This study is proposed to analyze conversation analysis, especially for turn-taking strategy in a video of Actors on Actors Conversation by Variety featuring Zendaya and Andrew Garfield. This study used a qualitative method with Stenstrom’s framework to analyze the turn-taking strategy used in the conversation. The process of analysis consists of four steps; streaming Variety’s Actors on Actors Conversation video featuring Zendaya and Andrew Garfield, transcribing the conversation, classifying the data, and interpreting the data. The result of this study showed that turn-taking strategies appear in the conversation. There were starting up, promoting, interrupting, repeating words, taking over, overlapping, appealing, silent pauses, and filled pauses. The most frequent turn-taking strategy used is the overlapping strategy. Therefore, this study suggests that conversation analysis is important for understanding the intent of people's speech. In addition, this study can be used as a reflection on both theoretical and practical contributions. In theory, this study supports the theory of conversation analysis in turn-taking strategies. In fact, teachers can use it as a reference for applied linguistics courses.

Notas sobre lo camp de Susan Sontag (1964) supuso el asentamiento del camp en el ámbito cultural y académico; pero nunca había trascendido a la comunicación de masas. Con la Gala del Met de 2019 el camp llega a todos los públicos, a través de artistas y modelos famosos. En este artículo nos acercamos a la expresión del camp a través del diseño presentado por Tommy Hilfiger para la actriz Zendaya haciendo una reescritura del cuento de hadas, La Cenicienta (Perrault, 1697). La estética inspirada en la adaptación de Disney en 1950 se presenta como un elemento camp mezclando conceptos como la magia, la transformación y la inocencia a través de la moda. Reescribir y reinterpretar cuentos europeos forma parte de la tradición literaria y cinematográfica; la moda toma este relevo en diseños utilizando los elementos propios del cuento para una nueva construcción del relato. Desde el camp se busca reescribir distintas narraciones socialmente aceptadas como la feminidad, a través de la ironía, la imitación y la exageración -elementos propios del camp- observados en muchos de los trajes de la gala. Este trabajo busca encontrar los signos que definen la estética de la inocencia, los símbolos que se han constituido como mitos consolidados representantes de la infancia, y su posible utilización para la creación de un diseño de moda como elemento camp. Veremos los puntos de encuentro entre la adaptación cinematográfica, la presentación del traje en la Gala del Met y la sensibilidad camp.

Abstract Backround: The in vitro cytotoxic effects of six different clear aligner materials were evaluated using the MTT analysis. Methods: The clear aligner material samples [Duran (ScheuDental GmbH, Iserlohn, Germany), Zendura-Flx (Bay Materials LLC, Fremont, CA, USA), Taglus (Laxmi Dental Export Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai, India), Smart Track (Align Technology, San Jose, CA, USA), Zendura (Bay Materials LLC, Fremont, CA, USA), Essix C + (Essix® (Raintree Essix, Inc., 4001 Division St, Metairie, LA-USA)] were initially kept in a saline solution in airtight test tubes for 8 weeks at 37°C. According to the recommended ISO standards, the weights of the samples were divided by the volumes of the dilutions in the ratio of 0.1 g/ml. To evaluate the cytotoxicity of the samples, an MTT analysis was performed using a human gingival fibroblast cell line (HGF). To analyse the data, the Kruskal– Wallis test was applied (a=0.05). Results: Zendura was the most cytotoxic material resulting in 67.3 ± 16.20% cell viability, followed by Smart Track with 87.6 ± 5.53% cell viability. While Duran, Essix C + had 92.6 ± 26.34% and 94.9 ± 8.54% cell viability, Zendura-Flx, Taglus had 106.9 ± 12.76% and 113.183 ± 7.45% cell viability, respectively. Conclusion: While Zendura and Smart Track showed mild cytotoxicity, other materials showed greater cell viabilities. According to the ISO standards, the clinical use of each brand of aligners, except Zendura, may be considered reliable. Taking into account standard deviation, Zendura and Duran should be used with caution. The suppliers of aligners should adhere to the manufacturer’s recommendations since an increase in ion release might arise from material wear.

