Abstract:
The acceleration of globalization driven by the massive development of information and communication technology in all sectors of human life has changed human attitudes and lifestyles. This change then creates an awareness that creative and innovative human resources are more reliable than just industrial strength. This awareness encourage the birth of a creative economy that focuses on industries based on creativity and talent. Indonesia’s creative economy has entered the digital economy era. Basically, Indonesia is a potential country in the Creative Economy, but has problems with global marketing. The creative economy focuses on goods and services based on talent and expertise with an orientation towards overcoming unemployment problems and encouraging the development of companies based on the economic potential of a region. The element of the creative industry is a combination of intellectuals with art, technology or business that work in a synergy. One of the driving forces of Indonesia’s creative economy is MSMEs. Marketing problems through new business forms such as startups open up special opportunities for MSME business entities that can take advantage of e-commerce models that provide direct buying and selling services on online website or act as shopping center service providers

Abstract:
This article studies the nature of Peru-United States relations during the period 1963–1975 through an analysis of the dispute over the potential expropriation of the US-owned International Petroleum Company. The United States government implemented a tough policy towards the first government of Fernando Belaúnde – who sough a “special” relation with the Unites States –characterized by the threat of economic sanctions if the Peruvian government did not solve the issue in favor of the company. The threat of the Hickenlooper Amendment, which sought to penalize countries that expropriated American owned businesses, was a clear sign of this. Once the company was expropriated by the Revolutionary Government of the Armed Forces in 1968 the American government was ironically forced to follow a more flexible approach, as the new military regime sought to diversify its bilateral relations in the bipolar context of the Cold War. The American policy of supporting the IPC had negative long-term effects fo American interests in the region, as it accelerated the overthrown of Belaúnde and ushered in the arrival of a military junta which sought a more independent foreign policy. A country that had been solid American ally camp since the end of World War II had become a nonaligned nation.

Abstract:
This paper begins by introducing what other researchers have learnt on the subject of technology-based entrepreneurs and their start-ups. We coined the new term technopreneurs to denote this special type of entrepreneurs. The metaphor of an airplane taking off from a runway is used to describe the precarious state of a high-tech start-up company. Three new cases of technopreneurs, Sim Wong Hoo of Creative Technology, Robin Lau of Excel Machine Tools and Henry Yuen of Gemstar Development, whose businesses took off recently were investigated with the aim of finding the enabling forces for the successful take-off. Four enabling forces identified are the audacious technopreneurs, perceptive opportunities pursuers, core founding teams and enabling agents. Technopreneurs’ audacity are backed by their strong capabilities in relevant technologies.

Abstract:
Regardless of the type and size of the organization, they are confronted with both external and internal factors as well as impacts which create uncertainty in regards to achieving certain goals. The risk management of the company is determined by both how well risks are perceived and the intra-organizational interaction of workers under the influence of cultural values that may affect perceptions and attitudes towards risk management. Being an important element of the corporate governance system of any company, effective risk management allows for the acceleration of the decision-making process. The growth of competition during the unstable economic situation in the world takes a special character, which forces the company to look for new opportunities to optimize the risk management process and to offer its own ways of improving the performance of the company. Emotional intelligence can become a promising tool for developing a risk culture, primarily in those areas of business where the human factor plays a great role. The application of international standards and best practices in light of emotional intelligence will increase the company's stability in the market and achieve its goals.

Abstract:
Abstract The privatisation of state-owned companies is still on the agenda of many governments worldwide. One often stated goal in the privatisation process is the increase of efficiency of the company. The question is which factors do lead to an increase in efficiency and performance of a privatised company. Where are the fundamental differences between public and private companies in this respect? One goal of this paper is also to determine if other or additional variables influence the efficiency of privatised companies in transitional countries - in contrast to developed economies. Based on the research literature, a model was developed that displays all major forces and effects in the privatisation process. Two case studies of telecommunications companies in Germany and Romania are utilised to verify the model. It is expected that privatisation will lead to an increase of efficiency, but that the main thrust derives from competition. Regulation and organisational change will typically also increase the efficiency of the company. The variables “laws and policies” and “economic condition” are of special importance for privatisations in transition economies.

