Annotation:
"Lei Yu (Thunderstorm)" by Cao Yu presents the tragedy of Zhou Gong Guan, a feudal family in the Republican era, by characterizing different personalities, backgrounds and ethical relationships. As a dramatic work of considerable status in modern Chinese literature, "Lei Yu" contains many profound connotations. From its publication in 1934 to the present, "Lei Yu" has profoundly exposed the problems of the feudal family's autocratic and corrupt times through the meticulous and precise portrayal of its many characters' complex relationships and the gradual clarification of its historical past. This work exposes not only the conflicts of the members of the Zhou Gong Guan but also the class disparity and the status of men and women in the era through the class and gender of each member. At present, academic research on "Lei Yu" is very mature, but there is still some room for research on the analysis of the characters' relationship and tragedy of fate in relation to the author's view of fate and the imagery of "Lei Yu". Therefore, this paper will start with the interpretation of Cao Yu's view of fate, analyze the author's view of "the fatalism of gods and ghosts" and "the view of nature and heaven" in the preface, and then analyze the imagery of "Lei Yu" to derive the tragedy of fate. Then, through the analysis of the imagery of this work, the complex family conflicts and the characters' view of fate behind it are derived, and then the characters' characters, experiences and identities are carefully analyzed through both character tragedies and ethical tragedies, revealing the irresistible tragedy of fate in the relationship between the characters of "Lei Yu", which means that all characters in the play have tragedies in character and ethical relationships.

The theme of love in the writer’s work is focused on the relationship between a man and a woman. The work is based on a love story, intertwined with the theme of family. The young happy family of the Nakovs survived the trials of the Great Patriotic War, but it is not the war that destroyed the family, but human envy. The main hero left no chance for a reunion with his beloved. And the faithful heroine transformed the whole range of feelings into a mother’s love. Emotivity of the images, the motif of expectation reinforced the theme of love in the story by Yu. N. Nakova.

This paper examines how the narrative structure and the dream narrative of Guunmong has been transformed into a modern web drama. First, the identity of the narrative structure of Guunmong and the variable nature of the dream narrative was examined. Subsequently, the pattern of the modern variation of Guunmong was reviewed by citing The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family. Finally, the narrative custom of Guunmong was grasped from a literary and historical perspective. The above is summarized as follows. First, the structural identity of Guunmong and the variability of the dream narrative were confirmed. While inheriting the existing tradition of Mong-yu(dream) narrative, Guunmong has made a breakthrough in terms of mass. Meanwhile, the structural identity of Mong-yu novels was established, and the diversity of the dream narrative, a virtual world, could be transformed at any time. This is why Guunmong was able to be reprocessed according to the situation of the times. Second, the relationship between the variations of narrative techniques and The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family was reviewed. The world transformed from deficiency to fulfillment. Guunmong allowed Yang So-yu to satisfy Sung-jin's lack of love in the virtual world, and The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family allowed Yoon Hyun-woo, who was economically deficient, to become Jin Do-jun of the virtual world and live a fulfilling life. Next, the character was transformed from status to capital. In shaping the character, if Guunmong presented a medieval status as a privilege, The youngest son of a chaebol family made a change in presenting modern wealth as a vested interest. Then the character is awakened from the illusion and returned to reality. In Guunmong, Yang So-yu returned as a lonely monk after finishing his secular wealth and honor, while The Youngest Sn of a Chaebol Family transformed Jin Do-jun to return to Yoon Hyun-woo in reality after achieving all the economic things. Finally, through the transformation of fatalism, the future was predicted. If Yang So-yu of Guunmong. followed the trajectory of life according to his given fate, Jin Do-jun of The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family was sent back to the past where Yoon Hyun-woo lived and was able to predict the future. Third, the narrative customs and literary and historical status of Guunmong was examined. Guunmong is a Momg-yu novel that creates a unique structure of reality-virtual-reality and the practice of dealing with various narrative types, which became a custom Due to this, various derivatives could be produced in the late Joseon Dynasty. It can also be useful in modern literature that have fantastic nature. This is because the narrative structure of Guunmong and various dream narratives can be transformed to capture modern problems intensely. Such a work is The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family. Considering this, the narrative custom of Guunmong had a long tradition, and it is also worth paying attention to in terms of literary history that it has developed into video literature.

