Počevši od glasovitog Freudova tumačenja Ibsenove drame Rosmersholm koje izlaže u tekstu “Neki karakterni tipovi iz psihoanalitičke prakse” (1916), književni se kritičari nisu prestali zabavljati pitanjem zašto je Rebekka West odlučila – nakon što je navela suprugu Johanessa Rosmera da počini samoubojstvo kako bi sama postala Johanessova supruga – najednom promijeniti mišljenje i odbiti Rosmerovu prosidbu. Nastojeći rasvijetliti zagonetku odnosa Rebekke i Rosmera, u radu se upućuje na istovjetnu enigmu koju nalazimo u Platonovu Simpoziju, u kojem Sokrat, u odnosu s Alkibijadom, odbija pristati na igru ljubavi. Slijedom Lacanova tumačenja odnosa Sokrata i Alkibijada, prema kojem Sokrat odbija Alkibijada zbog vlastite nemogućnosti da prihvati položaj ljubljenika, odnosno da ulogu ljubavnika zamijeni ulogom ljubljenika, da erastēs postane erōmenos, u nastavku se analiziraju raspodjela i smjena uloga u "Rosmersholmu", napose uloga ljubavnika i ljubljenika te učitelja i učenika.

RESUMENEn este artículo se revisa la información acerca de la supuesta belleza del género enharmónico tal y como habla de él Aristóxeno en su tratado musical, el más antiguo conservado, sin perder de vista el hecho de que con toda probabilidad ya había desaparecido cuando escribió sus Elementa harmonica en el siglo iv a. C. En cualquier caso, este género no se conserva en la fase helenística ni en el período romano, fue tempranamente sustituido por los otros dos géneros, el cromático y el diatónico. Mi metodología de investigación buscará mostrar que parte del problema de su extinción en la música práctica debe de haber yacido en los problemas que implica la afinación del tetracordo enharmónico para la voz humana, especialmente en un contexto en que la mayoría de los cantantes de los coros del drama antiguo era enteramente amateur. En conclusión, los tratados deben de estar analizando una práctica que ya no existe, aunque los autores la añoran, y cuya dificultad vocal y técnica debió de conducir a la eliminación del coro en fases tardías de la tragedia y la comedia, especialmente tras la irrupción en escena de la vanguardia de compositores de la Nueva Música. Being the oldest extant Greek treatise on music theory and without losing sight of the fact that most probably had already disappeared when he wrote his Elementa Harmonica in the fourth century BC, is the oldest of all extant pieces on which we shall base our research. In any case, this genre is not found either in any example in the Hellenistic phase or in the Roman period, having been early replaced by the other two genres (the chromatic and the diatonic). My researching methodology will show what part of the problems for its extinction in music practice have relied on tune problems, especially those of the enharmonic tetrachord for human voice in a context in which most of the choral singers of ancient drama were entirely amateur. As a result, treatises would be showing a non-existing-but-longed-for practice, whose technical and vocal difficulties must have led to the elimination of the chorus in later phases of tragedy and comedy, primarily after the appearance of the avant-garde New Music composing wave on stage. U radu je fokus na leksičkom sastavu Isakovićeve drame Hasanaginica (1982) s obzirom na postupke izdvajanja i tumačenje leksike u njegovom Rječniku karakteristične leksike u bosanskome jeziku (1991). Cilj je utvrditi odnos riječi u drami Hasanaginica i leksema uvrštenih u Rječnik – s polaznom pretpostavkom da postoji određena podudarnost u njihovom izboru, formi i značenju, pri čemu se ne gubi iz vida da su u pitanju dva posve različita tipa tekstova, vrsno i žanrovski, dva stila - književnoumjetnički (drama, tragedija) i primijenjeno naučni (rječnik, jednojezički), što za sobom povlači niz bitnih, međusobno suprotstavljenih distinkcija na planu leksike i njenog funkcioniranja u tekstu premda su i jedno i drugo, drama i rječnik, 'jeziku metajezici' (usp. Peti, 1995: 103), jedno in preasentia (drama), drugo in absentia (rječnik). U analizi se dakle polazi od toga da dramu i rječnik čine komponente različite strukturno (s obzirom na mjesto u tekstu), formalno (s obzirom na način pisanja), funkcionalno (s obzirom na uloge u 'drugostepenom modelativnom sistemu' i u leksikografskom djelu) i jezičkostilski (s obzirom na vrijednosti i efekte). Koliko mi je poznato, za ovu temu do sada nije bilo naučnih zanimanja niti je bilo istraživanja o njoj. U radu sam se zadržala samo na određenim riječima iz drame preko kojih se mogu pratiti i u konačnici prepoznati bitne konture odnosa drame i Rječnika sa aspekta koji je odabran u ovom radu.

Krajem 1936. Miroslav Krleža je dobio ponudu da se njegova drama U logoru,osim u Osijeku i Beogradu postavi i u Skoplju. Krleža je nazočio i premijeri svoje predstave, a u pismu s premijere datiranom 18. I. 1937. piše Beli: "Skoplje je nesrazmjerno zanimljiviji teatar od svih teatara po našim teatrima i ne bi trebalo sjediti i dangubiti po zagrebačkim sobama i kavanama nego ‘putovati po narodu’". Ova Krležina rečenica izaziva i provocira i u znatiželji tjera da se ovo razdoblje makedonske kazališne kulture i dramske književnosti općenito, kao glavnog uzroka sintagme "teatar od svih teatara" detaljnije istraži. Radi bolje preglednosti u radu su izdvojena tri imanentna, odnosno najizvođenija autora toga razdoblja: Vasil Iljoski, Anton Panov i Risto Krle. Nezaobilazna tema u sva tri autora je pečalbarstvo − produkt teškog života Makedonaca u podijeljenoj i okupiranoj Makedoniji.

Romanca o tri ljubavi (1976) zauzima istaknuto i povlašteno mjesto unutar dramskog opusa Antuna Šoljana, zahvaljujući i tomu što je u cijelosti napisana u stihu. Autorski podnaslovljena kao “sentimentalna farsa”, u književno-teorijskoj literaturi različito se poetički i generički određivala: kao poetska drama, postmoderna drama, neoromantički igrokaz, burleskna komedija i sl., ili kao farsa koja izmiče zakonitostima žanra. U radu se iz pozicija suvremene genologije ukazuje na problematičnost statičnog poimanja kategorije žanra te postavlja teza o mogućnosti teksta da participira u okviru više žanrova. Također, s obzirom na nedostatnost artikuliranijih generičkih istraživanja ove drame, ukazuje se na temeljne razlike u shvaćanju pojmova romanca i romansa te se ispituje kako drama funkcionira u kontekstu žanrovskih određenja i konvencija romanse.

