Abstract:
Prof. dr. dr. h. c. mult. Walter Liese (1926–2023) je bil vodilni znanstvenik, učitelj, mentor, direktor, vodja, predsednik IUFRO, večkratni častni doktor in ambasador znanosti na področju gozdarstva in lesarstva. Po diplomi in doktoratu iz gozdarstva je opravil pionirsko in izjemno življenjsko delo na področju elektronske mikroskopije ter biologije in zaščite lesa ter bambusa. V obdobju 1963–1991 je deloval kot profesor na Univerzi v Hamburgu, vodja inštituta za Biologijo in zaščito lesa in direktor Zveznega raziskovalnega centra za gozdarstvo in lesarstvo. Njegovo delo je imelo izjemen vpliv na razvoj znanosti in laboratoriji, ki jih je vodil, so bili referenčna točka za znanost o lesu in bambusu na svetu. Bil je aktiven član svetovne organizacije IUFRO in v letih 1977–1981 njen predsednik ter izjemen ambasador znanosti in povezovalec. Vsestransko je podpiral znanstveno skupnost v Sloveniji. Leta 1994 je kot prvi znanstvenik s področja gozdarstva in lesarstva prejel častni doktorat Univerze v Ljubljani. Tudi po uradni upokojitvi je nadaljeval z raziskovalnim delom in ostal povezan s svetovno znanstveno skupnostjo.

Abstract:
Esta investigación tiene como objeto el estudio del legado teórico y arquitectónico de Joan Rubió i Bellver (Reus, 1870 - Barcelona, 1952) en el contexto mallorquín. Rubió i Bellver acompañó a su maestro, Antoni Gaudí, a Palma de Mallorca para colaborar con él en las obras de reforma de la Seu. A partir de esa circunstancia se forja una relación muy especial con la isla que derivará en una retroalimentación fundamental para ambas partes. Esta colaboración fue el punto de partida para desarrollar toda otra serie de proyectos diseminados alrededor de la isla; la revisión del catálogo de todas esas obras que dejó en Mallorca constituye uno de los retos importantes del presente estudio.

Rubió se convirtió en el principal embajador del gaudinismo en la isla de Mallorca. Mediante todos los proyectos que Rubió dejó repartidos por la isla estaba contribuyendo a la difusión de la nueva arquitectura creada por su maestro, Antoni Gaudí. No sólo contó para estos cometidos con la ayuda de alguno de sus frecuentes colaboradores y amigos catalanes, sino que actuó de acuerdo a unas pautas que como referente último tendrían a Gaudí. Si bien es cierto que otros catalanes pasaron por la isla, véase Domènech i Montaner o Madorell, es nuestro arquitecto quien se involucró más en la idiosincrasia y el contexto mallorquín del momento, convirtiéndose en el arquitecto modernista catalán con más obra en Mallorca.

La presente investigación analiza la presencia de Rubió en Mallorca como una estrategia de un grupo reducido de intelectuales -fundamentalmente religiosos- para vincularse a Cataluña y hacerse partícipes del sentimiento nacionalista tan ferviente en aquellos años. Figuras como el obispo Campins o el vicario general Alcover son fundamentales en los encargos que Rubió recibe en la isla respondiendo esto, en última instancia, a un movimiento deliberado con los propósitos arriba mencionados. La presencia de Rubió en lugares de la isla a priori inconexos y, si cabe, algo insólitos, respondería a esta estudiada estrategia de los religiosos.

Tal vez sea su faceta como teórico aquella más desconocida, sorprendiendo muy especialmente el hecho de que, directa o indirectamente, con frecuencia aparece vinculada a Mallorca. Prácticamente un tercio del volumen de sus textos tienen como objeto algún tema o arquitectura de la isla. Varios de estos escritos fueron publicados, además, en diarios mallorquines. Dentro de todo este legado escrito interesan muy especialmente las aportaciones que se refieren al gótico meridional, siendo uno de los primeros en tomar conciencia de unas diferencias estilísticas con respecto al más popular gótico nórdico. Cabe entender estas reflexiones como parte de su sentir nacionalista y de su continua búsqueda de unas raíces comunes en todos lo países catalanes. Estas conclusiones las extrae, en su mayoría, a propósito de las exhaustivas y rigurosas investigaciones que lleva a cabo en la catedral de Mallorca, convirtiéndose estas también en estudios sin precedentes y esenciales para el conocimiento de este templo. El legado teórico de Rubió es lo que traduce más claramente su personalidad e ideología, siendo esencial para la óptima comprensión de sus arquitecturas. Su paso por Mallorca y, en especial todas sus reflexiones y estudios que de esta derivaron son fundamentales para comprender la trayectoria profesional de Rubió como arquitecto.

