Abstract:

The geographic distributions of most surface-dwelling species of planktonic Foraminifera are now well-known (Bé, 1959, 1960, 1977; Bé & Hamlin, 1967; Bé, Vilks & Lott, 1971; Bé & Tolderlund, 1971; Tolderlund & Bé, 1971; Bé & Hutson, 1977). These distributions, established from species abundance in plankton net collections, have been used to correlate abundance with physical and chemical variables (primarily temperature and salinity) in an effort to establish the factors which control the geographic range of these shelled protists. Significant correlations have been derived from these comparisons and the temperature and salinity ‘limits’ and ‘optima’ of a number of species have been reported (e.g. Bé & Tolderlund, 1971).

Abstract:

Abstract The influence of morphological changes of small lowland river on discharge rate. The aim of the study was the comparison of the changes of cross-sections and longitudinal profile of the Mała river at the distance of 600 m. The paper presents the geometry changes of the river from field measurements made in 2013 in comparison with design assumptions from 1967 which were implemented in 1971. The four (available historical) cross-sections (hm 7+700, 7+800, 7+900, 8+000) and longitudinal profile (hm 7+700÷8+300) of the river were analysed and compared. The large scale of subsidence of the land surface on both banks was observed (even to 0.5 m). Probably it is the effect of peat shrinkage and mineralization processes of organic soils. The bottom of the Mała river was still located at the same altitude in sand deposits in the analysed period 1971-2013. The designed slope of bottom of the Mała river equals 0.7‰ (1967) and present slope (2013) was estimated to be around 1‰. The subsidence of peat layers on both river banks, changes in cross-sections’ parameters (present irregular shapes in comparison with designed trapezoidal cross-sections) caused the reduction of cross-sectional area and water discharge of about 40-50% in comparison with parameters designed in 1967 and made in 1971.

O presente artigo é resultado da pesquisa de mestrado desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação, da Universidade de São Paulo. Temos como objetivo disertar sobre as alterações políticas da Igreja Católica entre 1967-1971. Utilizamos como fonte documental os Campanhas da Fraternidade. Em um primeiro momento identificamos a Igreja como uma instituição social, em seguida desenvolvemos a divisão da Igreja em alas conservadora, progressista e libertadora. Por fim, foi possível identificar que a Igreja Católica apresentou-se em 1967 uma instituição com aspectos da ala conservadora. Entretanto com o passar dos anos, Igreja adotou uma postura mais progressista.

Events in the late 1960s reshaped the securities industry. Trading volume increased sharply, with the number of shares changing hands on the New York Exchange growing from five million a day in 1965 to twelve million a day in 1968. This expansion overwhelmed the mechanisms brokers used to transfer securities and keep records, which relied heavily on paper and pen. They responded by purchasing computers, but these machines were expensive and demanded more sophisticated management than most firms could provide. Accordingly, many companies botched the process. Moreover, trading volume declined sharply in 1969 and 1970, cutting deeply into brokerage revenue. These factors combined to create a crisis that had, by the end of 1970, forced nearly a sixth of the nation's brokerage firms out of business. Yet this crisis also opened the way for large, integrated companies, which, by the 1990s, dominated the securities industry and conducted business on a scale unimagined thirty years earlier.

Abstract:

Major changes in the position of Kosovo and Metohija’s autonomy in the late 1960s affected the province’s relations with Albania. In 1967, the Yugoslav State Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and the Yugoslav Federal Executive Council began to encourage cultural and economic ties between Kosovo and Metohija and Albania, justifying this as a strategy for the normalization of relations between Yugoslavia and Albania. Following the joint commemorations of the anniversary of Skanderbeg’s death in Priština and Tirana, an agreement was reached on the use of textbooks from Albania in the Kosovo and Metohija school system. The two sides organized mutual visits of folklore and art groups, as well as friendly matches of soccer teams. Kosovo companies were allowed small border traffic with Albania without any prior interstate agreements between Belgrade and Tirana. Constitutional changes in Serbia in 1969 enabled the expansion of economic and cultural cooperation between Kosovo and Albania. The University of Priština and the University of Tirana signed an agreement to hire professors from Tirana as lecturers at Priština faculties. In 1971, scientists from Tirana participated in the work of the Kosovo Archives, the Provincial Library, and the Priština Museum, while 41 Albanian professors gave lectures at the University of Priština. Reports by Albanian lecturers from Kosovo enabled the Albanian state leadership to be acquainted in detail with the political situation in Yugoslavia.