Rad obrađuje temu globalnih migracija u suvremenoj španjolskoj drami na prijelazu stoljeća, od 90-ih godina XX. do prvog desetljeća XXI. stoljeća, kada uočavamo sve veći broj dramskih djela koja tematiziraju probleme s kojima se susreće multikulturalno španjolsko društvo. Unutar danog povijesnog konteksta utvrđuju se tematske smjernice dramskih djela u kojima motivi poput marginalizacije, rasizma i netolerancije prema strancima ocrtavaju sliku šire kulturne pozadine i sveprisutnu polarizaciju španjolskog društva. Analiziraju se motivi koji tvore migrantski diskurs te žanrovske osobitosti dramskih djela na tragu postmodernizma, pri čemu se naglasak stavlja na dekonstrukciju nacionalnog narativa na kojem se gradi predodžba stabilnog kulturnog identiteta u opreci prema Drugome.

Prva pjesnička knjiga Marije Čudine Nestvarne djevojčice (1959) prepoznata je kao zavidan početak i jedno od najsnažnijih ostvarenja u njezinu pjesništvu. Njezine su glavne karakteristike besjedovni stih, intimna drama lirskoga subjekta, tema tijela i užas svijeta. U ovome se radu obrađuje relacija subjekt – svijet koju smatramo paradigmatičnom za ovu zbirku. Intimna drama lirskoga subjekta polarizirana je kategorijama djetinjstva i rata s jedne i egzistencijalističkih toposa s druge strane. Slutnja smrti kao intimistička kategorija usredišćuje subjekt u njegov solipsizam i nemogućnost iskoraka prema svijetu. Na prostorno-vremenskome odnosu prije – sada – poslije smještaju se subjektove diskurzivne strategije i analizira njegov poetski govor. Poetski govor dijelimo na govor o svijetu, govor o smrti i transgresivni govor koji uprisutnjuje nagnuće k smrti. S obzirom na personalnost i impersonalnost kao iskazne moduse, u svakome tipu govora analiziramo opisni, doživljajni i refleksivni diskurz koji se definiraju svojstvenim stilističkim značajkama. Time se proširuje razumijevanje entiteta subjekta i svijeta koji su bitna obilježja cijele Čudinine poetike i usmjerava interpretativna putanja prema pjesničkome opusu.

Drama K svitanju (1927.) jedan je od prvih objavljenih tekstova dugo zanemarivane hrvatske spisateljice Side Košutić (1902. - 1965.). Uglavnom se klasificirala kao simbolička drama ili dijaloški poetski tekst, no sustavne analize zapravo nikada nisu bile provedene budući da se kritika uglavnom bavila njezinim romanima i lirskim pjesmama, kao dominantnima u njezinu opusu. U drami je nagoviještena tema sukoba oca i kćeri (s elementima upisivanja traumatičnog tjelesnog iskustva protagonistkinje), koji će književnica kroz čitavo svoje daljnje stvaranje u različitim žanrovima reinterpretirati i povezivati s mistikom trpljenja i žrtve u novozavjetnom ključu, što će činiti jezgru ontološkoga konstrukta u njezinim tekstovima. Zbog izrazite simbolizacije i alegorizacije dramskog diskursa te uključivanja fantastičnoga modusa, tekst je ondašnjoj publici ostao ponešto hermetičan, no pomnije čitanje otkriva poveznice s europskim klasicima (Tagore, Sofoklo, Shakespeare). Ipak, središnji dio ovoga istraživanja bit će usmjeren na dominantne elemente (tematsko-motivske, u simboličkom imaginariju i u strukturi teksta) koji ukazuju na biblijsku Pjesmu nad pjesmama kao mogući prototekst. Ispitat će se povezanost glavnih temata u drami s tematima unutar prototeksta te će ih se protumačiti u skladu s ontološkim konstruktom mistične borbe svjetla i tame, dobra i zla u pojedinačnim ljudskim sudbinama i svijetu, koji je Sida Košutić ovim ranim književnim tekstom tek započela graditi. Cilj je istraživanja dokazati elemente koji ukazuju na dramu Side Košutić kao citatni, imanentno dijaloški tekst u odnosu prema prototekstu, čime se omogućuje njegova integracija u opće razvojne tendencije hrvatske dramske književnosti prvih desetljeća 20. stoljeća i pokazuje da i dramski dio opusa Side Košutić, premda malen, može naći svoje relevantno mjesto u nacionalnom kanonu.

Roman U mraku, kao najzrelije djelo Ilije Jakovljevića, objavljen je 1945. godine, a govori o gradu Mostaru zahvaćenom psihozom nadolazećeg Prvog svjetskog rata. Istina, taj rat više odjekuje, nego se izravno događa u Mostaru. I, unutar tog općeg, socijalno-političkog određenja, odvija se jedna intimna, ljubavna drama u vidu ljubavnog trokuta. Struktura romana je uistinu znalački građena i s obzirom na glavne i sporedne likove, i s obzirom na kompoziciju djela kao i na uži i širi ambijent odvijanja radnje. Naročite odlike ovog romana vide se u pripovjedačkim tehnikama, gdje se oblici monologiziranja pokazuju kao najčešći i stilski najefektivniji narativni oblici.

Suvremena hrvatska psihološka drama, Gavranova Nora danas (2005.), analizirat će se iz književnoteorijskog emocionološkog aspekta. S obzirom da do sada u hrvatskoj znanosti o književnosti ne postoji pisani trag o znanstvenom radu iz područja književne emocionologije (suvremena književnoteorijska disciplina) u istraživanju hrvatske književnosti moderne i postmoderne, ovaj rad smatra se književnoznanstvenim emocionološkim prvijencem toga razdoblja. Uvodno će se prikazati teorijski okvir emocionologije s naglaskom na hrvatsku književnu znanost (godine 2012. tiskan je prvi hrvatski emocijski zbornik Poj željno). Veza između emocija i književnosti je imanentna (Brković, 2015.), a znanstveni interes rada usmjeren je na istraživanje funkcionalnosti (za)dane emocionalne kategorije dramskih likova u dramskome tekstu, u oblikovanju socijalne relacije, konkretno rodnih odnosa i literarne manifestacije emocija. Cilj je prikazati ulogu karakterističnih emocija (ljutnje, straha, tuge, radosti) u izgradnji identiteta dramskih likova Nore i Tonija (antilutke i lutka), a posebno s obzirom na rodnu stereotipizaciju. Metodologija je usmjerena na dramsku narativnu strukturu s integracijom metodoloških okvira afektivne naratologije i teorija konceptualne metafore. Analizirajući emocije kao ekspresiju osjećaja u književnom tekstu (Brković, 2015.), strategije reprezentacija emocija te recepciju emocija u suvremenoj hrvatskog drami, istražuju se suvremene koncepcije teorije književnosti ‒ emocionologije, uz doticaj kognitivne psihologije te neurobioloških i filozofskih teorija o emocijama. Novoosmišljenim pojmom emocijska metamorfoza u ovome radu želi se dati doprinos terminologiji emocionologije, koja je još uvijek neusuglašena i u razvitku (Robinson 2004, Keen 2011). Novim, emocijskim čitanjem književnog teksta sugerira se i ključ razumijevanja temeljnih odnosa (dramske) naracije, a unutar poetike suvremene (dramske) književnosti.

