Abstract:
Borradaile (1915) established Falciger Borradaile, 1915, as a subgenus of Periclimenes Costa, 1844, for nine species described by him as new to science: Periclimenes (Falciger) nilandensis Borradaile, 1915; P. (F.) affinis Borradaile, 1915; P. (F.) dubius Borradaile, 1915; P. (F.) compressus Borradaile, 1915; P. (F.) brocketti Borradaile, 1915; P. (F.) pottsi Borradaile, 1915; P. (F.) suvadivensis Borradaile, 1915; P. (F.) seychellensis Borradaile, 1915; and P. (F.) kolumadulensis Borradaile, 1915. Two years later, Borradaile (1917) increased the number of species in the subgenus up to 27, and designated Periclimenes petitthouarsi var. spinifera De Man, 1902, now considered to be Periclimenella spinifera (De Man, 1902), as the type species of the subgenus. Subsequently, Holthuis (1955) designated P. (F.) nilandensis as the type species because Periclimenes petitthouarsi var. spinifera was not included in the original description of Falciger by Borradaile (1915) (see ICZN 1999: Article 67.2). Earlier, Clark (1919) had proposed a replacement generic name Cuapetes Clark, 1919 for Borradaile’s Falciger, since the latter name is a junior homonym of Falciger Say, 1824 (Insecta: Coleoptera), Falciger Bucholz, 1869 (Arachnida: Arachnoidea), and Falciger Trouessart and Mégnin, 1883 (Arachnida: Arachnoidea) (see Holthuis 1993). Following current nomenclatorial rules, the type species of Cuapetes must thus be regarded to be P. (F.) nilandensis (see ICZN 1999: Article 67.8). Until now, shrimp taxonomists have always considered Cuapetes as a junior synonym of Periclimenes sensu lato (see Holthuis 1993; Chace and Bruce 1993), but a situation is herein corrected.

Abstract:

Abstract:
During the last decades, qualitative biographical/narrative methods gained a prominent position within the spectrum of social science methodology and research practice, mainly due to a reaction to the positivist-empiricist dominance and associated views of social reality. After an initial interest to biographical methods, which followed the edition of ‘The Polish Peasant in Europe and America (1919-1921)’ by Thomas and Znaniecki (1958), biographical and generally qualitative research methods gave way to empiricist-quantitative approaches and only since the end of 1960 the positivist domination begun to be unsettled (Halfacree and Boyle 1993; Findlay and Li 1997; Tsiolis 2006).

AbstractWe determined length, area, elevation and volume change of the Columbia Icefield using Interprovincial Boundary Commission Survey maps from 1919, eight sets of aerial photographs from 1948 to 1993, and satellite data from 1999 to 2009. Over the period 1919–2009, glaciers on average retreated 1150 ± 34 m and shrank by 2.4 ± 0.2 km2. Total area loss was 59.6 ± 1.2 km2 (23 ± 5%), and mean elevation change was −49 ± 25 m w.e., resulting in a total volume loss of 14.3 ± 2.0 km3 w.e. Large outlet glaciers experienced the greatest absolute ice loss, while small, detached glaciers lost the most relative length and area. Thinning rates of debris-covered ice were 30–60% lower than those for clean ice. All glacier changes were significantly correlated with each other (p < 0.01), with r values ranging from 0.54 to 0.82. Temperature is correlated with length and area change over periods lagged 1–5 years (p < 0.05), and with elevation and volume change over periods lagged 9–18 years (p < 0.05). Precipitation is correlated with glacier change over periods lagged 1–10 years (p < 0.05).

Abstract:
Australian art history includes a peculiar short period during which the European avant-garde values were brought to Australia by a group of Slav artists who gathered in Adelaide in 1950. They were brothers Voitre (1919–1999) and Dušan Marek (1926–1993) from Bohemia, Władysław (1918–1999) and Ludwik Dutkiewicz (1921–2008) from Poland, and Stanislaus (Stanislav, Stan) Rapotec (1911–1997) from Yugoslavia, later joined by Joseph Stanislaus Ostoja-Kotkowski (1922–1994) from Poland. Each of these artists went on to leave their individual mark on the overall Australian art practice. This brief moment of the artists’ working and exhibiting together also enriched their later individual work with the very idea of a common Slav cultural memory.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to analyse the development of the education of the members of the economic service of the Army of the Czech Republic from 1919 to the present. The beginnings of the education of economic service specialists are connected with the establishment of Czechoslovakia and the Czechoslovak Army in 1919 and the operation of the French mission in Czechoslovakia. The development was interrupted by the Germanoccupation. In 1953, the military schools were reformed. A major reorganisation of the system, including the education of the economic service, was reformed in 1970. With partial changes, the new system functioned until the division of Czechoslovakia in 1993. In 2004, a change was made to the military education system in connection with the reduction of the number of professional soldiers, the end of military basic service and the professionalization of the ACR. The article introduces the reader to the development of education, the establishment and dissolution of military schools, the conditions and length of study, the subjects studied and the changes that have taken place during the defined years. This is the first comprehensive material dealing with the history of education of specialists of the economic service of the Army of the Czech Republic.

