Media environment, emerged from the traditional system of mass communications and enriched with new opportunities for the community, is intensively developing in the modern society. Scientists’ research shows that media defines modern existence, consciousness and values of anindividual and social groups. Media environment acts as the place of human existence and means of influencing his consciousness. The author characterizes the media environment as the social space for the library institution, reveals the possibilities of the public library as the leader of public opinion and identifies technological features of introducing information influence into the library media communications. With the development of the Internet technologies, mass communication has become open and accessible to the library community. Modern library simultaneously acts as an active user ofmedia content and as an actor creating its own media products for a wide audience. However, these opportunities are mainly used for internal purposes: to reflect the life of the institution and to disclose its information resources. The article justifies the possibility of strengthening the social position of the library by assuming the role of the local community information leader. The author comes to the conclusion, that social effectiveness of the library actor behavior in the media environment will be determined by two factors: the correspondence of the communication product to social demands and the power of information influence of the message and social consequences (actions).

Accurate metabolite identification remains one of the primary challenges in a metabolomics study. A reliable chemical spectral library increases the confidence in annotation, and the availability of raw and annotated data in public databases facilitates the transfer of Liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC–MS) methods across laboratories. Here, we illustrate how the combination of MS2 spectra, accurate mass, and retention time can improve the confidence of annotation and provide techniques to create a reliable library for all ion fragmentation (AIF) data with a focus on the characterization of the retention time. The resulting spectral library incorporates information on adducts and in-source fragmentation in AIF data, while noise peaks are effectively minimized through multiple deconvolution processes. We also report the development of the Mass Spectral LIbrary MAnager (MS-LIMA) tool to accelerate library sharing and transfer across laboratories. This library construction strategy improves the confidence in annotation for AIF data in LC–MS-based metabolomics and will facilitate the sharing of retention time and mass spectral data in the metabolomics community.

In order to realize the online sharing of massive resources and capitals in public libraries under the circumstances of network environment and cultural construction, it is desirable to invent new sharing policies. In this paper, we put forward a method of online sharing of massive resources in public libraries which is established on cloud computing. Cloud computing technique is implemented to collect the statistical information characteristics of public library’s massive resources under the condition of network environment and culture construction, and an adaptive fusion clustering processing model of public library’s massive resources under the condition of network environment and culture construction is constructed. Moreover, the correlation statistical feature detection approach is used to accomplish fuzzy scheduling and feature mining of public library’s massive resources under the condition of network environment and culture construction. The information storage center management database of public library’s massive resources under the condition of network environment and culture construction is established. The fuzzy C-means clustering approach is implemented in the database to cluster the massive resources of public library under the condition of network environment and culture construction. Combined with cloud computing technology, the sharing and classified management scheduling of massive resources of public library under the condition of network environment and culture construction are comprehended. The simulation outcomes confirm that the adaptive performance of public library’s massive resource sharing management under the condition of network environment and culture construction is better, and the adaptive scheduling performance of resources is better. The data clustering of public library’s massive resources under the condition of network environment and culture construction is stronger, which improves the online sharing level of public library’s massive resources under the condition of network environment and culture construction.

Significant changes in the library network development of Tambov region have occurred as a result of reforming the administrative-territorial division. The counties and townships abolition has led to a change of the libraries typology. The Central Provincial Library was first transformed into the Central District Library (before 1934), then - into the Central Municipal one (until 1937), and, finally, to the Regional one (in 1937). A specific feature of the period under review was opening a central library in each district (with a network of mobile libraries), as well as the organizing stationary libraries at enterprises and large state- and collective-farms. Urban population was mostly served by a network of trade union libraries, rural inhabitants - by a library network of the People's Commissariat of Education. In 1940 the number of public libraries in Tambov region reached 552, including 453 ones in the countryside. The network of public (mass) libraries included the following libraries: state district ones - 42, state municipal ones - 4, state rural ones - 102, state children ones - 7, village state public library and reading rooms - 158, public libraries at the regional culture houses and other club facilities - 12, collective-farm ones - 56, trade union ones - 131, public libraries of other agencies and organizations - 27. Strengthening ideological pressure on library services resulted in the tightening of censorship, mass withdrawal of the ideologically harmful literature. Collections of seized books marked «do not give masses» were created in the libraries as special funds. New editions entered the region in a limited number. In general, in the 1930s the book composition in the library stocks of Tambov region is characterized by the following data by branches of knowledge: anti-religious literature was 2,2%, social studies - 19,5%, natural science - 4,6%, applied sciences - 6,2%, agriculture - 5,1%, history and geography - 6,5%, fiction - 28,7%, others - 27,2%. The total library fund had not enough fiction and books on natural history, book sections on technology and agriculture needed accession. By the beginning of 1941 the amount of the public libraries fund in Tambov region was totaled 843,948 copies. To improve significantly the level of library service the nation-wide measures have been taken, among them were the following: Library Campaign, All-Union Library Census, All-Union competition for the best area on performing the librarianship in the countryside. They were aimed at drawing public attention to the serious problems existed in the librarianship. However, the Library Campaign was not properly developed in Tambov region. Scanty funding, general unpreparedness, inadequate qualifications of librarians and other factors affected negatively to achieve this goal.

