Full textThis work tries to show how literature is in great part responsible for concepting and disseminating alterity negative stereotypes in a inverse operation by means of which it contributes to establish a peace culture from literary reading novels like Ashini (1960) by Yves Thériault, La Boutique aux miracles (1969) by Jorge Amado and L’ Espérance maçadam (1995) by Gisèle Pineau. Such narratives bring to the reader the drama of representative characters from groups and collectivities until then aprehended as negative stereotypes, that is to say, Indigenous, Black and Mixed people and invite the reader to descover, under the apparent difference, the humanity that is behind the frontiers of race, class, ethnicity and social categories
