Full textBased on an analysis of the default of the banks and regulation through credit ratings (and rating agencies), CDS models, Basel III, bail-In and capital insurance, we find that the characteristics of CDS make them a good candidate to forecast (and ideally prevent) the potential defaults of the banks. Indeed, thanks to the economics of CDS and results of empirical studies, we show that they are a good proxy of bank risks and that they did capture information changes more quickly than the credit ratings which remained relatively constant during 2007 and 2008.So, using a specific trigger based on CDS and the appropriate action, should the trigger be activated, we could prevent the default of a bank. And the understanding of contingent capital mechanism is of great interest to reach this objective which optimizes the monitoring implemented by banks as well as regulators

Full textIn manufacturing enterprises the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) approach has been considered as an essential solution for improving the product competitive ability. It aims at providing a shared platform that brings together different enterprise systems at each stage of a product life cycle in or across enterprises. Although the main software companies are making efforts to create tools for offering a complete and integrated set of systems, most of them have not implemented all of the systems. Finally, they do not provide a coherent integration of the entire information system. This results in a kind of "tower of Babel", where each application is considered as an island in the middle of the ocean of information, managed by many stakeholders in an enterprise, or even in a network of enterprises. The different peculiarities of those stakeholders are then over increasing the issue of interoperability. The objective of this thesis is to deal with the issue of semantic interoperability, by proposing a formal semantic annotation method to support the mutual understanding of the semantics inside the shared and exchanged information in a PLM environment

Lean Thinking main objectives is to improve a company’s production level, products quality, stock reduction, lead time reduction, as well as eliminating all types of waste. Innumerous technics are mentioned in this project report, as Just in Time, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, standard work ethics, organized work space, visual management technics and others. The project was developed in a traditional clothes confection factory, where it confronts the most usual issues in this sector. We refer to the low productivity, Lead Times excessively long, rework, a production guided to the product, etc. In the first phase, it was developed an exhaustive research on Lean Thinking, starting with the creation of a philosophy, development of techniques and tools. After analyzing and comprehending all concepts for application in an industrial environment, a critical analysis to the production system of the company was processed, with special attention to the tailor section. The objective was the implementation of production lines with a thought in Lean techniques, but as the internship move on, the implementation of the lines was not possible, so we simulated it on the Arena software and it's possible implementation in mode of achieving a change in production. In this analysis we identify all problems in that sector. Once the analysis was complete, we started implementing proposals for improvements, one of them was the change on the “now a days” layout, visual management, 5S program, quality control management and in line production or “fords production line”. After new tools were implemented we compared results and we noticed the rise of production – in case the lines were implemented – 47%, with reduction of the WIP in 64.7% and all so the improvement and rise of other areas. So we can conclude that there was difficulties changing the mentality on the owner and managers, because with no actual results they felt comfortable with the changes. with the simulation of the lines we can see the changes and the results are positive, leaving a future opportunities for implementation because they know what to wait for.