The author gives the historical experience of creating such libraries in the region, concentrates herself on their future and compares it with the open of modern “public” and “folk” libraries. The aim of the study is to conceptualize this phenomenon as the process of the transformation of the “public” libraries, or as a new form of the library space organization in the region. Basing on the research results there arises a question, related to the need for creation and existence of such libraries. The conclusion is as follows. It is possible to change the library services organization in public libraries, via, e.g., the creation of reading rooms with free access to the certain parts of library collection without registration as a reader, the opening of outof-station service points in convenient places for people, the organization of bookcrossing. For further investigating the demand for the “public’, ‘folk” and street libraries it is necessary to conduct a population survey, as well as to study the quality of the library and information services of the libraries of the Republic of Tyva.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight mass spectrometry is an analytical method that detects macromolecules that can be used for proteomic fingerprinting and taxonomic identification in arthropods. The conventional MALDI approach uses fresh laboratory-reared arthropod specimens to build a reference mass spectra library with high-quality standards required to achieve reliable identification. However, this may not be possible to accomplish in some arthropod groups that are difficult to rear under laboratory conditions, or for which only alcohol preserved samples are available. Here, we generated MALDI mass spectra of highly abundant proteins from the legs of 18 Neotropical species of adult field-collected hard ticks, several of which had not been analyzed by mass spectrometry before. We then used their mass spectra as fingerprints to identify each tick species by applying machine learning and pattern recognition algorithms that combined unsupervised and supervised clustering approaches. Both Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) classification algorithms were able to identify spectra from different tick species, with LDA achieving the best performance when applied to field-collected specimens that did have an existing entry in a reference library of arthropod protein spectra. These findings contribute to the growing literature that ascertains mass spectrometry as a rapid and effective method to complement other well-established techniques for taxonomic identification of disease vectors, which is the first step to predict and manage arthropod-borne pathogens.

Oxford, Bodleian Library, Junius 27 (S.C. 5139), the Junius Psalter, was written, Latin text and Old English gloss, probably at Winchester and presumably during the reign of King Edward the Elder. Junius 27 is one of the twenty-nine complete or almost complete psalters written or owned in Anglo-Saxon England which have survived. (In addition to these twenty-nine complete psalters, eight minor fragments of further psalters are still extant.) This substantial number of surviving manuscripts and fragments is explained by the paramount importance of the psalms in the liturgy of the Christian church, both in mass and especially in Office. Junius 27 is also one of the ten psalters from Anglo-Saxon England bearing an interlinear Old English gloss to the entire psalter. (In addition there are two psalters with a substantial amount of glossing in Old English, though not full interlinear versions.) Since our concern in the first part of this article will be with the nature of the Old English glossing in the Junius Psalter, and its relationship to other glossed psalters, it is appropriate at the outset to provide a list of the psalters in question. At the beginning of each of the following items I give the siglum and the name by which the individual psalters are traditionally referred to by psalter scholars. An asterisk indicates that the Latin text is a Psalterium Romanum (the version in almost universal use in England before the Benedictine reform); unmarked manuscripts contain the Psalterium Gallicanum. For full descriptions of the manuscripts, see N. R. Ker, Catalogue of Manuscripts Containing Anglo-Saxon.

