Abstract:
ObjectiveThis study assessed the association between sleep duration, perceived organisational support (POS), personal resilience and anxiety among non-hospitalised residents during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ningbo, China.MethodsIn this cross-sectional study, an online survey was conducted from 27 January 2023 to 5 February 2023, involving non-hospitalised residents over 14 years old in Ningbo. We received 1938 valid responses. The study used the General Demographic Characteristics Scale, the Generalised Anxiety Disorder Scale, Brief Resilient Coping Scale and the POS questionnaire.ResultsAmong the 1938 valid questionnaires, 1068 (55.1%) participants reported anxiety. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that high organisational support (β=–0.34, adjusted OR (aOR) 0.71, 95% CI 0.51 to 0.98, p=0.038), moderate resilience (β=–0.26, aOR 0.77, 95% CI 0.63 to 0.95, p=0.013), high resilience (β=–0.67, aOR 0.51, 95% CI 0.36 to 0.73, p<0.001) and sleep duration of ≥7 hours (β=–1.00, aOR 0.37, 95% CI 0.28 to 0.49, p<0.001) were significantly associated with anxiety. Participant characteristics were not associated with anxiety.ConclusionsDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, organisational support, personal resilience and adequate sleep duration were associated with anxiety among non-hospitalised residents. These findings highlight the importance of increasing organisational support, implementing interventions that promote resilience and stress management, ensuring sufficient rest and sleep duration, and helping residents better manage anxiety.

Abstract:
Jarcho Levin syndrome was first described by Saul Jarcho and Paul Levin in 1938. The syndrome is characterized by multiple skeletal deformities due to axial skeletal developmental defects during the embryologic stage. Generalized vertebral defects include fused, missing, or deformed vertebrae, and these are seen throughout the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. The patients have short stature and kyphoscoliosis. In pregnancy, these skeletal defects may have pronounced effects on the parturient and the baby, so special considerations are needed by the obstetricians as well as the obstetric anesthesiologists. This case report highlights the challenges our anesthesiology team faces while providing patient care and points out the different anesthetic management approaches that can be used in cesarean delivery for parturients with spondylocostal dysostosis. AbstractOn May 22, 1989 the Japanese Ginga Team discovered a new X-ray source that was cataloged as GS 2023+338. This source was subsequently identified as coincident in position with a previously known nova cataloged as V404 Cygni. Its last recorded outburst was in 1938 when it rose to about 12th mag. Spectroscopic data were obtained and confirmed the nature of the outburst. Additional ground based data were obtained by us at CTIO and the VLA. The X-ray behavior of this object has been reported to be very unusual and it reached a peak of about 17 crab about one week after discovery. Since then it has varied widely in magnitude at all wavelengths at which it has been studied. We present a brief summary of the observations that have been obtained up to the time of the meeting and shortly thereafter.

Abstract:
February 13, 2023, is the 150th anniversary of the birth of the phenomenal opera singer, worldfamous bass Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin (1873-1938). Chaliapin’s voice is an undeniable phenomenon in the world vocal art. It was comparable to a Stradivarius violin in its uniqueness and flight. It is the art of intonational reincarnation, subtle work of conveying the psychological characters of heroes. His scale went beyond the scope of one vocal art, because he was also a brilliant actor, sculptor, painter and wrote superbly. The latter is evidenced by his correspondence and friendship with the writer Maxim Gorky. The genius of the performer was confirmed by the rave reviews of both his contemporaries: Sergei Rachmaninoff, Konstantin Stanislavsky, Leonid Andreev, and an extensive list of research literature that problematized the phenomenon of Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin. This is a great art that we will have to study and learn from the great bass for a long time to come.

Abstract:
Salidroside is a natural compound found in the plant Rhodiola rosea. It has been the subject of scientific research due to its potential health benefits. Xie and colleagues investigated the effect of salidroside on dexamethasone-induced inhibition of bone formation and found that it may alleviate this inhibition. The study investigated whether salidroside could counteract the inhibitory effects of dexamethasone on bone formation. The researchers focused on the TGF-β/Smad2/3 signaling pathway, which plays a crucial role in regulating bone metabolism. Salidroside increased the expression of osteopontin (OPN), runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), osterix (Osx), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) proteins and promoted the phosphorylation of Smad2/3 in MC3T3-E1 cells treated with dexamethasone. The results of the study demonstrated that salidroside treatment mitigated the dexamethasone-induced inhibition of osteogenic differentiation and bone formation. Salidroside was found to promote the activation of the TGF-β/Smad2/3 signaling pathway, which is involved in bone formation and remodeling processes. Abstract:

Abstract:
In 2023 marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Soviet historian Mikhail Jakovlevich Sjuzjumov (1893-1982). The anniversary of the largest Russian Byzantinist of the twentieth century coincides with the 85th anniversary of the birth of his student, Doctor of Historical Sciences Vladimir Vasilievich Kuchma (1938-2011). Close attention has been paid to the scientific biography of M.Ja. Sjuzjumov in recent years. However, the question of his scientific interaction with students who left Sverdlovsk, but continued their research on Roman (Byzantine) history, is little studied. The article examines the scientific contacts of Professor Sjuzjumov with V.V. Kuchma after defending his candidate thesis and moving to Volgograd. The article for the first time publishes documents from the State Archive of the Sverdlovsk region and the Archive of the Ural Federal University, the most valuable of which are the letters of the Volgograd historian to his supervisor. The analysis of archival materials shows that V.V. Kuchma, who was engaged in the study of Roman (Byzantine) military affairs, relied on the M.Ja. Sjuzjumov’ theory of dialectical continuity. This was expressed in V.V. Kuchma’s doctoral thesis, as well as in his publication of Byzantine military treatises.

Abstract:
Montong Baan Village is one of 14 villages in Sikur District, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. This village is a division of East Suradadi Village, established on November 3, 1938. Most of the people in this village work as crops (tomatoes and chilies) farmers. However, the lack of awareness related to the processing of agricultural products makes the community only depend on the livelihoods of farmers, whereas if the agricultural products are processed, they can make a product with high selling value. Therefore, the purpose of the University of Mataram Thematic Desapreneur Community Service Program for the period December 2022 - February 2023 is to help people create businesses by utilizing tomatoes through outreach and training in making tomato sauce. The stages carried out during the training were mixing ingredients, cooking, packaging, and marketing. The results obtained from this tomato sauce making training are that the people in Montong Baan Village can produce tomato sauce products that have been packaged and labeled and are ready to be marketed. Apart from that, the training on making tomato sauce in Montong Baan Village will certainly open up business opportunities and improve the economy for the community.

Abstract:
The Caldecott Medal is renowned for honoring exceptional children’s literature, with a significant emphasis on multicultural education. These celebrated books play a pivotal role in early multicultural education, influencing children’s understanding of cultural diversity and aiding in language development. This research analyzes 25 multicultural Caldecott Medal recipients from 1938 to 2023, categorizing them according to six multicultural education philosophies: assimilation, amalgamation, pluralism, cross-cultural competence, critical awareness, and social action. The study also identifies dominant trends of these philosophies over time. Key findings are as follows: 1) Pluralism is the most prevalent typology, consistently represented across various decades, even during eras when assimilation and amalgamation were predominant; 2) A comparative analysis of the 20th and 21st centuries indicates a notable shift in multicultural education philosophies, moving from pluralism towards social action. This shift reflects a contemporary focus on proactive measures for societal change, going beyond mere recognition of cultural diversity. This study implies that a detailed understanding of the multicultural aspects of Caldecott Medal-winning books based on their embedded philosophies can significantly enhance their effective utilization in both multicultural and language education settings.