Fra 1967 e 1969 – anni densissimi di lavoro e sollecitazioni, a cominciare dal ritrovarsi ogni giorno negli spazi della Galleria Sperone, con opere e discussioni nuove – Alighiero Boetti viaggia virtualmente fra immaginari innescati, confrontati, condivisi, con compagni di strada vicini o distanti, in una rete di suggestioni che si definirà nel 1969, con la svolta propriamente concettuale del suo lavoro, nelle due direzioni delle quadrettature ricalcate della serie de Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’invenzione da un lato, e del Planisfero colorato, propedeutico alle Mappe, dall’altro. Percorsi incrociati che val la pena tentare di ricostruire per indizi, con uno scavo forse ingrato, ma altrettanto “intrigato” dall’ipotesi di una via d’accesso alla temperie e ai frangenti dei possibili scambi e discorsi passati fra gli artisti in quel triennio. In particolare si affronta quel “sentimento geografico” di matrice dechirichiana, una sensibilità allo spazio abitato che si dilata nell’immaginario, trasfigurando visivamente e concettualmente il dato di partenza, che affiora in tanti lavori di quegli anni, di cui le Mappe di Boetti sono un caso esemplare.

The paper set out to explain the discontinuity in Soviet-Nigerian relations between the periods 1967-1970 and 1971-1979. The explanation usually given for the poor relations between Nigeria and the Soviet Union between 1960 and 1966 is the anti-communism of the Nigerian political elite; and ideological incompatibility for the non-vibrant relations between 1971 and 1979. These explanations appear idealistic and hypothetical. A major source of the problem of explanation is the consideration of Soviet-Nigerian relations only within the context of the Soviet-American Cold War struggle, from a trilateral perspective. What if the Cold War did not exist, what would have been the nature of Soviet-Nigerian relations? Adopting a bilateral framework, the paper argues that it was the inchoate state of trade relations, which would have provided the basis for continuity across administrations, that retarded Soviet-Nigerian political relations between 1971 and 1979.

Vilniaus valstybinio pedagoginio instituto studentų gydymą, susirgimų profilaktiką ir sergančių studentų dispanserizaciją vykdo Vilniaus m. aukštųjų mokyklų poliklinika. Nustatyta, kad instituto studentų sergamumas 1967 – 1970 m. m. bendrai mažėjo, nors kai kurių rūšių susirgimų (akių, odos, ginekologinių) stebima nežymi augimo tendencija. Kiekvienu susirgimo atveju studentams buvo išduodami nedarbingumo lapeliai. Lygindami nedarbingumo duomenis už 1967 – 1970 m. m., matom, kad vidutinė nedarbingumo trukmė nuo 7,3 dienų 1967 m. sumažėjo iki 6,0 dienų 1970 m., nors išduodamų studentams nedarbingumo lapelių skaičius didėjo. Kiekvienas užsitęsęs susirgimo atvejis buvo dispanserizuojamas. Taip pat buvo analizuojama fiz. med. kabineto studentų sveikatos būklė. Išanalizavus gautus duomenis konstatuota, kad kiekvienais metais daugėja pirmo kurso studentų, skiriamų į spec. fizinio pasirengimo grupę. Jei 1967 m. jų buvo 13,1% nuo visų įstojusių į pirmą kursą studentų, tai 1970 m. – jau 17,7%. Spec. kontingento analizė leido nustatyti, kad jis padidėjo dėl didelio skaičiaus regimojo aparato susirgimų. Faktiškai per keturis metus jų skaičius padvigubėjo. Tai rodo nepakankamą regos ir vidurinių mokyklų apšvietimo kokybės kontrolę. Kartu buvo išmatuotas instituto auditorijų ir laboratorijų apšvietimas dieną ir vakare. Gauti duomenys rodo nepakankamą apšvietimą vakare daugelyje auditorijų ir laboratorijų. Studentų sveikatos stebėjimų duomenys buvo palyginti su duomenimis, gautais jiems pateikus 286 formą. Nustatyta, kad formos duomenys neatitiko gautų stebint duomenų vidutiniškai 12,9%. Be to, nustatyta, kad apie 10% studentų įstoja į institutą nepasitikrinę gerklės.

O artigo discute a importância de Quarup (1967), de Antonio Callado, tomado como romance representativo das contradições presentes na sociedade brasileira na década de 1960, sobretudo a partir do golpe de 1964. Além de situar os traços fundamentais de Quarup, o texto propõe sua articulação com outros romances do autor sobre a ditadura: Bar Don Juan (1971), Reflexos do baile (1976) e Sempreviva (1981). Tal articulação permite compreender o final do romance de 1967 como um sinal de diminuição da expectativa de revolução. Por outro lado, se enfatizarmos exclusivamente o contexto da década de 1960, Quarup pode ser lido como índice da necessária radicalização política diante do horizonte de encurtamento das possibilidades de transformações democráticas.

