Tipburn (TB) is a physiological disorder that results in necrosis along the margins of lettuce leaves. The disorder is objectionable to consumers and reduces the shelf life of whole and minimally processed lettuce. The objectives were to 1) determine the variation for tipburn resistance in iceberg, romaine, green leaf, and red leaf cultivars; and 2) determine the genotype × location interaction for tipburn resistance. Tipburn incidence was recorded on 10 plants in each of three repetitions in Salinas, Calif., and Yuma, Ariz., trials with 20 iceberg, 21 romaine, 11 green leaf, and six red leaf cultivars. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance type statistics of ranked data. Variation for TB resistance was found in all lettuce types at both locations, although iceberg cultivars (average percentage of TB = 31% Salinas; 77% Yuma) had significantly (P < 0.01) higher levels of resistance at both location than romaine (58% Salinas, 81% Yuma), green leaf (52% Salinas; 88% Yuma), and red leaf (43% Salinas, 89% Yuma). The Yuma, Ariz., trial was more conducive for TB, and had less variation (range of percentage of TB = 33% to 100% Yuma, 0% to 100% Salinas). Four iceberg, one green leaf, and one red leaf genotype with industry acceptable levels of TB (<5%) were identified in the Salinas environment. Genotype × location interaction was present (P < 0.01), and included rank order changes within all lettuce types. The correlation between the locations was low, 0.26, but significant (P = 0.045). A need exists for romaine, green leaf, and red leaf germplasm with improved TB resistance, particularly in the Yuma environment. The presence of variation within each lettuce type and genotype × location indicates that genetic improvement should be possible using within type crosses followed by selection in the Yuma or Salinas target environment.

‘Valencia’ sweet orange is widely cultivated in Colombian tropical lowlands, with low yields and a lack of technology. As a result, nine rootstocks commonly used in tropical zones: ‘C-35’, ‘Carrizo’, ‘Swingle’ citrumelo or CPB 4475, ‘Cleopatra’, ‘Sunki ´ English’, ‘Volkamer’, ‘Webberi’ and ‘Yuma’ were evaluated. The plants were established in 2001 and were evaluated for vegetative growth, fruit yield and quality for 10 years (2004-2013). The obtained results indicated that ‘Sunki × English’ and ‘Volkamer’ were the best rootstocks for fruit yield and the worst was ‘Yuma’. Furthermore, all of the rootstocks, except ‘Yuma’, stabilized their height in the last year. In terms of volume, ‘Amblycarpa’ and ‘Cleopatra’ were the bigger plants and ‘Yuma’ was the smallest. In addition, for yield efficiency, ‘Yuma’ had the best rootstocks, followed by ‘Sunki × English’. All of the rootstocks showed a similar fruit quality, except for ‘Sunki × English’, which obtained the highest total soluble solids/total titratable acids ratio.

Artiklen analyserer kampagnen: ”Leg dig sund”, som er tilrettelagt af Fødevarestyrelsen og Sundhedsstyrelsen. ”Leg dig sund” retter sig mod især udsatte familier og deres vilje, viden og handlekapacitet til at leve sundt. Centrum i artiklen er kampagnens kobling til leg. Hvordan kan det være, at leg står så centralt i kampagnen? Hvad har leg og kampagne med hinanden at gøre? Hvad har sundhed og leg med hinanden at gøre? Et centralt træk ved kampagnen er, at den på én gang vil og ikke vil være en kampagne, på én gang vil og ikke vil være styring. Det hænger sammen med, at den iagttager modstand blandt de udsatte familier både i forhold til styring og i forhold til sundhedsfremme. Samtidigt vil man ikke anerkende familierne som modstandere. Man vil hellere gå uden om modstanden i en erkendelse af, at sundhedsfremme virker bedst, når den ikke ligner en sådan, og styring styrer mest, når den ikke er tilrettelagt som styring. Leg ses her som et alternativ. Artiklen ender i en diskussion af hvilken stat, der kommer til syne i en sådan praksis. Måske er det en tegneseriestat? The Cartoon State in the Making This article analyzes the campaign “Play Yourself Healthy”. The campaign is organized by the Danish Food Agency and the Danish Health Agency and focuses on socially “weak” families in an attempt to influence their will, knowledge and capacity to act in order to live healthy lives. The article concentrates on the link between campaigning and playing. How has play become so important to the campaign? What are the connections between playing and developing campaigns? What are the connections between health and play? The campaign wants to be both a campaign and not a campaign, both steering and not steering. This is because of the resistance among the target families to steering and health promotion. No one wants to identify the families as opponents, however, so the authorities work around their resistance by presuming that health promotion works best if it does not look like promotion, and that steering works best when it is not arranged as such. Play is seen here as an alternative, and the article hopes to foster discussion about the form of the state that emerges in the campaign practices. It offers the hypothesis that the “new state” does not limit itself in the means it uses to govern citizens. After all, why should it protect citizens against playing? This master's thesis deals with possibilities of modifying and extending functionality of Visual Paradigm with plug-ins as well as the study of tools for creating UML diagrams. The primary goal of this thesis is to describe graphical tools and simultaneously, the less known variants of creating UML diagrams. Those are tools that process text UML formats. Special attention is given to text tool PlantUML and to the graphical tool Visual Paradigm. Furthermore, the thesis deals with use of the Visual Paradigm open interface for programmers to create plug-ins. The main output is an implemented plug-in that allows you to convert UML diagrams between Visual Paradigm and text format PlantUML, which was published as open source software. Grammar for the PlantUML language have also been created for this plug-in.

