest in the use of multimedia stimuli to gather data with which to forecast consumer response to really new products. These vivid methods have high face validity and are attractive to top management, but they have only begun to be tested for validity. The authors evaluate one virtual representation called information acceleration (IA) that has been applied eight times to consumer and business-to-business products. They report on three tests of validity—two internal and one external. The first internal test compares the ability of IA to represent a physical automobile showroom and salesperson. The second internal test compares the ability of IA to represent the interpersonal interaction of a medical technician with a physician when evaluating a new medical instrument. The external test compares forecasts, made in 1992 for a camera launched in 1993, with actual sales for 1993 and 1994. The authors also compare actual sales to forecasts modified for the actual marketing plan and for an unforeseen negative Consumer Reports article. Using real-world applications of IA as a basis, the authors conclude with a summary of the lessons that have been learned during the past five years.

Abstract:
Recent studies show that rotational components of earthquakes can amplify the floor acceleration in a base-isolated structure. As a result, the seismic force of nonstructural components could be significantly increased. In this paper, a simple rectangular deck with various geometrical properties mounted on triple concave friction pendulum (TCFP) bearings is examined. At first a set of three translational components from 25 near-fault ground motion records are considered. Then, three rotational components, i.e., torsional and two rocking motions are computed for each earthquake. The results of nonlinear dynamic analysis in a rectangular structure with an aspect ratio in plan equal to 3, demonstrate that the acceleration approximately intensifies 3.4 times in presence of all six ground motion components compared to three translational ones. Finally, a new formula is proposed to determine the maximum acceleration of base-isolated structure without performing the dynamic analysis due to rotational components of ground motions.

Abstract:
In the context of the new economy, the new vectors of competitiveness of companies in the aerospace industry organized within efficient ecosystems (EFECO) will be based more on knowledge. These are Industry 4.0 and the decarbonization of production based on knowledge management (KM). These two levers will be the foundations of the transformation of the aeronautical supply chain in the future. For their implementation, we made a case study on a non-probability sample of 17 partners. At the end of this investigation, we propose implementing a new generation of transversal ecosystems within the framework of a new Industrial Acceleration Plan 2.0. This new form of organization will facilitate a collaborative sharing of knowledge between all the ecosystemic components with a view to innovation. Starting from the Industrial Acceleration Plan ( IAP) (2014-2020), we will make our proposal based on a knowledge management approach. In this context, our epistemological posture will be interpretative with a constructivism arranged. Our methodological approach will be qualitative. Our study will be in line with a perspective of proactivity and supposition.

Abstract:
S -shape acceleration and deceleration are the most widely used flexible acceleration and deceleration method in the current CNC system, but its velocity solution equation contains irrational terms, which create a more complicated solution process. When analyzing the solution process of the S -shape acceleration and deceleration directly, using a traditional numerical solution method, the phenomenon of “solving the interval jump” arises, which is the main reason for low efficiency and poor stability of the solution. According to the S -curve profile and solution, the concept of separating the curve profile recognition from the velocity solution was proposed, and a method of quickly identifying the interval of the solution location was introduced. Through the method mentioned above, the complete acceleration and deceleration curve parameters can be obtained through a one-time plan and a one-time solution, and the solution efficiency and stability are guaranteed; solving the Newton problem depends too much on the initial value of Newton velocity, which not only retains the speed advantage of the Newton method but also uses the downhill factor to ensure its convergence. Through the simulation comparison and analysis, the efficiency, stability, and universality of the method are verified.

Abstract:
Deduplication decreases the physical occupancy of files in a storage volume by removing duplicate copies of data chunks, but creates data-sharing dependencies that complicate standard storage management tasks. Specifically, data migration plans must consider the dependencies between files that are remapped to new volumes and files that are not. Thus far, only greedy approaches have been suggested for constructing such plans, and it is unclear how they compare to one another and how much they can be improved. We set to bridge this gap for seeding —migration in which the target volume is initially empty. We prove that even this basic instance of data migration is NP-hard in the presence of deduplication. We then present GoSeed, a formulation of seeding as an integer linear programming (ILP) problem, and three acceleration methods for applying it to real-sized storage volumes. Our experimental evaluation shows that, while the greedy approaches perform well on “easy” problem instances, the cost of their solution can be significantly higher than that of GoSeed’s solution on “hard” instances, for which they are sometimes unable to find a solution at all.

