Abstract:
This article is devoted to the personnel of the 3rd Special Infantry Brigade, a unit that was part of the Russian Expeditionary Corps in France. Despite the presence of works dealing with general issues of the formation and combat path of Russian troops in France, the personnel composition of the units has not been fully studied. Examining cases presented in central archives, the authors analyze over eight thousand records, which allows them to get an idea of the personnel characteristics of a specified military unit. Based on socio-demographic and professional characteristics, they compile a generalized portrait of soldiers and officers of the 3rd Special Infantry Brigade. The personnel information presented in the work is grouped into tables and concerns the ranks called up from the territory of Perm Province, whose share was 25 % of the total number of the brigade. The authors conclude that officers who had combat experience were assigned to regiments, and those who did not take part in the battles received positions in the marching battalion. Most lower ranks belonged to the peasant class and had restrictions for military service for health reasons. Data on combat experience, education, and categories of conscription of military personnel make it possible for the authors to make assumptions about the combat effectiveness of the 3rd Special Infantry Brigade. Finally, the authors make conclusions about the features of the personnel, which are compared with the all-Russian trends of 1916–1917. At the same time, special attention is paid to the fact that the collective portrait of the personnel is typical of military units formed during the final period of the First World War.

Abstract:
Relevance lies in the need to preserve the historical truth about the events of the Great Patriotic War and one of its most important battles – the Battle of Kursk. Despite the significant historiographical groundwork, the generalization of the experience of fighting in the defense zone of the Central Front troops continues to be actively developed. The retrospective factography of participation in the battles of individual units and formations requires further clarification, researchers should pay attention to the restoration of the destinies and names of the heroes of the summer battles of 1943. Whose example continues to inspire the exploits of modern defenders of the Fatherland.Purpose. On the basis of documentary sources from the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, to reveal the specifics of the organization of defensive battles at Teplov heights by the forces of the gunners of the 3rd fighter brigade. Objectives: to identify and study archival materials about the defensive battles of the 3rd Fighter Brigade on the northern face of the Kursk Bulge; to note the role of gunners in deterring the offensive of German troops on July 5-12, 1943; to determine the behavior of individual servicemen who distinguished themselves during the summer battles, to characterize the problems of establishing their destinies.Methodology. During the research, the author adhered to the principles of objectivity and historicism. The information revealed in the sources was systematized and analyzed, allowing to reveal the problems of using artillery in defensive battles during the Battle of Kursk.Results. The generalization of the experience of combat operations of the 3rd Fighter Brigade during defensive battles on the northern face of the Kursk Bulge indicates a well-thought-out and successfully implemented tactics of using individual artillery units in the organization of anti-tank defense.Conclusion. An example of the courage and bravery of the soldiers of the 3rd fighter Brigade during the battles at Teplovsky Heights testifies to their high moral and volitional qualities, as well as the rational alignment of forces and means at the occupied defense lines, which ensured the successful fulfillment of the combat tasks assigned to the gunners.

Abstract:
The 3RIVE 3D pesticide application system, developed by FMC and Micro-Trak Systems Inc., allows to reduce the amount of pesticides used increasing their effectiveness. This innovative delivery platform converts the traditional high-volume application technology into a low-volume one thanks to the patented technology. The purpose of the work is risk assessment of the bifenthrin influence on the population health when consuming corn grown using the innovative 3RIVE 3D technology. Materials and methods. We calculated the stability indices of bifenthrin (the active ingredient of the Brigade 3Rive 3D, SC formulation) in corn grown using the innovative 3RIVE 3D technology (introduction into the soil with simultaneous sowing of corn seeds). Brigade 3Rive 3D, SC is used as an insecticide on corn crops with a maximum consumption rate of 1.2 l/ha, once. Research results and their discussion. When studying the dynamics of bifenthrin residual amounts in corn grown with the Brigade 3Rive 3D, SC formulation application using 3Rive3D technology, it was established that during the growing season the content of bifenthrin in corn gradually decreased and after 50 days in the ears of corn it was below the limit of quantitative determination of the method. The integral index of hazard when consuming pesticides contaminated food products (IIHCPCF) = ADD+С+ τ50 = 2+2+2 = 6 points (Table 2). That is, according to this index, bifenthrin can be attributed to compounds of the 3rd class of hazard (moderately hazardous compounds), since its moderate toxicity (ADD value) is combined with its moderate resistance in agricultural crops and the relative low corn amount in the diet of Ukrainians. Conclusions. It was established that according to State Standard 8.8.1.002-98 bifenthrin belongs to the 3rd class of hazard – moderately stable compounds. According to the value of integral index of hazard when consuming pesticides contaminated food products bifenthrin can be assigned to the 3rd class of hazard (moderately hazardous compounds). As the application of the Brigade 3Rive 3D, SC formulation using 3Rive3D technology for the protection of corn does not carry the risk of crops pollution and consumption of corn by the population, deterioration of the ecological situation, as well as it has significant agro-economic and population safety advantages, the application of pesticides using 3Rive3D technology is very promising and will be actively and widely implemented in the agricultural practice of Ukraine in the future.