El artículo se concentra en dos revistas culturales centrales de la “nueva izquierda intelectual” argentina, Los Libros (1969-1976) y Cristianismo y Revolución (1967-1971). Analiza las interpretaciones y líneas políticas que ellas difundieron durante la secuencia política que se extiende entre la insurrección obrero-estudiantil del Cordobazo (1969) y la del Viborazo (1971). Para ello el artículo atiende a tres cuestiones en las que se advierten las diferencias entre la matriz marxista insurreccional con la que simpatiza Los Libros y la matriz peronista combativa difundida por Cristianismo y Revolución: la cuestión de la “vía” para alcanzar el objetivo revolucionario, la cuestión de la relación de los grupos intelectuales con las clases obreras insurreccionadas y la cuestión de la emergencia del clasismo obrero.

Four new species of the genus Cenopalpus Pritchard and Baker are described from Iran, namely: C. rubusi sp. nov.,collected from salmonberry bushes, Rubus persicae L. (Rosaceae), Sanandaj, Kurdistan province; C. prunusi sp. nov.from plum trees, Prunus domestica L. (Rosaceae), Hamedan, Hamedan province; C. khosrowshahii sp. nov. from Sophoraalopecuroides L. (Fabaceae), Hamedan, Hamedan province; and C. quercusi sp. nov. from oak trees, Quercuscastaneifolia C.A. Mey. (Fagaceae), Robat Namaki, Lorestan province. Six species are re-described: C. saryabiensisAkbar and Chaudhri, 1985, C. lanceolatisetae (Attiah, 1956), C. irani Dosse, 1971, C. abaii Khosrowshahi and Arbabi,1997, C. bakeri Düzgünes, 1967 and C. crataegi Dosse, 1971. Of these species, C. irani reaches high population density and is widespread. A key to all known Iranian species of the genus is provided.

The authors examine the successful efforts to set up the first department of Mexican American Studies, possibly the first Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) in the California State University system, the establishment of a community center, and a Black and Brown House on the campus. The article details the negotiations among administrators, students, faculty, staff, and community. The goal is to highlight how the background of the East Los Angeles Blowouts, the response to the Vietnam War, the reaction to police violence, and the rise of La Raza Unida Party were central to the success of establishing these academic and university programs. At the same time, the essay underscores how these constituencies, given their divergent interests, were able to shift the institution. The authors use archival documentation and oral histories to demonstrate their points.

Tendencje unifikacyjne w europejskim prawie autorskim zachodziły stopniowo. Początki tego procesu sięgają pierwszej połowy XIX wieku. Pierwszym krokiem były umowy bilateralne między poszczególnymi państwami. Następnie doszło do zawarcia umowy konwencyjnej w Bernie, którą wielokrotnie rewidowano (1896, 1908, 1914, 1928, 1948, 1967, 1971). Największe zasługi dla unifikacji europejskiego prawa autorskiego przypisać należy Francji oraz Belgii, które były w gronie siedmiu europejskich państw-sygnatariuszy Konwencji Berneńskiej. Z czasem do Konwencji, która obowiązuje do dziś, przystępowały kolejne państwa.

En 1965 el filósofo y teórico de la comunicación Vilém Flusser se vinculó a la nueva ciencia de lo que él denominará comunicología. Posteriormente abrió el curso de estudios de la comunicación de la Universidad FAAP en São Paulo, cuyos primeros estudiantes entraron en 1967 y salieron en 1971. Fue una reacción ante los retos de la entonces inmenente sociedad de la información y de la nueva cultura mediática, producto de la revolución y el impacto de las imágenes técnicas, de las cuales Flusser sería pionero en Brasil. Sin embargo, el ambiente intelectual durante la dictadura militar no era propicio para la actividad académica, y Flusser decidió dejar el país. The species considered in the genus Rhizopulvinaria were revised on the base of morphological and ecological data. Abstract:

Pakistan was widely hailed as a "model" of economic, especially industrial, development during the 1960s-see, for example, Papanek (1967). At the same time, the experience of Pakistan has been an important part of the basis of the seminal critiques of import-substituting industrialization by Little, Scitovsky and Scott (LSS) in (1970) and by Balassa et al. (1971). Pakistan was one of each of the sample of seven countries examined by LSS (1970) and by Balassa et ai. (1971), respectively. Indeed, within those samples, Pakistan was represented as an extreme case of the sins of import-substituting or "inward-looking" industrialization. This "outlier" in the small samples, hence bore a large part of the burden of the "proofs" of LSS (1970) and Balassa et al. (1971) This paper first attempts an assessment of these contrasting views pertaining to the 1950s and 1960s. There has been considerably less research on Pakistan's industrialization since 1970. Thus, the discussion pertaining to this period is more speculative, and some of the propositions tend to be more in the nature of hypotheses than results of research.

In the present paper, we have studied Kaehlerian recurrent and symmetric spaces of second order by taking different curvature tensor and relations between them. Also several theorems have been established therein.

