Abstract:
Curtitoma nodulosa (Krause, 1885) comb. nov. Curtitoma nodulosa (Krause, 1885) comb. nov., a rare species that was found only in the bays of the Chukotka Peninsula. Firstly it was described as Bela violacea var. nodulosa Krause, 1885, secondly – as Lora inequita Dall, 1919. It differs from Curtitoma violacea (Mighels et Adams, 1842) by the presence of well-defined axial folds, nodes on the keels, and a dagger-like type of radular teeth. From other members of genus Curtitoma Bartsch, 1941 it differs by the presence of keels. The specimens of «Oenopota inequita Dall, 1919» from the Sea of Japan [Bogdanov, 1990] belong to another species of genus Obesotoma Bartsch, 1941. It is proposed to consider Curtitoma nodulosa as a valid name, and Lora inequita as its junior synonym. Key words: Curtitoma nodulosa (Krause, 1885), Mangeliidae, Bering Sea, synonymy, re-description.

Abstract:
The present work analyzes the complex relationship that was established during the interwar period between the American press and the legislative committees which investigated the propaganda activities of subversive movements and large private corporations during those years. The investigation is the result of the examination of journalistic sources and documentary evidence recently collected from various US federal and state archives. The main hypothesis is that the struggle against propaganda by both the press and the legislative committees became a new form of manipulation of public opinion, enabling politicians and reporters to exploit people’s aversion to the new persuasion techniques in order to satisfy their own personal interests and ideological purposes.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper explores the importance of the Greek port of Salonica (Thessaloniki) for Yugoslav foreign policy-makers during the interwar period. It suggests that, apart from economic interests, namely securing trade facilities in the port and transport facilities offered by the Ghevgheli-Salonica railway connecting the Yugo?slav territory with Salonica, there were security considerations which accounted for Belgrade?s special interest in this matter. These stemmed from two reasons - Serbia?s painful experience from the Great War on which occasion the cutting off of the route for Salonica had had dire consequences for the Serbian Army and the post-war strategic situation whereby Yugoslavia was nearly ringed by hostile and potentially hostile neighbours which was a constant reminder of the immediate past and made both political and military leadership envisage a potential renewed need to retreat to Salonica in a general conflict. The events prior to and during the Second World War seem to have vindicated such preoccupations of Yugoslav policy-makers. All the Great Powers involved in the conflict in the Balkans realised the significance attached to Salonica in Belgrade and tried to utilise it for their own ends. Throughout these turbulent events Prince Paul and his government did not demonstrate an inclination to exploit the situation in order to achieve territorial aggrandisement but rather reacted with restraint being vitally concerned that neither Italy nor Germany took possession of Salonica and thus encircled Yugoslavia completely leaving her at their mercy.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Currently with 85 named species, the family Platyrhacidae in America is still poorly studied, particularly regarding Barydesmus Cook, 1896, the most diversified among the American genera. The center of diversification of Barydesmus lies in the northern third of the Andes Mountains, a megadiverse region where surely more species of these large, conspicuous diplopods await description. Here we present a new species, Barydesmus nangaritza sp. nov., easily diagnosable by the shape of the paranota, unique among the American Platyrhacidae. We provide also an updated bibliographical, annotated checklist of the whole family in America, with the aim of encouraging further studies in the group. The checklist includes the following new combinations under the genus Barydesmus: Barydesmus acanthopleurus (Hoffman, 1960) comb. nov., B. acanthosternus (Brölemann, 1900) comb. nov., B. acompus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. aequinoctius (Attems, 1914) comb. nov., B. affinis (Brölemann, 1919) comb. nov., B. andinus (Cook, 1896) comb. nov., B. azulae (Kraus, 1956) comb. nov., B. balsapuertus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. bifasciatus (Silvestri, 1897) comb. nov., B. bombonus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. broelemanni (Attems, 1914) comb. nov., B. brunnior (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. celinus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. chuncho (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. clathratus (Gervais, 1847) comb. nov., B. comptus Cook, 1896 comb. nov., B. contayus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. dunalii (Gervais, 1847) comb. nov., B. exsul (Cook, 1896) comb. nov., B. festae (Silvestri, 1897) comb. nov., B. fuscatus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. helophorus (Attems, 1899) comb. nov., B. incus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. javarynus (Schubart, 1950) comb. nov., B. leucus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. loretus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. manserichus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. medius (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. obscurus (Kraus, 1955) comb. nov., B. orellanus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. pococki (Brölemann, 1911) comb. nov., B. retentus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. riparius (Carl, 1902) comb. nov., B. rufipes (Koch, 1847) comb. nov., B. scaber (Koch, 1847) comb. nov., B. socius (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. strenuus (Silvestri, 1897) comb. nov., B. tambonus (Chamberlin, 1952) comb. nov., B. tapichus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. trichotypus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov., B. utoquinius (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov. and B. zygethus (Chamberlin, 1941) comb. nov.

Abstract:
When evaluating Serbian music between the two world wars, we take as our starting point compositions that are valuable in their own right, whether their creators were oriented towards tradition and moderate stylistic trends, or were adherents of the latest tendencies in music. Only compositions that defined their creators' stylistic profiles are considered. We are aware that the value judgments pronounced by older generations of musicologists may differ from the attitude that their younger colleagues have towards the same works. We also understand that the attitude towards the past changes to a degree, so that certain compositions once well received fade over time, but the most powerful and original ones lose nothing of their impact. We draw attention to the Romantic foundations and the inspiration that renowned European composers found in folk music in order that we may confirm the existence of the same phenomena in the music life of Belgrade. We also observe how Serbian composers mastered novel tendencies and how these tendencies endured, noting that they generally trailed behind analogous phenomena in literature and the fine arts (as was generally the case in Serbian cultural history).
