পুনর্গঠন পদ্ধতি বা Comparative Reconstruction ( সংক্ষেপে CR Method) তুলনামূলক ভাষাতত্ত্বের নবতম সংযোজন। ইয়ুং গ্রামারিয়ানদের ধ্বনিপরিবর্তন সূত্র, বিশেষত গ্রাসম্যানের অনুসন্ধানের পথ ধরে এর বিকাশ। পুনর্গঠনের মূল কথা : 'recovery of earlier stages which is not attested.' এই পদ্ধতিটি জটিল নয়, কিন্তু বহু ধারায় ও পথে প্রবেশ্য। আধুনিক ভারতীয় প্রায় সব ভাষারই জন্মসূচনায় সংস্কৃতের প্রভাব ছিল অবধারিত। ইন্দো-ইউরোপীয় ভাষায় প্রত্ন শব্দগুলির ধ্বনি পুনর্গঠনে প্রধান সূত্রগুলির ইঙ্গিত সংস্কৃতে লভ্য। তবে সংস্কৃত ও ইন্দো-ইউরোপীয় ভাষার মধ্যেকার সম্পর্ক নিয়ে প্রচলিত অনেক ধারণাই অস্পষ্ট। পূর্বতন ভাষারূপ বা

প্রচলিত অর্থে তৎসম শব্দ বলতে বাংলা ভাষার যে-সব সংস্কৃত শব্দ কোনো রকম পরিবর্তন বা রূপান্তর ছাড়াই গৃহীত ও ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে সেগুলিকে বোঝায়। কিন্তু সংস্কৃত শব্দ ও তৎসম শব্দ সমার্থ নয়। তৎসম অর্থ হচ্ছে: সংস্কৃতের সিম বা সমান'। সুকুমার সেনের মতে, সংস্কৃত হল 'বৈদিক যুগের অন্তে কথ্য ভাষা হইতে লেখ্য ভাষায় প্রত্যাবর্তন'। তিনি এ পর্যায়ে রচিত 'উপনিষদের ভাষাকে সংস্কৃতের পূর্বরূপ' বলেছেন। তাঁর বিশ্বাস (প্রাগুক্ত), কবি কালিদাস 'উদাত্ত অনুদাত্ত স্বরচিত এবং অবিকৃত বিভক্তিযুক্ত বৈদিক ভাষা' অর্থেই সংস্কৃত পদটি প্রয়োগ করেছেন। বাংলা ভাষার ব্যাকরণ পুনর্গঠন করতে গিয়ে বাঙালি সংস্কৃত-পণ্ডিতেরা পাণিনিকে নিদান মেনেছে

The structure of every language on grammar. For this, grammer is called the constitution of language. While the constitution contains the laws and regulations of a country, the grammar contains the laws and regulations of the language. Grammer identifies the rules of varios elements of language (sandhi, prefixes, suffixes, case, samās etc). The Paninian version of Sanskrit grammar has the same function. ড. বটকৃষ্ণ ঘোষ ১৯৩৪-৩৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সংস্কৃত ও বাংলা বিভাগে লেকচারার হিসেবে কাজ করেছিলেন। তিনি ছিলেন একজন বিশিষ্ট পণ্ডিত ও ভাষাতাত্ত্বিক। প্রাচীন ভারতের ভাষা-সংস্কৃতি-ধর্ম-সমাজ প্রভৃতি বিষয়ে তার কৌতূহল ও পাণ্ডিত্য ছিল অসাধারণ। কিন্তু প্রতিকূল পরিবেশের কারণে ক্ষমতার পুরো সদ্ব্যবহার করা তাঁর পক্ষে সম্ভব হয়নি। তবু স্বল্পায়ু জীবনে গবেষক হিসেবে তাঁর সাফল্য অত্যন্ত উল্লেখযোগ্য । ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক হিসেবে পরিচিতি প্রদানের সূত্রে তাঁর জীবন ও কর্মের মূল্যায়ন করার চেষ্টা হয়েছে এই প্রবন্ধে।

ছন্দ শব্দের সাধারণ অর্থ ছাঁদ বা প্যাটার্ন। ধ্বনিপ্রবাহ যখন বিশেষ একটি ছাঁদে বাঁধা পড়ে, তখনই তা ভাবে-ভাষায় বন্ধনেও বন্ধনহীন গতিতে ছন্দ হয়ে ওঠে। হৃদপিন্ড বা ঘড়ির সুনির্দিষ্ট ও সুনিয়ন্ত্রিত ধ্বনিপ্রবাহেও এক ধরনের ছন্দের উপলব্ধি হয়। এভাবে কাব্যের ধ্বনি প্রবাহ যখন একটি বিশেষ ছাঁদে তরঙ্গিত হয়, তখন কাব্যের ছন্দ আমাদের কানে ধরা দেয়।

রসশাস্ত্রের সৃষ্টির কাল এখনও নিঃসংশয়ে নির্দিষ্ট করা যায় নি। তবে আলংকারিকরা সকলেই রসের অস্তিত্ব স্বীকার করেছেন। বস্তুতঃ রস ও অলংকার- উভয়েই কাব্যসৌন্দর্যের দুটি উৎসরূপে বিরাজমান। ভরত থেকে জগন্নাথ পর্যন্ত সংস্কৃত আলংকারিকেরা রস সম্পর্কে যে সূক্ষ্ম ও বিস্তৃত আলোচনা করেছেন, তা সমকালীন অন্য কোনো কাব্যতত্ত্বের ধারায় বিরল রসশাস্ত্রের সৃষ্টি কোন সময় হতে হয়েছে তা বলা সহজ নয়। রস কথাটির উল্লেখ উপনিষদে দেখতে পাওয়া গেলেও কাব্যে যে অর্থে রস শব্দের প্রয়োগ সে অর্থে উপনিষদে পাওয়া যায় না।

নাটকে বাস্তবতা সৃষ্টির অন্যতম উপাদান সংলাপ। রচনার কৌশল ও চরিত্র- বৈশিষ্ট্য অনুযায়ী সংলাপের ভাষার পার্থক্য বিশ্বজনীন। সংস্কৃত নাটকেও সংলাপ রচনার ক্ষেত্রে চরিত্র অনুযায়ী ভাব ব্যবহার লক্ষণীয়। আবার কাহিনীর ক্রমবিকাশ ও আবেগের তারতম্য অনুযায়ী ভাষাগত ভিন্নতাও স্পষ্ট। সংস্কৃত সাহিত্যতাত্ত্বিকেরা নাটকে ভাষা ব্যবহারের সুনির্দিষ্ট সূত্রও নির্ধারণ করে দিয়েছেন। এরই সূত্র ধরে সংস্কৃত নাটকে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে প্রাকৃত সংলাপ- শৌরসেনী মাগধী, মহারাষ্ট্রী, অবন্তী, শকারী, চাণ্ডালী প্রভৃতি। তবে সংলাপের ক্ষেত্রে শৌরসেনী ও মাগধী এবং সংগীতের ক্ষেত্রে মাহারাষ্ট্রী প্রাকৃতের প্রাধান্য সুস্পষ্ট।
