Abstract:
Existence of outliers and structural breaks having mutually unknown nature, in time series data, offer challenges to data analysts in model identification, estimation and validation. Detection of these outliers has been an important area of research in time series since long. To analyze the impact of these structural breaks and outliers on model identification, estimation and their inferential analysis, we use two data generating processes: MA(1) and ARMA(1,1). The performance of the test statistics for detecting additive outlier(AO), innovative outlier(IO), level shift(LS) and transient change(TC) is investigated using simulation strategy through power of a test, empirical level of significance, empirical critical values, misspecification frequencies and sampling distribution of estimators for the two models. The empirical critical values are found higher than the theoretical cut-off points, empirical power of the test statistics is not satisfactory for small sample size, large cut-off points and large model coefficient. We have explored confusion between LS, AO, TC and IO at different critical values(c) by varying sample size. We have also collected empirical evidence from time series data for Pakistan using 3-stage iterative procedure to detect multiple outliers and structural breaks. We find that neglecting shocks lead to wrong identification, biased estimation and excess kurtosis. Abstract:
<p>Abstract. We consider the problem of estimating the intensity func- tion of a cyclic Poisson process. We suppose that only a single realization of the cyclic Poisson process is observed within a bounded 'window', and our aim is to estimate consistently the intensity function at a given point. A nearest neighbor estimator of the intensity function is proposed, and we show that our estimator is L2-consistent, as the window expands.<br />AMS 2010 subject classifications: 62E20, 62G05, 62G20.<br />Key words and phrases: cyclic Poisson process, cyclic intensity function, nonparametric estimation, nearest neighbor estimator, period, consis- tency, L2-convergence.</p>

Abstract:
The asymptotic solution to the problem of comparing the means of two heteroscedastic populations, based on two random samples from the populations, hinges on the pivot underpinning the construction of the confidence interval and the test statistic being asymptotically standard normal, which is known to happen if the two samples are independent and the ratio of the sample sizes converges to a finite positive number. This restriction on the asymptotic behavior of the ratio of the sample sizes carries the risk of rendering the asymptotic justification of the finite sample approximation invalid. It turns out that neither the restriction on the asymptotic behavior of the ratio of the sample sizes nor the assumption of cross sample independence is necessary for the pivotal convergence in question to take place. If the joint distribution of the standardized sample means converges to a spherically symmetric distribution, then that distribution must be bivariate standard normal (which can happen without the assumption of cross sample independence), and the aforesaid pivotal convergence holds. Abstract:
The present investigation is devoted to the study of the propagation of Rayleigh waves in a homogeneous, transversely isotropic, thermoelastic diffusive half-space subjected to stress-free, thermally insulated and (or) isothermal, and chemical potential boundary conditions, in the context of the theory of coupled thermoelastic diffusion. Secular equations for surface-wave propagation in the media being considered are derived. The surface-particle paths during the motion are found to be elliptical, but degenerate into straight lines in case where there is no phase difference between the horizontal and vertical components of the surface displacements. The phase velocity; attenuation coefficient; specific loss of energy; and the amplitudes of surface displacements, temperature change, and concentration are computed numerically and presented graphically to depict the anisotropy and diffusion effects. Some special cases of frequency equations are also deduced from the present investigation. Abstract:
The widespread of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) is of great concern in clinical settings worldwide. It is urgent to develop new therapeutic agents against this pathogen. This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic potentials of compound 62520, which has been previously identified as an inhibitor of the ompA promoter activity of A. baumannii, against CRAB isolates, both in vitro and in vivo. Compound 62520 was found to inhibit the ompA expression and biofilm formation in A. baumannii ATCC 17978 at sub-inhibitory concentrations in a dose-dependent manner. These inhibitory properties were also observed in clinical CRAB isolates belonging to sequence type (ST) 191. Additionally, compound 62520 exhibited a bacteriostatic activity against clinical clonal complex (CC) 208 CRAB isolates, including ST191, and ESKAPE pathogens. This bacteriostatic activity was not different between STs of CRAB isolates. Bacterial clearance was observed in mice infected with bioimaging A. baumannii strain 24 h after treatment with compound 62520. Compound 62520 was shown to significantly increase the survival rates of both immunocompetent and neutropenic mice infected with A. baumannii ATCC 17978. This compound also increased the survival rates of mice infected with clinical CRAB isolate. These results suggest that compound 62520 is a promising scaffold to develop a novel therapeutic agent against CRAB infections.