W artykule dokonano analizy porządku prawnego II Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej (1918-1939) i ustalono, iż wszystkie trzy obowiązujące wówczas najwyższej rangi akty normatywne mówiące o sztandarach wojskowych – ustawa Sejmu Ustawodawczego RP z 1 VIII 1919 r., rozporządzenie Prezydenta RP z 13 XII 1927 r. i dekret Prezydenta RP z 24 XI 1937 r.

Abstract:
The paper evaluates the growth, structure, production, quality, leaf area index and dendrochronology of 100 years old Austrian pine (Pinus nigra ARNOLD) monoculture situated in the forest type group Fageto-Quercetum in the locality Horné Lefantovce (Nitrianska Streda Forest District, Topoľčianky Forest Enterprise). Codominant trees, trees with stem of high quality, with medium-sized crown, medium dense and straight crown are the most abundant in the stand. The tree number in the stand is 1,024 trees/ha, basal area 51.75 m2/ha, growing stock 571.56 m3/ha, aboveground biomass stock 348.76 t/ha and leaf area index 21.85 ha/ha. Dendrochronological analyses examined the response in individual sample trees and minimum annual ring width was found in 1920, 1922, 1925, 1929, 1933, 1938, 1944, 1946, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1954, 1963, 1968, 1976, 1982, 1990, 1993, 1998, 2001. Marked maximum values of annual ring width in the years 1919, 1923, 1926, 1930, 1936, 1937, 1941, 1948, 1951, 1955, 1959, 1966, 1972, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1997 were found as a positive productive feature. Beginning in the year 1993, dry Austrian pine trees occurred in the stand as a result of the fungal infection by Sphaeropsis sapinea (Fr.) Dyko et Sutton.

Abstract:
The data on taxonomy and distribution of stagnicoline snails[1] of the northern part of Western Siberia (Lower Ob’ drainage basin) are relatively scant. The most recent survey of this group in the region was presented by Dolgin (2001) in his unpublished thesis where three stagnicoline species are recorded: Lymnaea (Stagnicola) palustris (O.F. Müller, 1774), L. (S.) terebra (Westerlund, 1885), and L. (S.) zebrella (B. Dybowski, 1913). Earlier authors published some data on stagnicolines of the northern water bodies of Western Siberia (Westerlund 1887; Lindholm 1919; Khokhutkin 1966; Drozdov 1967; Dolgin & Johansen 1980; Dolgin & Novikova 1984), however, all those researchers, as well as Dolgin (2001), did not study the anatomical traits of the snails they had at their disposition and, thus, species identification was carried out solely on the basis of conchological characters. Meanwhile, conchological traits in stagnicoline snails are known to display a large extent of intra- and interspecific variation (Jackiewicz 1993), and therefore are not completely suitable for reliable species determination. In order to discriminate between numerous lymnaeid species, the study of shell characters should be accompanied by the examination of the structure of the reproductive organs. In some cases, it is utterly impossible to distinguish between certain stagnicoline species on the ground of conchological traits (Jackiewicz 1993).

Abstract:
The iconographical analysis of Four seasons (1993), by the contemporary artist Edwin Parker “Cy” Twombly (Cy Twombly, 1928 – 2011) must be understood considering the importance of one of the most famous impressionist painters: Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841 - 1919). La vague (1879) and Paysage bords de Seine (1879) are two oil on canvas where Renoir prints the feeling of captivating the ephemeral through the colour and the movement of light. Four seasons has its roots in American lyrical abstraction. The need of making a portrait of lightness, through a creation where image and text are together, represents the evolution of Renoir’s work in contemporary art. As an impressionist artist, Renoir describes beauty as the reflection of the harmony of the world, as such as a bridge between aesthetic and emotional education. With this proposal, Cy Twombly sublimates the idea of beauty in contemporary art.

