Abstract: Every day, children, young people, disabled people, underage children, elderly people with Alzheimer's disease, etc. Many people went missing, including many, and many are still missing. According to the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 59,262 children went missing in India in 2020. We propose a method that can assist police and the public by using facial recognition to speed up the search process. When a person goes missing, police can send that person's photo and keep it on file. Whenever anyone comes across a complaint, they can take a photo of that person and upload it on our portal. The facial recognition model in our system will try to find matches in the data using facial coding. The face coding of the uploaded image is done by comparing it with the face coding of the image in the database. If a match is found, the police will be notified. The app will keep track of all missing persons and when a match is found the relevant authorities in the area will be notified. In addition to the photo, the user's location at the time the video was recorded may also be useful to the police. Also children, runaway teenagers, mentally ill, Alzheimer's patients, criminals, etc. Information on all missing persons will also be classified. Many families and even governments offer rewards to people who provide information leading to disappearances. The missing person was found. We can provide information about this gift through the application. When a new photo of a missing person is uploaded to the database, all users of the app will receive a notification with the person's name, appearance, rewards offered and more. We may also combine our data with government Aadhar data, which includes biometric data that can be used in our system, if permitted. Since many mobile phones are now equipped with fingerprint sensors, fingerprint matching is also possible. In addition to all the features mentioned above, we also plan to create a child labor section where users can upload images of all child labor practices they may be engaging in and authorities will then be notified about these practices so that action can be taken.Every day, children, young people, disabled people, underage children, elderly people with Alzheimer's disease, etc. Many people went missing, including many, and many are still missing. In per-year terms, the missing inflation went from a minimum of 0.9 percentage points in Colombia and Chile, to a maximum of 7.5 percentage points in Venezuela. The missing inflation was attributed to the growing openness of the economies of these nations.

Background With the population aging, the number of people living with dementia is expected to rise, which, in turn, is expected to lead to an increase in the prevalence of missing incidents due to critical wandering. However, the estimated prevalence of missing incidents due to dementia is inconclusive in some jurisdictions and overlooked in others. Objective The aims of the study were to examine (1) the demographic, psychopathological, and environmental antecedents to missing incidents due to critical wandering among older adult MedicAlert Foundation Canada (hereinafter MedicAlert) subscribers; and (2) the characteristics and outcomes of the missing incidents. Methods This study used a retrospective descriptive design. The sample included 434 older adult MedicAlert subscribers involved in 560 missing incidents between January 2015 and July 2021. Results The sample was overrepresented by White older adults (329/425, 77.4%). MedicAlert subscribers reported missing were mostly female older adults (230/431, 53.4%), living in urban areas with at least 1 family member (277/433, 63.8%). Most of the MedicAlert subscribers (345/434, 79.5%) self-reported living with dementia. MedicAlert subscribers went missing most frequently from their private homes in the community (96/143, 67.1%), traveling on foot (248/270, 91.9%) and public transport (12/270, 4.4%), during the afternoon (262/560, 46.8%) and evening (174/560, 31.1%). Most were located by first responders (232/486, 47.7%) or Good Samaritans (224/486, 46.1%). Of the 560 missing incidents, 126 (22.5%) were repeated missing incidents. The mean time between missing incidents was 11 (SD 10.8) months. Finally, the majority of MedicAlert subscribers were returned home safely (453/500, 90.6%); and reports of harm, injuries (46/500, 9.2%), and death (1/500, 0.2%) were very low. Conclusions This study provides the prevalence of missing incidents from 1 database source. The low frequency of missing incidents may not represent populations that are not White. Despite the low number of missing incidents, the 0.2% (1/500) of cases resulting in injuries or death are devastating experiences that may be mitigated through prevention strategies.