U radu se razmatra šest aluzivnih drama Nedjeljka Fabrija, Reformatori, Admiral Krstof Kolumbo, Čujete li svinje kako rokću u ljetnikovcu naših gospara?, Meštar, Kralj je pospan i Magnificat. Ponajprije se obrazlažu svojstva vremena nastanka Fabrijevih drama, posebno činjenica da su umjetnici mogli biti kazneno odgovorni ako su mimo režimskog ograničenja umjetničke zapitanosti posezali za zabranjenim temama i uzimali ih kao motiviku za izazivanje umjetničke dramske stvarnosti koja bi razotkrivala muku čovjeka u dotičnom vremenu. U tom povijesnom kontekstu u radu se istražuje poslanje pisca, odgovorna pred stvarnošću, da ustraje, da (iz drame Reformatori citira se govor lica iz drame) pretvoriti/i vlastitu sredinu u znanstvenu i književnu istinu i baciti joj je u lice da se gleda i osvijesti. Stoga autor pristupa građenju takvih formi svojih dramskih djela koje su imale svrhu skriti govor o sadašnjosti pod plaštem prošlosti ili snoviđene radnje. Ta skrivenost se u radu imenuje kao govor pod šifrom. Aluzivnost jedne drame prelazi u drugu dramu, ona se nastavlja i nadograđuje, reflektirajući sve više i više bolno autorovo viđenje dramskog zbivanja, koje privodi suočenju s općim svojstvima povijesti. Istraživački razlog rada nastoji razotkriti naboj svojstava svakog pojedinog šifriranog djela, njegovu alegorijsku asocijativnosti, sve do vremenom samoupravnog modela življenja, kad autor postavlja pitanje krivnje vlasti, ali i krivnju onih koji tu vlast slijede. Što se, pak, tiče istraživanja svojstava Fabrijeve posljednje drame Magnificat, rad privodi do posve originalnih autorovih estetsko-dramaturških konzekvenca već znanog modela kazališta u kazalištu. Autor međusobnim suprotstavljanjem dviju usporednih stvarnosti, stvarnosti izvođača djela i umjetničke stvarnosti djela, dolazi do njihova jedinstva pa se one, u konkretnoj povijesnoj situaciji izvođenja, odnosno pisanja djela, identificiraju kao zajednička stvarnost. Iz dešifrirane konkretnosti zbivanja, rad slijedi autorovo nastojanje za preispitivanjem metafizičkih obzora stvarnosti u situacijama kad se vertikalna pozicija vlasti isprepliće s horizontalnom pozicijom čovjeka-patnik, i obrnuto. Tada vidimo da se one samorazvijaju do istosti. I taj rezultat se u radu bilježi kao vrijedan estetski doseg – za razliku od uradaka onih pisaca koji dramsku radnju bilježe iz svoje teze pa tako postaju njezini pisači, bez izgled da slijede takvu dramsku radnju koja se razvija iz sebe same te da se takvim ishodom ostvare kao dramski autori.

Drama Fen nastala je nakon drame top djevojke, koja važi za najpoznatiju feministič- ku dramu Keril Čerčil i tematski je nadopunjuje. Dok u prethodnoj drami Keril Čerčil prikazuje žene na vrhu društvene ljestvice, u ovoj drami ona se bavi isključivo ženama koje se nalaze na društvenom dnu. Ovo je drama o ženama koje nisu predmet pažnje ni feministkinja, a ni tzv. Novih ljevičara, čiji je pokret smišljen da bi diskvalifikovao prvobitnu marksističku Ljevicu, i koje su prepuštene isključivo vlastitim nastojanjima da prežive dan. Da bi prikazala isprazne i teške živote ovih žena zaglibljenih u baruštinama istočne Engleske, Keril Čerčil kombinuje mnogobrojne pozorišne tehnike čija raznovrsnost ovu dramu čini jedinstvenom. Tako autor- ka njenim uobičajnim strategijama epskog teatra pridodaje tehnike eksperimentalnog teatra, kao i nove dokumentarističke tehnike usavršene tokom saradnje sa pozorišnom trupom joint Stock Company. Brehtova tipologija i efekat otuđenja samo su neke of tehnika kojima je autorka uspjela da istorizuje pojave o kojima piše i ukaže gledaocima na kontinuiranu zloupotrebu moći i podjarmljivanje širokih narodnih masa od strane kapitalističkih tiranina. S druge strane, njeno insistiranje na emocionalnom angažmanu i empatiji ukazuje da samo sprega emocije i razumije- vanja može dovesti do toliko željene revolucionarne promjene u zapadnom društvu. Pored kri- tike kapitalizma i cjelokupne zapadne ideologije moći i eksploatacije, u ovoj drami Keril Čerčil takođe aludira na nedovoljnosti i nedostatke liberalnog feminizma koji ona suštinski tumači kao ideološku podkategoriju patrijarhalno-kapitalističkog sistema.

Рахманинова на примере крупных симфонических произведений композитора. Исследовательское внимание сфокусировано на четырех элементах музыкального языка Рахманинова, объединенных в индивидуальном творческом косме. Первая симфония предстает в качестве знакового сочинения с предчувствием фатальных событий русской истории. Подчеркивается связь между концепцией Первой симфонии и художественно-стилистическим решением поздних симфонических произведений. Симфонические танцы трактуются как квинтэссенция творчества Рахманинова со всеобъемлющим доминированием трагического начала —условное «повторение» драматургии Первой симфонии. Article is dedicated to one of the “eternal themes” of Russian musicology. An attempt is made again to correlate the artistic ideals of Moscow and St. Petersburg in the works of Sergei Rachmaninoff on the example of major symphonic works. Research is focused on four elements of Rachmaninoff ’s musical language, united in the individual creative cosm14. The First Symphony appears as a landmark work with a presentiment of fatal events in the Russian history and the further evolution of composer’s thinking. The connection between the concept of the First Symphony and the artistic and stylistic solution of the later symphonic works is emphasized. Symphonic dances are interpreted as the quintessence of Rachmaninoff ’s art due to fusion of previously announced elements with the all-encompassing dominance of the tragic beginning — a conditional “repetition” of the drama of the First Symphony.

Abstract. Two nearly identical meteor radars were operated at Koto Tabang (0.20° S, 100.32° E), West Sumatra, and Biak (1.17° S, 136.10° E), West Papua, in Indonesia, separated by approximately 4000 km in longitude on the Equator. The zonal and meridional momentum flux, u′w′ and v′w′, where u, v, and w are the eastward, northward, and vertical wind velocity components, respectively, were estimated at 86 to 94 km altitudes using the meteor radar data by applying a method proposed by Hocking (2005). The observed u′w′ at the two sites agreed reasonably well at 86, 90, and 94 km during the observation periods when the data acquisition rate was sufficiently large enough. Variations in v′w′ were consistent between 86, 90, and 94 km altitudes at both sites. The climatological variation in the monthly averaged u′w′ and v′w′ was investigated using the long-term radar data at Koto Tabang from November 2002 to November 2013. The seasonal variations in u′w′ and v′w′ showed a repeatable semiannual and annual cycles, respectively. u′w′ showed eastward values in February–April and July–September and v′w′ was northward in June to August at 90–94 km, both of which were generally anti-phase with the mean zonal and meridional winds, having the same periodicity. Our results suggest the usefulness of the Hocking method.