Amaç: Şeffaf plak tedavisinin başarılı olabilmesi için, plak materyalinin çevre periodontal dokulara zarar vermeden istenilen diş hareketlerini yaptırabilecek yeterli ortodontik kuvveti sağlaması gerekmektedir. Şeffaf plakların malzemesinin mekanik özellikleri üretilen ortodontik kuvvet için kritik bir role sahip olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmada, farklı şeffaf plak materyallerinin ortodontik kuvveti etkileyebilecek mekanik özelliklerinin değişimlerinin tespiti ve etkilerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sıfır hipotezi, termoplastik malzemelerden elde edilmiş farklı şeffaf plak materyallerinin farklı mekanik özellikler göstermesi sebebiyle CA Pro, GT Flex, Zendura Flex, Zendura, Taglus ve GT Pro plak materyallerinin mekanik özelliklerinin incelenmesidir.Yöntem: Çalışmada 6 farklı şeffaf plak materyalinin (CA Pro, GT Flex, Zendura Flex, Zendura, Taglus, GT Pro) mekanik özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla ilgili standartlara uygun olarak çekme deneyleri yapılmıştır. Çekme deneyi sonuçlarından materyellerin gerilme uzama eğrilerinin yanında elastisite modülü, çekme dayanımı ve kopma uzaması parametreleri elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlar istastiksel olarak değerlendirilmiş ve materyallerin mekanik özellikleri yorumlanmıştır.Bulgular: Materyal türlerine göre elastisite modülü, çekme dayanımı ve kopma uzaması ölçümleri istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık göstermiştir (p=0,001; p<0,01). Yapılan ikili karşılaştırmalar değerlendirildiğinde en düşük elastisite modülü ve çekme dayanımı değerine Zendura Flex materyalinin sahip olmasının istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu tespit edilmiştir.Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre çok katmanlı yapıda olan Zendura Flex ve CA Pro materyalleri, en düşük elastisite modülü ve bu sonucu destekleyecek şekilde en düşük çekme dayanımı değerleri göstermiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçları farklı şeffaf plak materyallerinin farklı mekanik özellikler gösterdiğini desteklemiştir. Şeffaf plak tedavisinin başarısını arttırmak amacıyla plak materyalleri mekanik özelliklerinin iyi bilinmesi ile uygun plak materyallerinin belirlenebileceği öngörülmüştür.

Due to the fact that retainers are often recommended for a lifetime, their endurance and longevity are directly related to the quality of the materials used in their production. Our study examined the water sorption, water solubility, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy of six commercially available thermoplastic retainer materials (Essix Plus, Zendura, Duran Plus, Tru-Tain DX, Imprelon S pd, and Essix ACE). Moreover, this study evaluated the effect of thermoforming and thermocycling on the water sorption and solubility and surface molecular composition of the tested materials. The present study found that the type of retainer material affected water sorption and solubility capabilities. In addition, the aging methods employed significantly affected some retainer materials’ water sorption and solubility. Moreover, the surface molecular composition evaluated by FTIR spectroscopy revealed that most of the evaluated materials had similar FTIR spectra except for Zendura. All materials had a spectrum that resembled polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) while Zendura had a spectrum similar to semi-rigid polyurethane (PU). Only Zendura had relatively unstable surface structural composition evaluated under the effects of (thermoforming and thermocycling) compared to all tested materials.

The use of metal-free thermoplastic materials plays a key role in the orthodontic digital workflow due to the increasing demand for clear aligner treatments. Three thermoplastic polymers commonly used to fabricate clear aligners, namely Duran®, Biolon® and Zendura®, were investigated to evaluate the effect of thermoforming (T.), storage in artificial saliva (S.A.S.) and their combination on their mechanical properties. Elastic modulus and yield stress of the specimens were characterized. Each material was characterized for each condition through tensile tests (ISO527-1). The results showed that thermoforming does not lead to a significant decrease in yield stress, except for Zendura® that showed about a 30% decrease. An increase of the elastic modulus of Duran® and Zendura®, instead, was observed after thermoforming. The same increase was noticed for the yield stress of Duran®. For S.A.S. specimens, the elastic modulus generally decreases compared to supplier condition (A.S.) and simply thermoformed material. A decrease of yield stress, instead, is significant for Zendura®. The results demonstrated that the impact of the operating conditions on the mechanical properties can vary according to the specific polymer. To design reliable and effective orthodontic treatments, the materials should be selected after their mechanical properties are characterized in the simulated intraoral environment.

ABSTRACT Objectives: To investigate the in vitro cytotoxicity of different thermoplastic materials for clear aligners on human primary gingival fibroblasts (HGFs). Materials and Methods: Four materials for clear aligners were considered in this study: Duran (Scheu-Dental GmbH, Iserlohn, Germany), Biolon (Dreve Dentamid GmbH, Unna, Germany), Zendura (Bay Materials LLC, Fremont, CA, USA), and SmartTrack (Align Technology, San Jose, CA, USA). Three out of four materials (Duran, Biolon, Zendura) were assessed as thermoformed and nonthermoformed, whereas the SmartTrack was assessed only as thermoformed. The samples were placed at 37°C in airtight test tubes containing Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium (DMEM; 0.1 mg/mL) for 14 days. The cell viability of HGFs cultured with this medium was assessed by the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Data were analyzed by means of one-way and two-way analysis of variance and post hoc tests (α = 0.05). Results: Each material exhibited a slight cytotoxic effect after 14 days. The highest cytotoxicity level on HGFs was achieved by Biolon (64.6% ± 3.3 of cell viability), followed by Zendura (74.4% ± 2.3 of cell viability), SmartTrack (78.8% ± 6.3 of cell viability), and finally Duran (84.6% ± 4 of cell viability), which was the least cytotoxic. In the comparison between nonthermoformed and thermoformed materials for Duran, Biolon, and Zendura, the thermoformed materials showed the highest level of cytotoxicity (P < .001). Conclusions: Under the experimental conditions of this study, all the materials for clear aligners presented a slight cytotoxicity. Biolon was the most cytotoxic and the thermoforming process increased the cytotoxicity of the materials.

