Abstract:

AbstractTwo different samples of Ce3Rh4Ge4were synthesized from different starting compositions by melting of the elements in an arc-melting furnace followed by annealing sequences in a sealed tantalum ampoule in a muffle furnace. The structures of two different stacking variants were refined on the basis of temperature dependent single-crystal X-ray diffractometer data. At high temperature Ce3Rh4Ge4adopts the U3Ni4Si4type structure with strongly enhanced anisotropic displacement parameters for the Rh1 atoms. For the two different crystals, additional reflections start to appear at different temperatures. The first crystal showed additional reflections already at room temperature (stacking variant I) and the second one showed additional reflections emerging below 270 K (stacking variant II). Stacking variant I could be described with the (3+1)D superspace groupI2/m(α0γ)00;α=1/2a*,γ=1/2c*; (Z=2), 1252F2values, 48 variables, wR=0.0306 for the main and wR=0.0527 for 440 1storder satellite reflections, similar to Pr3Rh4Ge4. For stacking variant II the (3+1)D superspace group isImmm(α00)00s;α=1/2a*; (Z=2). The structure could be refined with 1261F2values, 53 variables and residuals ofwR=0.0331 for the main reflections andwR=0.1755 (R1obs=0.0788) for the 1storder satellite reflections, [a=406.2(1),b=423.7(1) andc=2497.1(1) pm]. The commensurate description could be transformed to a three-dimensional (3D) supercell with space groupPnmaandZ=4:a=812.5(1),b=423.7(1),c=2497.1(2) pm, 1261F2values, 69 variables andwR=0.0525. The relation of the U3Ni4Si4type structure, the (3+1)D modulated and the 3D supercells are discussed on the basis of group-subgroup schemes. Ab initio electronic structure calculations are in line with the diffraction experiments, revealing the lowest total energy for thePnmaphase.

The Central Meridian Longitude (CMLІІІ) and Io's phase (γIo) were calculated for each year from Radio Jove program, the results of CMLІІІ for year 2006 was A=(180-300)º,B=(15-239)º, C=(60-280)º, phase was A=(182-260)º,B=(40-109)º, C=(200-260)º, which were close to the theoretical values, longitude was A=(180-300)º, B=(15-240)º, C=(60-280)º and phase was A=(180-260)º,B=(40-110)º and C=(200-260)º.

Abstract:

In experiments with winter rape during 2004–2008, we examined the effectiveness of fungicides containing active ingredients based upon triazoles and SBI inhibitors (group A): flusilazole 250 g/l a.i., flusilazole 125 g/l a.i. + carbendazim 250 g/l a.i., and cyproconazole 120 g/l a.i. + carbendazim 300 g/l a.i. Fungicides based upon older and newer triazoles, strobilurins, and SDH inhibitors (group B) were also used: cyproconazole 80g/l a.i. + azoxystrobin 200 g/l a.i., prothioconazole 250 g/l a.i., prothioconazole 125 g/l a.i. + tebuconazole 125 g/l a.i., and boscalid 200 g/l a.i. + dimoxystrobin 200 g/l a.i. The application of group A fungicides against S. sclerotiorum during BBCH 65-69 growth stage had demonstratively higher effectiveness, while for group B the application date had no effect. The greening (or “stay-green”) effect only occurred with group B. The correlation coefficient for greening effect and yield was R = −0.3033 for applications during BBCH 61-65 while it was R= −0.3542 for BBCH 65-69 stage, thus indicating a relatively weak relationship.