The history of Russian translations of the I.-V. Goethe’s drama “Torquato Tasso” (1789) is discussed in the article. Responses testifying to the familiarity with this work of many Russian writers, in particular, V. A. Zhukovsky, N. V. Kukolnik, N. A. Polevoy, I. V. Kireevsky, N. I. Nadezhdin, I. S. Turgenev, A. I. Herzen and others are systematized. The history of Russian Reception of the “Torquato Tasso”, dating back to the 1840s (A. N. Strugovschikov, N. M. Satin, A. N. Yakhontov, etc.), and its influence on aesthetic reflection in the era of romanticism and afterwards is discussed in the article. Particular attention is paid to the previously unknown translation of V. G. Benediktov (presumably the 1850s), preserved in the archives of the writer in the Russian National Library. Subsequent translations created by V. A. Sorgenfrey (1920-1921) and S. M. Soloviev (1933) are also analyzed. With the involvement of diary, epistolary and memoir materials, the activity of A. A. Blok as a translation editor by V. A. Sorgenfrey is conceptualized. The relevance of the study is due to the need to clarify the large-scale picture of the translation and literary critical reception of the West European classics in Russia.

The origin and evolution of granites remain a matter of debate and several approaches have been made to distinguish between different granite types. Overall, granite classification schemes based on element concentrations and ratios, tectonic settings or the source rocks (I-, A-, S-type) are widely used, but so far, no systematic large-scale study on Th/U ratio variations in granites based on their source or tectonic setting has been carried out, even though these elements show very similar behavior during melting and subsequent processes. We therefore present a compiled study, demonstrating an easy approach to differentiate between S-, A- and I-type granites using Th and U concentrations and ratios measured with a portable gamma ray spectrometer. Th and U concentrations from 472 measurements in S- and I-type granites from the Variscan West-Bohemian Massif, Germany, and 78 measurements from Neoproterozoic A-type Malani granites, India, are evaluated. Our compendium shows significant differences in the average Th/U ratios of A-, I- and S-type granites and thus gives information about the source rock and can be used as an easy classification scheme. Considering all data from the studied A-, I- and S-type granites, Th/U ratios increase with rising Th concentrations. A-type granites have the highest Th/U ratios and high Th concentrations, followed by I-type granites. Th/U ratios in S- to I-type granites are lower than in A-type and I-type granites, but higher than in S-type granites. The variation of Th/U ratios in all three types of granite cannot be explained by fractional crystallization of monazite, zircon and other Th and U bearing minerals alone, but are mainly due to source heterogeneities and uranium mobilization processes.

Hrvatska je izrazito kršćanska zemlja (više od 91 % građana se izjasnilo kao kršćani), ali to, nažalost, ne znači da je istodobno zemlja visoke etičnosti. U stvarnosti se Hrvatska bori na mnogo etičkih bojišta. Ovaj rad započinje s pretpostavkom da ispravno shvaćena i jasno komunicirana integracija biblijske vjere i rada može doprinijeti rješenju problema u Hrvatskoj. Istraživanja su potvrdila da malo ljudi čita i razumije Bibliju. Kada Sveto pismo nema toliku važnost, za većinu ljudi koji se izjašnjavaju kao kršćani, teško je govoriti o biblijskom pogledu na rad i razumjeti biblijsku teologiju rada. Predlaže se novi model za razumijevanje integriranoga pogleda na rad kojim se može bolje razumjeti cjelinu biblijske priče. Sveto pismo opisuje Božju dramu u (barem) četiri čina: 1. Postanak, 2. Pad (grijeh, pobuna), 3. Pomirenje (otkupljenje, spasenje), 4. Ponovno stvaranje (obnova, »Novo nebo i nova zemlja«). Pomoću ovoga »četveročinskog okvira« možemo bolje razumjeti cjelokupnu biblijsku priču. Bez takvoga potpunijeg, šireg okvira gubi se kontekst i shvaćanje rada.

The goal was to examine demographic differences between former communist regions and other regions of the EU. Besides providing a regional overview of EU?s demographic differences, we question whether the subnational approach offers any new insights into the East-West divide. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 1,155 EU?s NUTS3 regions from 2014. These regions are grouped in two groups: regions that were part of a com-munist country, and other regions. Mortality, fertility and age structure indicators were tested between the two groups of regions. GDP/c was used to control for differences in economic development by segmenting the regions into tree brackets: low, medium, and high. The differences were then tested for each indicator. Regional variation within countries for each indicator was also assessed. The gaps exist at regional level and are the widest with mortality and fertility schedule, regardless of GDP/c. Former communist regions on average tend to be slightly younger. Analysis of regional variation showed that subnational approach was warranted when studying East-West demographic disparities, especially when it comes to fertility schedule. BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormal insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Alpha-glucosidase enzyme inhibitors are drugs that work by slowing the absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine so that it has an impact on decreasing post-prandial glucose levels. AIM: The aim of the study was to assess the alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activities of methanolic extracts from different parts of Uncaria gambir Roxb. and Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp. grown in Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia often used as herbal medicine. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Methanolic extracts from different parts, fractions, and different drying methods of U. gambir Roxb. and S. polyanthum (Wight) Walp. grown in Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia, were prepared for alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activities. RESULT: The proanthocyanidin fraction of U. gambir Roxb. (purity of ≥ 75%) showed a potent alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activities as evidenced by low IC50 at 28,993 ± 1,377 μg/ml, while (+)-catechin at 30,855 ± 0,791 μg/ml (IC50 acarbose: 111,286 ± 2,386 μg/ml). The Butanol fraction of S. polyanthum (Wight) Walp. showed potent alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activities as evidenced by low IC50 at 28,469 ± 1,929 μg/ml. CONCLUSION: Butanol fraction from U. gambir Roxb.’s oven-dried leaves and S. polyanthum (Wight) Walp. leaves contained proanthocyanidin class compounds. The proanthocyanidin fraction with a purity of > 75% had a stronger alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activity than the acarbose as a positive control.

This research used a qualitative method that focuses on showing the meaning, describing, purification, placement of data on the context. The data source was 200 of Pontianak Malayan of west Borneo’s vocabulary based on Swadesh lists that translate in Indonesian. The instrument of this research was a recorder that used to interview some native inhabitants of Pontianak of west Borneo which have Pontianak Malayan of west Borneo accent. Then the researcher saw the difference of Pontianak Malayan of west Borneo with Indonesian made in written type. The researcher used “Simak method”, recording, interview, and taking note. The researcher used Padan method in this research. The method used in the research is shown by informal. The result of the research are (1) of Pontianak Malayan of west Borneo with Indonesians’ standard according to phonologic including (a) regular difference they are [a]-[∂], [i]-[ε], [u]-[O], [r]-[k], [Ø]-[k], (b) irregular difference they are [l]-[k], [k]-[g], [i]-[a], (2) difference of Pontianak Malayan of west Borneo’s vocabulary with Indonesians’ standard, there are 21 vocabularies.

