Abstract:
A model predictive control (MPC) is used to optimize the control performance on CO2 removal in Subang Field. MPC is implemented to control the feed gas pressure (PIC-1101), amine flow rate (FIC-1102), and makeup water flowrate (FIC-1103) to maintain CO2 concentration in sweet gas. MPC is built using the first-order plus dead time (FOPDT) models. The control performance tests are used set point (SP) tracking and disturbance rejection with the performance indicator is the integral of square error (ISE). The result show that the optimum setting of prediction horizon (P), horizon (M) and Time Sampling (T) in MPC are 9 1, 32 and 1 on PIC-1101; 34, 10 and 5 on FIC-1102 and 40, 10 and 5 on FIC-1103. Based on ISE values, the use of MPC can improve performance for set point tracking by 14.02% in PIC-1101, 76.74% in FIC-1102, and 16.31% in FIC-1103, the use of MPC can improve performance for disturbance rejection by 19.32% in FIC-1102, and 91.57% in FIC-1103, compared with the proportional-integral (PI) controller that used in the field.

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Aims</strong>:Atrial of cv. Malbec grafted to six different rootstocks (Harmony, SO4, 1103 P, 140 Ru, 3309 C and Cereza) and own rooted cv. Malbec (ORMa) was carried out with the aim to study the influence of rootstock on the vegetative and reproductive performance of cv. Malbec. Another objective was to study the relationship between below ground (i.e., rootstock) and above ground (i.e., scion) growth under irrigated conditions, typical of Argentine viticulture.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Methods and results</strong>: Four groups of rootstocks could be distinguished according to their vegetative and reproductive performance. The first group (Cereza and 3309 C, as ORMa) showed intermediate yield and high vegetative expression (VE). The second group (SO4 and 1103 P) was characterized by high yield and intermediate VE. The third group (140 Ru) displayed intermediate yield and low VE. Finally, the fourth group (Harmony) showed low yield and low VE. 140 Ru showed the highest number of roots, while 1103 P, SO4 and Harmony showed the lowest number. Harmony showed a greater skin to berry ratio than 1103 P and a lower berry weight (1.56 g) than the rest of the treatments (1.7 g on average).</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Conclusion</strong>: Rootstocks influenced the biomass partitioning between leaves, grapes and roots: 140 Ru promoted root and reproductive development; Cereza, 3309 C and ORMa promoted vegetative development; SO4 and 1103 P promoted grape yield; and Harmony promoted root development.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Significance and impact of the study</strong>: The absence of a general behavior pattern highlights the need to accurately assess the performance of each rootstock for each zone and each <em>Vitis</em> variety, in order to choose the most appropriate scion-rootstock combination.</p>

Abstract ZnC6(NO2)2O4 · 2 H2O was grown in aqueous silicagel. It crystallizes monoclinically (space group I2/c). Zn2+ has CN 6 . It is surrounded in a distorted octahedral fashion by 2 water molecules in cis -position and 4 oxygen atoms of the bis-chelating [C6(NO2)2O4]2- ions. Thereby infinite corrugated chains are formed consisting of Zn2+ and the nitranilate dianions. These chains are interlinked by hydrogen bonds between H2O and the NO2 groups. The NO2 groups are twisted against the ring plane. The bond lengths in the dianion are typical of completely delocalized π-electrons.

Abstract:
Background and Aim. The genetically determined characteristics of grapevine rootstocks are important factors that affect scion performance. This 3 years’ field study aimed to characterize the influence of four well-established 30-year-old rootstocks (110 Richter, 1103 Paulsen, 41B, and 161-49Couderc) on the Tempranillo cultivar in the semiarid wine growing region of D.O.Ca. Rioja, North-Eastern Spain. Methods and Results. Nutrient concentrations of mineral elements at flowering and veraison were determined in the vines, jointly with grapevine-water status, gas exchange, vine vigour, and chlorophyll content. Moreover, grapevine yield and grape quality were determined at harvest. The least vigorous rootstocks (41B, 161-49C) conferred drought adaptability traits by increasing water use efficiency (WUE) and decreasing whole-plant water conductance per unit leaf area (Kplant) compared to the more vigorous rootstocks (1103-P, 110-R). In contrast, the more vigorous rootstocks increased water transport capacity, which led to higher plant performance and nutrient uptake efficiency. At flowering, 1103-P and to a lesser extent, 110-R were most efficient at taking up nutrients, while 161-49C had the lowest concentrations for most nutrients. At veraison, 41B exhibited closer behaviour to 110-R than 161-49C, while 1103-P and 161-49C remained the most differentiated rootstocks, with higher and lower nutrient uptake, respectively. In addition, compared to the more vigorous rootstocks, the yield was up to 1.6 kg lower for the less vigorous rootstocks but the grape composition was improved. Notably, 161-49C led to higher total soluble solids, total acidity, and polyphenol content. Conclusions. Overall, grafting onto specific rootstocks represents a strategy to confer differential regulation of grapevine water-saving strategies, yield, berry quality, and nutrient uptake potential. Significance of the Study. This information may be useful for growers seeking to develop a site-specific selection of rootstocks for the grafted Tempranillo cv.