Abstract:

Gulma merupakan salah satu kendala dalam pertanaman Eucalyptus urophylla. Gulma menurunkan kualitas dan kuantitas hasil pertanaman Eucalyptus urophylla sehingga gulma harus dikendalikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian herbisida Saflufenacil 250 g/l + Trifludimoxazin 125 g/l untuk mengendalikan gulma pada pertanaman Eucalyptus urophylla. Percobaan dilaksanakan di lahan pertanaman Eucalyptus urophylla Kampung Pasir Ucing, Desa Sukakarya, Kecamatan Samarang, Kabupaten Garut, Jawa Barat pada bulan Januari 2022 sampai April 2022. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan enam perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Percobaan terdiri dari empat perlakuan herbisida berbahan aktif Saflufenacil 250 g/l + Trifludimoxazin 125 g/l dengan dosis A: 150 ml/ha, B: 200 ml/ha, C: 250 ml/ha, D: 300 ml/ha, E: perlakuan penyiangan manual dan F: perlakuan kontrol dengan tanpa pengendalian gulma. Hasil menunjukkan aplikasi herbisida berbahan aktif Saflufenacil 250 g/l + Trifludimoxazin 125 g/l dengan dosis B: 200 ml/ha dan dosis C: 250 ml/ha berpengaruh dan mampu menekan pertumbuhan gulma Imperata cylindrica dan gulma total sampai 8 minggu setelah aplikasi sedangkan gulma Cyperus kylingia, Ageratum conyzoides, Calopogonium mucunoides, Borreria latifolia, Stenochlaena sp. dan gulma spesies lain sampai 12 minggu setelah aplikasi serta tidak menimbulkan fitotoksisitas terhadap pertanaman Eucalyptus urophylla.

High pressure (HP) treatment affects many constituents of milk (for reviews see Huppertz et al. 2002; Needs, 2002); particular in the properties of casein micelles in HP-treated milk differ considerably from their counterparts in untreated milk. In milk treated at 100–200 MPa, average casein micelle size differs little from that of untreated milk (Needs et al. 2000a; Huppertz et al. 2004a; Regnault et al. 2004; Anema et al. 2005), but micelle size in milk treated at 250 MPa for [ges ]15 min is considerably higher than in untreated milk, probably due to HP-induced aggregation of casein micelles (Huppertz et al. 2004a,b; Regnault et al. 2004); after treatment at 300–800 MPa, micelle size is ~50% lower than that in untreated milk (Needs et al. 2000a; Huppertz et al. 2004a,b; Anema et al. 2005). HP-induced changes in average casein micelle size are irreversible on subsequent storage, except for the increase in micelle size after treatment at 250 MPa (Huppertz et al. 2004a).

Abstract:

We investigated the effect of beta-alanine (BA) alone (study A) and in combination with sodium bicarbonate (SB) (study B) on 100- and 200-m swimming performance. In study A, 16 swimmers were assigned to receive either BA (3.2 g·day−1 for 1 week and 6.4 g·day−1 for 4 weeks) or placebo (PL; dextrose). At baseline and after 5 weeks of supplementation, 100- and 200-m races were completed. In study B, 14 were assigned to receive either BA (3.2 g·day−1 for 1 week and 6.4 g·day−1 for 3 weeks) or PL. Time trials were performed once before and twice after supplementation (with PL and SB), in a crossover fashion, providing 4 conditions: PL-PL, PL-SB, BA-PL, and BA-SB. In study A, BA supplementation improved 100- and 200-m time-trial performance by 2.1% (p = 0.029) and 2.0% (p = 0.0008), respectively. In study B, 200-m time-trial performance improved in all conditions, compared with presupplementation, except the PL-PL condition (PL-SB, +2.3%; BA-PL, +1.5%; BA-SB, +2.13% (p < 0.05)). BA-SB was not different from BA-PL (p = 0.21), but the probability of a positive effect was 78.5%. In the 100-m time-trial, only a within-group effect for SB was observed in the PL-SB (p = 0.022) and BA-SB (p = 0.051) conditions. However, 6 of 7 athletes swam faster after BA supplementation. The probability of BA having a positive effect was 65.2%; when SB was added to BA, the probability was 71.8%. BA and SB supplementation improved 100- and 200-m swimming performance. The coingestion of BA and SB induced a further nonsignificant improvement in performance.