Annotation:
The purpose of this research was to develop a theoretical understanding of the social phenomenon of the employment of foreign carers for older Taiwanese in households. Foreign carers were introduced into Taiwan in 1992 to address the care needs of the older population. By 2012, over 200,000 foreign caregivers from Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam were providing care in households in Taiwan. There has been little research on the interactions between and experiences of family employers, foreign carers and older persons receiving care. The theoretical framework brought together symbolic interactionist concepts and the social constructionism of Berger and Luckmann. Data collection and analysis were informed by Charmaz‘s formulation of grounded theory. Two focus groups and 54 in-depth interviews with a total of 57 Indonesian and Vietnamese foreign carers, Taiwanese family employers and older persons receiving care were undertaken. The analytical findings of the research reflect the ways in which the foreign carer, older persons receiving care and family employer participants were socially situated within the research context and how their respective social realities were shaped differently by changing social structures and cultural values within a globalising context. (Re)-regulating care was generated as the core category, forming a coherent and overarching framework that integrated the three analytical dimensions of the reality of the social change, resituating roles and struggling for control. The reality of social change refers to the employment of foreign carers as a manifestation of the reshaping of the social worlds of the three groups of participants. Resituating roles reflects the processes that underpin the hierarchical positioning of participants, the resultant asymmetrical power relations and associated interactions. Struggling for control, depicts how each group employed strategies to create space and identities that would sustain a sense of self and autonomy. In the current situation of economic and social change in Taiwan the three participant groups shared a desire for control. The autonomy of the women employers was negotiated through employment of foreign carers; for the foreign carers, a pragmatic decision to work abroad became a means for personal empowerment; and the older persons receiving care regained some authority through relationships with carers.

Lu, Yu-Ying. „The impact of work-family conflict on working women in Taiwan : the effects of organizational support“. Thesis, Queensland University of Technology, 2007. https://eprints.qut.edu.au/16536/1/Yu-Ying_Lu_Thesis.pdf.

Annotation:
A cross-sectional survey was undertaken to examine the impact of organizational support on work-family conflict experienced by Taiwanese working women. A stress model of work and family interference was applied in the Taiwanese context; the current study examined whether the results of western studies of work-family conflict can be generalised to the Taiwanese population. The enactment of the Gender Equality of Employment Law in Taiwan in 2002 was a further impetus for the research. The study examined the effects of organizational family-friendly policies and cultural support of family responsibilities on work-family conflict and well-being. Women (aged between 15 and 64 years) in paid employment working in three public universities in northern Taiwan formed the sample population for this research. Stratified random sampling by occupation was used to enhance representativeness. The total sample consisted of 441 participants, made up of 288 general staff and 153 academic staff. The data was collected with several tested and widely used instruments (including the Family-Friendly Policies Usage and Satisfaction Questionnaires, Work-Family Culture Questionnaire, Work-Family Conflict Scale, Job Satisfaction Questionnaire, Family Satisfaction Questionnaire, Perceived Stress Scale, and Physical Symptoms Inventory). Descriptive analysis was used to examine demographic variables and all the measures; correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships between selected research variables; T-test, chi-square test and one-way ANOVA were used to characterize the differences between groups. Hierarchical multiple regression was performed to test the research hypotheses. The findings showed that work-family conflict was strongly linked with lower job and family satisfaction, greater stress and more severe physical ailments. Implementing family-friendly policies and creating a supportive work environment can help working women to manage their work-family conflict and improve their health outcomes. A supportive organizational culture has been confirmed by this research as important in preventing the negative consequences of work-family conflict. However, such conflict did not predict the levels of physical symptoms. Employer-supported dependant care policies were not associated with the level of work-family conflict. In addition, organizational cultural support did not predict the usage of family-friendly policies. This study has provided evidence that some relationships could be generalised, across western and Chinese societies, between organizational support and work-family conflict, and between work-family conflict and an individual's well-being, although specificities within each cultural remain and require different methods of assessment. In conclusion, a western theoretical model of work-family conflict was found to be acceptable and feasible to implement within the Taiwanese population, since the majority of the hypotheses were supported. This research provided valuable information for healthcare professionals, policy makers and organizations, presenting ways to help working women to manage the conflicting demands of work and family roles better.