Abstract:
The subject of the research is the figure of Leon Pachucki, a brigadier general of the Polish Army, who took part in World War I and the Polish-Russian War. The aim of the article is to present his military career, both in the Russian Army and later in the Polish Army. The text is based mainly on documents collected in the Central Military Archives, and on available literature supplementing the archival materials. On their basis, it was possible to analyze the stages of his military career, his achievements on the battlefields, his service in higher command positions in the interwar period and his social activities after retirement. He was a hero of the Polish-Russian War in 1920 – for his courage on the battlefield, he was awarded the Order of Virtuti Militari 5th class and the Cross of Valor. The future general was born in 1872 in Suwałki and as a youth he joined the Russian army. He served in this army until 1918, recently in the Russian corps in the Balkans. In spring that year he came to France, where he commanded the 3rd Rifle Regiment (Polish Army in France). Together with him, he came to Poland in April 1919 and took part in the Polish offensive in Volyn. At the end of June this year, he took the position of the commander of the infantry in the 1st Rifle Division of the General Haller's Army. Three months later, he became the commander of the XXV Infantry Brigade. As its commander, he showed courage on leading the defense of the locality of Pohrebyszcze at the turn of May and June 1920. In September 1921, he became the deputy commander of the Corps District No. IV Lodz, and in 1925 he took up a similar position in the Command of the Corps District No. IX Brest. After retiring in 1927, he moved to Lodz, where he died in 1932. It is worth adding, that he was the only one general of the army of the Second Polish Republic buried in this city before World War II.

Abstract:
The battles for the liberation of Oradia and Bihor from the Hortyst-German occupation involved a number Romanian Army divisions (the 3rd Mountain Brigade and Tudor Vladimirescu Brigade), as well as divisions of the Red Army and were particularly ferocious and long-lasting (5 September - 12 October 1944). Several offensives and counter-offensives of the Hungarian-German and Romanian-Soviet military divisions took place with the purpose of preserving/liberating the city of Oradea, the administrative centre of Bihor County, a critical land and air communications hub for the entire western region (roads, railways, airport). In the battles for Oradea, the region experienced several days of power vacuum, with the fascist troops retreating from the city in order to prepare for a counter-offensive, while the Romanian-Soviet troops were regrouping outside the city for a decisive offensive (25 September - 28 September). At the same time, three citizens of the city, i.e. Andrei Silviu – a Romanian ethnic, a former civil servant with the City Hall and reserve officer of the Romanian Army, who had a local Israeli wife, Nicolae Rajkovič - a Romanian citizen of Serbian origin who was a local barber, and Papp Tibor – a civil servant with the City Hall, a Romanian citizen of Hungarian origin, established a “civil guard” comprising 45 citizens of Oradea with different nationalities, who were armed with rifles from a City Hall warehouse. The role of the guard was to maintain peace in the city and to defend the life and property of the citizens, primarily the workshops and shops in the city against the lumpenproletariat who were prone to looting. The return of fascist occupiers in the city leads to the arrest of the three guard organisers. They are brought in front of a military court and sentenced to death for organising “partisan troops behind the front”. Andrei and Rajkovič are shot in the Oradia Fortress three days before (9 October) the liberation of the city (12 October), while Papp is saved by his family and sentenced to 15 years in prison, due to the fact that he was a Hungarian ethnic. Although historians and patriotic local councillors proposed (in 2007, 2013, 2015, and 2020) that the two murdered locals should be honoured as heroes of the city, the political parties or coalitions that held the majority in the Oradea City Council (the Democratic Party (PD) + the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), the National Liberal Party (PNL) + the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR)) kept rejecting the initiative. This year, several cultural and patriotic organisations will bring up the proposal once again, since the idea behind it still makes a valid point.