Abstract:
AbstractKi Hadjar Dewantara laid the foundation of education in Indonesia through his thoughts related to the nature of children in 1913-1919. On the other hand Lev Vygotsky (1896-1934) stated a theory that children are able to learn with the help of competent people. Both theories illustrate that the implementation of education will provide freedom and happiness for children in learning to learn by understanding children naturally and as they are. Research that has been done using ethnographic design aims to dissect and trace Ki Hadjar Dewantara's thoughts and Vygotsky's theory in the implementation of inclusive education. Data collection is done through documentation studies, guided group discussions, and questionnaires. The results of the analysis of the position of Vygotsky's theory in the implementation of inclusive education in the concept of the Zone of Proximal Development are focused on how children construct knowledge according to their culture and ways. The ZPD concept which focuses on cognitive theory emerged around 1993 which in Indonesia itself had been developed by Ki Hadjar Dewantara in 1913-1919 the emphasis was on teaching according to the nature of the child. Ki Hadjar's philosophy is heavily influenced by Maria Montessori's thoughts which emphasize the value of children's independent activities and the importance of children's growth as individuals. In 1952 Ki Hadjar Dewantara created a "system among" approach that put forward “Freedom of the Soul”. The system that supports the child's natural nature in order to develop inner and outer life according to his own nature. Knowledge and intelligence are only tools, the fruit is the maturity of the soul that can realize life and livelihood in an orderly, holy, and useful for others. The concepts of “Freedom of the Soul” and ZPD, are aligned in the cognitive view and efforts of children in obtaining the concept of knowledge in the implementation of education in the classroom.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Hartmut Vollmer (1993) and Barbara Wright (2005) argue that women Expressionist poets have been largely neglected and forgotten. The article seeks to make a modest contribution towards remedying this scholarly lacuna by examining Hedwig Caspari’s poetry, while focusing on the relationship between Poet and God as reflected in her poetry. Caspari (1882–1922) was a German-Jewish poet who lived and worked in Berlin. During her lifetime, she published two books—a play entitled Salomos Abfall (1920) and a volume of poetry entitled Elohim (1919). Like her play, most of her poetry deals with biblical themes. Caspari’s multifaceted relationship with God informs her poetry from the earliest to the latest poems. This article wishes to expose Caspari’s unique fe/male voice, showing her stance as a “prophet,” “lover,” and “Psalmist”, and attempts to explain why as a modernist poet she decided to write spiritual poetry.

Abstract:
Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett) is a tephritid fruit fly native to the Indo-Malayan region. Its distribution, though, has extended to include Africa, temperate Asia, and a number of Pacific islands. It became established in Japan in 1919 in the Yaeyama Islands and spread north in the Southwestern Islands of Japan. It was subsequently eradicated from these islands by an eradication program that extended from 1972 to 1993. As part of an effort to develop a worldwide database on the status of fruits as hosts of melon fly, the infestation data gathered from host fruits collected in this eradication program, before the initiation of suppression activities, are summarized here. Bactrocera cucurbitae infestation was documented in 24 plant taxa of four plant families (Caricaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Moraceae, and Solanaceae), with the following four new hosts identified: Ficus erecta Thunb., F. pumila L. (Moraceae), Solanum erianthum D. Don (Solanaceae), and Zehneria liukiuensis Jeffrey ex Walker (Cucurbitaceae).

Abstract:

Abstract:
We sampled fish and measured environmental variables in the Sepetiba Bay, a tropical embayment at Southeastern Brazil. The aim was to assess environmental influences on distribution of four abundant species of Sciaenidae Micropogonias furnieri (Desmarest, 1823), Ctenosciaena gracilicirrhus (Metzelaar, 1919), Cynoscion leiarchus (Cuvier, 1830) and Menticirrhus americanus (Linnaeus, 1758) to test the habitat partition hypothesis. Samples were taken between June 1993 and July 1996, at three bay zones (outer, central and inner). Depth was the most important environmental variable to influence fish distribution, followed by transparency. M. furnieri showed significant negative correlation to depth, transparency and salinity, while C. gracilicirrhus showed the opposite situation. The highest densities of C. leiarchus occurred in the lowest temperature, while M. americanus did not showed preferences for any of the examined environmental variables. Spatial separation, mainly between M. furnieri and C. gracilicirrhus, seems to be the strategy developed to coexist in the Sepetiba Bay, with M. furnieri being more adapted to copy with harsh environmental conditions of the inner bay. The other three species, which use mostly the outer bay zone, seem to be restricted to more stable conditions, where influences from oceanic waters are more intense.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper covers the forming of the Serbian Medical Society sections in the period until 1950, as well as the amendments made to the Rules of the Serbian Medical Society in 1919 and 1928. Prior to World War I, the Section for Tuberculosis was formed (1907). In the interwar period, seven specialist sections and one class section (Section of District Doctors for Belgrade, Zemun and Pančevo, 1931) were formed. After World War II, led by the all-pervasive enthusiasm in society of that time and the need for renewing and rebuilding all life segments in socialist Yugoslavia, new sections and regional branches of the Serbian Medical Society were established. The Section for the History of Medicine and Pharmacy was founded as the 16th section of the Serbian Medical Society, in 1950, and, in 1980, its name was changed to - Section for the History of Medicine. The first meeting of the Section was held on March 29, 1950. Professor Vladimir Stanojević, PhD, Medical Corps General, was elected the first President of the Section. The first lecture, delivered by Professor Aleksandar Đ. Kostić (Jedan stogodišnji srpski leksikon), is also described briefly in this paper. During its 70 years of work, the Section has experienced periods of rise and fall in its activity; while there has been formal continuity in its work, activity has been irregular (the regularity of the meetings, the number of communications, etc.), which is why its history can be divided into four periods. The Section achieved its best results in the first (1950-1978) and in its fourth (2009-2020) period. The second period (1978-1993) was characterized by a decrease in activity, while the third (1993-2009) was a period of complete inactivity. The Section had a fruitful publishing activity during the first and the fourth period. It was voted the best section of the Serbian Medical society twice - in 2016 and 2017.