The article is devoted to the study of certain aspects of recognizing a person as missing or declaring him dead in court. In particular, the issue of courts leaving applications in this category of cases without movement or refusing to grant such applications due to the non-compliance of the applications with the established requirements of the law was investigated. For this purpose, it was established that in accordance with part 1 of Article 46 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, a natural person may be recognized by the court as missing if there is no information about his whereabouts during one year at his place of permanent residence. According to part 1 of Article 46 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, a natural person can be declared dead by a court if there is no information about his whereabouts for three years at his place of permanent residence, and if he went missing under circumstances that threatened him with death or give reason to assume her death from a certain accident – within six months, and if it is possible to consider a natural person as having died from a certain accident or other circumstances as a result of man-made and natural emergencies – within one month after the completion of the work of a special commission formed as a result of man-made and natural emergencies character. According to Part 2 of Art. 46 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, a natural person who went missing in connection with hostilities, an armed conflict, may be declared dead by a court after the expiration of two years from the date of the end of hostilities. Taking into account the specific circumstances of the case, the court may declare a natural person dead even before the expiration of this term, but not before the expiration of six months. It was determined that Article 306 of the Code of Civil Procedure defines the requirements for the content of statements about recognizing a natural person as missing or declaring him dead. According to the results of the analysis of legislation and judicial practice, the necessity of making changes to the norm that defines the content of the statement on recognizing a person as missing or declaring him dead is substantiated, and the revision of such a norm is proposed.

The subject of forensic specialist‘s work with human remains in the aftermath of conflict has remained largely unexplored within the existing literature. Drawing upon anthropological fieldwork conducted from 2009–10 in three mortuary facilities overseen by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), this article analyses observations of and interviews with ICMP forensic specialists as a means of gaining insight into their experiences with the remains of people who went missing during the 1992–95 war in BiH. The article specifically focuses on how forensic specialists construct and maintain their professional identities within an emotionally charged situation. Through analysing forensic specialists encounters with human remains, it is argued that maintaining a professional identity requires ICMP forensic specialists to navigate between emotional attachment and engagement according to each situation.

Given the challenges of the ongoing war, the relevance of this study is conditioned by to the need to improve the practice of searching for Ukrainian citizens who went missing under special circumstances, specifically on the territory of other European states. The purpose of this study was to examine the legislative regulation of the status of missing persons and to analyse the legal regulation of relations related to the identification and search for, as well as social and legal protection of such persons. The methodological framework of the study was formed by both general scientific and special methods of scientific cognition: systemic and structural, informational, terminological, and formal logical method. Using these methods, the study highlighted the content of international and national regulatory legislation, which determines that the legal grounds for conducting a search for missing persons are the legal norms constituting the basis of international, legislative, and departmental regulations and are cumulative. The role of the International Committee of the Red Cross is analysed, and the statistics of identification of persons missing under special circumstances by this organisation was considered. Attention was focused on the activities of the International Commission on Missing Persons, which operated in various countries where the situation of missing persons during armed conflict and military operations arose. It was proved that the effectiveness of the mechanism for searching for missing persons depends on the interpretation of certain provisions of regulatory legislation, as well as on the staffing of bodies and units directly involved in the search for persons of this category. The study focused on the activities of the Commission on Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, which is a permanent advisory body of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as well as the significance of the International Commission on Missing Persons. It was concluded that the real situation in countries with ongoing armed conflicts necessitates the introduction and use of advanced digital technologies in the work on searching for missing persons. The study can serve as a basis for improving the legal framework for international cooperation in identifying missing civilians and military personnel in the territories where armed conflicts have occurred or are ongoing

The article highlights the issue of recognizing foreigners and stateless persons as missing or declaring them dead as one of the key problems facing Ukraine and the international community in connection with the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine. Thus, since February 24, 2022, more than 15,000 people, including foreigners and stateless persons, have disappeared as a result of armed aggression in the country.Based on the analysis of current normative legal acts of the national legislation, the grounds and legal consequences of recognizing a natural person as missing or declaring him dead have been determined. It was established that the last of the known personal laws of a person is of key importance in the issue under consideration. Approaches for determining the personal law of an individual are given. Attention is focused on the concept of a person who went missing under special circumstances, such as military operations and the temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine. The procedure for recognizing a natural person as missing or declaring him dead is outlined in detail. International treaties, in particular bilateral agreements of Ukraine, are considered, which regulate the issue under study, in particular, the Resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe of June 25, 2015, which is dedicated to missing persons during the armed conflict in Ukraine. The experience of foreign countries in regulating the researched issue, namely the procedures and methods of searching for missing persons, which can become a positive experience for implementation in our country, is analyzed. Ukraine is already moving towards improving this system by introducing the Unified Register of Persons Disappeared Under Special Circumstances. It found that domestic legislation provides the basis for declaring foreigners missing, but the process could be improved through cooperation with foreign governments and organizations.