Está inspirada na novela de María Solar Os nenos da varíola (2017) e nas investigacións de Antonio López Mariño sobre o papel de Isabel Zendal, Reitora do Hospicio da Coruña, e unha das protagonistas da expedición da varíola que parte a América desde Coruña a principios do século XIX. Ademais do texto, inclúese na presente achega unha representación da obra a cargo dos nenos e nenas de 6º de Primaria do CEIP Labarta Pose, do curso 2017/2018, baixo a dirección da súa profesora, autora do presente traballo. Osmanlı Toplum hayatının en önemli unsurlarından birisi, yaklaşık iki yüz yıldan bu yana yaygın olarak Alevi şeklinde adlandırılan unsurlardır. Osmanlı idaresi, özellikle Safevî Devleti ile yaşanan siyasi rekabet ekseninde Sünni politikalara önem vermiş idi. Özellikle Kanuni dönemiyle beraber, Sünni siyaseti önceleyen ve Gayrı Sünni unsurları sürekli olarak kontrol altında tutmaya çalışan bir yönetim anlayışını takip ettiğini ifade etmek mümkündür. Osmanlı yönetimi için eli kalem tutan ve dolayısıyla da çevresini etkileyebilme potansiyeli yüksek olan kişilerin bu tür Gayrı Sünni eğilimlerle olan ilişkileri daha dikkatlice takip edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla Gayrı Sünni alanı tanımlayan ilhad, zendeka ve rafz gibi kavramlar, dini motifler taşımakla beraber, daha ziyade siyasi sebeplerin mahsulü olarak da düşünülmelidir. Osmanlı yönetimi bu tür fikri eğilimlerle zaman zaman taşra güçlerini kullanarak sert bir şekilde mücadele ederken, burada bahse konu ettiğimiz örnek davada olduğu gibi, zaman zaman da teftiş ve hukuk mekanizmalarını işletmiştir. Maalesef bugüne ulaşan metinler içerisinde bu tür fikir ya da eğilimlerin ne şekilde, hangi argümanlar ile sorgulandığını gösteren uygulama metinlerinin sayısı bir elin parmaklarını geçmeyecek kadardır. Benzerlerine nazaran biraz daha kapsamlı olan buradaki örnek olayın raporu, bir taraftan konu bağlamında kullanılan argümanların neler olduğunu ortaya koymakta, öte taraftan Osmanlı hukuk pratiğinde ilhâd temalı bir şikâyetin nasıl takip edildiğini, kimlerin hangi ifadeleri verdikleri, bunlara karşı yerel güçlerin tavırlarını da göstermektedir. Osmanlı dünyasında bahse konu suçlar gündeme geldiğinde, yalancı şahitlik kurumunun nasıl çalışmakta olduğu meselesi de çok çarpıcı bir şekilde ortaya çıkmaktadır. Hiç şüphesiz Osmanlı adalet mekanizmasında yer yer bir katalog suç olma vasfı da taşıyan ilhad ve zendeka davalarında, ahalinin, gerek dava sahiplerinin, gerekse yalancı şahitlerin beklentilerini boşa çıkartacak şekilde ifadeler vermiş olması son derecede önem taşımaktadır.

(1) Background: the aim of this study was to investigate the transmittance levels of aligners in relation to different thermoforming disks and printers after 14 days of in vitro aging. (2) Methods: the transmittance level of 18 aligners was investigated. Three printers were used to create the aligner: Carbon L1, Prodways LD20 and RapidShape D100+. Each printer produced 6 aligners: three were made of Zendura FLX material and three of Scheu Ca Pro+. Each sample was subjected to spectrophotometry analysis of its transmittance levels, for a total of 54 measurements at T0. Then, all samples were aged in vitro at a constant temperature in artificial saliva supplemented with food coloring for 14 days each. The spectrophotometry protocol was repeated, and the same 54 measurements were collected at T1 (after aging). The resulting data were analyzed and compared by means of ANOVA (p < 0.05). (3) Results: all tested aligners revealed lower transmittance values after aging. Scheu CA Pro+ aligners showed higher transparency at T0, but a significant worsening of its aesthetic at T1. On the other hand, Zendura FLX aligners presented slightly reduced transmittance levels before aging, which, however, remained more stable after 14 days, showing no significant difference. In the specific, aligners produced by Prodways LD20 printers showed better optical properties than the others, both at T0 and T1. (4) Conclusions: Differences in pre-and-post-aging optical properties of aligners are influenced by the manufacturing process. Both the thermoplastic disks and the printers, thanks to new technologies, played a positive role in the final transparency of the product, which improved in all values compared to previous studies.

A cikk egy magyarországi buddhista közösség rendszeres elvonulásainak kommunikációs színtereit elemzi. Röviden bemutatja az elvonulás hátterét, kontextusát, célját, programjait, helyszínét, különös tekintettel a központi színtérre: a zendóra. Leírja, mit jelent ez a színtér a kommunikáló ágensek számára, valamint hogyan határozza meg az ott zajló események lehetséges interpretációit. Fontos kérdés, hogy a résztvevők a színtéren zajló kommunikáció révén milyen felkészültségekhez jutnak, amelyek segítik őket a mindennapi problémamegoldásban. A felkészültségek kialakulásában fontos szerepük van az elvonulás mint színtér sajátos kommunikációs jellemzőinek és szabályainak, amelyek bizonyos szintű hozzászokást igényelnek. Ilyen például a csend megszokottól eltérő szerepe, a beszélőváltás módja, valamint a figyelmes hallgatás előnyben részesítése a reflektálással szemben.

