Abstract:
Italian and Anglo-Saxon accounting scholarships are rather different in their philosophical foundations and conceptual categories. Such difference has implications for Italian scholars aiming at contributing to the international accounting history (AH) literature. This work aims to qualify the contribution of Italian scholars to the AH literature. By means of a review of the AH publication patterns of Italian scholars both in Italian and English language, from 2010 to 2016, the analysis compares Italian and international outlets. Furthermore, the comparison considers the entrenched bi-lingual and cultural aspects, by highlighting the textual similarities and differences of specific contributions. With its results, the study adds to prior literature on the publishing patterns in AH, by shedding light on how Italian accounting historiography has developed in an international context. Moreover, this work highlights the challenges for Italian scholars willing to disseminate AH research outside their national context and promotes cross-country collaborations to expand the pathways, time and foci of international AH.

Abstract:
The thesis investigates representations of 'red' political violence in Italy of the so- called anni di piombo and later memory of it in selected films, theatrical works, novels and stories. After the Introduction, which includes a discussion of aims, key concepts and methods, there are four main chapters. Chapter One examines representations of the abduction and killing of Aldo Moro in two thematic groups; those which focus respectively on Moro and the brigatisti during the imprisonment and on the Via Fani massacre and the alleged conspiracy behind it. The analysis of these texts serves as a case study, highlighting key themes and issues that will recur in the next chapters. Chapter Two deals with texts that link political violence to relations between the generations - conflicts between father and son, relationships between mother and daughter/son - and reflects on the implications of their emphasis on the family. Chapter Three analyses texts that centre on women militants. It draws attention to two recurrent female types: the woman who strays from her maternal role in joining the armed group and later seeks 'normalization' and the ex-militant who remains committed to her former beliefs, in contrast both to a male character and a female 'good double'. Chapter Four concentrates on the representations of the post-anni di piombo. It deals first with self-narratives of Italian political refugees in Paris and then with fictional or semi-fictionalized representations of 'dramatic encounters' between former activists, and between activists and their children. A short Afterword concludes on the principal findings and reflects on the methodology.

Dans un premier temps, nous présenterons les fondements et principes de cette constitution, mais aussi certaines idées faisant débat au sein de l’Union européenne afin d’en comprendre les enjeux. Ensuite, nous considérerons des points de vue partagés ou divergents parmi les partis et les politiciens qui ont appelé à voter NON parmi la gauche, l’extrême gauche, la droite et l’extrême droite. Enfin, nous tâcherons de tirer des conclusions quant aux divers arguments afin de comprendre quels ont été les points communs de tous ces partis et les raisons principales de ce malaise créant finalement ce besoin d’unité nationale profonde parmi la population française.

A two-way bond between translation and migration has appeared in the most recent texts in the social sciences and humanities: this connection between the two is exemplified by the mobility metaphor, which considers both practices as journeys across cultural, linguistic and geographical borders. Among the different ways this mobility metaphor can be studied, two particular areas of investigation are of interest for this research: firstly, migrant writing, a literary genre shaped from the increasing migratory movements worldwide; the second area of interest is literary translation, the activity that shapes the way these narratives are disseminated beyond the linguistic borders they were produced in. My investigation into the role of literary translation in the construction and circulation of a migrant discourse starts with the claim that writing and translation in itinerant contexts are driven by, and participate in, the idea of the journey: an interlingual and intercultural flow regulated by social/economic/artistic constraints, a movement in which the migrant experience is ‘translated’ in writing and then ‘migrated’ across languages and spaces. The present analysis focuses on the representative case study of migrant narratives by Canadian writers of Italian descent: their shared reflections on the themes of nostalgia and the mythical search for roots, together with a set of specific linguistic devices – hybridity, juxtaposition of languages, idiolects and registers – create a distinctive literary migrant discourse, that of the return to the land of origin. Guided primarily by the theoretical framework of Cultural Studies, the first part of this work seeks to illustrate how thematic and linguistic elements contribute to the construction of a homecoming discourse in original migrant narratives, and how this relates to the translation practice. Subsequently, the analysis moves to the examination of how these motives are reproduced in the translated texts, and what is/are the key rationale/s behind the translation of this type of works. Ultimately, my research takes a sociologically informed interest in the influence of translation and its agents in endorsing and/or manipulating this rationale in the receiving culture. In fact, this research aims to represent equally the human and cultural-linguistic aspects that affect these translational journeys, concentrating, firstly, on the actors (authors and literary translators) and the social and artistic environments that surround the production of both the source and target texts and, subsequently, on the texts themselves.

Abel Salazar presents the considerations of a traveler-storyteller about some Italian cities in his book of travel narratives, Uma Primavera em Itália (2003), the central corpus of our research. Starting from an introduction about the author, the text, the perspectives of travel literature in the first half of the twentieth century, its categorization and reflecting on the tourist and traveler profile, we intend, with this research, to present a critical analysis of the interpretation of the figure of the traveler and its facets by the eclectic Portuguese author Abel Salazar, praised and criticized in his travel narratives.