Time series from weather stations in Brazil have several missing data, outliers and spurious zeroes. In order to use this dataset in risk and meteorological studies, one should take into account alternative methodologies to deal with these problems. This article describes the statistical imputation and quality control procedures applied to a database of daily precipitation from meteorological stations located in the State of Parana, Brazil. After imputation, the data went through a process of quality control to identify possible errors, such as: identical precipitation over seven consecutive days and precipitation values that differ significantly from the values in neighboring weather stations. Next, we used the extreme value theory to model agricultural drought, considering the maximum number of consecutive days with precipitation below 7 mm for the period between January and February, in the main soybean agricultural regions in the State of Parana.

Abstract In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century,1 Muslim communities in different parts of the world faced a common problem—women’s inability to obtain divorce after their husbands went missing. These women, deprived of provision (nafaqa), could neither sustain themselves financially nor remarry. In response to this situation, Muslim scholars, in their respective communities (Egypt, Ottoman Syria, British India and the Russian empire), produced legal decisions (fatwas) to facilitate women’s divorce. This paper focuses on the responses of Russia’s Islamic scholars to this problem which were collected and published by a prominent religious scholar of the Volga-Urals, Rizaeddin Fakhreddin. Among Volga-Ural Muslims, this problem was entangled with the question of religious authority under Russian imperial rule. I argue that since Russia’s legal pluralism and institutionalization of the ‘ulama under the Orenburg Muslim Spiritual Assembly were the main reasons behind the inability to solve the problem of women’s divorce from missing husbands, Fakhreddin initiated this collective deliberation as a preliminary attempt to resolve a legal issue through the consensus (ijmā‘) of legal experts within the framework of the OA. Finding a solution to the problem faced by the wives of missing husbands was inseparable from the question of the transformation of Islamic religious authority under imperial rule.

Middling youth were centre stage in research on school-to-work transitions from the early-20th century up to and throughout the 1980s. Since then they have been overshadowed by sociological attention to the young unemployed/NEETs on the one side, and university students and graduates on the other. Simultaneously, economists have been crowding out sociologists in the study of education-to-work transitions, especially in the middle ground. However, this paper argues that this is not just a case of the sociological gaze missing the middle. It is argued that old middling labour market destinations have diminished in number, and the new middle remains elusive because the employment tends to be precarious. Thus today's middling groups of school-leavers must either try to move-up or face career-long threats of descent to the bottom.

The article deals with the problems of searching missing persons and inviolability of private life of a person, namely, how proportionate, and reasonable is the publication of sensitive data of a person in the mass media when disappearance of a person reported. Analysis of the statistical indicators of the searching of missing persons gives basis for the conclusion that a significant number (80%) of persons reported as missed, in fact they are not such, but without warning their relatives were absent for various reasons – somewhere stayed late, left their place of residence for other reasons, went abroad. Nevertheless, photographs and other sensitive data of such persons are published in the mass media. Moreover, there was an opinion on the need to bring to administrative responsibility those who left the place of residence without warning their relatives. On the author’s opinion, one of the reasons for the unjustified use of the media for searching for persons and violating the privacy of a person is the poor performance of the preliminary searching measures for clarify the circumstances and causes of disappearance. The article also proposes to amend the definition of the missing person, clarify the essence of the notion of “to declare a search”, the procedure and officials authorized to declare such a search, and also introduce the category “Persons who have lost contact with relatives”.

