The thesis is devoted to the problem of handling the new tool material fine grain diamond-carbide inserts, ATPM, establishing the physical characteristics of the process of diamond-spark grinding, the establishment and analysis of qualitative regularities, to achieve high performance and lowest total technological cost. Studied the physical characteristics of the process of spark-diamond grinding plates, ATPM based on the analysis of the energy intensity of the process and factors of grinding, the features of the wear of diamond wheels. Features of formation of a roughness of a surface processed layer of superhard materials, depending on the given profile of the diamond wheel. Determined on the basis of stoikosty testing the optimal mode of grinding the cutting edge of the instrument, which can obtain the lowest value of the technology cost from the consumer.

The dissertation is devoted to improvements in flat face grinding process due to controlling the parameters of contact zone between grinding wheel and workpiece that directly affect thermal stress reduction in the processing zone. For this purpose: Using the approach of analytic geometry and geometric computer-aided modelling and simulation, the linear parameters and the area of contact zone between wheel working surface and workpiece are analysed and the dependences for their determination are obtained. This has made it possible to propose methods of grinding, based on controlling of spindle axis inclination for the purpose of regulation of values of such parameters of grinding process as concavity, height of residual ridges and area of the contact between wheel working surface and workpiece. Through 3D modelling and simulation of the systems regarding the process of dressing abrasive wheels with diamond dressers and vibration grinding, the possibility of providing the workability of diamond dressers made of synthetic polycrystalline diamond at the level of natural diamonds and the intensification of self-sharpening diamond grains is proved that contributes significantly to the control of the parameters of contact zone between grinding wheel and workpiece. On the basis of the analysis of obtained features and dependences of controlling of parameters of the contact zone between wheel working surface and workpiece, the original technical solutions in order to enhance the efficiency of flat face grinding process by means of improving the factors affecting its temperature decrease in grinding zone are proposed.