Abstract:
AbstractIn the current research water-soluble functional polymers (WSFP) were prepared via radical polymerization and purified by fractionation through ultrafiltration membranes with different molecular weights cut off (MWCO) of 30 and 100 kDa. The WSFPs were poly(3-acrylamide propyl) trimethyl ammonium chloride, P(ClAPTA), poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sodium sulfonate, P(AMPSNa), and poly(3-methacrylamino propyl) dimethyl 3-sulfopropyl ammonium hydroxide, P(HMPDSPA). These polymers were characterized by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and thermogravimetry analysis (TGA). Using liquid-phase polymer-based retention technique (LPR), chromium [Cr(III) and Cr(VI)] retention was studied as a function of pH, polymer and chromium concentration, selectivity, maximum retention capacity, chromium elution capacity, and polymer regeneration through sorption and desorption studies. Results of FT-IR showed the characteristic absorption bands of the synthesized polymers. The decomposition temperatures of P(ClAPTA) were at 303.1 °C, and for P(AMPSNa) three decompositions temperatures were registered at 190.5 °C, 223.2 °C, and 304.8 °C. P(HMPDSPA) presented two important decomposition temperatures at 292.4 °C and 391.7 °C, respectively. Concerning to the retention of Cr(VI), it was maximal (100 %) when P(ClAPTA) was studied at pH 6. The maximum retention of Cr(III) (100 %) was achieved by P(AMPSNa) at pH 3. The optimum polymer:Cr mole ratio obtained was 10:1 for both Cr(VI) and Cr(III). The retention of Cr(VI) decreased due to the presence of interfering ions, and the hydrodynamic flow was almost constant during the ultrafiltration of polymer-Cr macromolecule.

Abstract:
AbstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a 4-week off-season period (transition period) on the anthropometric and performance parameters in elite female soccer players who participated in the UEFA women’s Champions league. Eighteen female players (age 23.6±4.3 years) underwent testing at the end of the competitive period and right after the transition period. An incremental cardiopulmonary testing, body composition assessment and isokinetic testing at 60 °/sec were performed on both occasions. The cardiopulmonary exercise testing revealed that VO2max (p=0.001) and time on the treadmill (p=0.000) were significantly reduced after the transition period that included a 2 times/week exercise regimen. Furthermore, the quadriceps torque production at 60 °/s was significantly reduced for both the right (p=0.013) and left quadriceps (p=0.004) following the transition period. Finally, body weight (p=0.001) and body fat (p=0.000) significantly increased after 4 weeks of significantly reduced training volume. It is concluded that the transition period negatively affected the anthropometric and performance parameters of the female players. These data maybe informative for coaches and trainers as they demonstrate that despite the efforts to keep the players physically active the performance parameters decreased significantly.

Abstract:
1103 Background: Three weekly paclitaxel and gemcitabine (PG) combination is recognised as an efficient treatment of metastatic breast cancer. Weekly paclitaxel has shown improved results comparatively with the three weekly administration. We conducted a study to evaluate a weekly schedule of PG combination in fist line treatment of metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Patients and methods: Patients with MBC were enrolled in this study to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of P 80mg/m2 D1, 8, 15 and G 1,250 mg/m2 D1, 8 (at fixed dose rate of 10mg/m2 /min) and cycles were repeated every 21 days. This phase II trial had a 2 stages design. Overall response rate was the primary end point. Results: In the first step of the trial 19 pts were enrolled with a median age of 59.5 (range 40 - 74). Baseline ECOG < 2 in 89% of pts. Main metastatic sites were: bone (36 %), lung (36%), liver (36%) and lymph nodes (32%). 52 % of pts had only one metastatic site. Previous treatments included surgery (89%), radiotherapy (73%), anthracycline based chemotherapy (74%) and adjuvant hormontherapy (52%). 18 pts were evaluable for efficacy and toxicity. 6 achieved PR, 5 SD and 6 PD resulting in an ORR of 33%. All patients were evaluable for toxicity. Main grade 3–4 toxicities per patient were neutropenia (67%), febrile neutropenia (5%), anemia (17%), thrombocytopenia (33%), trasnsaminases leveations (11%) and dyspnia (5%). Chemotherapy was delayed frequently for toxicity reasons (delays or arrest for toxicity in 15 pts). Conclusion: This weekly PG regimen has some activity in MBC. Although life-threatening toxicities were uncommon, delays in haematological recovery are frequent, making the investigated schedule unsuitable for further studies. [Table: see text]

