Abstract:
Present research paper is an attempt to examine the dynamics of snow cover by using Normalized Difference Snow Index (NDSI) in Gori Ganga watershed, Kumaun Himalaya, Uttarakhand (India). For the study of snow cover of Landsat satellite imageries of three different time periods like Landsat TM of 1990, Landsat TM of 1999 and Landsat TM 2016 were used. Geographical distribution of snow cover reveals that in 1990 about 30.97% (678.87 km2), in 1999 about 25.77% (564.92 km2) area of the Gori Ganga watershed was under snow cover while in 2016 the snow cover was found only 15.08% (330.44 km2). These data suggest that due to global warming about 348.43 km2 snow cover of Gori Ganga watershed has been converted into non-snow cover area at an average rate 13.40 km2/year during the last 26 years.

Abstract:
Challenges such as climate change, water and environment or even food security were not considered under the traditional security paradigm. In 1994, the UN Human Development report brought to the forefront the need to shift focus to the concept of people‟s security and identified several essentials including economic, health and environment security. Water, which lies at the core of these essentials did not find adequate prominence and while „water wars‟ was under the subject of academic scrutiny, the concept of water security as a global challenge did not receive adequate attention. Currently, water and its inextricable relationship to energy, food and development, and political stability is placed at the core of every security debate. In 2015, leaders at the WEF in Davos ranked water as the No.1 risk to societies. The paper explores how a change in attitude is required from policy makers to the end user.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Using appropriate electrodeposition conditions, it is shown that the structural and magnetic properties of arrays of Co and CoCu/Co nanowires can be controlled. The hcp c axis orientation can be oriented parallel or perpendicular to the wire axis simply by changing the pH of the electrolytic solution and/or deposition rate. This selected orientation of the c axis leads to a drastic change in overall magnetic anisotropy and is promising for the fabrication of spin valves structures by electrodeposition.

The Spanish of Central America is a variant which has frequently been excluded from both variationist and theoretical studies in linguistics. Many of its structural aspects have not been covered. In this study one of these structures with an informational function in the Spanish of Central America is addressed: cleft sentences. It is concluded that they have characteristics which do not coincide with existing descriptions.

Abstract:
Listeria monocytogenes may survive the typical process used to produce sausage such as pepperoni and hard salami that is made from uncooked meat. Studies were done to identify heat treatments that could be applied during sausage-making to inactivate the organism to undetectable levels. Initial studies with beaker sausage revealed that heat treatments of 51.7°C for 8 h or 57.2°C for 4 h reduced L. monocytogenes counts by >2 log10 CFU/g, but for each treatment the organism was detected by enrichment in one of two samples. Heating beaker sausage to an internal temperature of 62.8°C inactivated listeriae to undetectable levels. Studies with pepperoni revealed that heating sausage at 51.7°C for 4 h after fermentation but before the drying cycle killed most L. monocytogenes, but the organism was occasionally detected in samples during drying. Heating pepperoni at 51.7°C for 4 h after the drying cycle completely inactivated L. monocytogenes in all samples. An additional study done to determine the fate of L. monocytogenes in beaker sausage made with and without lactic starter culture revealed that the organism could grow at 32.2°C in sausage batter during the fermentation period if the lactic starter culture was not added. The organism did not grow, but was reduced by about 1 to 2 log10 CFU/g during fermentation, in sausage made with lactic starter culture.

Abstract:
A health promotion and wellness survey questionnaire was sent to all 143 accredited medical schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Of the 120 responding schools, 29 (24.2%) offer health promotion programs and 91 (75.8%) do not; most programs began only recently (average 5.42 years). Nineteen schools plan to begin programs soon. Most emphasized in the programs is physical well-being and least emphasized is spiritual well-being. Over 50% of the schools offer these components: study skills (62.1%), support groups (62.1%), time management (58.6%), aerobics (55.2%), intramural sports (55.2%), and financial planning (51.7%). Most programs are administered by the Dean of Student Affairs, 48.3% have a budget, and 51.7% have an evaluation component. All schools with programs expressed an interest in developing a network to share information. Emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention throughout medical education is important, particularly as an approach to enhancing the doctor-patient relationship.

Abstract:
SummaryThis study was carried out in two medical facilities in Enugu, Nigeria, from September to November 2007. An interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from HIV-positive pregnant women accessing PMTCT (prevention of maternal-to-child transmission) services at the two centres. Ninety-two women were interviewed: 89 (96.7%) had disclosed their status, while 3 (3.3%) had not. Of the 89 women who had disclosed, 84 (94.4%) had disclosed to partners, 82 (92.1%) to husbands, 2 (2.2%) to fiancés, 18 (20.2%) to sisters, 13 (14.6%) to mothers, 10 (11.2%) to brothers, 10 (11.2%) to fathers and 10 (11.2%) to priests. Fifty-two (58.4%) gave emotional support as the reason for disclosure and 46 (51.7%) gave economic and financial support as reasons. Fifty-six (62.9%) reported understanding from partner as a positive outcome and 44 (49.4%) reported financial support. Forty-six (51.7%) reported no negative outcome. Serostatus disclosure rate in this study was high with most women disclosing to their partners.