The aim of this research is the study of the theoretical and architectural legacy of Joan Rubió i Bellver (Reus, 1879 - Barcelona, 1952) in Mallorca. Rubió I Bellver went to Palma de Mallorca with his master, Antoni Gaudí, to collaborate with him in the works of La Seu. This collaboration set up the start for the development of a series of projects that were carried out around the island; the revision of the catalogue of all the works he left in Mallorca, is one of the most important challenges of this study.

This research analyses the presence of Rubio in Mallorca as a result of a strategy of a reduced group of intellectuals, mainly religious, in order to be related to Cataluña and take part of the nationalism that was a strong and determinant feeling at that time. Figures as the bishop Campins or the General Vicar Alcover, played an extremely important roll in involving Rubio in different projects in Mallorca.

His work as theoretician, is probably the less known side of Rubio, and specially surprising is the fact that directly or indirectly it is frequently related to Mallorca. Nearly a third of his writing is based on the architecture or other subjects of interest in the island. Moreover, several of these articles were published in newspapers of Mallorca.

Within all this written legacy, the most interesting are those referred to the Southern Gothic, being Rubió one of the pioneer in clearly establishing the differences between the above mentioned style and the most popular Northern Gothic. His statements were likely due to his nationalism and his constant research of a common identifier in all of the Catalonian Countries.

The majority of his conclusions were based on the exhaustive and rigorous research he carried out in the Cathedral of Mallorca, which became essential for the further knowledge of the temple. His work in Mallorca, and mainly his conclusions and consequents studies are of the most importance in order to understand the professional performance of Rubió as architect.

La question de l'oiseau dans la poésie contemporaine se pose avec une certaine évidence. Impossible, semble-t-il, d'ouvrir un recueil de poèmes sans tomber à de nombreuses reprises sur des références explicites à l'oiseau : à son vol bien sûr, mais aussi à son chant, à sa présence discrète mais permanente. Comment expliquer cette re��currence dans la production contemporaine ? Et qu'est-ce qui constitue la singularité de l'oiseau dans le règne animal ? Après avoir justifié le rapprochement des trois poètes de notre corpus, nous avons fondé notre travail selon des perspectives analogiques et transdisciplinaires. Renouant à un certain degré avec la mystique médiévale, la poésie cherche les frontières de l'homme dans l'univers-macrocosme. L'oiseau, qui semble une limite ultime pour le psychisme humain, nous permet de redéfinir l'animalité selon un principe de "consanguinité" (Saint-John Perse). Contre la propension moderne à l'émiettement, au dispersé, au catalogique, cette pensée analogique à l'œuvre dans la production poétique de nos auteurs, cherche à reconstituer la trame et à "recoudre l'univers". La dimension métaphysique, souvent non revendiquée chez nos poètes, reste ainsi constamment sous-jacente. Au-delà d'une lecture du réel qui s'appuie sur la précision de la science, une "autre dimension", proche de l'Ouvert rilkéen, imprègne leurs œuvres. L'oiseau, à travers les motifs du vol et du chant, dessine alors les contours d'une poétique liée à la modernité esthétique
The question of the bird in contemporary poetry seems to be obvious. It's really impossible to open a collection of poems without seeing lots of explicit references to the bird : his fly, his singing, and his discreet but permanent presence. How to explain this recurrence in contemporary production ? And what's the foundation of the bird's particularity in the animal kingdom ? After justifying the connection of the three poets of our corpus, we based our work on analogical and transdiciplinary viewpoints. Reviving the medieval mysticism, poetry looks for the limits of human nature in the world-macrocosm. The bird, that seems the last limit for the human psychism, allows us to redefine animality in accordance with a principle of "consanguinity" (Saint-John Perse). Against the modern proclivity to dispersion and catalogue, this analogical thought circulating in the poems of our authors, wants to reconstruct the weft, to "sew up the universe". The metaphysical dimension, that is not often clearly claimed by our poets, is always underlying. Beyond a description of the real world, that is leaning on the precision of the science, another dimension, verging on rilkean "Ouvert", impregnates their works. The bird, through the patterns of the flight and the singing, draws the lines of poetics linked by aesthetic modernity

