Full textThis research follows three directions which aim at reviewing the scholarship and debates about work in the services producing industries. The first direction assesses the specificity of work in services. Both the consequences of the service theory (productivity, "servuction") and the effects of the tertiarization upon the social structure (dualism, quality of job created) are examined. The second direction lays down four systems of tertiary employment. The typology rests on a factorial analysis and a examination on monographic works addressing supermarkets, banks and hospitals in the two countries. The third direction deals with the results of an international comparison. In this respect, the dissertation firstly provides statistical tools. Subsequently, it lays stress on similarities and differences in the structuration of tertiary employment in the two countries

Full textIn recent decades, there has been a great advancement in research in developing drugs from plants. Nevertheless, little significant care exists in the literature about the stable concentration of elements, as well as the activity concentration of 238U and 232Th decay products in plants used for this purpose in Brazil. The presence of stable elements and radionuclides in plants constitutes the pathway for their migration to humans, via uptake of tea or remedies made with medicinal herbs. Peperomia pellucida, whose popular name is erva de jabuti, is a plant known by its medicinal usages, such as healing and analgesic properties plus antibacterial and antifungal activities against food fungi. In this study, the elemental composition of Peperomia pellucida and surrounding soil samples collected in the Botanical Garden in Rio de Janeiro was determined; the elemental concentration in the alcoholic extract and infusion processes of dry plants was also determined. The elemental concentration of As, Ba, Br, Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, K, La, Lu, Na, Nd, Rb, Sb, Sc, Sm, Ta, Tb, Th, U, Yb and Zn was determined in the leaves, aerial parts, including leaves, stems and roots of Peperomia pellucida, in their extracts obtained by maceration and infusions and in the surrounding soil by the Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA). The analytical methodology used to determine the elements Cd, Hg and Pb was the Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS); the activities of 226Ra, 228Ra and 210Pb were carried out by gross alpha and beta counting, after radiochemical separation. The quality of the obtained results was assured by the analyses of the certified reference materials IAEA-336 Lichen, IAEA-Soil-7, IAEA-326 Radionuclides in soil, NIST 1515 Apple Leaves and NIST 1542 Peach Leaves. The relative standard deviations and the relative errors obtained in these analyses indicated good precision and accuracy of the results. The essential oil, ethanolic and hexane extracts of Peperomia pellucida were tested for antifungal activity against Aspergillus flavus in vitro on Petri plates. The antifungal activity was based on the inhibition zone and IC50 values against the pathogen on Petri plates assays. Also, the essential oil chemical composition was determined by GC-MS.

Full textThe concept entrepreneurship can be defined as the ordinary individual who does extraordinary things which other ordinary individuals hesitate to do. The act of doing is a distinctive element of the entrepreneur. Considering the level of unemployment, the shortage of housing, uneven distributions of wealth and income, low level of education and high population growth rate in South Africa, the entrepreneur can play a major role. Entrepreneurs must equip themselves with knowledge, skills and the right attitude. In this article the focus is on various entrepreneurs to understand the world of entrepreneurship better.

Full textThe present study consists of using nuclear tools aiming to establish an alternative procedure to perform biochemistry analyses in whole blood to help the diagnosis of diverses pathologies. The aim is to determine the íons and metals concentrations in whole blood of human beings (specifically: Br, Cl, K e Na), using neutron activation analysis, providing the limits of normality, as well as, the matrix of the correlation for these elements. To perform this study, 283 samples of whole blood had been analyzed (of healthy volunteers selected from blood banks), resulting in the limits of normality for Br (0.0067 - 0.0263 gl-1), Cl (2.54 - 3.50 gl-1), K (1.33 - 1.89 gl-1) and Na (1.48 - 2.06 gl-1). These data are the first estimates for reference values in whole blood of the Brazilian population. These limits were evaluated in function of the sex and age for checking the biological differences. The behavior of these limits was also evaluated for different populations, i.e., in two distinct regions: Southeast (blood collection carried out in São Paulo city) and Northeast (blood collection carried out in Recife city). These places were chosen in function of the similarities (cities with high concentration people and industrialized). Futhermorer, a systematic study of these limits was also evaluated, in the period of 4 (four) years, in São Paulo city. This analysis was elaborated in function of time due the necessity to update these data, therefore they act as monitorial ambient. The estimation for Ca and Fe were also proposal for a set of 22 samples of whole blood.

Full textThe technological, material and economical transformations that have marked the last decades changed the way that people create, store and share information due to the progress achieved by ICT (Information and Communication Technology). The objective of this dissertation is to test the new paradigm of Cloud Computing, from which new virtual architectures are built as on-‐demand services, involving creative processes and new communication procedures in digital environments. To do so, the dissertation proposes the principle of AaaS (Art as a Service) as an update to the discussions about art and media, exposing the recent transformations operating in the boundaries of media derivatives. The research presents an interdisciplinary bibliography which transits between studies in communication, art and culture. In conceptual terms, it departs from the understanding of artmedia, proposed by Arlindo Machado (2009), from the concepts of world-‐culture and hypermodernity pointed by Gilles Lipovetsky and Jean Serroy (2010) and from the studies of the post-‐media condition, elaborated by art critic Rosalind Krauss (2000). The research corpus is composed by experiments on ambient, materiality and image but without holding on to specific media or genres. These are analysed, not only from a theoretical point of view, but also from a practical methodology which testing the cloud-‐map configuration in the second chapter. In line with these movements, we sought to collaborate with the network of critics, curators, artists, producers and institutions that have launched a new view on the theme, identifying the confluences and incompatibilities between the diverse fields involved