AS THE GREAT HISTORIAN LOUIS HARTZ TAUGHT US IN HIS remarkable study The Liberal Tradition in America, anyone wishing to focus on the special character of a regime would do well to begin by taking the measure of what is absent rather than what is present. Like America, Switzerland has long been regarded as an exception to many of the conventional rules of historical and democratic development — Sonderfall Schweiz is how the Swiss portray and perhaps boast a little about their national exceptionalism. Switzerland possesses a unique form of democratic government the hallmarks of which are participatory democracy, neutrality and radical federalism (decentrahsm or localism, what the Swiss sometimes call Kantönligeist). These hallmarks give to it a character which stands in stark contrast to traditional Anglo-American democracy. The student of comparative politics will observe at once that a great many of Switzerland's leading political features seem to have no analogue in either the English common law or the American Constitution. Swiss democracy is English democracy minus most of English democracy's salient features: which is to say, it is scarcely English democracy at all.The powerful idea of natural rights as the armour of the individual against illegitimate authority (originally against the illegitimacy of absolute monarchy, later against the hyper-legitimacy of majoritarian tyranny) is largely missing, for example. Missing too is the tradition of an independent judiciary devoted to the protection of wholly private rights against an alien, power-mongering state. When Alexis de Tocqueville, whose liberal premises suited America so well, went looking in the Alps for something like the English liberties, he went astray. Not finding English liberties, he quite misunderstood Switzerland's regime.

In the current era of disruption 5.0, uploading digital information about a place to eat to social media users has become a cultural symbol that can depict a lifestyle. This phenomenon makes users afraid of missing out on the latest information and experiences, such as the emergence of Karen's Diner Jakarta restaurant, which went viral on social media. This study analyzes the phenomenon of FOMO (fear of missing out) in consumer purchasing decisions. With a quantitative approach through an online survey, this study captured 100 respondents selected based on purposive sampling. The population of this research is the people of Jakarta, who are potential consumers. Meanwhile, the sample of this research is consumers who have made purchases at Karen's Diner Restaurant. The survey instrument includes questions about FOMO variables and purchasing decisions and is measured on a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, regression test, and hypothesis t-test. The study results show that FOMO positively affects purchasing decisions by 60%. This research shows the theoretical implication that the FOMO phenomenon, which includes a person's fear and worry of missing out on something new, affects purchasing decisions. Therefore, viral marketing has a significant impact on restaurant sales. The practical implication of this research is a recommendation for food and beverage businesses maximize digital and viral marketing.

During the intermission, as I thought about the play, I became aware of a certain disappointment. Something was missing. What was more, I could see that many other people shared my feelings. I suspect that most of them, like me, were gay. This unpleasant gut reaction, which became more pronounced during the second act of the play, is difficult to define.

The legendary excavation of Mycenae’s Grave Circle A in 1876 resulted in the celebration of Heinrich and Sophia Schliemann as the sole excavators. The crucial role of Panayotis Stamatakis, the systematic and perceptive archaeologist who was assigned to supervise the excavation as a representative of the Greek state, was – for a long time – largely unacknowledged. Stamatakis’ invaluable manuscripts, where he recorded one by one all the finds and their locations, attributing them to specific burials, went missing for more than a century. Now part of the Archive of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, these manuscripts shed new light on the taphonomy and burial customs of Grave Circle A, revealing the biographies of the first Mycenaean rulers.

Since Darwin’s postulated the origin of the human species from an ape-like ancestor, the search for the missing link between ape and human had begun. In 1887, Eugene Dubois traveled from the Netherlands to Indonesia to search for the missing link. He eventually discovered human fossils in Wajak, Kedungbrubus, and Trinil to which he named Pithecanthropus erectus. The research was then continued by Ter Haar (1931) in Ngandong, Dujfyes, and his assistant, Andoyo (1936) in Perning, Mojokerto, and Von Koenigswald (1936-1940) in Sangiran, who successfully discovered many Homo erectus fossils. Since the 1960s, Sartono (ITB), T. Jacob (UGM), and Geological Research and Development Centre (Indonesia) continue the study, adding the collection of the specimens. Collaboration with the National Museum of Science and Nature, Tokyo concluded that Indonesian Homo erectus went through local evolution instead of static evolution condition. Indonesia is rich in natural resources and environmental conditions that were suitable for the evolution of early humans as shown by the discovery of several Homo erectus skeleton fossils that were not found in most other countries. This is a blessing left by early humans to us.