İnsanoğlu var olduğu sürece haberleşme ihtiyacı duymuş ve bunu zaman içerisinde çeşitli yollar ile gidermiştir. Gerek mağara resimleri gerekse duman ile veya eğitilmiş güvercinler ile bu gereksinim bir şekilde karşılanmaya çalışılmıştır. Yıllar içerisinde yapılan çalışmalar bu gereksinimi karşılamak için çok yoğunlaşmış, matbaa ve sonrasında kablolu haberleşmenin ilk aletleri olan telgraflar ile devam etmiştir. 1838 yılında telgraf, 1876 yılında telefon ile devam eden kablolu haberleşmeye 1926 yılında ilk olarak görüntü gönderimi de eklenmiştir. 1970’li yıllarda ise artık kablosuz haberleşmeler ön plana çıkmıştır. Mobil telefonlar ve hiç şüphesiz uydu haberleşmeleri artık günlük hayat için olağan haberleşme yöntemleri olma yolculuğuna başlamıştır. Uydu haberleşmesi yolculuğu alanında ise Türkiye ilk başlarda yabancı uydu kuruluşlarından uydu kanalı kiralama yoluna gitse de bu kullanışın stratejik ve ekonomik olmadığı da dikkate alınarak Milli Uydu Sistemlerimizin gerçekleştirilmesi için çalışmaların yapılmasına karar verilmiştir. Bu hedefi gerçekleştirmek için Türkiye, 1990’lı yıllardan itibaren uydu çalışmalarına başlamıştır. İlk uydumuz Türksat-1A roketin üçüncü katındaki bir arıza nedeniyle okyanusa düşmüş ancak 11 Ağustos 1994’te Türksat-1B haberleşme uydusu uzaya fırlatılmıştır. Akabinde TÜRKSAT-1C, TÜRKSAT-2A, TÜRKSAT-3A, TÜRKSAT-4A, TÜRKSAT-4B, TÜRKSAT-5A, TÜRKSAT-5B uyduları başarı ile fırlatılmış ve bu uydular T3A, T4A, T4B, T5A ve T5B görevlerine devam etmektedir. Yerli imkânlarla üretilen TÜRKSAT-6A uydusu 2023’te fırlatılması planlanmaktadır. 2023 yılının 2. çeyreğinde TÜRKSAT-6A uydusunun test faaliyetlerinin tamamlanarak nakliye için hazır hale getirilmesi, 3.çeyreği içinde ise bu uydunun fırlatılması planlanmaktadır. TÜRKSAT-6A kapsamında elde edilen tecrübe, altyapı ve uçuş donanımlarının gelecekteki uydu programlarımızda kullanılması ve bu sayede uydu sektöründeki yurt dışı bağımlığının azaltılması amaçlanmaktadır. BİLSAT ve RASAT, TÜBİTAK UZAY tarafından geliştirilen alçak yörünge uydularıdır. Yine alçak yörünge uyduları olan GÖKTÜRK-1, GÖKTÜRK-2 yüksek çözünürlüklü Elektro-Optik (E/O) kamera taşıyan uydulardır. GÖKTÜRK-1 Projesi kapsamında uzay ve uydu sistemlerine yönelik teknoloji, uzman insan gücü ve altyapı geliştirilmesinin yanı sıra ülkemizin gelecekteki gözlem ve haberleşme uydularının yurtiçinde üretilmesine yönelik kritik bir altyapı olan Uydu Montaj, Entegrasyon ve Test (USET) Merkezi kurulmuştur. Yukarıda sayılan gelişmeler kaçınılmaz olarak ülke içerisindeki kurum-kuruluş ve genç mühendislere ilham olmuş ve artık LEO yörüngede uydu geliştirme faaliyetleri hız kazanmıştır. Bu alandaki milli hareketlenmeye TÜRKSAT Model Uydu Yarışması da öncülük etmiş ve sonrasında bu yarışma TEKNOFEST bünyesine alınmıştır. Abstract:
Este texto comunica os resultados de uma pesquisa que investigou o discurso sobre o uso do cinema para educar crianças a partir de incursões investigativas na revista Cinearte (1926-1942). Do ponto de vista teórico-metodológico, considerou-se a abordagem arqueológica do discurso, proposta por Michel Foucault (2009), como caminho norteador para análise dos dados. Tomou-se como fontes de pesquisa as 561 edições da revista Cinearte, publicadas no período de 1926 a 1942, disponibilizadas na plataforma digital da Biblioteca Nacional Brasileira. Em comparação a outros periódicos em exibição no mesmo período, a Cinearte se destacou pelo fato de defender o cinema como recurso auxiliar da educação, sobretudo voltado ao ensino de crianças. Essa foi uma das razões pelas quais se considerou importante prosseguir com o estudo realizado. Dos resultados obtidos na pesquisa, concluiu-se que o discurso sobre o uso do cinema para educar crianças, acionado pela revista Cinearte, constituiu-se a partir de duas formações discursivas: (1) uma, na qual o cinema era tratado como auxiliar do ensino de crianças, (2) outra, na qual era evidenciado a necessidade de adequar o cinema ao público expectador, particularmente o infantil. Da primeira formação discursiva, chegou-se ao entendimento de que a eficiência quanto ao uso do cinema para educar crianças esteve alinhado à ideia de que ele poderia atrair a atenção do público infantil, auxiliar seu trabalho mental e apresentar fenômenos e fatos distantes de sua realidade. Quanto à segunda formação discursiva, notou-se que, ao ser posicionado como instrumento que precisava ser adequado às crianças, o cinema foi noticiado pela Cinearte como um recurso impróprio.