Se aplicarán en este sentido las recientes teorías anglosajonas que apuntan hacia la superación de la posmodernidad. Apoyándonos en el análisis de fenómenos culturales y socioeconómicos recientes, los mecanismos del mundo editorial y una encuesta hecha entre los internautas, identificaremos tres representaciones posibles de Zenda: una posmoderna, definida por la heterogeneidad y el antielitismo; la segunda nacida de valores positivos y humanistas propios de una nueva episteme que pretende suprimir la mediación para acceder más de cerca a las cosas (autenticidad, independencia, accesibilidad, hospitalidad); por último, una representación basada en los simulacros de estos valores, asimilados y desvirtuados por la lógica capitalista que sigue gobernando.

Abstract This research aims to identify the phases of the hero patterns in “The Prisoner of Zenda” a novel written by Anthony Hope experienced by the main character as the hero. Campbell (2004) mentioned that the pattern is prominent in heroic fiction referred to as monomyth. This research uses a descriptive qualitative design to examine the intricacies of the analysis method by Ratna (2004) the method of library research was employed to gather the data, and the method of descriptive analysis by Ratna (2004) was used to analyze the data. This research was made to fulfill phases of hero patterns Separation, Initiation, and Return. The result of the research Rudolf Rassendyll as the hero has passed 15 stages of hero's patterns based on Campbell's theory only Woman as a temptress and The Magic Flight no found in The Prisoners of Zenda. The stages of the hero's patterns have the function of uncovering the quest that the hero wants to reach. This leads to the conclusion that hero’s patterns often follow the same pattern as theorized and mentioned in the theory of Joseph Campbell. The objective of this study was to evaluate in vitro the effect of pH on the mechanical properties of three different acetates brands used to manufacture dental aligners. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 27 specimens of thermoformed acetates of the brands Zendura A., Dentsply Sirona and Valdi were incubated in artificial saliva at 37°C in a Shel-Lab 1510E incubator and immersed twice a day for 5 minutes in beverages with different pH levels to measure its elastic limit on days 0, 7 and 14. STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL: Data analysis was performed using the KolmorogovSmirnov and Levene tests, and later with analysis of variance (ANOVA), multiple comparisons post -hoc with the Sheffe test and the Friedman statistical test for paired samples; all with a significance level of 0.05 using the IBM SPSS Statistics 26 statistical package. RESULTS: The elastic limit measurements on days 7 and 14 indicate significant differences between the different pHs and are not consistent between the three brands of acetates. The Zendura A brand at neutral pH increased and then recovered to 99%, at acidic pH it decreased to 85% then 64%, and at alkaline pH it increased more than half, then returned to 105% of baseline. The Dentsply Sirona brand in neutral pH had a decrease and then recovered to 96%, in acidic pH it increased progressively to 113% and 118%, and in alkaline pH it decreased to 69% to later recover to 84%. The Valdi brand in all groups increased and at the end was recovered, in neutral pH to 92%, in acidic pH to 87%, and in alkaline pH to 80% with respect to the initial value. CONCLUSIONS: The mechanical properties of the aligners vary and may be affected depending on the pH to which they are subjected, having variability in their elastic limit. The specimens subjected to acidic and alkaline drinks had a greater decrease in their elastic limit when compared to those subjected to neutral pH. In general, it was possible to observe that the specimens increased their elastic limit on day 7 and then approached their initial value on day 14.

P195 Clomethiazole (CMZ; ‘Zendra’) is a neuroprotective drug that enhances GABA-A receptor activity. Two clinical trials in stroke patients (pts) were performed: 92CM01 (n=17) and CLASS (CLomethiazole Acute Stroke Study; n=678 on CMZ). In CLASS, a post-hoc analysis showed that CMZ appeared to improve outcome in pts with clinical signs suggestive of a large stroke. Dosing for the pivotal trial, CLASS-I, was based on information from these previous studies. In 92CM01, a loading dose of 6 mg/kg given over 15 min followed by a maintenance dose of 69 mg/kg to 24 h was the maximum CMZ dose that could be given without excessive sedation. In this study, plasma sampling from each pt allowed for individual kinetic modelling. In CLASS, the same dose regimen was used. One sample for drug analysis was taken from each pt at the end of the 24-h infusion. In total, 619 CLASS pts were eligible for a population kinetic evaluation. The clearance estimates in both studies were in the same range. Therefore, the pharmacokinetic parameter estimates from study 92CM01 could be used to simulate the plasma concentrations according to a 2-compartment model for different dosing regimens. According to the protocols, CMZ infusion should be temporarily interrupted if pts become excessively sedated. In CLASS, there were 218 infusion interruptions in 158 pts. CMZ kinetics did not differ between pts who had interruptions and those who did not. There was a delay in the occurrence of excessive sedation, with the majority of interruptions seen between 10 and 24 h. Pts with clinical signs suggesting a large stroke were particularly susceptible to sedation in CLASS, a new dose regimen was needed to reduce excessive sedation in these pts. For CLASS-I the adjusted dosage regimen was calculated as a total CMZ dose of 68 mg/kg, given as a 15 min loading dose, followed by two maintenance doses over 7.75 and 16 h respectively. This should avoid high plasma concentrations during the second half of the infusion period. Taking into account treatment interruptions, CLASS-I pts are predicted to receive an average dose of 63 mg/kg, the same as was actually received by such pts in CLASS. ‘Zendra’ is a trademark, the property of the AstraZeneca group of companies