Regional proficiency is a critical capability in irregular warfare (IW). In preparation for increased engagement in irregular warfare, the Defense (DoD) and the Military Services made several significant improvements in developing regional proficiency. While the DoD is attempting to create a new capability in the majority of the Total Force, Special Forces was created to succeed in an IW environment. As a result of its design, Special Forces valued and developed regional proficiency long before this became topical in DoD. Oddly, the last decade of overseas contingency operations which spurred interest in regional proficiency in DoD overall has also threatened regional proficiency development in Special Forces. An analysis of Special Forces training and development reveals that the Special Forces primary means of developing regional proficiency is through deployment experience. While the Special Forces Groups are regionally aligned, several have consistently deployed outside of their Area of Responsibility (AOR) to support combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. A survey and a series of interviews were conducted to determine the state of regional proficiency interest in Special Forces. Through survey analysis, several trends were identified. With this information this thesis concludes with a suggested strategy to improve regional proficiency in Special Forces non-commissioned officers (NCOs).

Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) program conducted by the U.S. Army's John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (SWCS). It seeks to determine the most accurate and relevant method of testing potential Special Forces soldiers and officers. Thesis study focuses on the validity of the current personal attributes required in a Special Forces soldier and the current testing methods employed to measure the required attributes set forth by SWCS. It also explores the issue of an additional selection program for the potential Special Forces officer. This study demonstrates that the current attributes required in the potential Special Forces soldier and officer are valid. However it recommends two additional attributes that will enhance the profile of the Special Forces soldier. It also demonstrates that the current testing methods of SFAS do not sufficiently test all the required attributes. This thesis recommends nine additional testing methods that adequately test all the required attributes for a Special Forces soldier and officer. This thesis focus on the assessment and selection program of SFAS; it does not discuss standards that must be achieved by the potential Special Forces soldier and officer.

This thesis seeks to answer how leadership can unify the Norwegian Special Operation Forces and improve its organizational efficiency. From January 1, 2014, the two Norwegian special operations commands, Forsvarets Spesialkommando (FSK) and Marinejegerkommandoen (MJK), were joined in one service-like combatant command: Forsvarets Spesialstyrker (FS). FSK and MJK each have a long history, and their legacy and culture sit in their hearts. The two units are, in many ways, alike, but their differences have been highlighted when it comes to the future of the Norwegian Special Operation Forces. This thesis uses relevant literature, the authors’ personal experiences, and statistical analysis of precollected survey data to answer the research question. It offers an overview of the Norwegian Special Operation Forces’ history, maps the current organizational culture, and suggests a leadership approach to unify the two units and the newly established joint command staff in order to improve organizational efficiency. The aim is to provide recommendations to assist with the process of forging a highly capable Norwegian Special Operation Forces for the 21st century.

Abstract:

U.S. Army Special Forces (SF) are consistently called upon to work by, with, and through indigenous forces to conduct special warfare. Current SF doctrine reflects an increasing desire for SF operators to be culturally proficient in order to work closely with locals, advise foreign militaries, and build relationships with host-nation counterparts. Despite the doctrinal emphasis on cultural proficiency, SF doctrine offers little concrete direction as to how to become culturally competent, or how to measure levels of cultural proficiency. This thesis aims to provide insights into cultural competency by investigating academic literature surrounding culture, and by looking outside of SF at examples of cross-cultural competency from historic cases: the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in World War II, Military Transition Teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the McDonald’s restaurant franchise. By looking at historical examples of military operations and international businesses, SF can gain insight into the best practices and common pitfalls that come from working with foreign cultures. This thesis finds that cultural proficiency can be increased by following the best practices of the McDonald’s Corporation and the OSS, and by placing top-down emphasis on cultural training and normalizing that training at the tactical level.