Abstract:
There has been a need for communication since the existence of mankind. The man has tried to solve this problem in various ways, such as, by using cave paintings, smoke, fire, or trained pigeons. The printing press was the main tool for communication for some years and then the telegraphs were the first tools of wired communication. The telegraph was introduced in 1838 and the telephone in 1876. Image sending was used for the first time in 1926. In the 1970s, wireless communications became eminent. Today, mobile telephone and satellite communications become the usual means of communication for daily life. For satellite communications, Türkiye initially chose to rent satellite channels from foreign satellite companies. But this was neither strategical nor economical, so Turkish authorities decided to establish Türkiye’s own National Satellite Systems. In order to achieve this goal, Türkiye has started satellite studies since the 1990s. The first Turkish own satellite TÜRKSAT-1A crashed into the ocean due to a malfunction on the third floor of the rocket. On 11 August 1994, TÜRKSAT-1B communication satellite was launched into space. TÜRKSAT-1B, TÜRKSAT-1C, TÜRKSAT-2A, TÜRKSAT-3A, TÜRKSAT-4A, TÜRKSAT-4B, TÜRKSAT-5A, TÜRKSAT-5B were successfully launched and for the time being TÜRKSAT-3A, TÜRKSAT-4A, TÜRKSAT-4B, TÜRKSAT-5A and TÜRKSAT-5B have been continuing their duties. TÜRKSAT-6A, which was produced with domestic resources, is planned to be launched in 2023. It is planned to complete the test activities of the TÜRKSAT-6A satellite in the 2nd quarter of 2023 and to make it ready for transportation and to launch it in the 3rd quarter. It is aimed to use the experience, infrastructure and flight equipment gained within the scope of TÜRKSAT-6A in our future satellite programs, thereby reducing foreign dependency in the satellite sector. BİLSAT and RASAT, are low orbit satellites developed by TÜBİTAK UZAY. GÖKTÜRK-1 and GÖKTÜRK-2, which are also low orbit satellites, can carry high resolution Electro-Optic (E/O) cameras. Within the scope of the GÖKTÜRK-1 Project, the Satellite Assembly, Integration and Test Center (USET) was established. This center was a critical infrastructure for the domestic production of communication satellites. The above-mentioned developments inevitably inspired institutions-organizations and young engineers in Türkiye and increased momentum for satellite development activities in LEO orbit. The TÜRKSAT Model Satellite Competition also pioneered the national mobilization in this field. Afterwards, this competition was included in TEKNOFEST. TÜRKSAT organizes the 7th Model Satellite Competition. TÜRKSAT aims to train human resources in the field of satellite and space technologies. While fulfilling these objectives, TÜRKSAT will increase the quality of human resources and provide a certification service in the field of satellite and space science. This will be beneficial for our friendly countries. Digitally produced training materials will be presented to the relevant international units so that a sustainable system will be established. This system will minimize the negative human factor and will provide universally accepted certificates to be produced. This system will be able to be used by the universities and students may have certificates during their education.

