Abstract:
ABSTRACT AACSB International has been through a transformational process since 2000 expanding its focus as solely a business school and accounting accreditation body to a broader member services organization. Business and accounting accreditation remain cornerstones of the mission of the organization but its expanded services in support of business schools and accounting program are designed to enhance the value of AACSB accreditation and to foster continuous improvement on a global basis. This paper provides an overview of the different areas of AACSB's activities and outlines current initiatives that will influence the organization's activities for the next 10 to 20 years.

Abstract:
AbstractProgrammatic learning goals serve as the foundation for an educational institution’s curriculum design and assurance of learning processes. The purpose of our study is to determine the relevance or alignment of undergraduate business school learning goals. We identify the learning goals of US undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-International (AACSB) and determine the extent to which the goals are aligned with (a) evidence-based competencies that are needed for managerial success (including the ‘Great Eight’ and the ‘hyperdimensional taxonomy’) and (b) content areas identified in AACSB’s Eligibility Procedures and Accreditation Standards for Business Accreditation. We found that learning goals conform to AACSB Standards and evidence-based managerial competencies, but goals are most closely aligned with AACSB Standards, followed by the Great Eight, and the hyperdimensional taxonomy, respectively. We discuss the implications of our findings with respect to business schools’ assurance of learning processes and provide recommendations for AACSB, business schools, the broader academy, and future research.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The primary purpose of this research is to identify the competitiveness position of Indonesian private business schools in the ASEAN region in facing ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. This research also tries to identify strategies for Indonesian private business schools in facing the era of ASEAN Economic Community. SWOT analysis is used as the base of this research. AACB's accreditation standards are use for determining factors driven the most to the competitiveness of Indonesian private business schools, while five factors of students' choice are used to determine the strongest factor that influence ASEAN students' business school choice. Questionaires were distributed to Indonesian private business schools' lecturers and business school students in ASEAN region. After the data was gathered, AMOS Software is used to provide Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Path Diagram. Results from this study shows that Indonesian private business schools are in the Cell 3 of SWOT analysis diagram. "Participant Standards" is the factor that drives the most to the competitiveness of Indonesian private business school and "Overall Reputation" is the strongest factor that influences ASEAN students' business school choice. The research shows that Indonesian should support turnaround -oriented strategies by fulfilling AACSB's Participants Standards and improving their reputation in the ASEAN region.

Full text
Abstract:
Artemisia annua is an important medicinal plant producing the majority of the antimalarial compound artemisinin. Jasmonates are potent inducers of artemisinin accumulation in Artemisisa annua plants. As the receptor of jasmonates, the F-box protein COI1 is critical to the JA signaling required for plant development, defense, and metabolic homeostasis. AaCOI1 from Artemisia annua, homologous to Arabidopsis AtCOI1, encodes a F-box protein located in the nuclei. Expressional profiles of the AaCOI1 in the root, stem, leaves, and inflorescence was investigated. The mRNA abundance of AaCOI1 was the highest in inflorescence, followed by in the leaves. Upon mechanical wounding or MeJA treatment, expression of AaCOI1 was upregulated after 6 h. When ectopically expressed, driven by the native promoter from Arabidopsis thaliana, AaCOI1 could partially complement the JA sensitivity and defense responses, but fully complemented the fertility, and the JA-induced anthocyanin accumulation in a coi1-16 loss-of-function mutant. Our study identifies the paralog of AtCOI1 in Artemisia annua, and revealed its implications in development, hormone signaling, defense, and metabolism. The results provide insight into JA perception in Artemisia annua, and pave the way for novel molecular breeding strategies in the canonical herbs to manipulate the anabolism of pharmaceutic compounds on the phytohormonal level.