Syftet med examensarbetet var att ta fram en laserskärande hand till ABB:s kollaborativa robot ”YuMi”. Rapporten beskriver tillvägagångssätt, utvecklingsprocess och resultat av arbetet. Målet för projektet var att ta fram en fungerande funktionsprototyp som svarade mot den övergripande problemformuleringen: ”Hur integreras tillräcklig säkerhet i laserhanden så att användaren på ett säkert och riskfritt sett kan använda laserhanden i en kontorsmiljö?”  Detta har uppnåtts genom att med lämpliga test och analyseringsmetoder besvara frågeställningarna: ➢ Hur kan skadliga partiklar avlägsnas från luften vid laserskärning av plast, gummi, skumgummi, kartong och trä? ➢ Hur utformas laserhanden på så sätt att en extern skyddskåpa blir överflödig (för att inte skada ögonen)? ➢ Hur integreras en säkerhetsfunktion som gör att lasern stängs av om laserhanden skulle tilta eller avvika från vertikal distans? Arbetet innefattar konceptgenerering, planering, konstruktion av kåpor och byggande av prototyp. Projektet resulterade i en fungerande funktionsprototyp som uppfyllde största delen av arbetsgivarens krav. Både studenten och företaget är nöjda med resultatet.
The purpose of the thesis was to produce a laser-cutting hand to ABB's collaborative robot "YuMi". The report describes the approaches, development process and results of the work.  The aim of the project was to develop a functional prototype that corresponds to the overall problem formulation: "How to achieve enough security in the laser-hand so it is safe and risk-free for users to use the hand in an office environment?"  This has been achieved by using the appropriate tests and methods of analysis to answer the questions: ➢ How to remove harmful particles from the air during laser cutting of plastic, rubber, foam rubber, cardboard and wood? ➢ How to design an external protective cover encapsulate the tool (laser beam) so it will be redundant to protective glasses (so as not to damage the eyes)? ➢ How to integrate a security feature to force the laser to turn off, if the hand increases the distance or deviate from vertical orientation higher then specified limits? The work includes concept generation, project planning, construction of encapsulation and prototype overall construction. The project resulted in a working prototype that fulfilled most of the requirements. Both the student and the company are satisfied with the result.

Alfalfa irrigation is often withheld as a water conservation measure in Arizona. The objective of this research was to test the hypothesis that alfalfa yield and stand can be permanently damaged by withholding irrigation water. Irrigation was terminated during the summer (July through October) or winter (November through February) on a Superstition sand in Yuma. Summer irrigation termination reduced plant density from 4 to 1.5 plants per square foot and reduced hay yield from 0.76 to 0.27 tons per acre per cutting after irrigation was resumed. Winter irrigation termination had no residual effect on yield or plant density. Termination of alfalfa irrigation can permanently damage stands and reduce yield on sandy soil.

The purpose of this study was to determine if the chloride to bromide ratio (Cl/Br) of water imported via interbasin transfer can be used to trace the mixing of imported water with native ground water. Laboratory experiments and a chemical literature review indicate that chloride's and bromide's properties should make the Cl/Br a useful environmental ground-water tracer. This study has shown that the Cl/Br can be accurately quantified at environmental levels, is not attenuated by aquifer or soil media, is chemically stable, and is present in different levels in waters from different sources. Infiltration and mixing of irrigation water from the Colorado River (Cl/Br = 1300) with native ground water (Cl/Br = 630) was investigated at the Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation and Drainage District near Yuma, Arizona. The downgradient increase in the Cl/Br is correlated with distance from the upgradient limit of irrigation (r =.83), reflecting the chemical influence of infiltrating irrigation water.

Annotation:
Human comfort is significant in human-robot collaboration since it can influence the task efficiency and quality. In this paper, we propose a computational Human Comfort Model (HuCoM) to model and quantify the human comfort during human-robot collaborative manufacturing. Based on the defined primitive comfort rewards and combined comfort rewards, the HuCoM is developed with an incorporation of the static comfort model and the dynamic comfort model. We validate and evaluate the proposed model by several human-robot collaborative tasks via a YuMi robot.