A produção de vídeo sobre o Rio Grangeiro tendo-o como elemento chave para trabalhar a degradação dos rios, os impactos da poluição ambiental e a especulação imobiliária como agente potencializador do desmatamento, poluição dos rios e nascentes. Trilha ecológica no Sítio Fundão, importante Unidade de Conservação, dentro da qual corre o Rio Batateira. A trilha se constituiu como instrumento metodológico para sensibilizar os alunos da necessidade de cuidar do meio ambiente rompendo com a visão homem versus natureza, enxergando os entrelaçamentos entre essas duas esferas. Oficina de réplicas de fósseis, destacando a importância de seu estudo, preservação e combate ao tráfico ilegal de fósseis. As ações pedagógicas possibilitaram aos estudantes conhecer como se deu a relação do homem com o meio ambiente, do início da colonização ao tempo presente, no município de Crato, e identificar os impactos ambientais decorrentes desse processo colonizador. Norteamos as atividades numa postura crítica evitando uma visão romântica do desenvolvimento sustentável no turismo (MESQUITA 2006), ressaltando os impactos ambientais do turismo ecológico (RUSCHMANN, 1992) contribuindo para a formação de uma compreensão crítica por parte dos estudantes.

Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to examine the perceptions of educators in the disaster area regarding the positive and negative aspects of distance education and their views on how the process is experienced in the field of education, in the Kahramanmaras-centered earthquake that occurred in 11 provinces of Turkey in February 2023. After determining the basic research questions for the purpose of the research, a case study design was adopted with a qualitative approach in order to obtain the expert opinions and suggestions of educators providing distance education in the disaster area during the data collection phase. The educators were interviewed using Google Forms, and they were asked to answer the semi-structured open-ended questions directed to them. The answers given by the educators were subjected to content analysis. Some of the themes obtained in this direction can be listed as follows: dynamic and updated education process, raising awareness of the people living in the region, a potential to benefit from lifelong learning, and access to true and reliable information resources.

Abstract Infants born extremely prematurely present significant clinical and population health challenges. Advances in clinical monitoring can potentially drive improvements in survival and long-term outcomes in this vulnerable population. In this study, a multi-function catheter with ECG, pressure, and temperature sensors is developed and the performance and ideal lead location are tested in a rat model. The ECG signals, transdiaphragmatic pressure, and core body temperature of the rat were recorded from a modified multi-electrode gastric feeding tube with one pressure sensor at the tip and another pressure sensor and temperature sensor at 6 cm from the trip. The ECG signals were obtained from esophageal electrodes in multiple locations and eventually, optimal electrode locations were identified at 4 and 6 cm from the tip of the feeding tube. Reliable pressure signals at a pressure range of 0-0.2psi (0-14 cm H2O) were obtained from pressure sensors placed above and below the diaphragm. A core temperature of ~41°C was recorded from the temperature sensor which was elevated relative to the rectal temperature measurements due to the experimental setup used. Our multifunction catheter proved to provide a reliable, strong, high resolution and low noise ECG signal from the esophageal electrodes in an animal model equivalent in size to the preterm infant. In addition, continuous pressure and temperature recordings can simultaneously be extracted, with all 3 sensors contained within a less than 3 mm diameter tube as is routinely used in this population. Integration of these multiple components into a feeding tube, which is already universally used in this population purely for nutrition, will provide significant advances in vital sign monitoring while reducing risk to vulnerable preterm infants.