Abstract:
Abstract In this review article, we review the 3 important aspects of linear-energy-transfer (LET) in intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) for head and neck (H&N) cancer management. Accurate LET calculation methods are essential for LET-guided plan evaluation and optimization, which can be calculated either by analytical methods or by Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Recently, some new 3D analytical approaches to calculate LET accurately and efficiently have been proposed. On the other hand, several fast MC codes have also been developed to speed up the MC simulation by simplifying nonessential physics models and/or using the graphics processor unit (GPU)–acceleration approach. Some concepts related to LET are also briefly summarized including (1) dose-weighted versus fluence-weighted LET; (2) restricted versus unrestricted LET; and (3) microdosimetry versus macrodosimetry. LET-guided plan evaluation has been clinically done in some proton centers. Recently, more and more studies using patient outcomes as the biological endpoint have shown a positive correlation between high LET and adverse events sites, indicating the importance of LET-guided plan evaluation in proton clinics. Various LET-guided plan optimization methods have been proposed to generate proton plans to achieve biologically optimized IMPT plans. Different optimization frameworks were used, including 2-step optimization, 1-step optimization, and worst-case robust optimization. They either indirectly or directly optimize the LET distribution in patients while trying to maintain the same dose distribution and plan robustness. It is important to consider the impact of uncertainties in LET-guided optimization (ie, LET-guided robust optimization) in IMPT, since IMPT is sensitive to uncertainties including both the dose and LET distributions. We believe that the advancement of the LET-guided plan evaluation and optimization will help us exploit the unique biological characteristics of proton beams to improve the therapeutic ratio of IMPT to treat H&N and other cancers.

Abstract:
This paper presents a fault-tolerant control scheme for the sensor fault in the acceleration process of the variable cycle engine. Firstly, an adaptive equilibrium manifold model with multiple inputs and multiple outputs is established. Combined with the Kalman filter bank, sensor fault diagnosis is carried out to realize the diagnosis and signal reconstruction of the engine in the case of a single sensor and double sensor faults. On this basis, isolation and group isolation are used to diagnose sensor faults and reconstruct signal in speed closed-loop control. Then, the control plan of the acceleration process is optimized based on the target shooting method, aiming to simulate the variation of various variables in the engine acceleration process more accurately, so as to verify the feasibility of the sensor fault-tolerant control scheme. Finally, a hardware-in-loop simulation platform is built based on the idea of distributed control, and the fault-tolerant control scheme of the sensor proposed previously is verified based on this platform. The results show that the proposed scheme can accurately diagnose the sensor faults and reconstruct the signal within 0.2 s, and the actual speed can rise from 67.87% to 99.9% in 4 s, ensuring the safe and rapid completion of the acceleration process.

Abstract:
This study presents the development and analysis of a technique for planning the autonomous vehicle (AV) motion references using sequential optimization. The method determines the trajectory plan, speed and acceleration distributions, and other AV kinematic parameters. The approach combines the basics of the finite element method (FEM) and nonlinear optimization with nonlinear constraints. First, we briefly described the generalization of representing an arbitrary function by finite elements (FE) within a road segment. We chose a one-dimensional FE with two nodes and three degrees of freedom (DOF) in a node corresponding to the 5th-degree polynomial. Next, we presented a method for defining the motion trajectory. The following are considered: the formation of a restricted space for the AV’s allowable maneuvering, the motion trajectory geometry and its relation with vehicle steerability parameters, cost functions and their influences on the desirable trajectory’s nature, and the compliance of nonlinear restrictions of the node parameters with the motion area boundaries. In the second stage, we derived a technique for optimizing the AV’s speed and acceleration redistributions. The model considers possible combinations of objective functions, limiting the kinematic parameters by the tire slip critical speed, maximum speed level, maximum longitudinal acceleration, and critical lateral acceleration. In the simulation section, we compared several variants of trajectories and versions of distributing the longitudinal speed and acceleration curves. The advantages, drawbacks, and conclusions regarding the proposed technique are presented.