Biological invasions can alter the biodiversity of native communities generating an ecological impact that in many cases is irreversible. In 2001, Undaria pinnatifida invaded Macrocystis pyrifera kelp in Cracker Bay (42°56′S, 64°27′W; Northern Patagonia, Argentina). The possible impact of that invasion was evaluated in March 2004 with a study of population and morphological parameters of both kelp species and their associated holdfast biodiversity. Three nearby areas of spatial distribution of the kelps were differentiated, one dominated by M. pyrifera (M), an intermediate area characterized by M. pyrifera and U. pinnatifida (M+U), and another dominated by U. pinnatifida (U). In each area, sporophytes in nine quadrats of 1 m2 were collected. The density and biomass m−2, the height of the sporophytes and the size of the holdfast of M. pyrifera did not diminish in the presence of U. pinnatifida. The richness, abundance and diversity of the flora associated with the holdfast of both kelps were similar, whereas these parameters were higher in the case of the fauna associated to M. pyrifera than U. pinnatifida Results obtained in this work suggest that, at this invasion stage, there is no evidence of interspecific competition. Nevertheless, since density and diversity of the fauna associated with the holdfast is different, we expect community changes if the U. pinnatifida invasion continues to expand.

The author aims to show that Sidney Lumet’s cinema classic 12 Angry Men (1957) i s not on l y a f i l m a b out p e r s u a s ion (making art the subject of persuasion about something that presents the clash of various attitudes and views), but a l s o a p e r s u a s i ve f i l m (placing an emphasis on persuading the viewer for specific reasons). For the second of these perspectives, non-verbal persuasion is of fundamental importance – implicit, in its immanent essence, because it uses certain narrative techniques and remains in a purposeful relationship with the organisation of its aesthetics. The axis of this kind of organisation is determined by the categories of gravity and lightness, which seem to fundamentally define various aspects of the film, ranging from the weight of the issues discussed to the implications associated with the setting of the drama. Lumet’s work is a model example of a text that methodically engages audiences in an aesthetic-affective game with the help of gravity and lightness, but also gives the game a world-view sense: it shapes beliefs and assessments that weigh not only on viewers’ attitudes towards conflicts that determine the relationship in the film world, but also affect the perception of non-textual reality (not openly making viewers approve the American model of democracy).

Every few decades, the world order changes due to various geopolitical, economic and other circumstances. For example, as a result of globalization, the world order has undergone significant changes in the last forty years. Globalization has led to the destruction of the postwar world order, as well as to world leadership by the United States and the West. However, in recent decades, as a result of globalization, the U.S. and the West began to cede their leadership to developing countries, so there is now a change in the economic structure of relations in the world system. Today the center of economic growth is in the East, namely in Asia. There are no new superpowers in the world at the moment, but the unipolar world will cease to exist due to the weakening of the U. S. leadership, which will lead to a change in the world order. A new leader, which may replace the U. S., will not have as wide range of advantages as the USA has. Most likely, the essence of the new order will be to unite the largest countries and alliances into blocks, for example, the USA together with the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the EU, etc. The article outlines forecasts of GDP growth rates as well as the global energy outlook; analyzes the LNG market as well as the impact of the pandemic on the global oil and gas market; and lists the characteristics of U. S. geopolitics.

In recent years, considerable scholarly attention has been paid to the Black Communist Claudia Jones as a progenitor of Black radical feminist notions of intersectionality. In Britain, Jones has also been hailed as an important part of the Black British political and cultural radical tradition. Less studied is how Jones brought a U. S. Black Left institution-building sensibility to the UK, particularly as embodied in the West Indian Gazette and Afro-Asian-Caribbean News (WIG) newspaper, helping to lay the foundation for the growth of Black Power and Black Arts in the UK. In turn, Jones and WIG brought to Black radicals in the U. S. a renewed sense of Black internationalism inspired by Africa's crossroads and its diaspora in London and other major British cities.

AbstractObservations of surface elevation (s) and horizontal velocity components (u and v) are inverted to infer the topography (b) and lubrication (c) at the bed of an ice stream, based on a linearized perturbation theory of the transmission of flow disturbances through the ice thickness. Synthetic data are used to illustrate non-uniqueness in the inversion, but also demonstrate that effects of b and c can be separated when s, u and v are specified, even with added noise to simulate measurement errors. We have analyzed prominent short-horizontal-scale (∼2 km) features in topography and velocity pattern in a local 64 km by 32 km area of the surface of Ice Stream E,West Antarctica. Our preferred interpretation of bed conditions beneath the most prominent features on the surface identifies a deep trough in the basal topography with low lubrication in the base of the trough.

T. infrared echelle spectrometer (IRSHELL) on the IRTF in April 1988. The instrument simultaneously measures 10 64-point spectra along a 2 × 10″ slit. Data analysis is still in progress; preliminary results are presented here.

Abstract Large semidiurnal vertical displacements (≈100 m) and strong baroclinic currents (≈0.5 m s−1; several times as large as barotropic currents) dominate motions in Mamala Bay, outside the mouth of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. During September 2002, the authors sought to characterize them with a 2-month McLane moored profiler deployment and a 4-day intensive survey with a towed CTD/ADCP and the Research Vessel (R/V) Revelle hydrographic sonar. Spatial maps and time series of turbulent dissipation rate ε, diapycnal diffusivity Kρ, isopycnal displacement η, velocity u, energy E, and energy flux F are presented. Dissipation rate peaks in the lower 150 m during rising isopycnals and high strain and shows a factor-of-50 spring–neap modulation. The largest Kρ values, in the western bay near a submarine ridge, exceed 10−3 m2 s−1. The M2 phases of η and u increase toward the west, implying a westward phase velocity cp ≈ 1 m s−1 and horizontal wavelength ≈60 km, consistent with theoretical mode-1 values. These phases vary strongly (≈±45°) in time relative to astronomical forcing, implying remotely generated signals. Energy and energy flux peak 1–3 days after spring tide, supporting this interpretation. The group velocity, computed as the ratio F/E, is near ≈1 m s−1, also in agreement with theoretical mode-1 values. Spatial maps of energy flux agree well with results from the Princeton Ocean Model, indicating converging fluxes in the western bay from waves generated to the east and west. The observations indicate a time-varying interference pattern between these waves that is modulated by background stratification between their sources and Mamala Bay.

ABSTRACTGondi is a Dravidian language spoken by 2.2 million speakers (Census of India 1981) in the mountains and forests of four adjacent states in central India. Gondi is a chain of several dialects, some of which, at distant points, are perhaps not mutually intelligible. A major dialect division is provided by a two-step sound change: s- > h- in the west, north, and northwest and h- > - in the south and southeast. The present article studies this two-step sound change, which is still in progress, and establishes two facts. First, contrary to the normal expectation that this sound change would be phonetically gradual and lexically abrupt (Neogram-marian type), there is evidence that it has been lexically gradual and perhaps also phonetically gradual (lexical diffusion). Second, phonetic gradualness and regularity in implementation of sound change are properties not incompatible with the mechanism of lexical diffusion. Labov's observation that s > h > has not been reported as a lexically diffused change in many quantitative studies of Portuguese and Spanish (1981) finds a clear exception in Gondi. Under the lexical diffusion model, the regularity of a sound change is defined as the final outcome in a three-stage change of the relevant lexicon: unchanged (u), variant (u ˜ c), and changed (c). If the entire eligible lexicon passed from u to c through u ˜ c, the change would become regular. If all u ˜ c became c and for some reason no item under u became u ˜ c, the sound change would die prematurely, since the variant stage which provided the rule for the innovation would be absent. Since a regular sound change can result from either the Neogrammarian model or the lexical diffusion model, Labov's (1994:542–543) theoretical proposal of complementarity between the kinds of changes resulting from the two mechanisms calls for more studies of sound change in progress to decide the issue.