The distinctiveness of the genus from Typhloiulus is proven by both morphological and molecular data. The monotypic genus Alpityphlus Strasser, 1967 is here treated as a junior subjective synonym of Stygiiulus syn. nov. Stygiiulus fimbriatus comb. et stat. nov. and S. gentianae comb. et stat. nov., originally described as subspecies of S. ausugi comb. nov., are here erected to full species, while the subspecies S. illyricus stygis (Verhoeff, 1933) comb. et syn. nov. is considered to be a junior subjective synonym of the typical S. illyricus comb. nov. Lectotypes are formally designated for S. gentianae comb. et stat. nov. and S. rotundatus comb. et stat. nov., to stabilize the nomenclature of the two species under Article 74.1 of the ICZN. In September 1971 Congress repealed the Emergency Detention Act, Title II of the McCarran Internal Security Act of 1950. This act had authorized the President to apprehend and detain any person suspected as a threat to internal security during a national emergency. This article analyzes the Title II repeal campaign between 1967 and 1971, revealing that the public historical memories of Japanese American internment greatly influenced support for repeal in Congress and among the American public. Civil rights and antiwar protesters both feared that such a law might be used against them, but Japanese Americans had been interned during World War II. Their presence in the repeal campaign made the question of detention starkly real and the need for repeal persuasive. Conversely, their work for repeal allowed them to address a painful part of their American experience and speak publicly as a community.

We recorded three mite species, Pergamasus (Thenargamasus) instatutus Athias-Henriot, 1967, Pergamasus (Pergamasus) laminarius Witaliński, 1971 and Holoparasitus ampullaris Witaliński, 1994, from Slovakia for the first time. Mites of the genera Pergamasus Berlese, 1903 and Holoparasitus Oudemans, 1936 are predatory mites living mainly in a soil and a rotting organic matter of the Holarctic region with a centre of distribution in Europe. Till now, P. instatutus was recorded in Austria and Hungary, while P. laminarius and H. ampullaris were known only from Poland.

ABSTRACT: The phenomenon of the secret bilateral negotiations that took place between Israel and Jordan over routine security measures was unique in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Israel had exhorted Jordan to suppress the Palestinian organizations' Fidaʾī activity, and the expectation was high that the combination of political pressure and military retaliation would force King Hussein to quell the Fida'iyyun. The Israelis tried to differentiate between the Fida'iyyun and the political situation while the Hashemite regime sought to restrain Israel's responses by laying out its efforts to suppress Fidaʾī activity. King Hussein's strategy hinged on progress in the political arena and a corresponding ability or intention to suppress the Fida'iyyun without destabilizing his regime. Although the IDF ousted the guerrillas from the West Bank and blocked them from the Jordan Valley and the eastern border, it failed to eliminate them, and the mortar fire and rocket barrages on Beit She'an and the Jordan Valley settlements persisted until the eruption of civil war in Jordan in September 1970. In this regard, Israel's policy of retaliation was unsuccessful, and the guerrilla bases were ultimately eradicated by and large due to the threat they posed as "a state within a state" to the Hashemite regime. The talks between Israel and Jordan are examined here via the diaries of Yaakov Herzog who was Director of the Prime Minister's Office.

The political liberalisation of the 1960s had its echo also in reflections about the need to democratise the Czechoslovak electoral system. Elections in communist Czechoslovakia were a farce: they were held in single-member districts, in which only one candidate run, leaving the voter with no choice. Act No 113/1967 of 30 November 1967 on elections to the National Assembly, and the accompanying Act No 114/1967 on elections to national committees, introduced multi-member districts in which the number of candidates was higher than the number of seats. Thus, for the first time since the 1948 elections, voters were given the chance to choose from a multitude of canditates, not just one. The first elections to be held this way were planned for the spring of 1968, but were – also in the context of the preparation of the constitutional act on the federal system – postponed first to autumn 1968 and then to the following year. The Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia, which began on 21 August 1968, and the onset of what is called normalisation meant that the electoral reform was not realized at all. In the autumn of 1969, elections were again postponed until 1971. For these elections, a new electoral law was adopted, bringing back the old practice of single-member districts with but one candidate running. The elections held in 1976, 1981 and 1986 followed that undemocratic procedure.

We introduce a new command, xtusreg, that estimates parameters of fixed-effects dynamic panel regression models under unequal time spacing. After reviewing the method, we examine the finite-sample performance of the command using simulated data. We also illustrate the command with the National Longitudinal Survey Original Cohorts: Older Men, whose personal interviews took place in the unequally spaced years of 1966, 1967, 1969, 1971, 1976, 1981, and 1990. The methods underlying xtusreg are those discussed by Sasaki and Xin (2017, Journal of Econometrics 196: 320–330).