Abstract:
Abstract Aim Aim of the study was to establish parameters for 99mTc-MAG3 SPECT renal uptake kinetics in healthy SCID mice as a function of mouse strain and sex and to evaluate the feasibility of this method for detecting 177Lu-somatostatin receptor ligand (177Lu-SRL) treatment effects on kidney function. Materials and Methods Dynamic semi-stationary SPECT acquisitions (68 frames, total duration 35 min) was started prior to i. v. injection of 99mTc-MAG3 in 12 female and 12 male SCID mice. Additionally, 6 female SCID mice with neuroendocrine tumors were imaged 1–5 months after 177Lu-SRL (5 DOTATOC, 1 DOTA-JR11) treatment. Kidney function is expressed as maximum time to peak (Tmax), T50 and T25 in minutes (median [interquartile range]). Differences between groups were tested using the Mann-Whitney-U test, and SCID mouse parameters were compared with data for C57BL/6N mice from a recent publication. Results Significant sex-based differences in Tmax between strains were observed (females: C57BL/6N 1.6 [1.4–1.7], SCID 1.4 [1.3–1.5], p = 0.05; males: C57BL/6N 1.4 [1.3–1.4], SCID 1.6 [1.4–1.7], p = 0.04). In C57BL/6N mice, females showed a later Tmax (p < 0.01) than males. SCID mice showed no difference (p = 0.14). Treated SCID mice showed no significant delay in Tmax (2.0 [1.4–2.7], p = 0.15) but a significant delay in T50 (p = 0.02) and T25 (p = 0.01) compared to healthy untreated mice. Conclusion This study demonstrated significant sex-related differences between SCID and C57BL/6N mouse strains in kidney function. Establishment of normal values for different strains and sexes therefore is important for experimental therapy studies. Renal SPECT imaging with 99mTc-MAG3 was sufficiently sensitive to detect 177Lu-SRL treatment toxic effects on kidney function in SCID mice.

Abstract:
We conducted a retrospective study to determine the incidence and treatment outcomes of neck metastases in patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the hard palate and/or maxillary alveolus after surgical excision of the primary tumor. We also sought to identify any risk factors for recurrence. Our study population was made up of 20 patients—9 men and 11 women, aged 46 to 88 years (mean: 72.6)—who had undergone excision of an SCC of the hard palate and/or maxillary alveolus at a tertiary care cancer center over a 7-year period. Half of all patients were former tobacco users. Of the 20 tumors, 10 involved the maxillary alveolus, 4 involved the hard palate, and 6 involved both sites. Three patients were clinically categorized as T1, 9 as T2, 6 as T3, and 2 as T4; pathologically, 8 tumors were categorized as T4a. In addition to maxillectomy, a neck dissection was performed in 7 patients—4 therapeutically and 3 electively. Eight of 20 patients experienced a recurrence: 4 local, 6 regional, and 2 distant (several patients had a recurrence at more than one site). Univariate analysis identified perineural invasion (p = 0.04) as a statistically significant risk factor for recurrence. Of 14 patients with a clinicopathologically negative neck, 5 (36%) developed a cervical recurrence, and 4 of them died of their disease. An advanced stage (T4 vs. <T4) was not significantly correlated with the risk of regional metastasis (p = 0.58). The rate of occult nodal metastasis in clinically and radiologically N0 necks was high. Clinical and radiologic understaging was common, and regional recurrences frequently resulted in death. We conclude that elective nodal evaluation and treatment of the neck warrants strong consideration for most patients with cancer of the hard palate and/or maxillary alveolus.

Abstract:
ObjectiveBecause the aromatase enzyme catalyzes the conversion of testosterone to estradiol (E2), the activity of this enzyme could be important in the musculoskeletal health of men with low testosterone. The objective of the present study is to determine the influence of aromatase activity on the bone mineral density (BMD) and body composition of patients with hypogonadism.DesignCross-sectional study.MethodsThe baseline data of 90 patients between 40 and 74 years old who participated in a genetic study of response to testosterone therapy in men with low testosterone (i.e., <300 ng/dl) were analyzed. BMD and body composition were measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Serum testosterone was measured by automated immunoassay, E2was measured by ultrasensitive enzyme immunoassay, and sex hormone-binding globulin was measured by enzyme immunoassay.ResultsMen in the highest tertile of E2to testosterone ratio (E2:T) had the highest spine BMD (P≤0.037), highest truncal fat (P=0.046), and lowest truncal lean body mass (P=0.045). A similar pattern was observed in the upper extremities; that is, fat mass significantly increased (P=0.047), whereas lean mass significantly decreased (P=0.034) with increasing E2:T tertiles.ConclusionThe present findings suggest that in men with hypogonadism, aromatase activity could be an important determinant of musculoskeletal health. Men with high aromatase activity are able to maintain a higher BMD despite low circulating testosterone, but they have lower lean and higher truncal fat mass as compared to those with lower aromatase activity.