AMICA is an argument mining-based search engine, specifically designed for the analysis of scientific literature related to Covid-19. AMICA retrieves scientific papers based on matching keywords and ranks the results based on the papers' argumentative content. An experimental evaluation conducted on a case study in collaboration with the Italian National Institute of Health shows that the AMICA ranking agrees with expert opinion, as well as, importantly, with the impartial quality criteria indicated by Cochrane Systematic Reviews.

sufficient amount of foreign research literature has been devoted to the study of such a political phenomenon as euroscepticism; recently, interest in it among the Russian scientific community has intensified due to the strengthening of its positions in the EU countries. Italy after the elections of March 4, 2018 turned into a “show-window” of the success of euroscepticism and populism. The purpose of this article is to determine the sustainability of the new government. The author identifies the causes of the weakening of the position of the Democratic Party in Italy, the coming to power of radical parties, whose leadership until recently was not taken seriously among the EU political establishment. The paper also analyzes the main concepts of the program called “Contract for the government of change” and the prospects for its implementation. To solve these tasks, a historical and chronological method was used, which allowed to track the stages of weakening popular support for traditional parties and the growing popularity of euro skeptics. The research was also used the theoretical research method as an analysis to determine the future prospects of the government in domestic and foreign policy. The author comes to the conclusion that in the coming years Italy will become the leader of all eurosceptic forces with the prospect of creating and heading a similar faction in the European Parliament in May 2019. The conclusion is also formed that the Government’s attitude to cancel anti-Russian sanctions should not be considered too optimistic. Analyzing the declining rhetoric of the Italian leadership on this issue, the author assumes that the Russian issue is just a bargaining chip in knocking out EU preferences on fiscal and migration issues

CIRDIS is an Italian Interuniversity Research Centre for Statistical Education located at the Universities of Padova, Palermo, Perugia and “Roma la Sapienza”. The Centre, constituted on 1991, has the general objective of promoting the development of research on statistical education in Italy, especially at the undergraduate level. For this purpose the Centre: carries out research on statistical education; develops teaching materials; carries out statistical training courses for school teachers. The Centre has recently renewed its internet site (http://cirdis.stat.unipg.it) to meet teachers’ increasing demand for an effective teaching of statistics in Italian schools. The site, which has been visited since April 2003 about 8.000 times, is an environment from which teachers and students can find information on Centre’s activities and can get a valuable support to motivate and improve the learning of statistics, by accessing to a wide variety of resources and links. The site contains materials to help teaching statistics in an active way, with a multidisciplinary approach, so showing the importance for every citizen of being statistically literate. The section “Teaching/learning resources” aims at providing real datasets and teaching materials from a variety of subjects, in order to give teachers interesting examples for their statistics course. Many of the teaching resources available on the site have been developed by CIRDIS researchers.

Abstract:
Covid-19 pandemic has increased the use of technology in the educational field. While previous literature has demonstrated the benefits of using technology in educational environments, the risks related to problematic digital behaviors have been less investigated. Digital resilience represents a protective factor for students’ learning outcomes and emotional wellbeing. The main aim of this study was to explore Italian university students’ digital resilience levels and their psychological wellbeing in terms of stress and psychological resilience. 94 students (F=57.4%) aged 19-57 (M=31.11, SD=9.04) completed an ad-hoc questionnaire on digital resilience which included the Perceived Stress Scale, the KOP-26, and the Brief Resilience Scale. Descriptive statistics, item analysis, and bivariate correlations were performed. Results showed that Italian students reported higher levels of stress (M=21.53, SD=6.92) than the Italian normative sample. In addition to this, they perceived good levels of both psychological and digital resilience: they reported being aware of potential strategies for preparing for and responding to cyber threats and how to face negative online experiences. These results could usefully inform interventions aimed at helping them to recognize and manage risks and threats when online