To assess the two translations, the researchers apply each criterion to three excerpts taken from the novel and assess their translation and to what extent the source texts are appropriately rendered.

Knowledge is the result of knowing, and this happens after people sense a certain object. Sensing occurs through the human senses, namely the senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Most of human knowledge is obtained through the eyes and ears. Vaccines are one of the most effective and economical ways to prevent infectious diseases, making the development of vaccines to attenuate coronavirus infections very necessary. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge with community compliance in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. This type of research uses analytic observational, with a cross-sectional design. A sample of 115 people used the accidental sampling technique, in which the researcher used an instrument in the form of an online questionnaire via a google form and distributed via whatsapp, instagram, and zendly applications to the community in RT-III Binanga environment. The results of the study using the Chi-Squar test showed a p-value = 0.027, which means that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and community compliance in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

It is difficult to find research papers collecting comparative results about characterization studies of clear aligners. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to provide the first comparative analysis of most commercial clear aligners, in terms of their stability towards intra-oral staining agents, their physicochemical and optical properties, as well as their water absorption behavior. Five types of aligners, characterized by different techniques, are considered: Erkodur, Essix Plastic, Ghost Aligner, Zendura, and Invisalign. The obtained results show that clear aligners are made up of PETG, semi rigid PU, and a mixture of PU and PETG, with different degrees of crystallinity which affect the transparency of each aligner. In particular, the PETG-based materials reveal the highest value of short-range order and the highest properties in terms of transparency in the visible range. After 14 days of immersion into red wine and coffee, PETG and PU-based aligners reveal a perceivable change in color (NBS values from 1.5 to 3), corresponding to a loss of transparency due to the deposition of impurities on the surface. These results are particularly marked for Invisalign, showing changes towards other colors (NBS up to 35), probably due to the thermoforming process which led to the formation of a wrinkled surface entrapping the impurities.

Background: The early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic overwhelmed general hospitals in Spain. In response, a dedicated hospital for COVID-19 care, the Hospital de Emergencias Enfermera Isabel Zendal (HEEIZ), was established. This study aimed to compare clinical outcomes of COVID-19 patients treated at the specialized HEEIZ with those at conventional general hospitals (CGHs) in Madrid, Spain. Methods: The study was a prospective, observational cohort study including COVID-19 patients admitted to the HEEIZ and 14 CGHs (December 2020 to August 2021). Patients were assigned based on hospital preference. Clinical data were collected and analyzed using multivariate regression to assess primary and secondary outcomes, including hospital mortality, need of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), and pharmacological treatments. Results: The HEEIZ cohort (n = 2997) was younger and had lower Charlson comorbidity scores than the CGH cohort (n = 1526). Adjusted HEEIZ hospital mortality was not significantly higher compared with CGHs (OR: 1.274; 95% CI: 0.781–2.079; p = 0.332). Conclusions: During the study period, patients admitted to the HEEIZ showed no significant differences in clinical outcomes, compared with patients admitted at CGHs. These results might support the use of specialized centers in managing pandemic surges, allowing CGHs to handle other needs.

This research aims to investigate the influence of model height employed in the deep drawing of orthodontic aligner sheets on force transmission and aligner thickness. Forty aligner sheets (Zendura FLX) were thermoformed over four models of varying heights (15, 20, 25, and 30 mm). Normal contact force generated on the facial surface of the upper right central incisor (Tooth 11) was measured using pressure-sensitive films. Aligner thickness around Tooth 11 was measured at five points. A digital caliper and a micro-computed tomography (µ-CT) were employed for thickness measurements. The normal contact force exhibited an uneven distribution across the facial surface of Tooth 11. Model 15 displayed the highest force (88.9 ± 23.2 N), while Model 30 exhibited the lowest (45.7 ± 15.8 N). The force distribution was more favorable for bodily movement with Model 15. Thickness measurements revealed substantial thinning of the aligner after thermoforming. This thinning was most pronounced at the incisal edge (50% of the original thickness) and least at the gingivo-facial part (85%). Additionally, there was a progressive reduction in aligner thickness with increasing model height, which was most significant on the facial tooth surfaces. We conclude that the thermoplastic aligner sheets undergo substantial thinning during the thermoforming process, which becomes more pronounced as the height of the model increases. As a result, there is a decrease in both overall and localized force transmission, which could lead to increased tipping by the aligner and a diminished ability to achieve bodily movement.