I initiated this art project because of the concern that my grandfather passed away and that my family members are scattered all over the country. I conceived the importance of my family’s cohesion and cultural heritage of my hometown. This creation project explored the issue, related to the “Family Memory,” in order to promote family cohesion and highlight the importance of the hometown. Because of the geographical location of my hometown, I also engaged the history of Kinmen in my art works. As for the theme of the creations, I mainly depicted my families’ experiences in the turbulent times, such as their hard-working in farming activities and perseverance attitude toward life. Also, the creation project was divided into following three sections: family and love, food and living culture, and hometown and local history. During the process of creations, I found out, suitable, existent photos and turned them into oil paintings according to conversations that I had with senior and younger members of my family. However, some new pictures were taken, or photomontages were created by using computer software if proper scenes could not be found. This was to make stories and images strengthen, and respond to, each other. Regarding the presentation of ideas in my art works, I used the means of symbolism and metaphor. I expected that this creation project could document and pass down the spirit and stories of my family.

The author of this thesis grew up in a rural farming family. From childhood, she was influenced by the life of her elders, who worked in the cultivation of bamboo agriculture. Often, before it was even light outside, they would welcome the day and begin their work. To look back upon their lives up to this day is an important part of the author recollecting her childhood memories. These memories also bring up emotions that are hard to forget. The author is currently living and studying away from her hometown, and is being pulled away by distance. It is also difficult to return to the physical time and place of her childhood. However, the memories of the love and affection of family remain endless, and in the twisting and complicated road of life, become a source of support and encouragement. This creative treatise uses the author's family as the subject of her artwork. It explores the many facets of memory, and how this transforms into reality. It uses photography as an aid to capture and retain the moments of familial love, in order to jog the memory. It also uses painting to explore the memories of the images in the mind and to record the feelings between family members. It depicts these recollections onto canvas, and shows the author's true feelings and reflections towards these memories. This thesis is structurally split into five different chapters. The first chapter is the background and motivations behind the artwork. Its basis tells of the author's initial ideas and reasons for embarking upon this series. It unfolds with the author's recording and collecting of family memories. The second chapter talks about the author’s collation of materials. It raises the idea of the distinct characteristics and patterns of memories. It tries to understand how familial memories are manifested and the way in which they move the soul. It also provides studies on how other related artists achieve the method of using collaging memories and image viewpoint to discuss and demonstrate the affection between family members. Additionally, it talks about how to portray the rustic life of physical toil as "commonplace" and to reflect upon the meaning of one's own life. The third chapter discusses the form and the techniques behind the artwork. Through putting theories into practice and research, it seeks to orientate itself and to find a direction. At the same time, it delves into the greater possibilities of oil painting. The fourth chapter is an individual analysis of the artwork. The work is split into three series in order to comment and explain its content and viewpoint. It uses the artwork as a vehicle to convey the emotional transformation that familial memories cause for the author. Finally, the last chapter summarizes and concludes the whole thesis.

Ling Yu’s poems are mainly based on history, family and place. Her poems contain many historical events and allusions; therefore, the poems teem with a strong sense of history. Memories of family and affection for land are major topics inher poems as well. The images of family in her poems are highly symbolic. Lately, Ling Yu focuses her attention on the island. These poems explore the relationship between the island and its residents as well as the destiny of the island. Each topic is connected closely in Ling Yu’s anthologies. She presents subtle observation about cities. Then she puts emphasis on history, the value of life and the effects of tradition and modernization. In her recent work, she focuses on hometown, clan and private space. Her anthology in 2010 succeeds the former work, emphasizes pure language and brings up the concept of void. This paper focuses on the connotations conveyed by Ling Yu’s poems through the themes of history, family and island. We can discuss the historical imagery of Ling Yu’s poems and her attitude towards land, family and self by exploring three main imageries—dimension, mirror image and dream. Ling Yu’s poems take historical person as a foundation of inspiration. From this, the poems extend to her hometown and family. She eventually broadens the subject from the place where people live to the connection between the island and the nation. This development of Ling Yu’s poems indicates her original writing purpose. Furthermore, they reveal how the poet interprets history. This paper is presented to analyze the images of Ling Yu’s poems systematically through research.