In all, 300 wild sea trout were sampled from three east coast and two west coast sites around Scotland over a 3-year period to establish the prevalence and the abundance of bacteria, viruses, and ecto- and endoparasites. No bacterial pathogens were isolated from any fish. One fish tested positive for viral pathogens (infectious pancreatic necrosis virus). The viral agent syncytium, resulting from aquareovirus infection, was found in four fish from the east coast. The parasitic fauna consisted of three classes of ectoparasite, Monogenea, Isopoda, and Copepoda, and four classes of endoparasite, Cestoda, Digenea, Nematoda, and Acanthocephala. Sea trout from the east coast sites were larger than those from the west coast. The abundance of Lepeophtheirus salmonis, Hysterothylacium aduncum, and Anisakis sp. was significantly greater at the east coast sites. The only parasite found in significantly greater numbers at a west coast site was Pomphorhynchus laevis.

Latar Belakang: Penyakit Coronavirus 2019 merupakan penyakit infeksi yang disebabkan oleh novel coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV- 2). Kemunculan severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) telah menyebabkan Pandemic Global dan menjadi masalah serius terhadap kesehatan masyarakat dunia termasuk di Indonesia. Covid-19 berdampak pada tingkat ekonomi masyarakat yang mengalami penurunan sehingga mempengaruhi peluang membeli bahan makanan dengan kuantitas dan kualitas yang lebih baik, hal ini berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan jumlah balita underweight. Hal ini sangat mengkhawatirkan karena asupan makanan bergizi sangat penting untuk meningkatkan kekebalan tubuh guna mencegah dan melawan Covid-19 khusunya pada balita. Berdasarkan data hasil Studi Status Gizi Indonesia (SSGI) terdapat 17% balita di Indonesia dengan status gizi underweight dan angka prevalensi kejadian balita underweight di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat saat ini mencapai 22,4%. Dari sepuluh Kabupaten yang terdapat di Nusa Tenggara Barat, Kabupaten Lombok Barat menduduki urutan pertama prevalensi kejadian balita dengan status gizi underweight (20,36%) (Dinas Kesehatan NTB, 2021). Kurangnya pengetahuan ibu mengenai kesehatan balita serta menganggap semua makanan sama tanpa memperhatikan nilai gizi dari makanan yang diberikan menyebabkan anak mudah mengalami underweight. Berdasarkan fakta tersebut, sangatlah penting untuk dilakukan penelitian mengenai intervensi kelas gizi melalui pendekatan emotional demonstration terhadap status gizi balita underweight pada masa pandemi covid_19 di Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melaksanakan kegiatan kelas gizi bagi ibu balita underweight menggunakan metode edukasi pendekatan emotional demonstration sehingga diketahui pengaruhnya terhadap peningkatan status gizi balita underweight pada masa pandemi covid_19 di Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah Open–Label Non Randomized Controlled Trial Design dengan rancangan penelitian Pre-Post with Control Design yaitu membandingkan perubahan hasil pada kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni - Agustus Tahun 2022.Total sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 32 orang yang terbagi dalam kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan dengan kriteria inklusi yaitu balita berusia 6-59 bulan, balita dengan berat badan kurang (underweight), diasuh dan dirawat oleh ibunya, menetap pada Desa Batu Kuta Kecamatan Narmada Kabupaten Lombok Barat, ibu balita bersedia menjadi responden penelitian. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji paired sampel T-test dan regresi linear berganda. Hasil: Analisa univariat menunjukkan status gizi indeks BB/U, sebelum diberikan intervensi kelas gizi melalui pendekatan emotional demonstration (pre-test) sebanyak 16 orang (100%) balita dengan status gizi berat badan kurang (underweight), 10 orang (62.5%) balita dengan status gizi pendek (stunted) berdasarkan indeks TB/U dan sebanyak 11 orang balita (68.8%) dengan status gizi normal berdasarkan indeks BB/TB. Hasil post-test, status gizi balita mengalami perubahan, berdasarkan indeks BB/U sebanyak 11 orang (68.8%) balita dengan berat badan normal (-2SD s/d +1SD), berdasarkan indeks TB/U sebanyak 14 orang (87.5%) balita dengan status gizi normal (-2SD s/d +1SD) dan berdasarkan indeks BB/TB sebanyak 12 orang (75%) balita dengan status gizi baik -2 SD s/d +1 SD. Hasil uji bivariat menunjukkan ada pengaruh intervensi kelas gizi melalui pendekatan emotional demonstration terhadap status gizi balita underweight. Diketahui pada saat pre-test, rata-rata z-score berdasarkan indeks BB/U yaitu -2.45±0.25 (p-value = 0.003) dan saat post-test rata-rata z-score yaitu -1.28±1.25. Berdasarkan indeks TB/U sebelum diberikan intervensi kelas gizi melalui metode emotional demonstration (pre-test) diketahui bahwa rata-rata z-score berada pada -1.92±0.86 dan pada saat post-test rata-rata -0.55±2.06 (p-value = 0.016). Berdasarkan indeks BB/TB data pre-test yaitu rata-rata z-score -1.71±0.60 dan pada saat post-test rata-rata z-score -0.99±1.40) dengan p-value 0.123. Hasil uji regresi linear berganda diketahui nilai R square pada status gizi indeks BB/U sebesar 0.213 (p-value 0.037) dan pada indeks BB/TB R-square sebesar 0.217 (p-value 0.029). Kesimpulan: Ada pengaruh intervensi kelas gizi melalui pendekatan emotional demonstration terhadap kategori status gizi berdasarkan indeks BB/U dan TB/U balita underweight pada masa pandemic covid-19 di Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Intervensi kelas gizi melalui pendekatan emotional demonstration berpengaruh 2 kali lebih besar terhadap peningkatan status gizi berdasarkan indeks BB/U dan BB/TB balita underweight.