The Western Ghats represents a small part of the Deccan Traps continental flood basalt province that erupted about 65 million years ago. It is an area of outstanding scenic beauty and has attracted the attention of geologists, naturalists and geomorphologists for over a century. One of the unique habitats in the Western Ghats are the rocky plateaus. Previous studies have covered plant species composition, geological and geomorphological status of the rocky plateaus. An analytical study of microhabitats and associated therophytes of four rocky plateau sites was conducted. The study sites were Durgawadi Plateau, Naneghat Plateau which are basalt outcrops and Zenda plateau and Amba Plateau, which are laterite outcrops on the escarpment of the northern Western Ghats. The results revealed a correlation between basalt and lateritic rock outcrops as well as ephemeral plant elements. All four outcrops are similar in their nutrient status but the microhabitats of these plateaus are extremely different from each other.

Abstract Background: Radiotherapy (RT) has a pivotal role in the management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), providing effective tumor control and functional preservation. Hypoxia is a cause of radioresistance in HNSCC. We have developed an oxygen saturation endoscopic imaging (OXEI) method to assess real-time tissue oxygenation levels. However, the clinical significance of OXEI in patients with HNSCC receiving RT remains unclear. We evaluated the association between pretreatment tumor oxygen saturation (StO2) quantified by OXEI and clinical outcomes of patients with HNSCC receiving RT. Methods: We prospectively recruited patients with HNSCC scheduled to receive RT at 2 institutions. The primary endpoint was the association between pretreatment tumor StO2 and complete response (CR) rate 8 weeks after completion of RT. Secondary endpoints evaluated the impact of StO2 on 1-year overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) rates after RT initiation. We also evaluated the cumulative incidence of local failure (LF). To explore the relationship between tumor hypoxia assessed by OXEI and gene expression profile, we performed RNA sequencing of 4 tumor samples collected from 2 patients (2 samples/patient) before RT. The hypoxia score for each sample was calculated by gene set variation analysis based on HNSCC mRNA-based hypoxia signatures. We performed gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) to evaluate whether the biological pathways (Hallmark, Reactome, and KEGG gene sets) showed significant associations with tumor hypoxia. Results: Of the 50 patients enrolled from March 2019 to February 2022, we analyzed 37 who underwent RT and OXEI. Thirty-six (97%) patients received current platinum-based chemotherapy. The median (range) pretreatment tumor StO2 of 60 (45-84)% was lower than that of normal mucosa, 66 (56-84)% (P &lt; 0.01). Patients with tumor StO2 &lt; 60% were classified as the hypoxia group (n =19), and those with tumor StO2 ≥ 60% as the non-hypoxia group (n =18). The CR rate 8 weeks after RT was not significantly different between the hypoxia and non-hypoxia groups (84% vs. 100%, respectively; P = 0.23). After a median (range) follow-up of 33 (9-45) months, the hypoxia group had worse 1-year PFS (74% vs. 94%, P = 0.017) and OS (89% vs. 100%, P = 0.015) and higher LF rates (21% vs. 6%, P = 0.036) compared with the non-hypoxia group. RNA sequencing confirmed that tumor StO2 reflected expression-based hypoxia scores. GSEA showed upregulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and KEAP1-NFE2L2 pathways in hypoxic samples (StO2 of 59%) compared with non-hypoxic samples (StO2 of 70%; adjusted P &lt; 0.01), consistent with the fact that hypoxic stress increases ROS production. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that pretreatment tumor StO2 quantified by OXEI correlates with 1-year PFS, OS, and LF rates of patients with HNSCC receiving RT. Dalam penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai Undang-Undang Cipta Kerja Klaster Ketenagakerjaan dimana tujuan pemerintah adalah untuk meningkatkan perlindungan dan kesejahteraan pekerja dengan menciptakan lapangan kerja yang dilakukan melalui perubahan Undang-Undang sektor yang belum mendukung terwujudnya sinkronisasi dalam menjamin percepatan cipta kerja. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis urgensi pengesahan Undang-Undang Cipta Kerja dan menganalisis alasan Undang-Undang Cipta Kerja yang mempunyai tujuan memberikan perlindungan dan kesejahteraan pekerja justru mendapat penolakan dari para pekerja dan serikat pekerja. Metode penelitian yang penulis gunakan adalah penelitian hukum normatif. Tujuan disahkannya UU Cipta Kerja yaitu untuk memicu pertumbuhan investasi perlu dan perbaikan kualitas angkatan kerja, termasuk menginklusi para pekerja informal yang selama ini belum terakomodasi dalam UU No 13/2003. Karena itu, aspek ketenagakerjaan yang semestinya diatur di dalam UUCK adalah aspek pengembangan kualitas angkatan kerja, bukan menyangkut hak-hak pekerja, dengan tujuan menjadikan kualitas tenaga kerja sebagai daya tarik investasi. Kata kunci : Cipta Kerja; Perlindungan; Kesejahteraan; Pekerja Abstract This study examines the Employment Cluster Job Creation Law where the government's goal is to increase the protection and welfare of workers by creating jobs through changes in sector laws that have not supported the realisation of synchronisation in ensuring the acceleration of job creation. The purpose of this study is to analyse the urgency of passing the Job Creation Law and to analyse the reasons why the Job Creation Law, which aims to provide protection and welfare for workers, has been rejected by workers and trade unions. The research method that the author uses is normative legal research. The purpose of the Job Creation Law is to trigger necessary investment growth and improve the quality of the labour force, including including informal workers who have not been accommodated in Law No. 13/2003. Therefore, the aspect of labour that should be regulated in the UUCK is the aspect of developing the quality of the workforce, not concerning workers' rights, with the aim of making the quality of the workforce an investment attraction. ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the bisphenol release of different brands of clear aligner materials. Materials and Methods Six different clear aligner materials were used in this study: Duran (Scheu-Dental GmbH, Iserlohn, Germany), Zendura Flx (Bay Materials LLC, Fremont, CA, USA), Zendura A (Bay Materials), Essix (Raintree Essix Inc., Metairie, LA, USA), Taglus Premium (Laxmi Dental Export Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai, India), and Smart Track (Align Technology, San Jose, CA, USA). The samples were kept in saline solution for 8 weeks in airtight test tubes at 37°C. The ratio between the weights of the samples and the volumes of the dilutions was prepared as 0.1 g/mL as suggested by International Standards Organization parameters. To evaluate the bisphenol release of materials, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry analysis was performed. Data were analyzed with the Kruskal-Wallis test (α = 0.05). Results Bisphenol A (BPA) values in Smart Track were found to be significantly higher than the Zendura A and Zendura Flx groups (P = .02, P = .03, respectively). There was no statistically significant difference among the samples in terms of Bisphenol F (BPF) values (P = .108). In terms of Bisphenol S (BPS) values, a statistically significant difference was found (P = .002) indicating that Smart Track released significantly more BPS than Zendura A (P = .001). Conclusions Under the test conditions, the amounts of leached BPA, BPF, and BPS were less than the reference dose for daily intake. However, the cumulative effect of these appliances should not be underestimated.