In Turkey, the leaves of Sultani Çekirdeksiz and Narince varieties are extremely evaluated for edible purposes. In this study, it was aimed to determine leaf yield and characteristics of vine saplings in nursery parcel. The leaves of Narince (Narince own-roted grafted on 1103 P) and Sultani Çekirdeksiz (grafted on 1103 P) seedlings were the material of the experiment. Cuttings were planted in a single row (16.666 cuttings/da) with 1 m × 6 cm spacing to the nursery parcel. Edible leaves were collected from saplings in two harvest periods. Leaf yield, leaf width, leaf length, leaf area and leaf weight in fresh vine leaves were determined. Depending on the sapling type (own-rooted or grafted), 102.5-186.0 kg/da edible leaves were collected from two harvests. In general, saplings leaves were found to be smaller in size and delicate than matura vine. It is recommended that the leaves of saplings should be evaluated by vine sapling companies having permanent workers.

Abstract:
Different rootstocks were characterized for their various morphological, physiological and biochemical parameters. Significant differences were observed for most of the parameter studied. Rootstocks such as 110-R, 99-R, Dogridge and 1103-P had significant higher contents of carbohydrates, starch, phenols, proteins and reducing sugar. Rootstocks Dogridge, 110-R and Salt Creek also recorded highest rate of photosynthesis and transpiration rate at singe leaf level, which is an important mechanism in overcoming drought tolerance. Phenolic content in the rootstocks such as Dogridge, 110-Rand V. longii, may help in reducing the incidence of major grape diseases in profitable table varieties, if grafted onto these rootstocks. Thus, the physio-biochemical characterization of rootstock may help to identify particular rootstocks that could influence a desired trait in commercial table or wine grape varieties after grafting. In the present investigation, the rootstocks such as 110-R, 99-R 1103-P and Dogridge recorded the highest value for total carbohydrates, phenols, proteins, reducing sugar and gas exchange parameters which may help these rootstocks in overcoming the incidence of important disease and drought tolerance and lead to a better rooting percentage.

Abstract:
1103 Background: Epacadostat is an oral, potent, and selective inhibitor of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1, a tryptophan-catabolizing enzyme that induces immune tolerance via T-cell suppression and is associated with poor patient (pt) survival when overexpressed in some cancers. The ongoing, open-label, phase 1/2 (P1/2) ECHO-202/KEYNOTE-037 study is evaluating the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of epacadostat plus PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab (E + P) in pts with advanced/recurrent cancers. We report P1/2 study outcomes for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) pts and P2 outcomes for ovarian cancer (OVC; no P1) pts as of a 29OCT2016 data cutoff. Methods: Eligible pts were ≥18 years old with no prior checkpoint inhibitor treatment (tx); prior platinum/taxane tx was required for OVC pts. As part of P1 dose escalation, TNBC pts received E (300 mg BID) + P (200 mg Q3W). In P2, TNBC and OVC pts received E (100 mg BID) + P (200 mg Q3W). Response (RECIST v1.1) was assessed in evaluable pts. Safety and tolerability were assessed in pts with ≥1 dose of E + P. Results: A total of 39 pts with TNBC and 37 with OVC were enrolled. The majority of TNBC pts (56%, n = 22) and OVC pts (78%, n = 29) received ≥3 prior lines of tx. For TNBC pts, ORR (CR+PR) was 10% (n = 4; all PR) and DCR (CR+PR+SD) was 36% (n = 14; 10 SD); ORR and DCR for pts with ≤2 prior tx were 12% (n = 2) and 29% (n = 5), respectively, and for ≥3 prior tx were 9% (n = 2) and 41% (n = 9). For OVC pts, ORR was 8% (n = 3; all PR) and DCR was 35% (n = 13; 10 SD); ORR and DCR for pts with ≤2 prior tx were 13% (n = 1) and 25% (n = 2), and for ≥3 prior tx were 7% (n = 2) and 38% (n = 11). The most common TRAEs (≥15% of pts) were rash (18%), fatigue (15%), and nausea (15%) in the 39 TNBC pts, and fatigue (19%) in the 37 OVC pts. Grade ≥3 TRAEs occurred in 13% of TNBC pts (n = 5; none in > 1 pt) and 19% of OVC pts (n = 7; only rash occurred in > 1 pt [n = 3]). TRAEs led to discontinuation in 1 TNBC pt (grade 3 ascites) and 1 OVC pt (grade 2 arthralgia). Conclusions: E + P tx was generally well tolerated and showed antitumor activity consistent with previously reported P monotherapy in pts with advanced TNBC or OVC. Biomarker analysis is ongoing to characterize pt populations enrolled in this study. Clinical trial information: NCT02178722.

Abstract:
AbstractThe purpose of this study was to establish the relationships between 50 m sprint swimming performance and variables acquired from a swimming load-velocity profile established by semi-tethered butterfly swimming. Twelve male elite swimmers participated in the present study and performed 50 m sprint and semi-tethered butterfly swimming with different loads. The mean velocity among all upper-limb cycles was obtained from the 50 m swimming (race velocity), and maximum load and velocity were predicted from the load-velocity profile established by the semi-tethered swimming test. There was a very large correlation (r=0.885, p<0.01) and a high intra-class correlation (0.844, p<0.001) between the race velocity and the predicted maximum velocity. Significant correlations were also observed between the predicted maximum load and the 50 m time as well as the race velocity (r=− 0.624 and 0.556, respectively, both p<0.05), which imply that an ability to achieve a large tethered swimming force is associated with 50 m butterfly performance. These results indicate that the load-velocity profile is a useful tool for predicting and assessing sprint butterfly swimming performance.