This article reviews the transformation of book culture in the context of activity of modern libraries, as well as the impact of government cultural policy upon this phenomenon. Special attention is given to the changes in the activity of libraries within the framework of national project “Culture” and model standard of the activity of public libraries. In The author underlines the transformation of the phenomenon of library, and the result of these processes reflected in blurring the distinctions between the upmarket and mass, and turning the audience into mass “consumer”. In the course of this research, the author applies functional analysis, dialectical method, and comparative analysis for consideration of the functions of modern library in relation to the historically first forms of their activity. The novelty consists in systemic and nonlinear analysis of the process of transformation of libraries, taking into account incoherence of this process. Emphasis is placed on the transformation of library as a cultural phenomenon, its essence, which leads to the vague understanding of the concept of library, and thus, result, loss of its uniqueness and dysfunction as a sociocultural institution.

The reporting of digital mass media vulgarly always sides with the interests. Is it siding directly, or is it in framing? Television shows and newspaper reports have become the public's 'breakfast'. The media increasingly determines the cognitive menu of people's everyday thoughts which are convincingly lulled that that is the most authentic. This article discusses the role of social media as a digital public space for Indonesian people's cognition. Using library research and critical and comparative analysis, this study aims to capture the primary ideas about media and political education in Indonesia within the theoretical framework of Jurgen Habermas' Public Sphere. This paper concludes that digital media plays a significant role in shaping the way of thinking of the public which tends to be co-opted to political power and capital owners. This way of thinking then forms a mass culture that is prone to authoritarianism. The findings of this research also serve as a warning to stakeholders who must be more vigilant in anticipating the globalization of digital media which can change the face of political education and the future of our democracy. The paper describes new European initiatives in copyright regulation, particularly those that exert influence on information market and the work of libraries and other cultural heritage institutions as well as educational establishments. New European directive on copyright officially called The Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market allows for broader use of in-copyright material online and across borders within the European Union for the purpose of education, research and cultural heritage preservation. The Directive simplifies digitization and distribution of out-of-commerce works and gives legal certainty to online use of copies of works of art that are in the public domain. One of the Directive articles gives libraries, archives and museums the right to make digital copies of copyright-protected works in their collections but exclusively for preservation purpose and to the extent necessary for preservation. These important reforms incorporate copyright limitations and exceptions in European legislation and open the way to mass digitization projects in European libraries. In Technische Universität Darmstadt v. Eugen Ulmer KG, the Court of Justice of the European Union (ECJ or Court) addressed several important copyright issues stemming from a practice that continues to confound many legal practitioners and adjudicators: the mass digitization of library collections. The judgment adds to an emerging body of jurisprudence decided in the context of a trend toward greater digitization that could ultimately facilitate the development of a global, digital library. To date, the jurisprudence has largely been formed by cases challenging mass digitization that are percolating through the United States courts and have attracted international attention and criticism. The ECJ decision thus provides an important point of reference for evaluating how different jurisdictions balance the rights of authors against the public interest, as served by relevant fair use exceptions consistent with their international obligations under traditional copyright treaties, the 1996 WIPO Copyright Treaty, and the 1994 Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs) applicable to all WTO member states.

