Abstract:
Opuntia Miller (1754: no pagination) is a genus critical from both taxonomic and nomenclattural points of views (see e.g., Pinkava 2002, Griffith & Porter 2009, Majure et al. 2012). Many of the taxa belonging to this genus were described bases on materials collected by Old World naturalists (e.g., Arechavaleta 1905, Spegazzini 1905, 1925, Pontes et al. 2017). This led to publications of names based on plants grown under greenhouses conditions. Moreover, these names, although nomenclaturally valid, were often poorly described and usually no type was designated (see e.g., Haworth 1812, Pfeiffer 1837, Salm-Dyck 1850).

This paper summarizes the distribution, provides a taxonomic bibliography from 1758 to 2002, and lists all available species, generic names, and synonymies of the family Rhinocricidae (Diplopoda: Spirobolida). At present, there are 528 nominal species and 23 subspecies of Rhinocricidae placed in 27 genera and 3 subgenera. One new combination is proposed: Rhinocricus obesus rubicundus is transferred to Anadenobolus [Anadenobolus obesus rubicundus (Brölemann, 1905)].

Before 1905 there were no immigration laws in the UK. The first system of appeals in immigration cases was introduced by the Immigration Appeals Act 1969. Since then it has been subject to numerous changes. A full right of appeal to an adjudicator in asylum cases was first created by the Asylum and Immigration Appeals Act 1993. Immigration law is governed by the Immigration Act 1971, with changes made by Immigration Acts in 1993, 1996, 1999, and most recently with the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002.

Objetos, mobiliários e fotografias, enquanto documentos, contam-nos histórias e nos permitem refletir sobre o que se passou, reverberando um tempo por vezes distante e respondendo a questionamentos a eles feitos. Partindo desse pressuposto, buscamos, neste estudo, analisar os processos educativos que se passaram na cidade de São Leopoldo/RS, no início do século XX, particularmente entre os anos de 1905 e 1940. Para isso, tomamos como documento os mobiliários escolares, especialmente no que tange a fotografias e objetos escolares em exposição salvaguardados no Museu Histórico Visconde São Leopoldo. Os objetos foram registrados por meio fotográfico, catalogados e analisados a partir de sua materialidade. A análise realizada tem como temática a cultura material da escola à luz dos estudos realizados por Antonio Viñao Frago (1995, 2006), Rosa Fátima de Souza (2007) e Hernández Díaz (2002). Entendemos que o conjunto de objetos aqui analisados apresenta uma cultura escolar de práticas locais, em consonância com uma cultura nacional e, até mesmo, internacional. Under this assumption, we seek, in this study, to analyze the educational processes that occurred in the city of São Leopoldo/RS, at the beginning of the 20th century, particularly between the years 1905 and 1940. In this regard, we consider as documents the school furnishings, especially concerning exposed photographs and school objects safeguarded in the Visconde de São Leopoldo Historical Museum. The objects were photographed, catalogued, and analyzed from their materiality. The conducted analysis approaches the material culture of schools considering the studies undertaken by Antonio Viñao Frago (1995, 2006), Rosa Fátima de Souza (2007), and Hernández Díaz (2002). We understand that the set of objects analyzed here presents a school culture of local practices, in accord with a national culture, and even with an international one. Abstract. Kinetic and mechanistic data relevant to the tropospheric degradation of aromatic volatile organic compounds (VOC) have been used to define a mechanism development protocol, which has been used to construct degradation schemes for 18 aromatic VOC as part of version 3 of the Master Chemical Mechanism (MCM v3). This is complementary to the treatment of 107 non-aromatic VOC, presented in a companion paper. The protocol is divided into a series of subsections describing initiation reactions, the degradation chemistry to first generation products via a number of competitive routes, and the further degradation of first and subsequent generation products. Emphasis is placed on describing where the treatment differs from that applied to the non-aromatic VOC. The protocol is based on work available in the open literature up to the beginning of 2001, and some other studies known by the authors which were under review at the time. Photochemical Ozone Creation Potentials (POCP) have been calculated for the 18 aromatic VOC in MCM v3 for idealised conditions appropriate to north-west Europe, using a photochemical trajectory model. The POCP values provide a measure of the relative ozone forming abilities of the VOC. These show distinct differences from POCP values calculated previously for the aromatics, using earlier versions of the MCM, and reasons for these differences are discussed.

