Full textAndre hermant began his career in the middle of the thirties, the period when the modernists avant-garde architects competed with the strong tendencies of a return to academism and regionalism. Graduated from + l'ecole speciale d'architecture ;, hermant clearly displayed his interest for the modernism. Before the war, he devoted his time almost exclusively to creating stands for exhibitions but also contributed actively with essays and technical management to the review l'architecture d'aujourd'hui, thereby making this magazine a journal of the architectural avant-garde. During the war, hermant chose to take the unofficial management of a new journal, techniques et architecture, until 1945. Having thus got into conflict with the editorial staff of l'architecture d'aujourd'hui, hermant lost precious relations and practically gave up publishing. The reconstruction after the war gave him finally the opportunity to work as an architect : in le havre, he joined the staff of auguste perret, and after that in beauvais and in troyes. Very interested in designing collective housing, hermant showed that he was a follower of le corbusier, especially in his town planning projects. During the fifties, hermant sought to resuscitate the + union des artistes modernes ; by forming the association + formes utiles ;. However, he took part in agitated debates, witch made him at last give up his ideas about allowing everyone to have a good functional housing, both in good taste and not expensive. He then turned himself to the museums where his capacity to create exhibition-rooms in a new radical spirit, gave him numerous commissions until the seventies. Andre hermant was an architect and town planner who is inspired by perret and le corbusier, but whose works and thoughts went beyond the strict adaptation of the established schools in his endeavour to achieve a synthesis of modernism

Full textElhadj Mamadou Bâ, illiterate shepherd too the age of sixteen, breaks with the shepherd trade in favor of Koranic school where after four years of study, he memorized the entire Quran. Thirsty of knowledge, he went with a Moorish marabout with whom in four years of study, he obtained his master's degree in Quran and expatriated in Saudi Arabia for further studies that will complete six years later by a diploma, the highest in Islamic science. Scholar imbued with progressive ideas, he decided in 1940 to return to Africa to withdraw his people of ignorance. On the field, he met with major obstacles, since the colon and the magician marabout, feeling threatened by his reform, allied to bar his way, in vain.
In the first half of the twentieth century, with the changes that permeated the national and global context, brazilian culture has undergone an upgrade process led by personalities that defined national history. The consequences of World War II boosted the arrival to Brazil from foreign artists such as Ziembinski, which played an important role in the movement of aesthetic update that was announced since the 1920s. Ziembinski's path is usually confused with theater modern history itself since he was involved in major projects of the 1940s and 1950s. The purpose of this research is to analyze how was its legitimacy on the national scene, both by critics of Décio de Almeida Prado, another exponent of dramatic criticism and a renewing of their practice among us, as well as the testimony of his contemporaries

_______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This study presents a dialogue between works of Brazilian writers working in the seventies, during the post-64 military dictatorship, and previous books by writers whose works are located within the twentieth century. It seeks to expose the productive relationship, intrinsic to their aesthetic, formal and thematic achievement, that these novels establish amongst themselves and the broader significance of this relationship in terms of criticism and literary historiography. The writers addressed are Machado de Assis, Graciliano Ramos, Guimarães Rosa, Clarice Lispector, Antonio Callado, Osman Lins and João Ubaldo Ribeiro. The fundamental theoretical basis for the study of these relationships is based on the work of Erich Auerbach and Brazilian scholars such as Antonio Candido.

Full textThis research aims at understanding Objectivist poets and poetics, considered as the nexus from which to analyse the theoretical and formal questions that matter to English and American modernist poetry. As a groundbreaking movement taking place in the thirties, Objectivism first gathers American poets such as Louis Zukofsky, Charles Reznikoff, George Oppen, Carl Rakosi and Lorine Niedecker, as well as English poet Basil Bunting. We choose to add to these the name of William Carlos Williams, both their predecessor and a long-time companion. The meaning of this work lies in the Objectivists going back to the basis of a poetics, and hence the need for new tools required to understand their texts. We propose to help develop a thinking enabling the reader to enter this specific poetical field, by analysing the new definitions, the various manipulations and the interplay with tradition that the Objectivists have produced. Their innovations concern such essential notions such as the poetic voice and its relation to the speaking subject in the poem; rhythm and the graphic quality of the written text as inducing a possibly new prosody; and the logic of the sign within the frame of a transformed experience of language and speech, from the point of view of the reading of the text

Full textPierre Legendre adopts a structuralist point of view in his studies. Our project is to establish – with the help of different cultures – a position more dynamics to deconstruct three sorts of stereotypes : – First, the stereotype as an obstacle between me and the others (social dimension) ; – the stereotype as a hitch between me and the Other (spiritual dimension) ; – and, finally, stereotype as an obstacle between me and me. As we can see, this question is deeply ethical and concerns the roots of the psychoanalysis