Abstract Objectives To investigate the effects of material type and thickness on force generation and distribution by aligners. Materials and methods Sixty aligners were divided into six groups (n = 10): one group with a thickness of 0.89 mm using Zendura Viva (Multi-layer), four groups with a thickness of 0.75 mm using Zendura FLX (Multi-layer), CA Pro (Multi-layer), Zendura (Single-layer), and Duran (Single-layer) sheets, and one group with a thickness of 0.50 mm using Duran sheets. Force measurements were conducted using Fuji® pressure-sensitive films. Results The lowest force values, both active and passive, were recorded for the multi-layered sheets: CA Pro (83.1 N, 50.5 N), Zendura FLX (88.9 N, 60.7 N), and Zendura Viva (92.5 N, 68.5 N). Conversely, the highest values were recorded for the single-layered sheets: Duran (131.9 N, 71.8 N) and Zendura (149.7 N, 89.8 N). The highest force was recorded at the middle third of the aligner, followed by the incisal third, and then the cervical third. The net force between the incisal and cervical thirds (FI-FC) showed insignificant difference across different materials. However, when comparing the incisal and middle thirds, the net force (FI-FM) was higher with single-layered materials. Both overall force and net force (FI-FM) were significantly higher with 0.75 mm compared to those with a thickness of 0.50 mm. Conclusions Multi-layered aligner materials exert lower forces compared to their single-layered counterparts. Additionally, increased thickness in aligners results in enhanced retention and greater force generation. For effective bodily tooth movement, thicker and single-layered rigid materials are preferred. Clinical relevance This research provides valuable insights into the biomechanics of orthodontic aligners, which could have significant clinical implications for orthodontists. Orthodontists might use this information to more effectively tailor aligner treatments, considering the specific tooth movement required for each individual patient. In light of these findings, an exchangeable protocol for aligner treatment is suggested, which however needs to be proven clinically. This protocol proposes alternating between multi-layered and single-layered materials within the same treatment phase. This strategy is suggested to optimize treatment outcomes, particularly when planning for a bodily tooth movement.

A total of 50 thermoformed aligners (n = 10) underwent a 48‐hour ageing protocol, which involved mechanical loading resulting from a 0.2 mm facial malalignment of the upper right central incisor (Tooth 11) and thermal ageing through storage in warm distilled water at 37°C. The force exerted on Tooth 11 of a resin model was measured both before and after ageing using pressure‐sensitive films and a biomechanical setup.ResultsBefore ageing, pressure‐sensitive films recorded normal contact forces ranging from 83.1 to 149.7 N, while the biomechanical setup measured resultant forces ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 N, with lingual forces exceeding facial forces. Multi‐layer materials exhibited lower force magnitudes compared to single‐layer materials. After ageing, a significant reduction in force was observed, with some materials experiencing up to a 50% decrease. Notably, multi‐layer materials, especially Zendura VIVA, exhibited lower force decay.ConclusionsThe force generated by aligners is influenced by both the aligner material and the direction of movement. Multi‐layer materials exhibit superior performance compared to single‐layer materials, primarily because of their lower initial force, which enhances patient comfort, and their capability to maintain consistent force application even after undergoing ageing.