In the first collaborative study of paleomagnetism and precise U-Pb geochronology in the Minto block of the Superior Province, mafic dyke swarms with three widely divergent paleomagnetic signatures and isotopic ages have been identified. The 2505 ± 2 Ma Ptarmigan dykes trend north to northeast and have a virtual geomagnetic pole at 42°S, 220°E, similar to that of 2473-2446 Ma Matachewan dykes of the southern Superior Province. The ca. 2230 Ma Maguire dykes trend west to northwest and yield a paleopole at 9°S, 267°E, similar to those for 2216+8-4 Ma Senneterre dykes and 2217-2210 Ma Nipissing sills of the southern Superior and Southern provinces, respectively. The 2209 ± 1 Ma Klotz dykes trend west-northwest, but do not carry a consistent magnetization direction. Finally, 1998 ± 2 Ma Minto dykes of west-northwest to northwest trend, identical in age to the 1998 Ma ± 2 Ma Purtuniq ophiolite of the Cape Smith Belt, have a paleopole at 38°N, 174°E. The similarity of paleopoles for the ca. 2.23-2.21 Ga Maguire dykes of the Minto block, Senneterre dykes of the southern Superior, and Nipissing sills of the Southern Province demonstrates that these regions were in their present relative latitudes and orientations at that time. Likewise, the similarity of the Ptarmigan virtual geomagnetic pole and the Matachewan paleopole suggests little relative latitudinal movement or rotation of the two regions since ca. 2.5 Ga. The Maguire, Senneterre, and Klotz dykes form a roughly radiating pattern and may represent one quadrant of a giant radiating dyke swarm centred southeast of Ungava Bay, whose focus marks the location of a mantle plume responsible for ca. 2.22 Ga breakup along the eastern margin of the Superior Province. If so, the coeval Nipissing sills that intrude sedimentary rocks of the Huronian Supergroup of the Southern Province may have been fed laterally by Senneterre dykes from the Ungava plume centre.

Several studies have been carried out on the oxidative status of West African Dwarf (WAD) sheep as influenced by series of antioxidants. However, not much is documented on the use of taurine as an antioxidant. Thirty two WAD sheep involving both sexes (16 ewes and 16 rams) with an average weight of 12kg were fed taurine supplemented diets and evaluated in a Completely Randomized Design involving four dietary treatments with four replicates of two animals each containing 0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5% levels of iinclusion of taurine. The study was carried out during the wet (July-October) and dry (January-April) seasons. Blood sample was collected and the following oxidative parameters were analyzed; catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX). The result shows CAT activity increases significantly (P<0.05) with 1.5% inclusion level having the highest activity (107.08U/) while the control had the least (100.81U/mL). The least value of SOD (5.14U/mL) was recorded in animals fed the 0% dietary taurine while animals fed 1.5% had the highest activity (9.87U/mL). GST activity increases significantly (P<0.05) from 1.03 U/mL (0%) to 4.68U/mL (1.5%). The GPX varied from 1.14U/mL (0%) to 2.89U/mL (1.5%). CAT (108.61U/mL) is significantly (P<0.05) higher in ram compared to ewe (99.59U/mL). SOD (7.87U/mL) activity was higher in the ewe compared to ram (6.51U/mL). In addition, GST activity was higher in ram (3.06U/mL) compared to ram (1.95U/mL. GPX activity was not influenced by sex. It was concluded from this study that taurine supplemented diet had better antioxidant defense mechanism and significant effect on the sex of investigated WAD sheep. It was recommended that diet of WAD sheep could be supplemented with taurine for higher oxidative stability and protection against tissue damage. Plusieurs études ont été menées sur le statut oxydatif des moutons West African Dwarf (WAD) tel qu'il est influencé par une série d'antioxydants. Cependant, peu de choses sont documentées sur l'utilisation de la taurine comme antioxydant. Trente-deux moutons WAD impliquant les deux sexes (16 brebis et 16 béliers) d'un poids moyen de 12 kg ont été nourris avec des régimes enrichis en taurine et évalués dans un plan complètement randomisé impliquant quatre traitements alimentaires avec quatre répétitions de deux animaux contenant chacun 0, 0,5, 1 et 1,5% niveaux d'inclusion de taurine. L'étude a été réalisée pendant les saisons humides (juillet-octobre) et sèches (janvier-avril). Un échantillon de sang a été prélevé et les paramètres oxydatifs suivants ont été analysés ; catalase (CAT), superoxyde dismutase (SOD), glutathion-S-transférase (GST) et glutathion peroxydase (GPX). Le résultat montre que l'activité CAT augmente de manière significative (P<0,05) avec un niveau d'inclusion de 1,5 % ayant l'activité la plus élevée (107,08 U/) alors que le contrôle en avait le moins (100,81 U/mL). La plus faible valeur de SOD (5,14U/mL) a été enregistrée chez les animaux nourris avec la taurine alimentaire à 0 %, tandis que les animaux nourris avec 1,5 % avaient l'activité la plus élevée (9,87U/mL). Abstract Protean Shakespeare thrives not only in the theatre, but also through what Bolter and Grusin call remediation. This article analyses the religious stances in the play and then shows how opera, symphony and musical have been adapting the veteran Elizabethan drama since the 18th century. Its main approach is comparative and relies on the history of mentalities. Adaptation is dictated by cultural context, the conventions of the lyrical theatre, social and political factors, and reception. The confusing religious configuration of Shakespeare’s England is reinterpreted kaleidoscopically. The article demonstrates, for instance, that Berlioz and Gounod reread it according to staunch Catholicism in 19th century France, while Bernstein’s West Side Story moves the action to New York in the mid- 50’s, the Capulets and Montagues are replaced with rival Polish and Puerto Rican gangs and religion with cultural identity.

The paper discusses artistic portrayal of an ethnic migrant in the modern Russian drama on the example of the play “Khach” (2014) by U. B. Gitsareva. The author focuses on the way migration is described and what are the meanings that inform this social phenomenon in the play. The play`s poetics is about giving a voice to migrants and distinguishing them from the mute mass, which organically fits into general tendency of Documentary Theater. The study highlights the concept of “strangeness” (“Otherness”), which is realized here both through a spatial chronotope and artistic objectivity; identifies and systematizes discursive means and mechanisms for constructing the image of an ethnic migrant, reveals perception and attitude of the host community towards the ethnic migrants, explores characteristics attributed to him in the host environment, analyzes how the topic of public recognition is embodied in everyday language and indicates strategies for migrants to overcoming “strangeness” (“otherness”). The author also substantiates the issue`s relevance for literary research. The choice of the paper`s subject is determined by the lack of studies of the given issue in terms of the modern Russian literature. As the analysis shows the play “Khach” is a comprehensive attempt at generalization, built into both the socio-psychological and ideological context.

The current study aims at analysing phonological production of Sundanese beginner EFL learners in an elementary school in West Java. This study analyses both the production of vowels and consonants that are particularly present in English language but are not in the learners’ L1 i.e., Sundanese. Qualitative approach was used in the study. Participants were asked to read two English short stories titled “A Good Boy” and “A Greedy Mouse” while being recorded. Their recording was then transcribed using phonetic transcription. The learners’ phonological productions were then classified using the chart from the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). The study shows that the Sundanese EFL learners’ phonological production is heavily influenced by their first language. There are several common mistakes found in the learners’ production of vowels, such as [a] ↔ [Ʌ], [e], [eə], [u:], [ɔ] 2. [ə] ↔ [e], [u], [Ʌ], [ei], [a], [aʊ], [ʊə] 3. [ʊ] ↔[u], [ɔ] 4. The results confirm several previous studies which consequently suggests that these learners need specific approach in EFL learning if their target is to be as close as possible to the standard pronunciation of English.