The Section two of the guideline [1] to the Italian technical procedure [2] concerns issues on high-temperature component assessment: it suggests, among others, the first-choice method for calculating expended life under creep conditions. One may get the time to rupture at operation temperature directly through the model chosen for the curve Larson-Miller parameter - stress. The author has written a computer program for finding the best fitting model’s regression coefficients: it features the least squares analysis on points (test temperature, ultimate strength at 100000 hours) available in literature for any creep-sensitive material. Abstract:
The paper focuses on the interlacement of literary and iconographic elements by displaying an innovatory philological and stylistic approach, from a comparative perspective, in thematizing multilingual translational and adaptive aspects, ranging across Bernard Berenson's diaristic and epistolary corpus, in conjunction with his works on Italian visual culture. This interweaving gives occasion to the elaboration of multilinguistic textual influences and their verbo-visual artistic representations deduced from his innovative interpretative readings in the domain of world literature in modern times. Such analysis of the discourse of theoretical and literary nature, and of the pictoricity, refers to Bernard Berenson's multilingual considerations about canonical authors in English, Italian, French, German language, belonging to the Neoclassical and Romantic period, as well as to the contemporary era, as conceptualized in his autobiographical works, in correlation with his writings on Italian figurative art. The scope of this presentation is to discern and articulate Berenson's aesthetic ideas evoking literary and artistic modernity, that are infused with crucial notions of translational theory and conveyed through the methodology of close reading and comprising at the same time, in an omnicomprehensive manner, a plurality of tendencies intrinsic to social paradigms of cultural studies. Unexplored premises reflecting Berenson's vision of Italian culture, most notably of a visual stamp, will be analyzed through author's understandings of such adaptive translations or volumes to be subsequently translated in Italian, and through their intertwined intertextual applications, significantly contributing to further critical and hermeneutic reception thereof. Particular attention is drawn to its instancing in the field of Romantic literary production (Emerson, Byron), originally underscoring the specificities of each literary genre and expressive mode, of the narrative, lyric or theatrical nature, as well as concomitantly involving parallel notions as adapted variants within visual arts, and in such a way expressing theoretical views pertainable to Italian artworks too. Other analogous elements relevant to literary expression in the most varied cultural sectors such as philosophy, music, civilisational history (Goethe, Hegel, Kant, Wagner, Chateaubriand, Rousseau, Mme de Staël, Taine) are furnished, as well as the examples of the resonances of non-western cultures, with the objective of exploring the effect among readership bringing also to the renewal of Italian tradition.

A previously-developed computer program [1] features the least-squares analysis for finding the best fitting model’s regression coefficients: The analysis is acted on points (test temperature, ultimate strength at 100000 hours) available in literature for any creep-sensitive material. The automatic procedure gives time to rupture at operation temperature directly through the model chosen for the curve Larson-Miller parameter (LMP) – stress. It applies the first-choice method in the Section II of the guideline [2] to the Italian technical procedure for creep-operated pressure vessel components [3]. Aim of the present work is to compare the results of the Italian code with those predicted by the API 579-1 standard [4]. Comparison is on data gathered by one author in his previous work [5]. That investigated a high energy pipeline after 230000 hours of service and calculated critical components’ life through an API 579-1 Level-3 assessment. Present study uses stresses from standard analysis based on B31.1 code [6] and from a finite element analysis (FEA, elastic and plastic): it finds out the residual life of three components, a 90-LR bend and two tees. Besides, it carries out creep assessment according to the Italian procedure and API 579-1 (Level 1 to 3); the former is LMP-approach based whereas the latter uses both LMP and the Omega methods. For the Level-1 assessment (B31.1 stresses), the Italian procedure and the API 579-1 return consistent results. Acting a Level-2 assessment through an elastic FEA, results are consistent only when the API 579-1 analysis adopts the Omega Method. The LMP-approach method (minimum stress to rupture data) shows instead more conservative results. API 579-1 Level-3 assessment incorporates creep, plasticity and relaxation: When compared with the Italian procedure it predicts longer creep lives (up to a factor of ten).

Abstract:
In a comparative perspective between Spanish and Italian literature, it is considered a possible intertextual dialogue between Lazarillo de Tormes and the figure of the medium giant Margutte, proposed by Luigi Pulci in his Morgante (published between 1478 and 1483). This figure is actually examined as it appears in the Spanish translation of Pulci's work by Jerónimo de Aunés. This translation is divided into two volumes, both published in Valencia, the first in 1533 by the printer Francisco Díaz Romano (canti from I to XVII of the Italian original); the second in 1535 by the printer Nicolás Durán de Salvanyach (canti from the XVIII to the XXV). With regard to the second volume, which includes Margutte's episode, there are no modern editions and therefore I used a its facsimile. My research tries to highlight some points of contact between Lazarillo and the translation of Aunés, both at content and linguistic level. Therefore, this study also tends to integrate the corpus of literary knowledge of the anonymous author of Lazarillo.

Abstract:
This paper reports on an illustrative human rights impact assessment (HRIA) of the Italian wine supply chains of Systembolaget, the Swedish monopoly alcohol retailer. The HRIA aimed to evaluate the actual and potential human rights impacts at the production stage of the value chain in Italy, to identify their root causes, and to provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders concerning their prevention, mitigation and/or remediation. The assessment took just over a year and consisted of five phases of analysis using a methodology aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). However, the onset of Italy’s severe first wave of coronavirus in 2020 meant that the assessment team was unable to conduct the field study phase with the full rigour required of an HRIA. The field phase started in September 2019, with an initial assessment phase based on a literature review and a round of stakeholder interviews from September 2019 to March 2020. Further, limited, worker interviews were conducted from October 2020 to January 2021. The result is an illustration of the human rights risks that are present in the areas of Italy from which Systembolaget sources its wine.