Furthermore the floor size and horizontal stiffness in the same floor are different tremendously, otherwise there are many dislocation floor in the same floor, according to different function in the same floor. Irregular plane in the building may happen according to the situation above. It is harmful to the force,, displacement and deformation in irregular plane. In order to research the essence of the irregular plane and avoid it, firstly the irregular plane is introduced, also we have distinguished stretch joint, settlement joint and, seismic joint according to the force theory of structure, and then we have used PKPM structural calculation program to build model, simulating the force in two improved models on the dead load, live load and horizontal seismic load, we have gotten the maximum displacement, maximum displacement angle, velocity, acceleration, shear force and moment, then we have analysised and compared displacement, movement and force. Finally, we have concluded:“Architectural design should be adopted by regular plane designing rule,it should not be adopted by irregular plane designing rule;for the building structure which body is complex and irregular plane, the designer should install the seismic joint in the appropriate parts according to actual needs, make the irregular building structure into several regular unit structure which could resist the horizontal load.”

Projects with a contract value of Rp52.364.056.071 began work on May 6, 2019, and planned to finish on December 1, 2019. At the time of the study, the project progress report up to the 12th week showed a 3,76% delay in project implementation. This affects the project completion time and the contractor may be subject to penalty for the delay. This study’s purpose to design a schedule to get the acceleration of construction time using the fast track method and compare the results obtained by the conditions of project implementation experiencing delays. Secondary data used include time schedules, budget plans (RAB), weekly reports of supervisory consultants, analysis of contractor unit prices, and project drawings. The value of the implementation budget plan (RAP) is Rp45.917.529.226,76 calculated based on the RAB of the contractor without taxes and profits. The results of the analysis using the fast track method show that the project can be accelerated so that it can be finished according to the planned schedule by accelerating by 59 days (22,7%) from the duration of project implementation in a late condition (without acceleration). In terms of cost, project implementation in a late condition incurs more costs than the project implementation using the fast track method. The magnitude of the additional costs of implementing the project with a late condition of Rp2.656.202.803,55 or 5,468% more than the application of the fast track method. The application of the fast track method results in changes in the number of workers and material procurement needs at a time caused by the time shifts in activities implemented out in parallel.

Abstract:Public works spending was an integral component of John F. Kennedy’s fiscal policy. Drawing on a wide range of archival evidence from the Kennedy Presidential Library, we show how the administration worked to pass a $2.5 billion infrastructure bill that would give the presidency unilateral authority in determining where and when those funds would be spent. Contrary to recent accounts that emphasize Kennedy’s role in promoting massive tax cuts in 1963–64, the 1962 Public Works Acceleration Act was a key fiscal instrument that Kennedy advocated prior to the administration’s push for tax reform. Moreover, the public works policy was strictly Keynesian—designed as a proactive countercyclical “stabilizer” that would generate budget deficits in order to make up for slack in a recession. Kennedy’s plan faced stiff resistance in Congress and the history of the law offers important lessons for why infrastructure programs are often disregarded as countercyclical instruments.

Abstract:
The number of samples available for testing of a newly developed item is quite small, and only limited reliability information is available in many real cases. Therefore, a multi-purpose test plan is essential for reliability estimation. To reflect real product development scenarios, this study presents a practical lifetime estimation strategy based on a partially step-stress-accelerated degradation test (PSSADT) with three stress levels. The PSSADT plan assumes that the degradation path follows a Wiener process and that the cumulative exposure model holds. The proposed test plan determines the stress level in the final loaded step that minimizes the asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimator of the qth quantile of the lifetime distribution under the use condition. Finally, the test scenario, which includes the necessary validity check of the acceleration model, is illustrated with an example.

Abstract:
This paper addresses the problem of low electromagnetic weft insertion acceleration performance of extra-large width automatic looms. Based on single-stage electromagnetic weft insertion and multi-stage intermittent electromagnetic weft insertion, a sectional combined continuous acceleration electromagnetic weft insertion design plan is proposed. First, a new type of weft gripper for electromagnetic weft insertion is designed on the basis of the traditional projectile, and a segmented combined structure optimization design is carried out on the 90 mm single-stage coil. Next, the electromagnetic weft insertion movement model is established to analyze the force and movement speed of the gripper during the movement. The amount of work done by the electromagnetic force of the combined coil determines the exit speed of the weft gripper. Finally, in order to find the best parameters of the combined coil structure to meet the requirements of the launch speed, the steady state and transient performance of the segmented combined continuous acceleration coil are analyzed using Maxwell simulation software. The launch performance of the combined coil with different axial lengths of 45 mm, 30 mm, and 15 mm is compared. The results show that the entire acceleration process is more stable and efficient when the combined coil length is 30 mm, the inner diameter is 18 mm, and the number of turns is 600.