Abstract:

Salah satu metode perbaikan pipa tanpa menghentikan aliran fluida yang mengalir adalah sleeve repair dengan pengelasan in-service. Risiko hydrogen cracking pada pengelasan in-service dapat dihindari dengan mengontrol kekerasan pada HAZ maksimum 350 VHN. Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan pengelasan melingkar pada konfigurasi sleeve tipe B berdiameter 4" dan tebal 6 mm menggunakan metode pengelasan FCAW (semi otomatis) dengan aliran air sebesar 5 liter/menit. Alat yang digunakan untuk pengelasan adalah robot memutar sederhana pada pipa dan mesin las Daiden MIGi 200 dengan elektroda E71T-11 berdiameter 0,8 mm. Beberapa parameter pengelasan seperti arus, voltase, dan kecepatan feed elektroda diatur konstan berturut-turut sebesar 120 ampere, 20 volt, dan 7,5 meter/menit. Sementara kecepatan pengelasan divariasikan mulai dari tercepat 10 mm/detik, 6 mm/detik, hingga paling lambat 1 mm/detik. Kekerasan pada las sendiri teramati lebih tinggi dari HAZ. Sementara itu, kekerasan pada CGHAZ diamati lebih tinggi daripada FGHAZ. Kekerasan HAZ cenderung meningkat seiring bertambahnya kecepatan pengelasan. Nilai kekerasan maksimum untuk kecepatan 1, 6, dan 10 mm/s (atau heat input 4.800, 400, dan 240 J/mm) berturut-turut sebesar 250, 351, dan 465 VHN. Menimbang batasan kekerasan yang diacu, potensi terjadinya hydrogen cracking dapat diamati pada kecepatan pengelasan 6 mm/s (heat input 400 J/mm) sehingga direkomendasikan agar pengelasan dilakukan dengan kecepatan di bawah itu.

Abstract:

IntroductionAcute gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) is a life-threatening emergency with a critical economic burden. As a result of bleeding, anaemia often requires intravenous or oral iron supplementation. Elderly patients are even more prone to untoward outcomes after hospital discharge if iron supplementation is inefficient. There is a gap in current guidelines on which supplementation route clinicians should choose. We aim to investigate the effect of one dose of intravenous iron therapy versus 3-month oral iron administration on anaemia in an elderly population.Methods and analysisThe FIERCE study is an open-label, randomised controlled, two-armed trial. At least 48 hours after the acute non-variceal GIB treatment, patients will be recruited in participating centres. A random sequence generator will allocate the participants to group A (intravenous ferric carboxymaltose, 1000 mg) or group B (oral ferrous sulfate (FS), ca. 200 mg every day) with an allocation ratio of 1:1 on the day of the planned discharge from the hospital. Randomisation will be stratified for participating centres and the need for transfusion within the same hospitalisation before recruitment to the trial. Quality of life assessment, functional measurement and laboratory tests will be performed at baseline, 1 and 3 months±7 days after enrolment to the trial. The primary endpoint is a composite endpoint, including all-cause mortality, anaemia-associated unplanned emergency visit and anaemia-associated unplanned hospital admission within 3 months of enrolment in the trial.Ethics and disseminationThe study has been approved by the relevant organisation, the Scientific and Research Ethics Committee of the Hungarian Medical Research Council (46395-5/2021/EÜIG). We will disseminate our results to the medical community and will publish our results in peer-reviewed journals.Trial registrationThe trial has been registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05060731).

Abstract:

Trichosanthes kirilowii, one of the herbal formulas named SH003, has been used for treatment in traditional medicine. This paper aimed to analyze the marker compounds from the roots of T. kirilowii and evaluate a validation method for cucurbitacins B and D using high-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array detector (HPLC-PDA). Two marker compounds were identified as cucurbitacin B (1) and cucurbitacin D (2) from the roots of T. kirilowii by spectroscopic analyses. Cucurbitacins B and D peaks were well separated and were detected at 15.4 min and 12.4 min, respectively, by a UV detector at 230 nm with the linearity (R2 > 0.999) range between 5 and 250 μg/mL, limit of detections (LODs) were 1.87 μg/mL and 1.30 μg/mL, respectively, while limit of quantifications (LOQs) were 5.66 μg/mL and 3.93 μg/mL, respectively. The established method offered good precision with overall intra- and inter-day variations of 0.34–1.26 and 0.26–1.35%, respectively, for % relative standard deviation (RSD, acceptance limit %RSD <3%). The cucurbitacins B and D recoveries ranged from 99.2 to 101.7% and 98.6 to 102.0%, respectively. These results suggest that cucurbitacins B and D could be a valuable candidate for marker compounds of the extract from T. kirilowii, and the proposed method was shown applicability for quality control of SH003.

