Abstract:
BackgroundCervical cancer is the third most common cancer in women with risk factor of smoking, high parity, long term use of oralcontaception that are associated with chemical carcinogenesis. Chemical carcinogenesis require biotransfor-mation of lipophilicsubstrates to hydrophilic metabolites, therefore facilitating their secretion from the human body. Cytochrome P450 (CYP) is one ofgenes that have important role in this process. Benzo[α]pyrene and estrogen have a common biotransformation process which ismetabolized by CYP, particularly CYP1A1. The objectives to identify the frequency and distribution of CYP1A1 gene polymorphismin squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the cervix.MethodsThis is an analytical descriptive study with cross sectional approach. CYP1A1 gene polymorphism (3801T/C or Ile462Val) wasanalyzed using PCR-RFLP method followed by gel electrophoresis.ResultsCYP1A1 gene polymorphisms (3801TC) in squamous cell carcinoma were 50% heterozygote T/C, 36% wild-types T/T and 14%homozygote C/C. CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms (3801TC) in adenocarcinoma were 60% heterozygote T/C and 40% wild-types T/T.CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms (Ile462Val) in squamous cell carcinoma were 97.2% heterozygote Ile/Val, and 2.8% homozygoteVal/Val. CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms (Ile462Val) in adenocarcinoma were 100% heterozygote Ile/ValConclusionThe most common type of CYP1A1 gene polymorphism (3801TC and Ile462Val) in squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinomaof the cervix were heterozygote.

Full text
Abstract:
Conventional wisdom suggests that children who develop inflammatory bowel disease are at particularly increased risk of osteopenia and osteoporosis because of the effects of disease activity, nutritional factors and medications, especially glucocorticoids, during critical periods of bone growth. In this study, Bernstein et al endeavoured to determine the prevalence of reduced bone mineral density (BMD) in a population-based cohort of women with onset of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) before 20 years of age. A secondary goal of the study was to compare estimates of the rates of osteopenia and osteoporosis using two different techniques: the more conventional areal BMD and volumetric BMD. The latter measure is designed to account for the reduction in bone size that can occur because of growth delay associated with childhood IBD. On the other hand, areal BMD is said to underestimate true bone density. The authors identified a cohort of patients using their research registry of IBD patients in Manitoba. Women who developed IBD before 20 years of age and who were younger than age 45 at the time of the study were invited to complete a questionnaire and undergo dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Of the 148 subjects who were approached, 70 were eligible and agreed to participate. More than 80% of the participating subjects had Crohn's disease (CD) and more than 80% affected had onset of disease after puberty. BMD did not appear to differ between the patients with prepubertal and those with postpubertal onset. Twenty-five of the 70 subjects had an areal T score less than -1 at one or more site. Only three had osteoporosis (T score less than -2.5). Individuals with a T score less than -1 had lower body weight and were more likely than other patients to have experienced amenorrhea in the year prior to DEXA testing. When T scores were adjusted for abnormalities in bone size, the mean volumetric T score was slightly but statistically significantly higher than the corresponding areal T score at each site.

Full text
Abstract:
The application of single solar array on high-altitude unmanned aircraft will waste energy because of its low conversion efficiency. Furthermore, since its energy utilization is limited, the surface temperature of solar array will rise to 70°C due to the waste solar energy, thus reducing the electrical performance of the solar array. In order to reuse the energy converted into heat by solar array, a hybrid power system is presented in this paper. In the hybrid power system, a new electricity-generating method is adopted to spread the photovoltaic cell on the wing surface and arrange photothermal power in the wing box section. Because the temperature on the back of photovoltaic cell is high, it can be used as the high-temperature heat source. The lower wing surface can be a low-temperature cold source. A high-altitude unmanned aircraft was used to analyze the performances of pure solar-powered aircraft and hybrid powered aircraft. The analysis result showed that the hybrid system could reduce the area of wing by 19% and that high-altitude unmanned aircraft with a 35 m or less wingspan could raise the utilization rate of solar energy per unit area after adopting the hybrid power system.

Abstract:
Taking the safe distance between two adjacent planes in the same airline into account, we give a model for the multiairline aeronautical ad hoc network (AANET). Based on our model, we analyze the plane’s degree distribution of any arbitrary AANET. Then, the expressions of the degree distributions of one single plane and the whole networks are both worked out and verified by the simulations, in which we generate several random AANETs. Since our model is a reasonable abstraction of the real situation, the theoretical result we get is very close to the result of the real networks, which is also shown in the simulations.

Abstract:
Aim.We investigated the predictors of tissue Doppler left ventricular (LV) longitudinal indexes in a healthy Italian pediatric population and established normative data and regression equations for the calculation ofzscores. Methods and Results.A total of 369 healthy subjects aged 1–17 years (age of 6.4 ± 1.1 years, 49.1% female) underwent echocardiography. LV peak longitudinal velocity at systole (s'), early diastole (e'), and late diastole (a') was determined by tissue Doppler. The ratio of peak early diastolic LV filling velocity toe'was calculated. Age was the only independent determinant ofs'(β=0.491,p<0.0001) and the strongest determinant ofe'(β=0.334,p<0.0001) andE/e'(β=-0.369,p<0.0001). Heart rate was the main determinant ofa'(β=0.265,p<0.0001). Male gender showed no effects except for a weak association with laterals', suggesting no need of gender-specific reference ranges. Age-specific reference ranges, regression equations, and scatterplots for the calculation ofzscores were determined for each index.Conclusion.In a pediatric Italian population, age was the strongest determinant of LV longitudinal dynamics. The availability of age-specific normality data for the calculation ofzscores may allow for correctly detecting LV dysfunction in pediatric pathological populations.

Abstract:
Fractional Brownian motion with Hurst exponentH∈(1/2,1)is a good candidate for modeling financial time series with long-range dependence and self-similarity. The main purpose of this paper is to address the valuation of equity indexed annuity (EIA) designs under the market driven by fractional Brownian motion. As a result, this paper presents an explicit pricing expression for point-to-point EIA design and bounds for the pricing of high-water-marked EIA design. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the impact of the parameters involved in the pricing problems.

Abstract:
Sequencing of over 40 fungal and oomycete genomes has been completed. The next major challenge in modern fungal/oomycete biology is now to translate this plethora of genome sequence information into biological functions. Reverse genetics has emerged as a seminal tool for functional genomics investigations. Techniques utilized for reverse genetics like targeted gene disruption/replacement, gene silencing, insertional mutagenesis, and targeting induced local lesions in genomes will contribute greatly to the understanding of gene function of fungal and oomycete pathogens. This paper provides an overview on high-throughput reverse genetics approaches to decode fungal/oomycete genomes.