This essay aims to unfold a working process and the final outcome for ‘The Imprint of My Family’. This project is originated from the assemblage of one’s own sentiments, emotions and experiences in family life; and through transforming those treasurable moments into art works by integrating people, events, and objects, this project reveals an inner impression towards memory and affection. The author explores the discourses on methodology and adopts the fashion of action research, in which praxis and theories are outlined in equal measure, to achieve an improved competence both intellectually and technically. As examining the goals set previously for this project, there are four notable points worth carrying into conclusion. Firstly, while this project is on the theme of home, it requires practices and researches to built up the feeling of warmth and intimacy, and furthermore conveys them through the form of art. Secondly, in order to unravel this essay logically for its working progress, it is helpful to seek for ideas in the fields of methodology on creative practices, philosophy, art theories, and those archives in different art movements. Thirdly, through a project like this, exploring the imprint of one’s own family, the acquisition is not only about an improved skill nor better expression on oil painting but also about establishing a painting style embedded with one’s own personal experiences of life. Last but not least, a richer collaboration of intellect and of insight towards art is generated by reviewing each stage in this project. It broadens one’s horizons on creative production.

Abstract The theme of this study is to explore the relationship among family members of elder veterans whose wives had been hospitalized in Yu-Li Veteran Hospital(YLVH) for long-term disposition. There are three aspects of the elder veterans’ family relationship:(1)their mate-choosing process and the family life before their wives were hospitalized in YLVH ;(2) the changing structure and different meaning of family after their wives had been hospitalized;(3) the marital relationship and parent-child relationship after their wives had been hospitalized for a long period. Method:Life Story. Subjects:they are elder veterans whose wives had been hospitalized in YLVH and whose children are still at school.8 veterans and among whom four veterans’ children were interviewed by author. Findings: 1.There are many barriers in elder veterans’ mate-choosing process. In fact, they were so disadvantageous that their choices were constrained by the frame of military system, the ethno-cultural difference, and personal background. All of these had made their mate-choosing process quite different from the general population. 2.The family life life before their wives were sent to YLVH for long-term disposition was jeopardized by the mental illnesses of their wives in terms of personal career, family stability and sustenance. These unanticipated crises affected deeply the marital relationship, and the roles in house chores and caring for child . 3.After their wives had been disposed in YLVH, the change of family structure, roles and responsibilities was obvious. Loneliness, agony and indifference were elder veterans’ prevailing feelings when they needed to sustain their family alone. Family was usually no more meaningful to them. 4.The marital relationship was characterized by a kind of no-mutual and instrumental dependence of their wives on them. The father-child relationship was associated with the gender of their children and how they took care of their children in the early years. Key words :veterans、mental illnesses、 family relationship

The essay focuses on the dynamic interaction of different spatial topoi in the biography of Yu. M. Lotman. The study bears on Lotman’s letters tohis family between 1940 and 1946 –a time when Lotman was in the army. His interests in the field of science and various national cultures, his cognitive activity were generated by hishighly intellectual family. While serving in the army, Lotman was engaged in self-education and actively absorbed impressions of the foreign culture. The worldview of the young person during the war became the subject of reflection in the works of his later years. Lotman’s letters contain examples of the centrist geographical cultural model he described in 1992: the USSR is the center of the world revolution, while Petersburg and the Hermitage are the center of the “cultural ecumene.”At the same time, the letters reflect an alternative eccentric cultural model. Lotman noted peculiarities of the foreign daily life and interethnic relations and described in detail the impressions of exhibitions and performances in Berlin. Interaction of real and mythological geography determined the evolution of Lotman’s personality and shaped his intellectual and scholarly fields of interest.