Abstract:
Ocular and ophthalmologic adverse effects may occur in patients with β-thalassemia major (BTM) treated regularly with blood transfusions and iron-chelating agents. We hypothesized that olfactory dysfunction may be present in this patient population. We aimed to investigate olfactory dysfunction in patients with BTM and to determine etiologic factors. A total of 43 patients with BTM were included in the study. Forty-three subjects without nasal complaints, history of facial trauma, or nasal surgery were included as the controls. All participants had nasal endoscopy. The use of iron-chelating agents by patients with BTM and their duration of use were recorded, as well as hemoglobin and ferritin levels. The Sniffin Sticks test (SST) was used to assess olfactory function, comparing results between the BTM and control groups. The correlations of SST scores with the other study parameters were analyzed. Eight (18.6%) of 43 patients in the BTM group and none of the subjects in the control group had hyposmia (p < 0.001). Older age, low hemoglobin level, and longer use of deferoxamine were found to be correlated with olfactory dysfunction. Olfactory dysfunction can occur in patients with BTM treated with iron-chelating agents. The results suggest that screening for olfactory function should be part of the routine follow-up of patients with BTM.

Abstract Polygonal systems P consist of exclusively hexagons and pentagons. They correspond (as chemical graphs) to a certain class of polycyclic conjugated hydrocarbons. This class includes protofullerenes. General formulations for the maximum numbers of internal vertices for P systems with p<6 are derived; here p is the number of pentagons. The CnHs chemical formulas of P systems are studied with special emphasis on the semibuckminsterfullerene (C30H12) , circum-semibuckminsterfullerene (C58H16) and corannulene (C20H10) isomers. Numbers of all CnHs isomers for P systems with r< 6 are computed; here r is the total number of polygons.

This study evaluated the immobilization and nutrient uptake in an experimental organic vineyard of ‘Early Isabella’ grapevines in the Midwestern region of Parana State, Brazil. The experimental design was implemented in randomized blocks with two different rootstocks ‘Paulsen 1103’ and ‘VR 043-43’ along with four replications and three plants per plot. Five years after planting, one plant per plot was completely removed from the soil and then subdivided into root, stem and canes. The remaining plants in the area were managed until harvest. The sectioned parts and clusters were dried in a forced air oven at 65°C. The dry mass was subsequently determined and mineral analyses were performed. The amounts of nutrient uptake immobilized by ‘Early Isabella’ grapevines with yields between 9.9 and 16.6 t ha-1 were 64.9, 19.0, 156.9, 45.8 and 12.7 kg ha –1 for N, P, K, Ca, Mg, respectively, when grafted on Paulsen ‘1103’ and 112.8, 29.3, 260.8, 82.3 and 26.0 kg ha-1, respectively, when grafted on ‘VR 043-43’.

Abstract:
Abstract Background Community acquired respiratory virus infections (RVI) are a major concern in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients due to severe complications such as lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI), superimposed fungal and bacterial pneumonia, intensive care admission and mortality. Besides influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), there is paucity of data of RVI in SOT recipients. Table 1: Patients characteristics Table 2: Concomitant infections Methods Retrospective cohort study of a single large transplant center was performed. Data of multiplex qualitative PCR-based respiratory viral panel (RVP) samples collected between January 2017 and December 2019 were included. It is important to mention that our institution generally performs the RSV/influenza rapid detection assay as an initial test; if negative, the multiplex PCR panel is usually done. We did not include results from the RSV/influenza rapid test in this study. Results One hundred transplant patients with a single positive RVP were included (table 1). Transplanted organs include kidney (40%), followed by lung (33%) and liver (9%). Most common presenting symptoms were cough (52%), shortness of breath (28%) and rhinorrhea (26%). Of note fever was seen in only 24%. Most common RVI was Rhinovirus/Enterovirus (RHV/ENT) (59%), followed by non-SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus (19%) and Parainfluenza (PIV) (14%). None of the patients had neutropenia, however, 52% had lymphocytopenia. Lung transplant patients developed LRTI in 70% of cases compared to non-lung transplant 64% (p=0.412). Multivariate analysis showed patients with PIV 3 were less likely to develop LRTI (p= 0.038). Significant Cytomegalovirus DNAemia (&gt;137 IU/mL) was noted in 9.8% of the recipients. No proven or probable pulmonary fungal infection were noted within 3 months after diagnosis of RVI. Five patients were admitted to the Intensive care unit due to septic shock. Three patients died at 4, 5 and 35 days after diagnosis of RHV/ENT, PIV-3 and RHV/ENT respectively. Conclusion Most of the cases of RVI were due to RHV/ENT. Patients with PIV 3 were less likely to develop LRTI. Lung transplant recipients developed LRTI with similar incidence to non-lung recipients. Our data shows a very low mortality of 3% after RVI in our SOT cohort, which warrants larger studies. Disclosures Michele I. Morris, MD, Viracor Eurofins (Advisor or Review Panel member)