Abstract:
Abstract Characterization of digital X-ray imaging devices is very important because it can be used to measure and compare the performance of detectors used in Diagnostic Radiology. This characterization is usually made through the calculation of Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), Noise Power Spectrum (NPS) and Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE). These parameters, especially the DQE, are very important because they quantify the effect of spatial resolution, contrast and noise on Radiographic image quality (IQ). The IEC 62220-1-1:2015 International Standard provides comprehensive guidelines how to capture and analyze X-ray images to characterize digital X-ray detectors. A novel, fast and free MATLAB-based software was developed, named RAD_IQ, to calculate the Signal Transfer Property (STP), perform Noise Component Analysis (NCA), and calculate the parameters MTF, NPS & DQE of X-ray detectors based on the novel IEC 62220-1-1:2015 International Standard for General Radiography and IEC 62220-1-1:2007 for Digital Mammography. Our results were validated against well-established software products used for quantitative image analysis of digital X-ray detectors. The calculated parameters were within 5% difference compared to available software products. The conclusion of our study was that RAD_IQ can be easily used from Medical Physicists, Biomedical Engineers and researchers without any programming experience to characterize the performance of digital X-ray detectors used in Diagnostic Radiology.

Abstract:
A study of experimental data reveals that the bulk modulus of chalcogenides and pnictides based chalcopyrites (AIIBIVC2 V and AI BIIIC2 VI) can be explained by a simple scaling rule that rely only on the crystal ionicity, ionic charge product, and the melting temperature. PVV theory of crystal ionicity, temperature dependence of elasticity and product of ionic charge theory are taken into account for the study. Based on this result, a simple microhardnessbulk modulus relation is applied to evaluate the microhardness of the complex compounds; which correspond well with the experimental data and other published results. The proposed findings support in the modeling of emerging semiconductor materials and even understanding of their mechanical properties for optoelectronics, photovoltaic, electromagnetic (EM) screening, and spintronic applications. Abstract:
Abstract Background- Pancreatic cancer (PanCa) is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer and its incidence rate is continuously increasing every year. It is expected that by 2030, PanCa will become the 2nd leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States due to the lack of understanding of the complexity of disease, early diagnostic methods, and extremely poor survival. Despite great advancements in biomedical research, there are very limited modalities available for the early detection of PanCa and its treatment. Thus, understanding of disease biology and identification of newer diagnostic and therapeutic modalities are high priority research in the field. Our group has identified Thyroid Receptor Interacting Protein -13 (TRIP13) as an oncogenic protein which contributes to early events of PanCa. Methodology- High dimensional omics and structural elucidation of TRIP13 was conducted using publicly available databases like Consurf, Phosphosite, GTEx and GEPIA2. Molecular biology techniques were applied to cross validate all our bioinformatics data. qPCR, immunoblotting and IHC analysis was performed in progressive PDAC cell lines and human tissues to decipher the expression level of TRIP13 in various pathological staging including functional enrichment analysis using Linkdomics. Results- The structural elucidation analysis revealed that most of the functionally exposed residues, phosphorylation and ubiquitylation sites situated at AAA domain of TRIP13. As compared to normal, TRIP13 is significantly over expressed in pancreatic tumor samples. Pathological staging 2 and 1 (early stages) showed relatively higher expression of TRIP13 as compared advanced stage. Of the total 7 isoforms of TRIP13, only one isoform (TRIP13-001) has shown the over expression in pancreatic tumor samples and shown association with poor survival. In correlation studies, TRIP13 has shown positive association with other pancreatic cancer biomarkers (CEACAM5, S100A4, MUC1, MSLN, CA125). The functional enrichment analyses suggest that TRIP13 is involved in important patho-physiological pathways like DNA repair, viral carcinogenesis, cellular senescence, and cell cycle. Our wet lab experiments also support our computational biology observation. Conclusion- This integrated computational biology study suggests a potential role of TRIP13 in pancreatic cancer progression via modulation of important oncological pathways. Wet lab experimentations also validated the involvement of TRIP13 in pancreatic cancer progression. TRIP13 expression may be associated with patient prognosis. Thus, its inhibitory small molecules can be useful for boosting pancreatic cancer therapies in clinical settings. Abstract:

Abstract:
Introduction. Polesie horses belong to the group of local populations that are formed under the strong influence of natural conditions. Although the exact date of the beginning of the breeding of aboriginal horses in Polesie is unknown, it has been established that from ancient times this area was inhabited by Slavic land-slave tribes, who were also engaged in horse breeding. It is known that Polesie horses for a long time were bred "in themselves" in terms of feeding mostly roughage, poor maintenance and overload. This led to a decrease in their size, the appearance of exterior-constitutional features and at the same time developed high adaptive qualities, unpretentiousness, indefatigability in work [2, 3]. In Ukraine, research on the state of the Polesie horse population was not conducted until 2019. To date, several expeditionary surveys of the Ukrainian Polesie have been conducted in order to find typical representatives of the Polesie population of horses, which in constitution and exterior are close to the representatives of the breed described in the literature earlier [8]. The aim of the research. To study the main characteristics of the Polesie population and to develop a target standard of the main features of horses. Materials and methods of research. The materials for the research were literary and scientific sources that contain information about the horses of the Belarusian Polesie and the results of their own research, which were conducted in the stable "Shcherbaty Tsugli" (Kyiv region). Taking into account traditional and modern methods of evaluation of horses, the parameters of input information were analyzed and substantiated to determine the main characteristics of the Polesie population: type, measurements, linear features of exterior, movements and temperament, 10-point evaluation of exterior type and constitution. rating scale and characteristics of work productivity (level of nervous balance, endurance, ability to cooperate with the rider). The exterior of the horses of the Polesie population was described according to 32 linear indicators. A special form has been developed for data collection, which includes measurements, linear features and a score. The main measurements of the body of horses (mares) were taken: height at the withers, chest girth, wrist girth. Comparative analysis of measurements of modern horses of Ukrainian Polesie with the animal population of the Belarusian part of the region (Western and Eastern Polesie) and the first detailed description during the Soviet Union was carried out using literary sources [1, 2, 3]. Research results. A survey of horses of the Polesie population was conducted on the basis of the the stable "Shcherbaty Tsugli", where 15 horses are currently kept, including: 7 mares and 5 foals of the current year of birth. It was established that the type of surveyed livestock suited to the primary (original) type: proportional head with expressive eyes; neck output average; withers average; straight shoulder; back and loins medium, straight; croup normal, slightly lowered, on the hind limbs, sickle hocked easily expressed; hoof horn dense and strong; the constitution is dry and strong, the structure of the body is harmonious, the muscles are well developed, the tendons are well developed, strong [2]. Most horses are black or black-roan(53%), bay (33%), gray (7%) and chestnut (7%). Some horses have a strap on their back and zebra bars on the legs. By temperament - animals react calmly to external stimuli and do not show any aggression towards humans. It should be noted that the available breeding stock showed good endurance - this year there was a 10-day horse trek for a distance of 350 km. A comparative analysis of measurements of mares of the modern population of Ukrainian Polesie with those kept in Belarus and the described Polesie horses in the 50s of the last century was carried out [1, 2]. According to the average measurements, the horses of the Ukrainian population are slightly lower in height at the withers by 4.3 cm (p < 0.001), but according to other measurements the difference is insignificant and unlikely: the chest circumference is 1.1 cm narrower and the wrist circumference is 0.1 cm compared with Belarusian [1, 2]. In terms of chest circumference, the horses of the Belarusian and Ukrainian populations predominate by 6.9 and 5.8 cm, respectively, of the animals described in the last century, which may be due to the improvement of the forage base and changes in the conditions of use. Taking into account the above, it can be concluded that despite the use of the method of crossing with other breeds in the past, horses of both Ukrainian and Belarusian Polesie have preserved a similar exterior-constitutional type. The same opinion is held by other researchers, who believe that only those animals that had a certain size and exterior features could adapt to the conditions of Polesie [1, 4, 5, 8]. Based on the results of our research and analysis of literature sources, the target standard for horses of the Polesie population was developed. According to the developed standard, horses of the Polesie population should be short, bony, with a pronounced original or light type, dry strong constitution, with an elongated body shape and well-developed joints. Desired color: bay, brown, roan and mouse. Allures are medium in width, but uniform and balanced. It should be noted the importance of taking into account when selecting horses in the reproductive composition of such a feature as temperament. It must be balanced and non-aggressive. This is important for the further development of equestrian tourism in the region and for the future use of horses in the Polesie population. Conclusions. According to the assessment of horses of the Polesie population, which were selected as a result of the expeditionary survey, it was established that the study of animals by type corresponds to the primary (original) type. By color - most horses are black, roan and bay. The studied herd of horses was characterized by good development of the main part of the body, dry and strong constitution, sufficient development of muscle tissue and a calm balanced temperament. The available breeding stock also showed good endurance during long-distance horseback riding. The mares of the Ukrainian Polesie were 4.3 cm (p < 0.001) inferior to the horses of the Belarusian part in height at the withers, but no significant difference was found in other measurements. An important stage in the recovery of the Polesie population of horses is the development of the target standard for the organization of effective selection of mares and stallions. The standard consists of a description of the desired type, basic colors, measurements, exterior features, movements and temperament. This will make it possible to effectively select representatives of this population.