Ecological aspects and genetic diversity of Shorea balangeran in two forest types of Muara Kendawang Nature Reserve, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 20: 482-488. Shorea balangeran (balangeran) belongs to the Dipterocarpaceae family that is distributed naturally in Indonesia with a wide range of ecological conditions including peat swamp and heath forests. Good adaptability of S. balangeran remains unknown concerning molecular (genetic) responses that are important to provide scientific knowledge for supporting forest restoration, especially for peatland restoration efforts. The main objective of this research was to analyze the ecological aspects and genetic diversity of S. balangeran in two types of forests, namely: peat forests (wetland) and heath forests (dry land). Field research was conducted in Muara Kendawangan Nature Reserve, West Kalimantan following standard vegetation analysis by establishing purposively sample plots (50 m x 50 m). Genetic diversity was assessed by RAPD analysis using ten random polymorphic primers. Results showed that both in heath and peat forests, S. balangeran was dominant, but only at pole and tree stages indicating that poor regeneration capacity of S. balangeran. This finding also confirmed the critically endangered status of S. balangeran as listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Genetic analysis using RAPD did not show a clustering of S. balangeran between peat forest and heath forest populations, indicating that S. balangeran has good adaptability to grow in both forest types.

Six seaweed species, Bryopsis plumose (Hudson)C.Agardh, Caulerpa racemose (Forskall) J.Agardh, Ulva fasciata Delile, Sargassum longifolium (Turner) C. Agardh, Gracilaria corticate (J.Agardh) J. Agardh and Sargassum wightii Greville ex J. Agardh were collected at Kadiyapattinum Coast of Kanyakumari District. They were shade dried, powdered and extracted with 100% methanol and screened the phytochemicals by standard analytical protocols. Among the seaweeds, U. fasciata showed the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, phenols, steroids, tannins and terpenoids also found in rich of total protein and carbohydrate. Based on the initial screening U. fasciata was selected for further antimicrobial study and serially extracted with methanol, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone and hexane and screened antibacterial and antifungal activity. Among the selected solvents, methanol extract of U. fasciata showed high activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus sp., Klebsiella pneumonia and Aeromonas hydrophila. The methanol extracts effectively controlled the bacterial pathogens at the zone of inhibition of 8.11, 11.33, 13.87 and 17.76 mm against Bacillus sp., S. aureus, K. pneumonia and A. hydrophila respectively. Antifungal screening result revealed that, very least activities, less than 3mm were observed against the fungal pathogens, Candida albicans, Rhizopus oryzae and Aspergillus flavus. Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy revealed the presence of alcohol, alkenes, aromatic, amine, phenyl, ether, methylene, primary amines, and aliphatic chloro compound in the methanolic extract of U. fasciata. In order to characterize the antimicrobial protein, crude extract was purified through sephadex G-75 gel filtration chromatography and characterized the antimicrobial protein found to be 13 kDa. Further the methanolic extract of U. fasciata at different concentrations (100,200 & 400 mg/Kg) was incorporated the diets were fed to the ornamental gold fish Carassius auratus for 30 days and challenged with virulent A. hydrophila and studied the survival, specific bacterial load reduction. The highest concentrations of U. fasciata diets fed fishes had significantly (P<0.05) improved survival and reduced Aeromonas count in the blood. This study concluded that, U. fasciata extract improve survival and also helped to reduce the Aeromonas load at in vivo level which was useful to develop antibacterial diets in the fresh water aquaculture industry.

A U-Net algorithm was used to retrieve surface pressure and wind speed over the ocean within tropical cyclones (TCs) and their neighboring areas using NOAA-20 Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) reprocessed Sensor Data Record (SDR) brightness temperatures (TBs) and geolocation information. For TC locations, International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship (IBTrACS) data have been used over the North Atlantic Ocean and West Pacific Ocean between 2018 and 2021. The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) Reanalysis v5 (ERA5) surface pressure and wind speed were employed as reference labels. Preliminary results demonstrated that the visualizations for wind speed and pressure matched the prediction and ERA5 location. The residual biases and standard deviations between the predicted and reference labels were about 0.15 m/s and 1.95 m/s, respectively, for wind speed and 0.48 hPa and 2.67 hPa, respectively, for surface pressure, after applying cloud screening for each ATMS pixel. This indicates that the U-Net model is effective for surface wind speed and surface pressure estimates over general ocean conditions.

Fibromialgija (FM) je dijagnoza koja se postavlja osobama s kroničnom mišićno-koštanom boli za koju se ne može utvrditi alternativni uzrok, poput upale ili oštećenja tkiva. FM je stanje obilježeno kroničnom raširenošću simptoma boli i višestrukih simptoma, uključujući umor, poremećaj sna, kognitivnih disfunkcija, poremećaja raspoloženja i depresije. Pacijenti koji boluju od FM-a trpe kroničnu bol duže od tri mjeseca što im značajno narušava kvalitetu života. FM nije za život opasna, deformirajuća ili progresivna bolest. Anksioznost i depresija najčešća su povezanost. Osobe koje boluju od FM-a napete su, tjeskobne i klonule. Ukočenost i bolovi kod fibromialgije nastupaju postupno, a simptome pogoršavaju emocionalni stres, izlaganje vlazi i hladnoći, loš san i ozljede. Metode liječenja u svrhu smanjenja simptoma mogu biti farmakološke i nefarmakološke prirode. Iako dosad nije pronađen idealan lijek za liječenje FM-a, neki od njih mogu ublažiti simptome. Nefarmakološki pristup za smanjenje boli i uspostavljanje ravnoteže za pacijente sa FM-om pokazao se korisnijim u primjeni. Kao najkorisniji nefarmakološki pristup za smanjenje boli i postizanje emocionalne ravnoteže pokazala se tjelovježba koju pacijenti sa FM-om također mogu provoditi art terapijom pokretom ili plesom. Novija istraživanja prikazana u radu dokazuju korisnost art terapije za pacijente sa FM-om. Spoj tjelesne, psihičke i socijalne komponente može se pronaći u umjetnosti i kroz umjetnost svaka od komponenti može dobiti novu dimenziju. Art terapija psihoterapijski je tretman u kojem terapeut pomaže pacijentu sa FM-om izraziti svoja iskustva kroz umjetnost i kreativni proces, a koji ima jasan cilj temeljen na stanju pacijentovog zdravlja. Y.van i Eijk-Hustings u istraživanju su se koristili multidisciplinarnim pristupom koji uključuje socioterapiju, fizioterapiju, psihoterapiju i kreativnu art terapiju u kojoj se objedinjuje umjetnički izražaj crtanjem, plesom ili glumom na način da pacijenti koji koriste u rehabilitaciji art terapiju modificiraju svoje stavove, mijenjaju percepciju bolesti i percepciju boli. Likovno izražavanje, terapija pokretom/plesom ili drama terapija imaju svoje metode koje će biti prikazane u radu te način kojim dopiru i modificiraju unutrašnjost pacijenta kako bi je spoznao i emocionalnom ekspresijom dobio novi pogled na nju. U radu je prikazana vrsta upitnika za mjerenje boli kako bi i art terapeuti mogli primijeniti neke od skala i pratiti smanjenje ili povećanje boli nakon primjene art terapije na pacijente sa FM-om.