Abstract:
The article presents the cooperation of the National Fire Brigades, Medical Services and the Police at the scene of the biggest railway catastrophe during a few dozen years. The accident occurred on 3rd March, 2012 in Szczekociny (Poland). Several public services of various ranges of competence performed their duties with an aim of achieving common aims such as: aiding surviving victims, securing the scene and physical evidence, as well as restoring the state from before the catastrophe. A short description of the situation during that evening and recollection of the course of action shows in this tragic context not only the effort and tremendous work of the services but also the areas that still require additional attention such as, for example, isolating the scene, setting up a media point or communication between services at the incident scene.

Abstract:
The paper examines the role that Brigadier General Benjamin Adekunle, otherwise referred to as the Black Scorpion or Benjy played during the Nigerian Civil War. Brigadier-General Adekunle served as the Commander of Garrison, the 3rd Marine Commando Division of the Nigeria Army. The study is set to achieve two main objectives. The first is to put into historical perspective, Benjamin Adekunle’s birth, childhood, and military career; the second is to analyze the two sides of Benjy during the civil war, and third, his portrayal as both a hero and villain during the civil war. The study relied on secondary sources of data from textbooks, peer-reviewed journals, internet documents, newspapers and individual commentaries on Benjamin Adekunle. The study reveals that Adekunle was described as a villain because he explored some unconventional and brutal war strategies against Biafrans, who were hitherto Nigerians and so by extension, his fellow countrymen. As a hero,he had an unrepentant strategy to rescue Nigeria from disintegration. The study recommends that while winning is the ultimate goal of any war, officers must be humane and reduce collateral damage in the course of duty.

Abstract:
The management of a territory is a complex process, involving a number of different operators, administrators and decision makers. Territory management requires accessing and processing a wide range of heterogeneous and multi-dimensional GI (GI). Within a typical scenario, the process involves departments at public administrations responsible for urban planning, environmental control, infrastructure planning and maintenance. Additionally units such as civil protection, fire brigades also play a vital role when dealing with emergencies. Data to be managed range from alphanumerical information, stored within enterprise-level databases, to satellite imagery, vector data and information coming from on-site sensors. It is acknowledged that creating an infrastructure capable to provide access to such a range of information requires, an integrated system approach, both from a technological and from a procedural point of view. This article illustrates the benefit of adopting a system approach which makes use of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) and 3D geobrowsers to provide an answer to the aforementioned shortcomings. To do so the article presents the client-server platform designed to support decision makers and experts from local or regional administrations in the process of managing their territory. The infrastructure developed allows a large number of concurrent applications to access geographical data in a fully interactive way, within a 3D environment, thus providing support to territorial and environmental management tasks. The work illustrates also the results of the application of the infrastructure within a real-life scenario, thus providing the chance to discuss of implications of adopting such an approach.

Abstract:
Digital and representation: the second line and the forgotten castle of FiumedinisiThe Belvedere Castle of Fiumedinisi (ME) belongs to that historical heritage of Sicily characterized by abandoned and forgotten military architecture. Along the Ionian coast the defensive problem has been particularly felt over time, due to the proximity of the Turkish coast, the Middle East and the African one. The first defensive line was the coastal one, defined by principals placed on the sea in a strategic position for direct control of the coast. They were part of this group: the Maniace castle of Syracuse, that of Augusta, of Brucoli, of Catania, of Acicastello, the Tocco of Acireale, Schisò in the territory of Giardini, Capo Sant'Alessio, the Saracen Tower of Roccalumera, Capo Grosso in Ali , San Salvatore in Messina. Along the eastern side of the Peloritani mountains from Calatabiano to Messina, the island's defensive strategy also included a second line of fortifications, which controlled a more distant horizon from their position. These include the castle of Calatabiano, Taormina, Castelmola, Forza d’Agrò, Savoca, Fiumedinisi, Scaletta Zanclea, Santo Stefano di Briga, Matagrifone. Among them, the Belvedere castle of Fiumedinisi, at a critical distance from the village, so as to be in a state of neglect, among those listed is that which is in the worst conditions. In stark contrast to the dignity and history of the site and territory of Fiumedinisi, dating back to the Greek period. In this work we propose the survey of the castle with digital, photogrammetric technologies, Structure From Motion (SFM) and dense matching, to arrive at a 3D documentation and graphic drawings, considering that to date there are no significant scientific surveys and representations of this abandoned fortress.