Abstract:
Abstract Preterm birth is associated with higher blood pressure, which could be because preterm birth alters early aortic elastin and collagen development to cause increased arterial stiffness. We measured central and conduit artery size and multiple indices of arterial stiffness to define the extent and severity of macrovascular changes in individuals born preterm. A total of 102 young adults born preterm and 102 controls who were born after an uncomplicated pregnancy underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance on a Siemens 1.5 T scanner to measure the aortic cross-sectional area in multiple locations. Ultrasound imaging with a Philips CX50 and linear array probe was used to measure carotid and brachial artery diameters. Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity and the augmentation index were measured by SphygmoCor, brachial-femoral pulse wave velocity by Vicorder and aortic pulse wave velocity by cardiovascular magnetic resonance. The cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) was used as a measurement of global stiffness, and ultrasound was used to assess peripheral vessel distensibility. Adults born preterm had 20% smaller thoracic and abdominal aortic lumens (2.19±0.44 vs. 2.69±0.60 cm2, P<0.001; 1.25±0.36 vs. 1.94±0.45 cm2, P<0.001, respectively) but similar carotid and brachial diameters to adults born at term. Pulse wave velocity was increased (5.82±0.80 vs. 5.47±0.59 m s−1, P<0.01, 9.06±1.25 vs. 8.33±1.28 m s−1, P=0.01, 5.23±1.19 vs. 4.75±0.91 m s−1, P<0.01) and carotid distensibility was decreased (4.75±1.31 vs. 5.60±1.48 mm Hg−1103, P<0.001) in this group compared with the group born at term. However, the global and peripheral arterial stiffness measured by CAVI and brachial ultrasound did not differ (5.95±0.72 vs. 5.98±0.60, P=0.80 and 1.07±0.48 vs. 1.19±0.54 mm Hg−1103, P=0.12, respectively). Adults who are born preterm have significant differences in their aortic structure from adults born at term, but they have relatively small differences in central arterial stiffness that may be partially explained by blood pressure variations.

Abstract:
Background Informed consent confers upon participants the right to decline or accept participation in a study in equal measure. Consent declines can be used as a potential metric to assess the adequacy of the informed consent process. Limited literature is available on the reporting of consent declines in Clinical Research. We evaluated randomized controlled trials published in three high-impact factor journals for consent declines (four-year period) to assess the extent of exertion of autonomy by research participants. Methods CONSORT flow charts in RCTs published in New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), The Lancet and Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) between 2012 and 2015 were evaluated. The total and per journal proportion of RCTs reporting consent declines was calculated. Percentage of consent declines was also compared based on number of centers (single centric vs. multicentric) and type of setting (developed vs. developing). Between-groups analysis was done using Chi Square, Chi Square for trend and a Crude odds ratio [95% C.I] (cOR) were calculated. Results Only 3.7% (1103/29,825) of the published articles were RCTs. Of the 1103 RCTs, only 532 (48.2%) reported consent declines. JAMA had the highest RCTs reporting consent declines (171/267.64%), the Lancet [129,150/781,924, 16.5%] had the most participants declining consent. Difference was significant using Chi square for linear trend [ p < 0.00001]. Consent decline rate was higher in developed countries relative to developing countries [cOR(95% C.I): 2.27(2.23,2.32), p < 0.000001] and in single centric versus multicentric studies [cOR (95% C.I): 3.63(3.56,3.71), p < 0.0000001]. Conclusion Both authors and journal editors need to ensure better reporting of consent declines.

AbstractContext.—Prostatic adenocarcinoma growing within acinar-ductal spaces (intraductal carcinoma) in contrast to high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HG-PIN) impacts negatively on patient outcome. There is currently no generally accepted definition of this lesion nor is it classified in the current prostate cancer grading system (Gleason).Objective.—To define intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) with major and minor diagnostic criteria that clearly separate it from HG-PIN. The implications of such a lesion are discussed with proposals to incorporate this entity into the Gleason grading system.Data Sources.—We reviewed all published data referring to intraductal spread of prostate carcinoma. Articles discussing endometrial, endometrioid, and ductal carcinoma are included.Conclusions.—Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate as defined by major criteria that include enlarged gland structures, neoplastic cells spanning the gland lumen, central comedonecrosis, and further supported by minor diagnostic criteria including molecular biological markers, separate this entity from HG-PIN. Despite its perimeter basal cells, IDC-P should be interpreted as biologically equivalent to Gleason pattern 4 or 5 adenocarcinoma. Several hypotheses are proposed as to the evolution of IDC-P, which is almost always a late event in prostate carcinoma progression. Diagnosis of IDC-P on needle biopsy should prompt therapeutic intervention rather than surveillance or repeat biopsy, as is the case for HG-PIN.