Abstract:

In 2009, the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps started merging its two SOF units into one The Netherlands Maritime Special Operation Forces (NL MARSOF). This newly formed unit is envisioned as a unique mixture of traditional maritime special operations and national counter-terrorism capabilities. Even though the creation of NL MARSOF marks significant progress in the professionalization of Dutch maritime SOF, new challenges in determining its strategic utility and cultural differences between NL MARSOFs sub-units hamper its optimal development and effectiveness. Based on an organizational model of unit culture and a theoretical framework based on SOFs strategic utility, this research explored how NL MARSOF can better unify its culture and clarify its strategic utility. Governing document analysis, survey research, and interviews with key members of NL MARSOF revealed several shortcomings that should be addressed in order to improve NL MARSOFs effectiveness and ensure its survival during times in which the Dutch Ministry of Defense faces the largest budget cutbacks in its history. The survey results and interviews indicate that NL MARSOF is experiencing a sort of identity crisis. Even though NL MARSOF leadership has focused on (infra-)structural elements of the reorganization, it failed to define and communicate a clear mission supported by the majority of the community, and thus offered neither a sense of purpose nor sufficient guidance. This lack of a long-term vision set out in strategic direction now negatively affects the overall performance of NL MARSOF. The way forward is to get NL MARSOF members involved in the process of defining the units way ahead. Strategic management sessions will define the way ahead for NL MARSOF, thereby clarifying its strategic utility. These sessions are the vital first step in improving operational effectiveness. A working group on symbols and traditions will give NL MARSOF its much-needed professional face and provide the symbols (logos, insignias, traditions, and customs) to strengthen the shared system of beliefs and values and thus create a stronger unit culture. Finally, training courses in change management and team-building sessions will help smooth the transition to one NL MARSOF.

Abstract:
Distinguished Alumni Award Program author. RADM Edward Winters III, USN (Presented 14 March 11)
By their nature, special operations forces (SOF) are central to policy in a world-order dominated by low-intensity conflicts. Therefore, the proper use of SOF is essential. Based on published doctrine and decision making theory, this thesis develops a theory that defines misuse and provides a systematic framework for analyzing the use of SOF. Misuse occurs at the decision point. We have quantified the decision process and determined that misuse occurs when SOF are used while GPF have an absolute and comparative advantage, or, misuse occurs when SOF are not used while they have both an absolute and comparative advantage over GPF. The concepts of absolute and comparative advantage are crucial to our theory of the misuse of SOF. Absolute advantage is achieved if the expected value of conducting a specific mission outweighs the expected cost. Assuming that both forces have an absolute advantage, the force with the greatest expected value-to- expected cost ratio is sald to have the comparative advantage. Absolute and comparative advantage are the necessary and sufficient conditions for proper use and allow us to delineate specific types of errors. Through the use of four case studies, illustrative of four types of error, this thesis demonstrates a systematic method of considering the proper employment of SOF.

Full text
Abstract:
The paper discusses a system for the measurement and calibration of nanonewton forces and force vs. deformation curves of micro force sensors such as AFM Cantilevers. The system bases on an electromagnetic compensated microbalance whereas its control loop was modified to generate and measure the force at the same time without the need of an additional actuator. Thus, the concept is similar to the NIST Electrostatic Force Balance where the force is generated and measured based on a capacitor. To probe the micro force sensor under calibration, the balance pan is moved by feeding a defined current through the balance internal coil. Thereby the current is proportional to the acting force which was calibrated with milligram mass artifacts before. The movement of the balance pan as well as the position of the micro force sensor under test is measured with a special triple beam interferometer. Hence, the calibration of forces and force vs. deformation curves is traceable to the SI units mass and length. To compare our concept of force generation to the concept of PTB and KRISS an additional piezo actuator was integrated in the setup. Thus, we can alternatively push the micro force sensor under test onto the balance pan using the piezo. Measurement and calibration results will be presented and discussed. A standard deviation of < 1 nN is achieved for the measurement of constant forces. The stiffness (force vs. deformation curve) of a contact mode AFM cantilever was calibrated to be 0.26 N/m with a repeatability of 0.25 %. Thereby linearity deviations of < 1 nN were observed for this measurement. Due to the uncertainty of the contact parameters (contact angle and position as well as friction) between the AFM tip and the stylus mounted on the balance pan the combined uncertainty of the calibration is in the range 3 %.