Abstract:

Este trabalho teve como objetivo discutir os saberes necessários a prática do professor da educação básica com ênfase na educação infantil. Utilizou-se a revisão de literatura especializada em três eixos reflexivos a) discussão dos saberes dos professores (TARDIF, 2002; GAUTHIER, 1998; SHULMAN, 2014), b) a construção do conhecimento (BOURDIEU, 2003) e c) a prática reflexiva (SCHON, 1992). Diante das considerações desveladas foi possível compreender que alguns autores tratam de saberes docentes como aqueles advindos da experiência, do ofício, da formação e do currículo. Por outro lado, o “conhecimento pedagógico do conteúdo”, conhecimento sobre como o conteúdo se mostra ensinável, destacando o “como” ensinar determinado conteúdo ou assunto apresentado a um grupo de alunos num determinado contexto, é caracterizado como uma base de conhecimentos próprios do professor para o ensino, por combinar o conteúdo com a matéria e a pedagogia ao exercício docente.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between physical education teacher candidates’ epistemological beliefs and academic self-efficacy beliefs. The research group consisted of a total of 220 preservice physical education teachers (age = 22.32 ± 1.514), 99 female (45%) and 121 male (55%), studying at the Faculties of Sport Sciences of four different universities in the 2022-2023 academic year. A correlational survey model was adopted to examine the relationship between physical education teacher candidates’ epistemological beliefs and academic self-efficacy levels. The personal information form and Epistemological Belief Scale that Schommer (1990) developed and Deryakulu and Büyüköztürk (2002) adapted and the Academic Self-Efficacy scale that Ekici (2012) developed consisting of three sub-dimensions and 33 questions were used as data collection tools. It was found that preservice physical education teachers had high levels of epistemological beliefs, and it was determined that the academic self-efficacy levels of the teachers were low.

Abstract:

IntroductionThere is no consistency in current practice pertaining to the prescription and progression of upper limb resistance exercise following cardiac surgery via median sternotomy. The aim of this study is to investigate whether less restrictive sternal precautions with the addition of early-supervised resistance training exercise improves upper limb function and facilitates recovery following median sternotomy.Methods and analysisThis is double-blind randomised controlled trial, with parallel group, concealed allocation, blinding of patients and assessors, and intention-to-treat analysis. 240 adult participants who had median sternotomy from eight hospitals in Malaysia will be recruited. Sample size calculations were based on the unsupported upper limb test. All participants will be randomised to receive either standard or early supervised incremental resistance training. The primary outcomes are upper limb function and pain. The secondary outcomes will be functional capacity, multidomain recovery (physical and psychological), length of hospital stay, incidence of respiratory complications and quality of life. Descriptive statistics will be used to summarise data. Data will be analysed using the intention-to-treat principle. The primary hypothesis will be examined by evaluating the change from baseline to the 4-week postoperative time point in the intervention arm compared with the usual care arm. For all tests to be conducted, a p value of <0.05 (two tailed) will be considered statistically significant, and CIs will be reported. The trial is currently recruiting participants.Ethics and disseminationThe study was approved by a central ethical committee as well as the local Research Ethics Boards of the participating sites (UKM:JEP-2019-654; Ministry of Health: NMMR-50763; National Heart Centre: IJNREC/501/2021). Approval to start was given prior to the recruitment of participants commencing at any sites. Process evaluation findings will be published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at relevant academic conferences.Trial registration numberInternational Standard Randomised Controlled Trials Number (ISRCTN17842822).