Abstract. For the first time three different methods have been used to calculate the global merging rate during the same substorm growth phase. The ionospheric plasma drift was monitored by six of the Northern Hemisphere SuperDARN radars, allowing the convection pattern to be studied over 12 h of magnetic local time. The radars observed reconnection signatures on the dayside simultaneously with substorm signatures on the nightside. The three methods to calculate the global merging rate are: (i) the equatorward expansion of radar backscatter on the nightside, which provides an estimate of the rate of polar cap expansion, while upstream WIND measurements gave an estimate of the reconnection electric fields; (ii) the derivation of the dayside boundary normal plasma flow velocity and an estimate of the extent of the ionospheric merging gap, from radar observation of dayside reconnection; (iii) utilizing the map-potential technique to map the high-latitude plasma flow and cross polar cap potential (Ruohoniemi and Baker, 1998), allowing the global dayside merging rate to be calculated. The three methods support an extensive magnetopause X-line length of between 30 ± 12RE and 35 ± 15 RE (assuming a single X-line and constant merging rate). Such close agreement between the different methods of calculation are unexpected, especially as the length of the magnetopause X-line is not well known.Key words. This paper provides the first faunal checklist of Cicadidae (Insecta: Hemiptera) from Cambodia, comprising 25 species belonging to 16 genera. Two new species, Tanna kimtaewooi sp. nov. and Lemuriana cambodiana sp. nov., are described. Platypleura mira Distant, 1904, Chremistica moultoni Boulard, 2002, Cryptotympana recta (Walker, 1850), Pomponia subtilita Lee, 2009, Purana parvituberculata Kos & Gogala, 2000, Orientopsaltria padda (Distant, 1887), and Platylomia malickyi Beuk, 1998 are newly added to the cicada fauna of Cambodia. Megapomponia imperatoria (Westwood, 1842), which was erroneously recorded due to misidentification, is removed from the fauna. Information on geographic distributions is also provided. A key to the species of the genus Lemuriana Distant 1905 is provided.

These are my first Teacher – Georgy Frantsevich Debets (1905-1969), my second Teacher – Viktor Valerianovich Bunak (1891-1979), and two colleagues – Valery Pavlovich Alekseev (1929 -1991) and Alexander Alexandrovich Zubov (1934-2013). The present article is based on the following sources: the transcripts of two lectures read by G.F. Debets in 1954 at the department of anthropology of the Moscow State University for the 5th year students (see Gerasimova 2020), the article by V.V. This article charts the relationship between Princess Margaret (1930–2002) and the House of Dior. Her relatively early adoption of the New Look accelerated her rise to a major fashion icon. Choosing a Dior ball gown for her offi? cial twenty-first birthday photographs cemented her image as the archetypal princess. Unusually for a member of the British royal family, Princess Margaret visited the French fashion house in Paris in 1949, 1951 and 1959, ordering couture gowns on several occasions, and also attended Dior fashion shows at Blenheim Palace in 1952, 1954 and 1958. While the close association between the Princess and Christian Dior (1905–1957) was relatively short-lived, it was mutually beneficial and important to the public image of both royal patron and couturier. 1

The species described in this paper belongs to the subgenus Dartia Soar, 1917 in the genus Nilotonia Thor, 1905 of the family Anisitsiellidae Koenike, 1910, which increases the number of known water mite families in the Chinese fauna to eighteen.