Focusing on the theme of Chinese familialism, this chapter recasts the notion of “filiality,” foundational to the familial-kinship system, as a discursive formation, calling attention to the way filiality has been differently maneuvered by different regimes at different historical moments. Foregrounding the strengthened links between filiality and loyalty in the reinforced “family-state” discourse of martial law-era Taiwan, this chapter argues that the family-state discourse is pivotal to what I term the “Chinese queer diasporic imaginary,” symptomatic of the insoluble tension between Chinese tongzhi/queer subjects and their family-based social settings. This Chinese queer diasporic imaginary is expressed through an array of tropes – including niezi, Nezha, AIDS, ghosts, and Chinese/Taiwanese opera – in various queer-themed films, beginning with Outcasts (Yu Kan-ping, 1986).

This chapter discusses how natural disaster (the 2018 Wenchuan earthquake) and the consequent traumatised memories have influenced cinematic representations of Chengdu and its adjacent areas. Feature films and documentaries proliferated after the earthquake, and ruins, heavy loss of life and local survivors’ troubled situations wrought by the disaster have dominated cinematic modern Chengdu. Moreover, with the catastrophic disaster’s ability of erasing physical spaces and producing traumatised experiences and memories, post-earthquake cinematic Chengdu becomes an optimal space for emotional remedy and contemplation on existence. In urban feature Buddha Mountain [Guanyin shan] (Li Yu, 2011), the ruins wrought by the earthquake symbolise the interior wasteland inhabited by film characters, and mirror the disintegration of traditional family units and the consequent psychological vacuum in modern families. Characters in the film are shown as drifters, driven from place to place because of the trend of demolition and construction, and impacted by accidents, mobility and imposed spatial oppression associated with urban spaces.

The recent development of practical methods for the asymmetric preparation of amines has enabled creative approaches to alkaloid construction. Günter Helmchen of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universit ät Heidelberg developed (Synlett 2009, 1413) an iridium catalyst that mediated the enantioselective amination of the allylic carbonate 1 to give 2. Hydroformylation followed by reduction then completed the synthesis of ( S )-nicotine 3. Yian Shi of Colorado State University devised (J. Org. Chem. 2009, 74, 7577) a Pd catalyst for the enantioselective oxidative diamination of terminal alkenes such as 4. The product 6 was readily carried on to (+)-CP-99,994, a potent and selective nonpeptide substance P receptor antagonist. Chan-Mo Yu of Sungkyunkwan University prepared (Synlett 2009, 1498) the alcohol corresponding to the azide 8 by BINOL-catalyzed addition of an allyl stannane to the corresponding aldehyde. Reduction of the azide and subsequent intramolecular condensation with the ketone gave an imine, which was cyclized with Bu3SnF to 9. Oxidative cleavage then delivered (-)-adaline 10. Barry M. Trost of Stanford University developed a family of Pd catalysts for the enantioselective coupling of racemic butadiene monoepoxide 12 with a range of nucleophiles. Pau Bayón and Marta Figueredo of the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona extended (J. Org. Chem. 2009, 74, 6199) that range to include glutarimide 11 and succinimide. The adduct 13 provided the enantiomerically pure core for a total synthesis of (-)-securinine 14, and others of the Securinega alkaloids. Jeffrey Aubé of the University of Kansas prepared (Organic Lett. 2009, 11, 4140) the enantiomerically enriched ketone 15 by the enantioselective hydroboration of norbornadiene, followed by oxidation and alkylation. Intramolecular Schmidt cyclization following the protocol he had developed converted 15 into 16. He then took advantage of the still substantial ring strain of the expanded norbornene to drive ring-opening metathesis, giving, after hydrogenation, the lactam 17. He was able to selectively convert 17 into either 18 or the diastereomer in which the ethyl groups are cis one to another by varying the acid used in the final reductive work-up.