The construction industry has been one of the most hazardous and waste-generating industries in the United States for decades, due to the unique nature of work and high degree of organizational complexity on jobsites. A number of citations against OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) 29 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction, primarily in sections that address fall protection and safety training in construction, appear in OSHA’s annual top 10 list of most frequently cited violations consistently. Innovative, science-based, and technology-driven solutions become more and more utilized in the construction industry. Examples of these solutions include: situated learning approach to improve the effectiveness of training, wearable technology to enhance personal protection, remote-controlled drones to perform various functions specially to improve site security, prevention through design concept to minimize risks, total worker health initiative to advance worker well-being, etc. It is imperative that safety, health, and environmental professionals should attempt to clearly understand the impact of these emerging technologies on construction safety and health, and be able to apply scientific principles to anticipate, identify, analyze, and control workplace hazards within the construction industry. Specifically, the pros and cons of each solution need to be examined and compared in order to identify effective methods to promote sustainable workforce and improve safety and health in construction.

In this presentation, I will introduce R&D at Hamamatsu Photonics. Hamamatsu, it’s the city name, is almost located in the center of Tokyo and Osaka, and has long been a "manufacturing town" represented by the "Yaramaika spirit (Let’s do it !)”. Many companies such as Yamaha and Kawai for musical instruments, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha for motorcycles, and many others were founded here in Hamamatsu. The origin of Hamamatsu Photonics can be traced back to the vacuum tube technology of Prof. Kenjiro Takayanagi, who invented "the world's first electronic television" at Hamamatsu Technical College (currently Faculty of Engineering, Shizuoka University) in 1926. Hamamatsu Photonics was established in Hamamatsu City in 1953 as an "optical device manufacturer" by Heihachiro Horiuchi (1st president) who had graduated from the Takayanagi Laboratory, and Teruo Hiruma (2nd president). Here, we will introduce the history of Hamamatsu Photonics' contributions to advanced scientific research, including the development of 20-inch photomultiplier tubes for neutrino detection and Si detectors for Higgs boson detection. We also introduce spatial light modulator technology that are being put to practical use in super-resolution microscopy and laser processing. We think our mission is to benefit society through the development of technologies that capture, measure, and generate various types of light.

ABSTRACT The development of cement slurry with specified qualities, such as high density, is necessary to overbalance the high-pressure formations while cementing deep and ultra-deep oil wells. Hematite is now primarily utilized as a weighing material in oil fields, although its use raises several operational and environmental issues. The creation of a non-elastic cement matrix and cement segregation are the two most frequent problems associated with using hematite as a weighing ingredient. This study examined the effectiveness of using magnetite as a weighing component when cementing a deep production casing at a depth of 15,000 feet. The magnetite used in this study has a particle size of 18.84 μm and is composed of more than 99% iron. In-depth laboratory research was done on the performance of 18.0 ppg hematite- and magnetite-weighted cement slurry. In this work, the qualities of cement segregation, compressive and tensile strength, porosity and permeability, and elastic properties were investigated. This study demonstrated that using magnetite instead of hematite as a cement-weighting material might be successful. The density of the created magnetite-based cement system varies very slightly along the depth of the well, with only a 7.3% difference between the top and bottom of the cement. Both the casing and the drilled formations may be supported by the magnetite-based cement's high compressive and tensile strengths of 65.1 and 8.1 MPa, respectively. Additionally, impenetrable, the cement system created with magnetite has a permeability of only 0.003 mD. The capacity of the Magnetite-based system to lower the Poisson's ratio and boost cement elasticity, which is highly essential, especially for very deep wells, was confirmed when Poisson's ratio for the system created in this work was compared with that of hematite-based. INTRODUCTION Weighting materials are used to increase the drilling fluid's density to successfully balance the higher pressures in deep wells (Caenn et al., 2011; Hossain & Al-Majed, 2015; Stroud BK, 1922, 1926). When dealing with unbalanced wellbores, deformable/plastic formations, and high pore pressures, high mud weight above 18 ppg can be utilized, and cement samples of equivalent weight should be used (Magarini et al., 1999). The well may never produce its most total capacity without effectively isolating problematic zones (Nelson, 1990). Primary oil-well cementing procedures are carried out to meet various goals, including inhibiting fluid communication and flow between drilled formations and the wellbore, shielding the casing from acidic liquid attack, and supporting the casing (Mitchell & Miska, 2011).