Abstract:

The Slot and Structure Model of morphology (SSM: Benavides 2022) presents itself as an extension of the Parallel Architecture (PA: Jackendoff 1997, 2002). The present article compares SSM to Relational Morphology (Jackendoff and Audring 2020) and Construction Morphology (Booij 2010), which also claim allegiance to the Parallel Architecture. It is shown that (a) SSM does not segregate semantic structure from syntactic structure, violating the fundamental premise of the PA; (b) SSM is concerned primarily with deriving productive morphology, while the PA is stated in terms of declarative schemas that license nonproductive as well as productive morphology; (c) SSM enforces a strict division between morphology and syntax, while the PA allows a degree of interpenetration. Finally, Benavides accuses RM of lacking a direct connection between semantics and syntax. It is shown that this is based on a misunderstanding of the RA formalism.

Introduction. In some medical centers, LIOC are exclusively interpreted by surgeons. The degree of accuracy of surgeon’s interpretation compared to that of radiologist (gold standard) and its clinical significance are not well studied. Objective. study whether surgeons are accurate in interpreting IOC or not by comparing the interpretation of LIOC by surgeons to the postoperative interpretation of same cholangiograms by radiologists, and study its clinical significance. Methods. A retrospective study of 200 consecutive patients who underwent selective LIOC in Al-Khor community hospital in Qatar during the period from May 2005 till December 2011. A radiology senior consultant blindly reviewed the cholangiograms (Reading B) then we compared these findings (ductal dilatation, defects of filling and passage of contrast into duodenum) to LIOC results that were reported intraoperatively by surgeons for the same patients (Reading A). Results. Ductal dilatation was found in (27.5%) of Reading A compared to 19% in Reading B. filling defects were reported in (20.5%) of Reading A compared to 14.5% in Reading B. Conclusion. there is significant difference of LIOC interpretation between surgeons and radiologist specially in the detection of defects of fillings although this variability did not affect the clinical outcome.

Abstract This research investigated the influence of water-absorbent polymer balls (WAPB) on reinforced concrete beams’ structural behavior experimentally. Four self-compacted reinforced concrete beams of identical geometric layouts 150 mm × 200 mm × 1,500 mm, reinforcement details, and compressive strength f c ′ {f}_{\text{c}}^{^{\prime} } ≈ 50 MPa were castellated. Each beam contained a volume percentage of WAPB that differed from the others, and the considered percentages were V b = 0, 1, 2, and 3%. A static test under two-point loads was adopted to evaluate the structural behavior of the tested beams. The results indicated that the maximum load capacity of the tested beams was increased by 2.0, 3.0, and 7.14% for the volume percentages of 1, 2, and 3%, respectively, as compared to the reference beam (V b = 0%). It was also observed that the impact of V b = 3% was higher than that of the other percentages. For all the tested beams, the mode of failure was a flexural failure that is compatible with the considered preliminary design. The results showed that increasing the percentage of polymer to 3% had a significant effect on the deflection, as the deflection was directly proportioned to the percentage of WAPB.

Abstract:

In the period from 2012 to 2015 on Kalym winter wheat variety plants there were carried out field tests of the liquid culture of B. subtilis BZR 336g and BZR 517 strains isolated from natural sources that exhibit antifungal activity against phytopathogenic fungi Fusarium graminearum, F. culmorum, Microdochium nivale and Pyrenophora tritici-repentis, and are also able to have a positive effect on the growth and development of plants. Pre-sowing seed treatment and two preventive treatments during the growing season of the plants were carried out with the liquid culture of the strains. Comparison variants - treatment with water (control), with chemical (Raxil, KS; Alto Super, KS) and with biological (Fitosporin-M, L) standards. Biological efficacy against the complex of fusarium root rots was noted in the shooting stage of winter wheat and during ripening, and in some years reached 22.8 % for B. subtilis BZR 336g strain and 17.2 % for B. subtilis BZR 517 strain. In variants with presowing seed treatment and treatment of vegetative winter wheat plants with B. subtilis BZR 336g strain for three years of field trials the yield was from 5.0 to 7.4 t / ha, and when treated with B. subtilis BZR 517 strain - from 4.2 to 7.6 t / ha. The maximum additional yield was obtained in 2013 - a reliable yield increase was 1.6 t / ha for B. subtilis BZR 336g strain and 0.8 t / ha for B. subtilis BZR 517 strain. The ability of liquid cultures of the studied strains to protect winter wheat against harmful diseases at the same level and above the biological and chemical standards will help to expand the range of microbial biological products in the segment of the Russian market of environmentally friendly plant protection products.

Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is considered toxic and has other life-threatening side effects. Our aim was to evaluate the haematotoxic effects of lamivudine, zidovudine, and nevirapine fixed-dose combinations in Albino Wistar rats. Fifty (50) three (3) months old male Albino Wistar rats weighing between 200 and 250 g were randomly assigned to five (5) groups (A, B, C, D, and E). Group A served as control. Two (2 mLs) of venous blood was aseptically collected on Days 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 of treatment. Red blood cell (RBC) mean value recorded statistically significant increase () in groups B and C when compared with the control group on Day 5. However, there was a statistically significant decrease () in RBC, haemoglobin concentration (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), and some red cell indices on Day 10. In addition there was no statistically significant difference () in all the parameters evaluated when the test group was compared with the control on Day 25. Furthermore, there was a time-related statistically significant increase () in the two major blood cells—RBC and platelet counts. From the result of this present study, it can be concluded that HAART when administered in fixed-dose combinations have no subacute haematotoxic effects.

ObjectivesWe studied associations between the burden of health problems and athlete burnout in a population of athletes from Norwegian Sport Academy High Schools.MethodsThis is a mixed prospective/retrospective cohort study. We included 210 athletes, 135 boys and 75 girls, from endurance, technical and team sports. We used the Oslo Sports Trauma Centres Questionnaire for Health Problems to collect 124 weeks of health data. During the first 26 weeks, athletes reported the health data prospectively using a smartphone app. For the following 98 weeks, we collected health data by interviewing athletes at the end of their third year in Sport Academy High School. At the time of the interview, the athletes also completed a web-based questionnaire, including the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire and covering social relations in sports and school, coach relations and living conditions.ResultsA greater burden of health problems was associated with a higher score for athlete burnout (B: 0.16, 95% CI 0.09 to 0.22, p<0.001). In a multivariable model, this was true for both illnesses (B: 0.21, 95% CI 0.10 to 0.32, p<0.001), acute injuries (B: 0.16, 95% CI 0.04 to 0.27, p=0.007) and overuse injuries (B: 0.10, 95% CI 0.002 to 0.18, p=0.011). This was also true in gender and sports category subgroups. The coach having a high influence on training week was associated with a lower score for athlete burnout.ConclusionA greater burden of health problems was associated with greater symptoms of athlete burnout in athletes attending Sport Academy High Schools.

Abstract:

A chromatographic method was established for the determination of lenalidomide and related substances in 10 mg and 5 mg capsules using Sunfire C-18(250×4.6 mm ID, 5 μm) HPCL column with 85:15 v/v ratio of mobile phases A (mixture of phosphoric acid buffer and 1-octane sulphonic acid sodium salt) and B(55: 45 v/v ratio of methanol and acetonitrile) at 40°C and 210 nm wave length. The degradation studies were performed using 0.1N HCl, 0.1 N NaOH, 1% v/v hydrogen peroxide, humidity, UV at 254 nm, Sun light, and heat to 60°C. No significant degradation of lenalidomide was observed. However, the slight degradation was observed in presence of NaOH. The developed HPLC method gave the peaks purity angle was less their threshold angle, indicating it to be suitable for stability studies. It was validated with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision, ruggedness, and robustness.