There is a “deep-rooted inequality situation in the Thai economy and society” (Krongkaewa & Kakwanib, 2003). This inequality permeates all aspects of Thai society, highlighting Thailand’s current economic vulnerability as they try to address policies that will support sustainable growth while reducing these inequalities. With growing concern about the digital divide, Thailand is an important and interesting region to study. These concerns have highlighted a widening technology gap causing a “new type of poverty called information poverty” (Marshall, Taylor, & Yu, 2003; UNDP, 1998). There has been very little prior research that has examined the take-up of information technology in this region. Although the digital divide has been the concern of all countries, there are now additional concerns about the information divide, which could increase further the gap between developed and developing countries. Education has been highlighted as an important area of policy focus. However, should developing countries such as Thailand be targeting their education resources towards specific fields that will support research and development into new technologies aimed at reducing the digital and information divide? “Women produce more than half the world’s food and spend most of their income on family welfare and food, but a lack of access to services, education and technologies keeps them uninvolved in the decision-making processes” (Sarker, 2003). Due to this lack of skills or literacy, women are unlikely to be able to directly use or even to understand the importance on information technology (Sarker, 2003). Thailand’s policy commitment to advancing science and technology should be in juxtaposition with higher “educational expenditures, technical training, and building institutions necessary to create a knowledge society” (Wilson III, 2000). This would support the notion that “pro-poor public access policies” would help overcome some of the educational and access barriers, as long as they were developed with “effective regulatory mechanisms” (Sarker, 2003). This research incorporates an analysis of educational trends within 31 non-agricultural Thai businesses in Chiang Mai, with a collective total number of employees of over 3,000, that were subjects of a pilot study conducted in the north of Thailand. This article considers the educational trends of employees in these businesses, which may support electronic enablement and digital divide reduction.

In this study, seven drag models are examined to determine how they affect fluidization behavior of Geldart A particles of biomass and coal. Notwithstanding the notable number of numerical studies to find the best drag model for larger particles, there is a dearth of information related to drag models for finer Geldart A particles. Additionally, to our knowledge, these drag models have not been tested with a binary mixture of Geldart A particles. Computational fluid dynamics was used to model the gas and solid phases in an Eulerian-Eulerain approach to simulate the particle-particle interactions of coal-biomass mixtures and compare the predictions with experimental data. In spite of the previous findings that bode badly for using predominately Geldart B drag models for fine particles, the results of our study reveal that if static regions of mass in the fluidized beds are considered, these drag models work well with Geldart A particles. It was found that the seven drag models could be divided into two categories based on their performance. One category included the Gidaspow family of drag models (Gidaspow, Gidaspow-Blend, and Wen-Yu) and the Syamlal-O’Brien drag model; these models closely predicted the experiments for single solids phase fluidization. For binary mixtures, however, the other drag model group (BVK, HYS, Koch and Hill) yielded better predictions.

The relevance of the topic is caused by the growth of non-suicidal self-injury behavior (NSSI) of young people in Russia (7.5-46.5% according to E.Lyubov, P.Zotov, G.Bannikova, 2019) against the backdrop of growing multifaceted stress. At the regional conference of the Samara region (April 2022), they talked about an even sharper increase in NSSI over the past 2 years. In my experience, there are different nosological groups of Russian patients aged 17-21. Among the reasons for self-harm, they noted: self-doubt, uncertainty about the future, changes in spiritual values, social pessimism, lack of informal support, including with apparent family well-being. For the past 5 years, I have used the TTSB (M. Burno M., Therapy with creative self-expression, 2012) method to help with NSSI, including taking into account the experience of using TTSB for NSP (O. Levkovskaya, Yu. Shevchenko, 2017). For example, I selected 18 patients: 7 boys and 11 girls who managed to be helped by the TTSB method with a greater or lesser degree of effectiveness; the duration of treatment ranged from 6 months up to 2 years with maintaining psychotherapeutic contact with the patient and family members at the end of treatment. Individual and group therapy was used (T. Gogolevich, Psychotherapy of Psychopathies, 2015) with conversations about characters, self-knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of one's own character through creativity. Conversations were held with elements of TTSB with the patient's environment (relatives, friends). In the example of A., 19 years old, we observe a creative search for the bright meaning of life with a gradual departure from the NSSI with a switch to keeping a diary, creative photography, creating creative works (painting), full-fledged communication, searching for oneself in studies and science.