The genus Desmoxya Hallmann, 1917, erected for south-east Australian Higginsia lunata Carter, 1885, was assigned to the synonymy of Higginsia Higgin, 1877 (Porifera: Halichondrida) by the latest revision of the taxonomy of the Porifera (Hooper & van Soest, 2002). The discovery of an undescribed species living in the bathyal reefs of the North Atlantic Rockall Bank with characters closely similar to H. lunata justifies the resurrection of Desmoxya. Accordingly the North Atlantic material is described as a new species in Desmoxya, viz. D. pelagiae sp. nov. The new species differs from its Australian congener in habit (smooth thin crusts vs massive with digitiform processes) and spicule sizes (smaller megascleres, twice-sized acanthoxeas and single vs two sizes of trichodragmas). A probable third member of this genus is Higginsia anfractuosa Hooper & Lévi, 1993, described from shallow-water reefs near New Caledonia. For reasons of priority the name of the family to which Higginsia and Desmoxya are assigned needs to be changed from Desmoxyidae Hallmann, 1917 to Heteroxyidae Dendy, 1905, as this senior synonym was overlooked when Heteroxya was assigned to the same family as Higginsia and Desmoxya in Hooper & van Soest, 2002.

Although Spies et al.’s (2002) thorough analysis of a small sample of the then available specimens of Chironomus calligraphus Goeldi,1905 suggested two distinctly different haplotypes in the mitochondrial COII gene, the corresponding morphological and cytological evidence kept the authors from concluding that there were two species involved. Further obstacles were unusual aspects of the molecular data and the occurrence of both these haplotypes in samples from the Brazilian type locality by Fittkau (1965) from which he had fixed a neotype. This neotype is slide mounted and can no longer yield molecular data. The present author’s analysis of additional material, including the available BARCODE sequences, has confirmed the existence of two forms, perhaps consistent with those found in the COII analysis, and with largely overlapping geographic distributions. One of these forms occurs in Hawaii where it is morphologically indistinguishable from C. hawaiiensis Grimshaw, 1901. It is recommended to apply this name, which takes nomenclatural precedence to the form found in Hawaii, and the name C. calligraphus to the form found to be more common in Fittkau’s type-locality samples.

Este estudo investigou alguns variáveis populacionais da espécie Micoureus demerarae (Thomas, 1905), que incluem: densidade, recrutamento e sobrevivência. Sendo que, os espécimes coletados foram obtidos em dois ecossistemas contíguos, manguezal e terra firme da denominada Fazenda das Salinas, a qual esta localizada próxima ao município de Bragança, no nordeste do Estado do Pará. Para tanto, foram abertas duas transecções em cada ambiente destinadas as coletas realizadas de novembro de 2002 a setembro de 2003. Os resultados definiram uma população aberta com distribuição uniforme para os indivíduos do manguezal e agregada para os da terra firme, além de evidente sazonalidade, com maior proporção de machos na terra firme. O período reprodutivo foi o parâmetro mais importante para a flutuação populacional no início da estação seca. Os impactos ambientais sobre os parâmetros da dinâmica populacional de M. demerarae parecem ser determinantes na manutenção dessas populações da Fazenda das Salinas.

This study presents the first record of Eocene birds from the western margin of southernmost South America. Three localities in Magallanes, southern Chile, have yielded a total of eleven bird remains, including Sphenisciformes (penguins) and one record tentatively assigned to cf. Ardeidae (egrets). Two different groups of penguins have been recognized from these localities. The first group is similar in size to the smallest taxa previously described from Seymour Island, Marambiornis Myrcha et al., 2002, Mesetaornis Myrcha et al., 2002, and Delphinornis Wiman, 1905. The second recognized group is similar in size to the biggest taxa from Seymour Island; based on the available remains, we recognize the genus Palaeeudyptes Huxley, 1859, one of the most widespread penguin genera in the Southern Hemisphere during the Eocene. The stratigraphic context of the localities indicates a certain level of correlation with the geological units described on Seymour Island. The newly studied materials cast more light on the paleobiogeography of the group, extending the known ranges to the South American continent. In addition to the newly discovered birds, the presence of several taxa of elasmobranchs previously recovered exclusively from Eocene beds in the Southern Hemisphere help to clarify the age of the studied localities, widely discussed during the last decades. This paper verifies the presence of extensive Eocene sedimentary successions with fossil vertebrates along the western margin of southern South America, contrary to the previous assumption that such a record is lacking in Chile.