Abstract:
The manufacturing of hard and refractory materials such as ceramics, glass or carbide poses particular challenges on tools and machines. The Sauer Limited a company of the DMG Mori Corporation has developed ultrasonic tool holders working in a frequency range from 15 to 60 kHz. The ultrasonic vibrations are superimposing the tool movement in the tool axis especially for the application on special materials. This technique causes a structural weakening in the contact area and facilitates the machining. For these special materials, a force reduction, mainly in drilling into carbide with diamond tools, of up to 30 percent is possible. This made the authors try to expand the application range of this method. To achieve evaluable results, the authors decided to start working with existing processes. This also makes it easier to understand the mechanism of the positive influence of the ultrasonic assistance. It is difficult to compare a grinding process of hard and brittle materials to the drilling of steel as these two operations are different in many ways. In the first case of investigation, the authors use tools with geometrically undefined edges, where as in the second case, the edges are geometrically defined. To get valid results of the tests, it has then been decided to investigate drilling. This manufacturing method anticipates the best results. The main target of the investigation is to reduce the cutting force. It is measured with a force measurement platform underneath the workpiece. Concerning the direction of the ultrasonic assistance, the authors expect lower cutting forces, longer endurance of the tool, a reduction of the burr height and a better surface quality in the drilling process. To verify the frequencies and the amplitudes, an FFT-analysis is performed. This analysis shows the increase of the damping. This raise depends on the infeed rate of the tool and thus reduces the amplitude of the cutting force.

Abstract:
Slowly varying motions and drift forces of a large moored ship in random waves at 35m water depth are investigated by an experimental wave basin study in scale 1:50. A simple horizontal mooring set-up is used. A second-order wave correction is applied to minimize “parasitic” long waves. The effect on the ship motion from the correction is clearly seen, although less in random wave spectra than in pure bi-chromatic waves. Empirical quadratic transfer functions (QTFs) of the surge drift force are found by use of cross-bi-spectral analysis, in two different spectra have been obtained. The QTF levels increase significantly with lower wave frequencies (except at the diagonal), which is special for finite and shallow water. Furthermore, the QTF levels frequencies at low frequencies increase significantly out from the QTF diagonal. Thus Newman’s approximation should preferrably not be used in these cases. Using the LF waves as a direct excitation in a “linear” ship force analysis gives random records that compare reasonably well with those from the cross-bi-spectral analysis. This confirms the idea that the drift forces in shallow water are closely correlated to the second-order potential, and thereby by the second-order LF waves.

Abstract:
Gas-liquid separation is typically performed in settling tanks using gravitational force, or in cyclones generating higher centrifugal forces by swirl generators. However, in some applications such as offshore platforms or subsea compression stations, further compactness of the separating units is important. The Rotary Separator Turbine, a special type of cyclonic separator, generates even higher centrifugal forces, which allows the design of very compact separators. Due to the complexity of the flow fields in this type of machine, Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analyses were used in the recent design of such a rotary separator. Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved for multiphase turbulent flows in multiple frames of reference. This paper describes basic functionality of the RST and concentrates on one particular analysis of the lip discharge geometry. In addition to the numerical study, an analytical model is presented for this particular flow.

The provision of communal services and their timely execution is one of the vital issues of importance for the functioning of large cities. The paper pays special attention to the provision of communal services in larger cities in the Republic of Serbia. Payment for these services is a particularly important segment in the functioning of the municipal system of cities, and the collection is entrusted to specially formed public utility companies, as is the case with Belgrade, for example in which the public utility company "Infostan - Technologies" has primary jurisdiction. payment of all communal services provided to the residents of Belgrade. The same principle of unified collection has been applied in some other cities in Serbia, such as Subotica, Nis, Kragujevac, Novi Sad and others

Abstract:
TVK, as one of the leader companies of chemical industry in Central-Europe, in 2000 decided to place their heat and electricity supply on new bases. The long term steam supply from Power Plant Tiszapalkonya seemed to be not secured due to restricted environmental regulation. TVK intended to extend its polyolefin production facility which has increased the steam demand. TVK decided to construct a boiler plant/power plant with the following requirements: • long-term, secure and economical steam supply meeting the entire steam demand of TVK supplied from a source other than its own, • an acceptable time frame for the implementation and the development of the project, • the lowest possible capital requirement (involvement of a professional investor), • in the case of electricity generation, it may only be carried out through cogeneration with heat, with the minimization of condensing electricity generation, with regard to the process of the opening of the electricity market. The power plant project has been realized through a project company established by TVK and North Hungarian Electricity Distribution Co. where the chemical company has 26%, the professional investor has 74% ownership. The construction of the power plant started at the beginning of 2002 and finished in 2004. The installed steam capacity of the project is 250 t/h the power output is 35 MW. The plant has been delivered by Siemens-Transelektro consortia based on turn-key EPC Contract. The plant consists of a Siemens SGT 600 (former GT10B) gas turbine with supplementary fired HRSG and a Siemens ST-6 steam turbine and three auxiliary boilers with 65 t/h steam capacity each. The paper to be presented shows the decision making process concerning the power plant investment. It describes the technical scheme of the project and outlines the special technical features of the steam supply arising from the unusual steam load of TVK especially during start-up, shut-down and forced outages of the olefin plants which requires high additional steam supply in short time. It shows the experiences of the first year of operation too, how the plant has been able to fulfill its design criteria.