This paper gives "designer usable" methods for predicting the dynamical behaviour of lightweight wood-joist floors covered with semirigidly attached wood-based sheathings of materials such as plywood or waferboard. Included are methods for predicting natural frequencies and root-mean-square (rms) acceleration under a defined forcing function. It is proposed that this rms acceleration be the criterion for estimating user perception based tolerance of a projected design solution in the domestic setting. Case studies suggest that the economic cost of producing more rational designs is small. Consideration is, at this stage, limited to floors that are rectangular in plan and contain no openings nor intermediate support partitions. Suggestions are made as to methods of building floors with acceptable vibrational performances, together with recommendations for further research. The active ground motion in Indonesia might cause a catastrophic collapse of the building which leads to casualties and property damages. Therefore, it is imperative to design the structural response of building against seismic hazard correctly. Seismic-resistant building design process requires structural analysis to be performed to obtain the necessary building responses. However, the structural analysis could be difficult and time-consuming. This study aims to predict the structural response includes displacement, velocity, and acceleration of multi-story building with the fixed floor plan using Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN) method. By varying the building height, soil condition, and seismic location in 47 cities in Indonesia, 6345 datasets were obtained and fed into the BPNN model for the learning process. The trained BPNN is capable of predicting the displacement, velocity, and acceleration responses with up to 96% of the expected rate.

Abstract:
The demand for robots has increased in the industrial field, where robots are utilized in tasks that require them to move through complex paths. In the motion planning of a manipulator, path planning is carried out to determine a series of the positions of robot end effectors without collision. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out trajectory planning to determine position, velocity, and acceleration over time and to control an actual industrial manipulator. Although several methods have already been introduced for point-to-point trajectory planning, a trajectory plan which moves through multiple knots is required to allow robots to adapt to more complicated tasks. In this study, a trajectory planning based on the Catmull–Rom spline is proposed to allow a robot to move via several points in a task space. A method is presented to assign intermediate velocities and time to satisfy the velocity conditions of initial and final knots. To optimize the motion of the robot, a time-scaling method is presented to minimize the margin between the physical maximum values of velocity and acceleration in real robots and the planned trajectory, respectively. A simulation is then performed to verify that the proposed method can plan the trajectory for moving multiple knots without stopping, and also to check the effects of control parameters. The results obtained show that the proposed methods are applicable to trajectory planning and require less computation compared with the cubic spline method. Furthermore, the robot follows the planned trajectory, and its motion does not exceed the maximum values of velocity and acceleration. An experiment is also executed to prove that the proposed method can be applied to real robotic tasks to dispense glue onto the sole in the shoe manufacturing process. The results from this experiment show that the robot can follow the 3-D curved contour in uniform speed using the proposed method.

Abstract:
Large-scale network plan optimization of resource-leveling with a fixed duration is challenging in project management. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) has provided an effective way to solve this problem in recent years. Although the previous algorithms have provided a way to accelerate the optimization of large-scale network plan by optimizing the initial particle swarm, how to more effectively accelerate the optimization of large-scale network plan with PSO is still an issue worth exploring. The main aim of this study was to develop an accelerated particle swarm optimization (APSO) for the large-scale network plan optimization of resource-leveling with a fixed duration. By adjusting the acceleration factor, the large-scale network plan optimization of resource-leveling with a fixed duration yielded a better result in this study than previously reported. Computational results demonstrated that, for the same large-scale network plan, the proposed algorithm improved the leveling criterion by 24% compared with previous solutions. APSO proposed in this study was similar in form to, but different from, particle swarm optimization with contraction factor (PSOCF). PSOCF did not have as good adaptability as APSO for network plan optimization. Accelerated convergence particle swarm optimization (ACPSO) is similar in form to the APSO proposed in this study, but its irrationality was pointed out in this study by analyzing the iterative matrix convergence.