Conularina triangulata (Raymond, 1905), the genotype of Conularina Sinclair, 1942, is a rare, early Late Ordovician conulariid (Cnidaria, Scyphozoa; Van Iten et al., 2006) having three sides or faces instead of four (Sinclair, 1942, fig. 9; Van Iten, 1992, text-fig. 3E). Originally described from the Valcour Formation (early Sandbian; Dix et al., 2013) on Valcour Island, New York (Sinclair, 1942), C. triangulata has since been found in laterally equivalent strata of the upper Laval Formation (‘Upper Chazy’; Sinclair, 1942) in Laval, Québec, Canada (Sinclair, 1942). From this same unit and area, Sinclair (1942) erected three new, four-sided species of Conularina (C. irrasa, C. raymondi, and C. undosa), and he erected a single four-sided species (C. narrawayi) from the Ottawa Formation (now the Sandbian–Katian Ottawa Group; Dix et al., 2013) at Tétreauville (now Gatineau), Québec. Subsequently, Jerre (1994) reported the occurrence of two species of Conularina in the Upper Ordovician of Sweden. Jerre (1994) also proposed that Eoconularia? forensis Sinclair, 1946 from the Upper Ordovician Citadelle Formation (‘Quebec City’ Formation; Sinclair, 1946) in Québec City, Québec (Promontoire de Québec thrust sheet, Appalachian Humber Zone, Allochtonous Domain; Castonguay et al., 2002) is a species of Conularina.

We identify the influence played by some mathematicians such as G. Mammana (1893-1980), L. Schwartz (1915-2002), A. Monteiro (1907-1980), A. Weil (1906-1998), J. Dieudonné (1906-1992), M. Stone (1903-1989), and A. A. Albert (1905-1972) in the professional training of L. Nachbin. We also address the serious difficulties he encountered in the Mathematics Department of FNFi when he was entered in the competition, opened in 1950, for the post of full Professor (Professor Catedrático) of Mathematics and Superior Analysis of FNFi. We emphasize in the paper, that the period from 1947 to the 1960s marks the most creative and productive phase in terms of scientific research in the academic life of L. Nachbin.

Abstract:
With the goal of knowing the vespid fauna of the region, weekly samplings were carried out in the Estação Ambiental de Peti, São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This reserve is inside the Espinhaço Range and is marked by an ecotone formation of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest in its domain. Two Malaise traps were used: one was set in an Atlantic Forest area and the other in Cerrado vegetation. The collecting lasted one year, from April 2002 to April 2003. A total of 553 vespids of 28 species distributed in 11 genera were collected, of which 18 were Polistinae and 10 Eumeninae. The most frequent species were Agelaia myrmecophila (Ducke, 1905), A. multipicta (Haliday, 1836), Polybia flavifrons Smith, 1857 and Mischocyttarus rotundicollis (Cameron, 1912). The abundance was highest in the wet period only for the Polistinae in Atlantic Forest and Eumeninae in Cerrado. Another 18 species were found to occur in the area but were not collected by Malaise traps. The study revealed two species recorded for the first time in the State of Minas Gerais: Pararhaphidoglossa confluenta (Fox, 1899) and Zethus dubius Smith, 1857.