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
The sawfly genus Euura of the tenthredinid subfamily Nematinae, in which species level taxonomy has long been regarded as controversial, is particularly species rich in northern parts of the Holarctic. Among a majority of species with more or less free-living larvae, a sizeable minority belongs to a monophyletic lineage whose larvae complete their whole development in galls. We present illustrated keys to the adults and galls of 66 gall-inducing Euura species that occur, or might occur, in northern Europe. The distribution of these species is briefly reviewed, with an emphasis on the fauna of Sweden, where 55 species are now definitely recorded, two of them for the first time (E. bigallae, E. myrtilloidica). The species-level taxonomy of gall-inducing Euura remains partly problematic. Nominal species described on the basis of experimentally tested or assumed host plant specificity, but which cannot be recognised using morphological or genetic characters, are treated as conspecific with currently indistinguishable segregates ("host-plant races") associated with other Salix species. 20 new synonymies are proposed (valid names in parentheses): Eupontania acutifoliae baltica Vikberg & Zinovjev, 2006 and Pontania acutifoliae daphnoides Zinovjev, 1993 (Euura acutifoliae (Zinovjev, 1985)), Euura boreoalpina Kopelke, 2001 (Euura lanatae Malaise, 1921), Euura cinereae Kopelke, 1996 preoccupied and Euura lapponica Kopelke, 1996 preoccupied (Euura auritae Kopelke 2000), Euura gemmacinereae Kopelke, 2001 and E. nigritarsis Cameron, 1885 (Euura mucronata (Hartig, 1837)), Euura phylicifoliae Kopelke, 2001 (Euura myrsinifoliae Kopelke, 2001), Nematus westermanni Boheman, 1852 nomen oblitum (Euura scotaspis (Förster, 1854) nomen protectum), Nematus acerosus Hartig, 1840 (Euura saliciscinereae (Retzius, 1783)), Nematus alienatus Förster, 1854 and Phyllocolpa rolleri Liston, 2005 (Euura leucapsis (Tischbein, 1846)), Nematus angustus Hartig, 1837 (Euura atra (Jurine, 1807)), Nematus erythropygus Förster, 1854 (Euura leucosticta (Hartig, 1837)), Nematus impunctatus Herrich-Schäffer, 1840 (Euura amerinae (Linnaeus, 1758)), Pontania carinifrons Benson, 1940 and Phyllocolpa plicaglauca Kopelke, 2007 (Euura destricta (MacGillivray, 1923)), Pontania obscura Kopelke, 2005 (Euura bridgmanii (Cameron, 1883)), Pontania viminalis var. lugubris Enslin, 1918 and Eupontania collactanea rosmarinifoliae Vikberg & Zinovjev, 2006 (Euura collactanea (Förster, 1854)). Euura weiffenbachiella nom. nov. is proposed as a replacement name for Euura weiffenbachii Ermolenko, 1988; preoccupied in Euura by Pteronidea weiffenbachi Lindqvist, 1958 (Euura piliserra (Thomson, 1863)). Lectotypes are designated for the following 9 taxa: Euura insularis Kincaid, 1900, Euura lanatae Malaise, 1921, Euura lappo Malaise, 1921, Euura lappo var. hastatae Malaise, 1921, Nematus acerosus Hartig, 1840, Nematus leptocerus Förster, 1854, Nematus vallisnierii Hartig, 1837, Pontania megacephala Rohwer, 1908, and Pontania piliserra var. mascula Enslin, 1915. Because of secondary homonymy within Euura, the valid name of the Nearctic species E. arctica MacGillivray, 1919 is E. delicatula (MacGillivray, 1919). The Nearctic Euura megacephala is removed from synonymy with the Holarctic E. destricta and treated as a valid species. 34 species names are newly combined with Euura.