Abstract:
India has 2.64 million tuberculosis (TB) cases, and this number is almost 30% of the worldwide TB burden. The aim of the study was to find out whether there is a relationship between the prevalence of TB cases with respect to gender, duration of cough and location. In this study, sputum samples were collected from the patients who reported cough in outdoor patient departments. All sputum samples were examined microscopically. Age, gender, and location-wise data were prepared for study. During the study period, total 37119 presumptive patients were attended outpatient department and 1103 (2.97%) presumptive patients reported cough. Out of 1103 presumptive cases, 5.98% were found to be sputum positive. The occurrence was highest among male patients (73.1%). The age group 16–30 years was found to be the most vulnerable one. Duration of cough was not found to be a significant factor for sputum positive pulmonary TB. However, there was a locality-wise difference in detection (P < 0.05). The findings suggested that cough reported for any duration should be brought under TB screening. Although the data showed that the occurrence of TB was maximum in male patients, female TB patients should also be brought under thorough investigation. In locations showing significant TB cases, targeted interventions should be initiated by government and non-government agencies to detect the root cause.

Abstract:
Under the current and future climate crisis, a significant rise in soil salinity will likely affect vine productivity in several Mediterranean regions. During the present research, the rootstock effects on salinity tolerance of Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapevine cultivars were studied. In a pot hydroponic culture, own-rooted Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapevine cultivars or grafted onto the rootstocks 1103 P and 101-14 Mgt were drip-irrigated with saline water. A completely randomized 3 × 2 × 2 factorial experiment was designed with two vine rootstocks or own-rooted vines, two scion cultivars, and 100 mM NaCl salinity or control treatments, with six replications. A significant effect of scion cultivar, rootstock, and salinity was observed for most of the measured parameters. At the end of salinity stress period, leaf, shoot, root, and trunk nutrient concentrations were measured. Salinity stress increased Chloride (Cl) and Sodium (Na) concentrations in all parts of the vines and decreased leaf concentrations of Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Nitrogen (N), and Iron (Fe). In contrast, salinity stress increased leaf Boron (B) concentrations, whereas that of Manganese (Mn) remained unaffected. Leaf chlorophyll concentration decreased from 42% to 40% after thirty and sixty days of salt treatment, respectively. A similar trend was observed for the CCM-200 relative chlorophyll content. Salinity significantly decreased steam water potential (Ws), net CO2 assimilation rate (A), and stomatal conductance (gs) in all cases of grafted or own-rooted vines. Sixty days after the beginning of salt treatment, total Phenolics and PSII maximum quantum yield (Fv/Fm) decreased significantly. The rootstock 1103 P seems to be a better excluder for Na and Cl and more tolerant to salinity compared to 101-14 Mgt rootstock.

Abstract:
AbstractIsometric strength tests are gaining popularity in recent years. However, no study has validated any isometric strength tests to assess upper body pulling ability. The aim of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability of isometric prone bench pull. Twenty-three resistance trained athletes (age: 26±4 years, height: 1.75±0.07 m, body mass: 78.6±11.5 kg) were required to perform prone bench pull 1 repetition maximum and isometric prone bench pull tests during the familiarization and actual testing sessions. Isometric prone bench pull was performed at 90° and 120° elbow angles. Peak force and rate of force development measures were highly reliable with intra-correlation coefficient between 0.881–0.987. Peak force obtained from isometric prone bench pull at both elbow angles showed large correlations to prone bench pull 1 repetition maximum (r=0.833–0.858, p<0.01). Linear regression equations to predict 1RM performance from isometric prone bench pull peak force produced an estimated 1RM with a standard error of only 3–6% of the average prone bench pull 1 repetition maximum. The current findings show that isometric prone bench pull is a reliable test and can be used to predict prone bench pull performance.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT: The ground pearl, Eurhizococcus brasiliensis , is considered an important pest of vineyards in southern Brazil, with affected plants exhibiting leaf chlorosis, reduction in vigor, fading, and death. This study evaluated the quality of hardwood cuttings produced from plants infected (I) and not infected (NI) by ground pearl. 'Paulsen 1103' ( Vitis berlandieri × Vitis rupestris ) plants were grown for 29 months in brick-built raised beds either infested or not infested by ground pearl; then, 12 one-year-old branches with a maximum of 12 buds each were cut from each plant, subdivided into three portions (4 buds cutting-1), and subjected to destructive and nondestructive testing. DDestructive testing comprised determining fresh and dry weight, length, internode diameters, and percentage of starch. Nondestructive testing comprised assessing the potential for bud sprouting and shoot development. Each mother plant in the I and NI beds was considered a replicate, with a total of 360 cuttings per treatment. It was observed that cuttings from infected plants had significantly lower (P<0.05) internode diameter, length, and fresh and dry weight than those of the uninfected plants. The percentage of starch content of the cuttings did not differ significantly. All cuttings showed the same percentage (100%) of bud breaking and no changes in growth and development of seedlings regardless of source. Given these results, it was concluded that vines of 'Paulsen 1103' infested with ground pearl produce smaller cuttings than those of uninfected plants but with no reduction in bud break percentage or seedling development