Abstract:
O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar as espécies de ácaros predadores associados à cultura do morango e em plantas associadas, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Este estudo foi conduzido nos municípios de Bom Princípio, Capitão e Lajeado em plantações de morango da variedade Oso Grande em túnel baixo. As avaliações foram feitas mensalmente entre agosto de 2002 e março de 2004. Nas plantas de morango, as amostras foram constituídas de três folhas coletadas em cada uma das 15 plantas escolhidas ao acaso, totalizando 45 folhas/campo. Nas plantas associadas, o esforço de amostragem foi de uma hora para cada planta avaliada. Ácaros das famílias Ascidae, Parasitidae, Phytoseiidae, Cunaxidae, Erythraeidae, Stigmaeidae e Tydeidae foram observados associados com o ácaro rajado, Tetranychus urticae Koch, 1836, praga importante na região onde este estudo foi conduzido. Vinte espécies foram identificadas, 14 das quais pertencem à família Phytoseiidae. Phytoseiulus macropilis (Banks, 1905) e Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor, 1954) foram as espécies mais comuns. Nas plantas asssociadas, a maior diversidade foi observada em Richardia sp. (seis espécies), Agerantum conyzoides L.(quatro espécies) e Sonchus oleraceus L., Bidens pilosa L.e Rumex sp. (três espécies). Uma chave docotômica é apresentada para a identificação das espécies.

From August 2001 to July 2002 the home range and movements of seven Micoureus demerarae (Thomas, 1905) (three males and four females) were investigated using radio tracking in the União Biological Reserve, state of Rio de Janeiro, south-eastern Brazil. A total of 436 locations was obtained and home range estimated with fixed Kernel (95% of data points), and minimum convex polygon (MCP) methods, with 100 and 95% of data points. Male home ranges estimated by MCP (100%) ranged from 5.4-24.2 ha and females from 0.3-10.7 ha. Corresponding figures calculated with Kernel (95%) were 4-10.9 ha for males and 1.3-5.9 ha for females. Animals travelled on average 423 m/night, with males travelling significantly further (582.8 m/night) than females (335.1 m/night) (t test, t = 3.609, p = 0.001). We concluded that radio tracking produced much larger home ranges than those estimated with traditional live-trapping techniques, suggesting that the latter might underestimate ranging when the area covered with traps is relatively small (ca. 1 ha or less). Radio tracking also indicated that M. demerarae, although predominantly arboreal and weighting only ca. 130 g., has movements similar in magnitude to larger-sized terrestrial didelphimorph marsupials, such as Didelphis Linnaeus, 1758, Philander Linnaeus, 1758 and Metachirus (Desmarest, 1817).

The vehicle operating cost (VOC) calculation using basic cost from Directorate General Of Land Transportation 2002.The result of this research is with data’s from seven taxi companys, taxi’s occupancy is 33%. According Directorate General Of Land Transportation SK.1905/KP.801/DRJD/2010 that taxi’s occupancy in DIY is less than enough, of then it services in the city need improvements. One of way to improve is using some application on such as G-maps, Ruby on Rails that combine with Android software. Average net income from seven taxi’s company by calculation is ± 80.000.000,- it’s mean that taxi’s sector is affordable to do.

Abstract:
Micoureus demerarae (Thomas, 1905) is a medium-sized marsupial, around 130 g, with a nocturnal habit and insectivorous-omnivorous diet. From August 2001 to July 2002, seven individuals, three males and four females, were monitored with radio-telemetry in Reserva Biológica União, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, aiming to investigate and describe the sleeping sites used by this marsupial. Fifty eight sleeping sites were located, most of which (70,7%) in palm trees Astrocaryum aculeatissimum (Schott) Burret, and the remaining in other tree species (29,3%), a significant difference (chi2 test; p < 0.005). The preference for this palm tree was not different between sexes (chi2 test; p = 0.920). It was possible to locate the exact place where the animal was hiding in 31 sleeping sites (53.4% of total) in palm trees the animals were always in the junction point of petioles and tree trunks, at an average height of 4.66 ± 1.36 m, while in the remaining tree species, seven individuals were in liana tangles and two in tree holes, at an average height of 10.67 ± 2.75 m. This height difference was significant (Mann Whitney test; p < 0.001). Results indicate that palm trees are important resources for M. demerarae. The observed preference for A. aculeatissimum is probably due to higher protection against predators made by the numerous spines of this palm tree species.