Abstract:

Bidens pilosa (B. pilosa) and Cymbopogon citratus (C. citratus) are plants used individually or in combination in the traditional treatment of several ailments such as cardiovascular disorders. In order to valorise their traditional use, a toxicological study was conducted on the aqueous extract of the mixture of aerial parts of B. pilosa and C. citratus. The acute and subchronic toxicity studies were conducted according to the OECD 425 and 407 guidelines. Regarding the acute study, the aqueous extract of the mixture of B. pilosa and C. citratus 50 : 50 (2000 and 5000 mg/kg) was administered once to rats of both sexes. In the subchronic study, the aqueous extract of the mixture of B. pilosa and C. citratus (200, 400 and 800 mg/kg) was administered once daily to rats for 28 days. The aqueous extract of the mixture of B. pilosa and C. citratus (2000 and 5000 mg/kg) did not cause death and did not induce any apparent sign of toxicity during the 14 days of observation. The DL50 of the extract is therefore greater than 5000 mg/kg. Taken daily for 28 days, the extract had no significant effect on selected parameters (creatinine, AST, ALT, urea, and uric acid) of renal and hepatic function, as well as on the number of some blood cells. However, the aqueous extract of the mixture of B. pilosa and C. citratus (200 and 400 mg/kg) caused a significant ( p < 0.05 ; p < 0.001 , respectively) decrease in creatinine levels in male rats as compared to normal control animals. In females, the aqueous extract of the mixture of B. pilosa and C. citratus (200 and 400 mg/kg) resulted in a significant ( p < 0.05 ) increase in total cholesterol levels as compared to normal control animals. The study showed that the aqueous extract of the mixture of B. pilosa and C. citratus has a low toxicity and does not cause any injury to the liver, kidney, lungs, or spleen.

A., Martinez-Borra, J., and Lopez-Vazquez, A. (2002) Arthritis Rheum. 46, 2968–2971) was compared with those of the non-associated B*1402 and the prototypic disease-associated B*2705 allotypes. Although differing by a single residue (L156R), B*1402 and B*1403 shared only 32–35% of their peptide repertoires. Subtype-related differences observed in multiple peptide positions, including P3 and P7, were largely explained by a direct effect of the L156R change on peptide specificity. The HLA-B14 subtypes shared only ∼3% of their peptide repertoires with B*2705. This was due to distinct residue usage at most positions, as revealed by statistical comparison of B*1402, B*1403, and B*2705-bound nonamers. Nevertheless, shared ligands between B*2705 and B*1403 were formally identified, although ligands common to B*2705 and B*1403, but absent from B*1402, were not found. Alloreactive T-cells were used as a tool to analyze epitope sharing among B*1402, B*1403, and B*2705. The percentage of cross-reactive T-cell clones closely paralleled peptide overlap, suggesting that shared ligands tend to maintain their antigenic features when bound to the different allotypes. Our results indicate that B*1403 and B*2705 can present common peptides. However, both the disparity of their peptide repertoires and the lack of binding features shared by these two allotypes, but not B*1402, argue against, although do not exclude, a mechanism of spondyloarthritis mediated by specific ligands of B*2705 and B*1403.

Abstract:

In this study the filamentous fungi Trichoderma atroviride AD-130 was evaluated for production of cellulases as well as xylanase. An attempt has been made to optimize the cultural and nutritional conditions for cellulases and xylanase production by Trichoderma atroviride AD-130 under submerged fermentation. The lignocellulosic biomass of Saccharum munja was used as carbon source for cellulases and xylanase production. Whole fermentation process was carried out in 250 mL Erlenmeyer flasks with agitation speed of 170rpm. The maximum titers of cellulases (FPase 1.01 U mL-1, CMCase 2.69 U mL-1, b-glucosidase 0.82 U mL-1) and xylanase (82.99 U mL-1) were obtained on 5th and 4th day respectively when Trichoderma atroviride AD-130 was grown at initial medium having pH 6.0 at 30°C using 2.0% (w/v) Saccharum munja biomass as substrate.
