Abstract:
The article considers the problems of modern use of urban areas, which are mostly related with the lack of reasonable scientifically and economically rational land policy. The issues of rational urban land using and land management in settlements have been studied by many domestic scientists, but to achieve the goal of rational and efficient land using, there is a need to continue research on these issues, especially at the regional and local levels. In particular, this applies to the formation of the mechanism of payment for land in conditions where the collection of taxes on labor and entrepreneurship significantly exceeds the amount of payment for land and other natural resources. The article gives an example of effective transformation of reserve lands which are not provided for permanent use and rent, located in the peripheral zone of the city, in the land of solar energy. The issue is considered from the standpoint of the value of unused urban land in their ability to generate additional income. Calculations to determine the efficiency of land transformation in the land of solar energy were made on the example of the commissioned solar power plant LLC «NOVE TEPLO", which is in the northern industrial hub of Kremenchuk, Poltava region, which covers an area of 150.00 hectares, and the total capacity of installed solar panels 75 MW. The total income of land transformation from reserve lands to solar energy lands for 10 years and rent income from 150 hectares of land for the specified period for reserve lands in Kremenchuk according to the values of capitalized rent income standards are determined. The total income after the transformation of land was almost 300 times higher than the total income received before the transformation. Rating of ground-based SES was created by using the PV GIS web application. This tool allows you to estimate the average monthly and annual energy production from a solar electrical system connected to the grid. PV GIS calculates the optimal slope and slope exposure, which maximizes annual energy production.

Abstract:
Creative people, entrepreneurs and start-up founders using innovation spaces and hubs often find themselves inside a filter bubble or echo chamber, where like-minded people tend to come up with similar ideas and recommend similar approaches to innovation. This trend towards homophily and a polarisation of like-mindedness is aggravated by algorithmic filtering and recommender systems embedded in current technology and social media platforms. Yet, genuine innovation thrives on social inclusion fostering a diversity of ideas. To provide the opportunity to escape these echo chambers, Skunkworks Finder was designed and tested – an exploratory tool that employs social network analysis to help users discover spaces of difference and otherness in their local urban innovation ecosystem. A design inclusive research approach was adapted focusing on user-centred design choices in order to verify and validate the prototype and its according premise. Results show, that an introduction of Skunkworks Finder or similar functionality is anticipated by study participants, as participants indicated individual experiences of forming filter bubbles in innovation spaces. However, changes in design would improve comprehensibility issues addressed during the user study. Additionally, an integration of such a system into an established online tool would ensure a distribution to a wider audience, than focusing only on potential users who are already affiliated with an innovation environment.

Abstract:
There has been increasing interest in open innovation in academic research as well as industry application since the concept was introduced in 2003. The concept got much attention because of its economic benefits and novel means for facilitating innovation. This thesis aims to adapt the concept of open innovation to the university environment, in order to foster innovation in the development process for intellectual property (IP) derived from academic research activities. It contributes to the literature on open innovation adapted to the university context, i.e. open collaboration on the development of intellectual property towards a commercial ready stage. In order to investigate the potential of open innovation in the university environment, a focus group was conducted. In addition, the business process of Quirky Inc. was analysed as an example to better understand how open innovation works in the business context. The results of the study’s data analyses inform new opportunities for interventions in universities towards fostering different approaches to IP development as research outcomes. Further, it reveals interventions that can promote open innovation approaches in the university’s context more generally.

Abstract:
This section explores the flow of resources and the economic development of the international shipping industry through analysis of three separate components. The first sub-section provides a thorough history of Danish maritime resources and infrastructures in relation to both shipping and fishing in the Danish coastal zone between 1500 and 2000, charting in particular the activity and economy of coastal dwelling communities. The second sub-section explores the resources and infrastructures in the maritime economy of rural south-west Scotland between 1750 and 1850, with particular emphasis on local economic revival and expansion efforts. It determines that entrepreneurship and expertise were vital to the success of a port, and intrinsically linked to local needs and culture. The final sub-section explores the fishing industry in relation to fishing rights in the postwar period. It uses the North Sea herring industry as a case study to demonstrate that post-war fishing developments centred on political exclusions and a shift from international to national fishing boundaries.

Abstract:
In the last 25 years, the research conducted in universities, hospitals, and research institutions has resulted in the creation of over 4500 new companies based on the licenses obtained from these institutions. In the same period, there has been a 1500 percent increase in the number of patents granted to universities. These achievements have been primarily at research universities and research institutions, and have not been enjoyed by the overwhelming majority of educational institutions that are not research-intensive. This paper examines technology commercialization activities at non-research-intensive universities and recommends means by which they can generate more intellectual property in a cost-effective manner. These universities can increase financial opportunities for themselves and their communities and can be more effective in job creation and local economic development by adopting policies that are different from those of their research-intensive counterparts. They can use their resources more creatively to promote creation of intellectual property, faculty entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary cooperation among faculty