Objective – Analysis and discussion of attitudes of U.K. citizens toward the architecture and design of the country’s public libraries. Design – Content analysis of essays submitted to the U.K. Mass Observation Archive (MOA). Setting – Citizens of the United Kingdom. Subjects – 180 respondents from a panel of 500 Mass Observation Archive (MOA) volunteers. Methods – The MOA originated in the 1930s as a way to gather qualitative evidence regarding everyday life of the British public. Most of the data gathered takes the form of variable length essays written by a panel of 500 anonymous volunteers. The volunteers respond to specific directives, and in this article, Black summarized responses to a directive he originally posed to the 500 volunteers in 2005: ‘Public Library Buildings’. Black issued this particular directive to the panel of volunteers in the autumn of 2005 and results were made available to the public by mid-2006.The MOA received a total of 180 responses, of which 121 were from women and 59 were from men. Both users of libraries and non-users were included in the sample. The respondents were not a representative sample of the British public because men, ethnic minorities, lower socio-economic groups, and those living outside of the South of England were underrepresented. The author analyzed the content of the 180 submitted essays to gain insight on attitudes regarding public library design and architecture. Respondents were asked about public library location, environmental fit, architectural style, sensory aspects of the building, and whether or not the building resembled other types of public buildings. Although he posed several questions, Black focused on answers to three questions: what do you think about the design of modern library buildings? Do you prefer them to older style buildings? Have you seen older libraries renovated into more modern libraries, and what do you think of them? Black then analyzed the responses and grouped them into four major attitudes toward the architecture and design of public libraries. The author chose not to code any of the responses and instead chose to analyze the ‘discourse’ in and not necessarily the ‘content’ of the essays. After analyzing the discourse, Black contextualized the evidence he discovered. He then discussed political and cultural issues with relation to the four major attitudes and how these issues affected the current landscape of libraries. Main Results – The four major categories derived from the essays that Black analyzed included: preference for the new; preference for the old; preference for a mixing of the old and the new; architectural indifference, the library as ‘place’ and the concept of ‘libraryness.’ Those with a preference for the new preferred the newer, more modern building because it fit better within the world of information technology. These respondents also felt that the older buildings were too intimidating and cold. Those who preferred the older architecture and design felt that the buildings allowed them to access a piece of the past, and they thought an older library to be more impressive, historic, and generally have more elaborate and interesting architecture. These respondents pointed out the fewer places to hide in new libraries, and indicated that new architecture is boring and stolid. The third group of respondents preferred an older exterior, but an up-to-date interior with a more modern infrastructure. They enjoyed the large impressive buildings but liked the interior to contain comfortable, modern furniture, good lighting, as well as updated technological tools. Finally, the remaining group of respondents did not place importance on the physical space of a library, but more so the services and collections within the physical space. Conclusion – The discourse derived from the MOA and analyzed in Black’s article summarizes the attitudes and preferences that citizens of the UK have regarding public library architecture. Among the 180 responses to the ‘Public Library Buildings’ directive, there is a clear tension in these attitudes and preferences. The information gathered in the MOA directive on public libraries could also provide political and cultural leaders with evidence of a need for renewal or rethinking of the country’s public libraries.

Gender representation portrayed in popular mass media is known to reflect and reinforce societal gender stereotypes. This research uses two methods of natural language processing–Word2Vec and bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (BERT) model–to analyze gender representation in popular fiction and quantify gender bias with gender bias score. Word2Vec, which represents the words in vectorized format, can capture implicit human gender bias with the geometry relationship between word vectors. BERT, a newer pre-trained deep learning model, is specialized in understanding words in the larger context it appears in. The research will compare the results obtained from Word2Vec and BERT. With book check out records from the Seattle Public Library checkout dataset–an ongoing open source dataset from the public library system of Seattle, WA–the research aims to identify evolutionary trends of gender bias in popular fiction and analyze consumer preferences regarding gender representation.

Abstract We believe that analysing pooled urine samples for recreational drugs used at mass events can provide useful information about trends in drug use. An opportunity arose with the Ultra Europe music festival, which is attended by more than 150,000 people from over 150 countries every year. We analysed 30 pooled urine samples collected from portable chemical toilets located at or close to the Ultra Europe music festival venue in Split, Croatia in 2016–2018 to detect the presence of classic and new psychoactive substances (NPS). Four urine samples collected in 2016 were from a toilet without added chemicals (otherwise used to kill the smell) while the remaining samples were collected from toilets with added chemicals. Samples were qualitatively analysed with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) using the full-scan mode. Data were compared with the Wiley mass spectral library of designer drugs and our in-house library containing about 1000 compounds and metabolites. We identified forty-six different substances and metabolites, 26 of which were classic substances/metabolites, mostly from the stimulants group, while 20 were NPS. In the NPS group, most of them were phenethylamines and cathinones. The variety of substances was the highest on the first day of the festival regardless of the year, but 2018 showed a significant drop compared to the previous two years. The results of our study revealed a stable trend of classic drug consumption, while NPS trend changed from one year to another.