Abstract:
Phakopsora pachyrhizi, the causal organism of soybean rust, was first found on Glycine max in the continental United States in 2004, and subsequently on Pueraria lobata, Desmodium tortuosum, three Phaseolus species, and Erythrina herbacea in the field. The pathogen has been reported to occur on over 150 legume species worldwide, and it is likely to infect native and introduced legume species in the USA. The objective of this study was to determine if USA-native or -naturalized legume species could become infected with P. pachyrhizi in field conditions. A total of 80 accessions representing 52 species in 29 genera were infected in the field trials. Crotalaria retusa, Lathyrus latifolius, Phaseolus angustissimus, P. polystachios, and Robinia hispida are new hosts. This is the first report showing the broad host range of P. pachyrhizi based on field infections in the USA. Some of these hosts grow in the southern USA, and could, like kudzu, overwinter P. pachyrhizi. Accepted for publication 18 August 2008. Published 3 November 2008.

Abstract:
BackgroundAnxiety and depressive disorders (ADD) significantly affect disease activity and pain modulation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Psychopharmacotherapy (PPT) of ADD attempts to improve RA disease activity and manage pain in RA patients.ObjectivesTo determine factors associated with intensive pain syndrome in antidepressants-treated RA-patients at five years endpoint.Methods128 RA-patients (pts) were enrolled, 86% were women with a mean age of 47,4±11,3 (M±SD) yrs. All patients met the full ACR/EULAR 2010 criteria for RA. Disease activity was assessed using DAS28, pain severity – using Brief Pain Inventory scale (BPI). Severe Pain was defined as BPI Worst Pain Score (BPImax) from 7 to 10. 69,4% RA-pts were already taking prednisone (9 [5; 10] mg/day (Me (25%; 75%)), 84,4% - cDMARDs, 7,8% - bDMARDs (anti-TNF-α – 6,3%, rituximab – 1,6%). Biologics treatment duration varied from 1 to 6 years, antidepressants – from 6 to 96 weeks. ADD were diagnosed by psychiatrist in 123 (96,1%) of RA-pts in accordance with ICD-10 in semi-structured interview. Severity of depression and anxiety was evaluated with Montgomery–Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A). RA-pts with ADD were divided into the following treatment groups: 1 – сDMARDs (n=39), 2 – сDMARDs + PPT (sertraline or mianserine) (n=43), 3 – сDMARDs + bDMARDs (n=32), 4 – сDMARDs + bDMARDs + PPT (sertraline or mianserine) (n=9). Baseline BPImax by groups was as follows: 4,82±2,1, 5,85±2,06, 5,5±2,1, 7,57±2,17, respectively (p1-4<0,001; p2-4=0,048; p3-4=0,013). Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine predictors of severe pain.ResultsAt five-years follow-up pain severity was assessed in 74 out of a total of 83 patient. By univariate logistic regression, baseline age, HAQ, CRP, DAS28 and BPImax, presence of extraarticular manifestations, cardiovascular diseases, cognitive impairments and schizotypal personality disorder, lower HADS for anxiety, no remission of anxiety or depression at five years and no history of glucocorticoids usage were significantly (p≤0,3) associated with severe pain at five-years follow-up (Table 1). These variables were subjected to multivariate stepwise logistic regression. Only extraarticular manifestations at baseline (OR 4,01 (95%CI 0,96 – 16,77), p=0,057), no history of glucocorticoids usage (OR 0,15 (95%CI 0,04 – 0,56), p=0,005) and nonremission of anxiety and depressive symptoms at 5-yrs (OR 0,11 (95%CI 0,019 – 0,668), p=0,016) were independently associated with severe pain at 5-years follow-up (R2=0,406, sensitivity 38,5%, specificity 92,7%).Table 1.Factors associated with severe pain at 5 years (univariate logistic regression).FactorpOR95%CIlowupBaseline age,1291,047,9871,112Baseline HAQ,0562,155,9814,734Baseline DAS28,0751,361,9691,911Baseline CRP,1511,011,9961,026Baseline BPImax,0831,269,9701,662Extraarticular manifestations at baseline (yes/no),0274,2781,17915,517Cardiovascular diseases at baseline (yes/no),2592,111,5777,718Cognitive impairments at baseline (yes/no),2182,758,54913,860Schizotypal personality disorder,0853,733,83416,715HADS anxiety,259,904,7581,077Anxiety and depressive symptoms remission at 5-yrs endpoint,102,313,0771,261History of glucocorticoids usage (yes/no),025,234,066,833ConclusionRA patients with severe pain should be routinely screened for anxiety and depression, and in patients with probable ADD consultation with a psychiatrist and prescription of antidepressants should be considered.Disclosure of InterestsNone declared