Abstract:
The best way to prevent unplanned downtime of production machines is certainly adherence to the principles of preventive maintenance. In case of extremely difficult working conditions and the contaminated working environment of the machine, a major maintenance intervention is required. This involves not only the replacement of worn parts, but also design changes, the use of other materials or shapes, such as hydraulic cylinder seals. Such a major intervention often also presents a major logistical and organizational challenge. As such an example, the paper presents the reconstruction of an older special press for the production of molds for casting and is still of key importance for the production of the company. The challenge was to renovate a special hydraulic block with 63 hydraulic rollers mounted in a 9 x 7 matrix, which, in addition to the appropriate force for sand compaction in all molds, must also ensure flawless compression parallelism.

Abstract:
The entire world is facing with the impact and consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic, what is reflected in various spheres of social life. In the conditions of the crisis management, companies are forced to adapt to the new situation in order to survive on the market. Sales companies have had to make changes in their former business; namely in their organization, logistics, retail supply channels that are now oriented towards the online sales without contact when delivering to customers. The Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia has brought a Decision by which are regulated the working hours and the method of work in the trade business during the Coronavirus epidemic, according to which it is obligatory for all stores to organize their work in compliance with general anti-epidemic measures and special recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health. In the paper are listed and analyzed changes in the sales operations of the two companies due to the pandemic crisis; one company deals with the sale of agricultural machinery and the other with the sale of food products.

Abstract:
Customer loyalty is a fundamental aspect in the life of any company. In current times, when marketing is becoming increasingly personalized and relational, it is crucial to ensure that consumers remain interested in the products and services made available by the company. Faced with the abandonment of products or services, a scenario commonly known as churn , it becomes crucial to understand the reasons behind this phenomenon. For this purpose, companies use the most varied forecasting systems, systems that increasingly have greater levels of complexity. Taking into account that Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools evolve quickly, this article aims to understand which sectors of activity are most suitable for the application of machine learning in the context of predicting customer churn . To meet this objective, a systematic literature review was adopted taking into account the period 2020-2024. It is concluded that machine learning , applied in churn prediction models , is widely proposed by several authors throughout the analyzed period. The majority of studies resulting from this research focus on applications in the telecommunications sector, followed by the banking sector. It is also concluded that different methods are used in this context, but with a special focus on Random Forest (RF) .

Abstract:
Raw sewage water typically contains large amounts of solids and fibers. The transport of water comprising such impurities with centrifugal pumps requires a special impeller geometry, in order to avoid operational disturbances by clogging. Non-clogging sewage water pumps are equipped with impellers featuring a small number of blades. Single-blade impellers comprise the smallest number of blades and provide therefore the biggest cross sections of the flow channel. But there are also disadvantages which occur during pump operation, because the time-variant flow in such pumps results in periodic unsteady flow forces which affect the impeller and which produce strong radial deflections of it. To determine the oscillations of the pump rotor induced by the exciting forces a coupled solution of the flow field in the pump and the structural mechanics of the pump rotor is required. In the present paper simulations which accomplish different coupling methods of the fluid dynamics and the structural dynamics have been carried out. In a first approach an explicit partitioned coupling method with simple interchange of boundary conditions has been applied. This approach disregards the feedback of the structural analysis to the flow and the results comply only roughly to the measurements. In a second attempt a fully coupling of the fluid dynamics and the structural dynamics has been carried out. The simulations are coupled by sending the computed flow forces at each time step as the load to the solver of the structural mechanics and the computed deflection of the impeller acts as a deformation of the computational grid of the fluid volume. The impeller orbit curves obtained by this method compare much better to the measurements.