AbstractObservations in the Chandra Deep Field South (CDFS) have provided us with a useful set of data in the optical (COMBO-17), near-infrared (GOODS JHK), and mid-infrared (GOODS IRAC bands 1,2) wavelength regimes to test and improve a new spectral galaxy template library, designed to operate in the rest-frame wavelength range between 0.1 and 5 microns. In this range the stellar continuum and emission lines from HII regions dominate the Spectral Energy Distribution (SED) of galaxies. The new library is based on a self-consistent two-burst model, that has been developed in order to reproduce the star formation histories of different types of galaxies more accurately than single-burst histories and thus provides a better match to real galaxy spectra, as well as more reliable mass-to-light ratios. The spectral library is built by using a population synthesis code (PEGASE) assuming a Kroupa (2003) initial mass function. An old burst of exponentially decaying star formation with an initial metallicity of 0.1 solar is followed by a very recent (60 Myr old) second burst in order to reproduce the spectra of actively star forming blue galaxies. In addition, the templates include dust extinction of various strengths. For the multi-color classification the spectral library is red-shifted between z + 0 and z + 2.5 and converted into the 21 colors which have been observed by COMBO-17 plus its near- and mid-infrared extensions provided by the public GOODS data.

The formation of the library system in India occurred during the complex colonial and post-colonial periods of its history. It took place in the conditions of underdevelopment, the uneven social, political and cultural development of the regions, ethnolinguistic disunity, and mass illiteracy of the population, dominating in the society of caste, religious and gender prejudices. The article demonstrates that public libraries in India, beginning with their appearance in the first half of the 19th century, had a special mission. They were considered not only as repositories of books, but, first of all, as centers of education, aimed to spread the knowledge, fight with ignorance by introducing to the reading, to raise the cultural and intellectual level of Indian society, thereby contributing to its prosperity. The article describes the main stages and directions of state policy of India in the field of librarianship from the early nineteenth to the late twentieth century, recounts the history of the founding of the National library, emphasized the role of Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation. Identification of the chemical composition of snow samples, drinking water, and blood in the population residing in the fall areas of the separated rocket vehicle parts in the Republic of Altai.Material and methods. Identification of the chemical composition has been performed along with the quantitative determination of the content of N-nitrosamines in blood samples (n=50) in n the population who constantly live near to the fall areas of the separated rocket vehicles, as well snow samples (n=7), and drinking water (n=9). The samples were examined by a hybrid method using an Agilent gas chromatograph with a quadrupole mass spectrometric detector. In order to decrypt the results of the mass spectrometric analysis, we used the NIST Mass Spectrometry Data Library 08.L, WILEY275.L, PMW_TOX2.L., libraries of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, narcotic, herbal, toxic and contaminated substances. The quantitative determination of N-nitrosamines in the blood samples was performed by the method of chromatography-mass spectrometry.Results. During the library search, 94% of the studied blood samples in the population registered substances that can be identified as unsymmetric dimethylhydrazine and 6% of the samples contain its decomposition product N-nitrosodimethylamine. However, the probability of categorizing these impurities to the desired substances was of 4-26%. In the blood samples of residents in whom there were identified asymmetric dimethylhydrazine and N-NDMA by quantitative chromatography-mass spectrometric analysis, the tag (Alt+2) N-nitrosodimethylamine and N-nitrosodiethylamine was found in the concentration range of 0.00095-0.346 mg/dm3. In 100% of the studied drinking water samples, residual amounts of asymmetric dimethylhydrazine were identified with a low probability of matching the library mass spectrum of 12-33%.Conclusion. The conducted chromatography-mass spectrometry studies of snow samples, samples of the water, and blood of the population living near to the fall area of the separated rocket vehicle parts in the Republic of Altai allowed establishing the signs of residual quantities of dimethylhydrazine and N-nitrozodimethylamine.

One of the strategies to mitigate these losses, in elderly, there is resistance training (RT) as an alternative, and association with creatine supplementation has been used. The effects of creatine supplementation in intermittent activities, such as sports, especially in strength and resistance training, are well described, but with divergent results regarding the mechanism of benefit. The search was restricted to articles published between 2012 and 2022, in all languages available in Pubmed, Science Direct, Cochrane Library, Scielo and LILACS databases. It was found that creatine supplementation in elderly people increases strength and muscle mass gain, resulting in a better quality of muscle function, and consequently of life, for the public studied.