Abstract Objective To compare four commercially available Essix-type retainers in terms of longevity, wear characteristics, stiffness and their range of rigidity. Materials and methods An in vitro study was conducted at Queen Mary University of London. Four groups of thermoplastic materials were included: Duran (PETG), Essix C + (Polypropylene), Vivera and Zendura (Polyurethane). A working typodont was fabricated to evaluate surface wear characteristics using a wear machine with a customized jig. Retainers were measured for tensile test, and water absorption was measured at five different time points up to 6 months after initial immersion in two different physical states and two different solutions. Hydrolytic degradation was also evaluated using FTIR spectroscopy. Results Essix C + was the most flexible retainer with Vivera the stiffest material. Zendura and Essix C + had the most surface wear (413 μm ± 80 and 652 μm ± 12, respectively) with absorption rates of up to 15 wt% in artificial saliva occurring with Zendura. Only Essix C + displayed signs of degradation following water absorption. Conclusions All materials had characteristic levels of flexibility and were susceptible to water absorption. Duran 1.5 mm performed similarly to Vivera in relation to stiffness and wear properties. While Zendura and Vivera have similar chemical structures, they exhibited differences concerning wear resistance and water absorption. Further clinical research evaluating the clinical relevance of these laboratory findings is required. Clinical relevance Characteristic patterns of wear and rigidity of four commercially available Essix-type retainers were observed. This information should help in the tailoring of retainer material on a case-by-case basis considering treatment-related factors and patient characteristics including parafunctional habits.

Materials and methods A three-axis force and moment sensor (Aidin Robotics, Anyang, South Korea) was used to measure the forces and moments during extrusion of an upper left central incisor (UL1) and any forces experienced by the upper right central incisor (UR1) using thermoformed aligners and 3D-printed aligners. For the thermoformed aligners, the materials used were ATMOS® (American Orthodontics, Sheboygan, WI) and Zendura FLX® (Bay Materials LLC, Fremont, CA). 3D-printed aligners were fabricated using TC-85 clear photocurable resin (Graphy Inc., Seoul, South Korea). For each material type, three conditions were tested: Group 1: No attachment or pressure columns (control); Group 2: Attachment only; and Group 3: Pressure columns only. Each group was planned for 0.5 mm of extrusion on the UL1. Results All force readings collected demonstrated statistically significant differences when compared by materials and when compared by groups, with a P value of < 0.001. In the absence of attachment or pressure columns (Group 1), ATMOS® and TC-85 groups exerted extrusive force on the UL1. However, significantly lower forces and moments were exerted by the TC-85 group in comparison to the ATMOS® and Zendura FLX® groups. In the presence of attachment (Group 2), all three ATMOS®, Zendura FLX® and TC-85 groups exerted extrusive force on the UL1, with the TA group showing different directions of faciolingual force, mesiodistal force and faciolingual inclination on the UR1 when compared to the other two thermoformed groups. Whereas in the presence of pressure columns (Group 3), only the TC-85 3D-printed aligner group exerted extrusive force. Thermoformed aligners generated significantly higher mean forces and moments than 3D-printed aligners. Significant levels of unintended forces and moments were present in all groups. Conclusions Force levels generated during extrusion with clear aligners are significantly lower with those 3D-printed using TC-85 than with those thermoformed using ATMOS® or Zendura FLX®. Attachments consistently generated extrusive forces, and may be an effective adjunct in achieving extrusion of incisors. Extrusion may be achieved without the use of attachments by utilizing pressure columns in 3D-printed aligners using TC-85. While different strategies can generate extrusive forces, there are significant unintended forces and moments.

Abstract Objective Investigate and compare the mechanical properties of different aligner materials before and after deep drawing and determine differences in the mechanical properties after thermoforming. Materials and methods Four aligner film sheets from three manufacturers (Duran Plus® [Scheu Dental, Iserlohn, Germany]; Zendura® [ClearCorrect, Bay Materials LLC, Fremont, CA, USA]; Essix ACE® and Essix® PLUS™ [Dentsply Sirona Deutschland, Bensheim, Germany]) were tested in 3‑point bending with support distances of 8, 16, and 24 mm. Dimension of the specimens was 10 × 50 mm2. Two groups each were tested: (1) 10 specimens were investigated in the as-received state (before thermoforming), (2) 10 specimens were deep drawn on a master plate with cuboids of the dimension 10 × 10 × 50 mm3. Then, specimens were cut out of the upper side and lateral walls and were measured in 3‑point bending. Forces and reduction in thickness were measured and corrected theoretical forces of drawn sheets after thickness reduction as well as Young’s modulus were calculated. Results At a support distance of 8 mm and a displacement of 0.25 mm Essix® PLUS™, having the highest thickness in untreated state, showed highest forces of 28.2 N, followed by Duran Plus® (27.3 N), Essix ACE® (21.0 N) and Zendura® (19.7 N). Similar results were registered for the other distances (16, 24 mm). Thermoforming drastically reduced thickness and forces in the bending tests. Forces decreased to around 10% or less for specimens cut from the lateral walls. Young’s modulus decreased significantly for deep drawn foil sheets, especially for Essix® PLUS™. Conclusions Three-point bending is an appropriate method to compare different foil sheet materials. Young’s modulus is significantly affected by thermoforming.