As part of the interaction between science and society, representatives of the scientific environment create information content, the dissemination of which becomes the task of social institutions, including libraries. The article deeply analyzes part of the results of a survey of readers of public libraries concerning the possibility of the latter’s participation in the communication of science and society in any possible form. The material for the study was a questionnaire survey on the attitude of readers of public libraries to science, conducted in March – April 2022 within the framework of the research project “The current state and trends in the development of communications between Russian science and society”. The opinion of readers of Novosibirsk public libraries is studied, concerning priority ways of obtaining information about scientific achievements, attending popular scientific events and opportunities for access to modern scientific knowledge through the library, while considerable attention is paid to mass events as a form of interaction of communicators in the field of science with society. The following conclusions were made in the study: readers of public libraries are loyal to the potential of libraries for the development of communication between science and society; for them, the library as a means of obtaining information is second after Internet in importance; the library can be considered as one of the platforms for visiting popular science events, and its efforts to strengthen communication links between science and society. They should be aimed at more active cooperation with representatives of the scientific world.

The article, based mainly on archival documents, considers the process of organizing the work of libraries in districts of the Orel province in the 1920s. Everywhere in towns and villages of the province, there were opened mass public peoples libraries, were created cultural and educational centres, village libraries and reading rooms, clubs, people’s houses and other cultural and educational institutions of new type. The author notes that during that period a lot of work was done in Oryol province to unite libraries into a single network. The article shows that the main “cell” of library network in the village becomes the volost library. Village libraries and reading rooms created in each locality were “the primary focus of cultural and educational work”.Special attention is paid to the study of forms and methods of library services to the population in the volost libraries and village libraries and reading rooms in the 1920s. The political and educational activities of the volost libraries and village libraries and reading rooms were very diverse in the studied period. Taking into account the high level of illiteracy of the population of Oryol villages, libraries preferred active forms of “living word and work with a book”: loud reading, conversation, agitation staging, drama club, illustrative evening, etc. The author notes that special attention was paid to the organization of work with children in the volost library. It is important to understand that along with the common cultural development of the rural population, active propaganda work was carried out in order to solve the current political problems. The 1920s is a separate period of library history, which is interesting for understanding by the modern Russian library science. The author concludes that this material expands and complements the existing understanding in regional library science of the librarianship of the Oryol province of the post-revolutionary decade, proves its stabilizing nature, which laid the basis for mass library construction in the following decades.

The article examines the potential of the library as a possible active participant in the interaction of science and society. The situation with the library nowadays can be described as the search for its new niche in the readers’ space. The purpose of the article is to analyze the possibilities of libraries for the development of communications between science and society. The first part of the article presents the history and analysis of the modern participation of libraries in the communication of science and society, the second part analyses the potential of libraries in this process. The authors come to the following conclusion: libraries can become one of the conditions for rational communication between science and society, which should act not only in the usual system of documentary communication, but also in the system of data communication, interpersonal communication. Libraries should expand their role in the society: to be an intermediary and serve not only “scientist to scientist” communication, but also “scientist to the society” communication. The study showed that various forms both one-time and repetitive mass events of a popular scientific nature have not yet become systemic. The practice of libraries’ participation in other facets of communication between science and society (increasing public understanding of science; involving the public in science) is not yet visible at all. The weak influence of libraries on the development of communications between science and society is also evidenced by the analysis of their activities presented on their websites. This practice is confirmed not only by the analysis of websites, but also by publications: their number is not large (31), and by the way, the authors tackle this topic only once. The paper suggests solving of the above-mentioned problems using huge potential of the libraries.

Purpose – This paper aims to provide a systematic review on library and information science (LIS) profession’s image and stereotypes from 1999 to 2013. In particular, it aims to identify and analyze the prevailing images of librarians in various contexts and explore possible changes occurring over time. Design/methodology/approach – The method of systematic review is adopted to identify the prevailing images in LIS profession. Specifically, 60 papers were selected and five main themes emerged such as “public’s perceptions”, “librarians’ perceptions”, “students’ perceptions”, “mass media” and “image as an issue” after a thorough analysis of papers’ aim. Findings – It was found that librarians were negatively perceived by both the wider public and the students. In terms of mass media, the image of “the old maid” was dominant, whereas newspapers focused on the male librarian who was perceived as glamorous. Positive stereotypes were also found in children books. On the whole, librarian’s image and relevant stereotypes have not changed considerably over time. Research limitations/implications – This literature review considered only papers published between 2000 and 2013 and only in English mainly due to language restrictions. Originality/value – This review identifies, critically analyzes and discusses the literature on the prevailing images and stereotypes associated with LIS profession in the past 13 years. In addition, it attempts to identify and discuss any changes that occurred in this time frame.