The paper entitled ‘Finding Out Why Bram Stoker Wrote ‘Dracula’ is actually a research work inspired by the circumstances surrounding the publication of the book. The article proposes to find out what inspired Bram Stoker to write a novel of the stature of ‘Dracula’. Reading through several manuscripts, journals and online materials one can conclude that Bram Stoker took a lot of trouble to publish his work. He researched widely and went to a lot of places before finally deciding on the location, characters and plot of ‘Dracula’. A peep into his biography, his friends and influences has also been provided in the paper. Besides, his readings are also referred to. There is a detail about how the first hundred pages went missing, how and where they were ultimately found and how they were again republished. There is a look into the Journal entries of Jonathan Harker, the main character in the novel as well. These entries corroborate the findings of Bram Stoker about the legend called ‘Dracula’ and the true elements in the book as per the stories or folk lores read by him.

Abraham Lincoln was fond of saying “killing the dog does not cure the bite” when referring to problems and their persnickety pervasiveness. When thinking about the problems facing the industrial and organizational (I-O) psychology profession, there is no greater source of frustration than the gap between a scientist's findings and the application of those findings to practice. In recent years, organizations such as the White House Behavioral Sciences unit, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation in partnership with The Economist Intelligence Unit, and many others have explored the gap between research and practice and have highlighted every major derailer, from delays associated with peer-reviewed publication cycles to a lacking infrastructure for bringing science to practitioners. In 2014, the SHRM Foundation even went so far as to implement a strategy based on driving research directly to practitioners through executive round table forums. Despite the best efforts to identify strategies for closing the gap, many organizations have failed to find the optimal means for bringing I-O psychology research to the masses of human resource (HR) practitioners and, in many cases, even I-O psychology practitioners dealing with significant organizational issues.

An organ donation is a matter of life and death in the most literal sense, meaning the Trillium Gift of Life Organ Donation Network, the regulatory body for organ donations in Ontario, is aptly named. In December of 2017, Delilah Saunders, an Inuk activist for the rights of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, went into acute liver failure and was refused a spot on their waiting list. What was the reason the Trillium network cited in refusing Ms. Saunders? She had failed to meet the requirement of a prior sixth-month period of sobriety, a sixth month period wherein she had also been called to testify on the 2014 murder of her sister Loretta at the National Inquiry on Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls. The refusal gained national media attention and sparked furious debate, especially regarding the larger issue of the discriminatory experiences of Indigenous women in the Canadian health system. This paper argues that the policy that led to the decision to refuse Delilah Saunders a liver transplant, when analyzed through the intersecting lenses of gender and settler-colonialism, displays the continued commitment of Canada to the settler-colonial logic of elimination, especially regarding Indigenous women.

Obesity stands as one of the greatest healthcare challenges of the 21st century. Obesity in reproductive-age men is ever more frequent and is reaching upsetting levels. At the same time, fertility has taken an inverse direction and is decreasing, leading to an increased demand for fertility treatments. In half of infertile couples, there is a male factor alone or combined with a female factor. Furthermore, male fertility parameters such as sperm count and concentration went on a downward spiral during the last few decades and are now approaching the minimum levels established to achieve successful fertilization. Hence, the hypothesis that obesity and deleterious effects in male reproductive health, as reflected in deterioration of sperm parameters, are somehow related is tempting. Most often, overweight and obese individuals present leptin levels directly proportional to the increased fat mass. Leptin, besides the well-described central hypothalamic effects, also acts in several peripheral organs, including the testes, thus highlighting a possible regulatory role in male reproductive function. In the last years, research focusing on leptin effects in male reproductive function has unveiled additional roles and molecular mechanisms of action for this hormone at the testicular level. Herein, we summarize the novel molecular signals linking metabolism and male reproductive function with a focus on leptin signaling, mitochondria and relevant pathways for the nutritional support of spermatogenesis.

The analysis is developed through an exploration of these examples in terms of the patterning of vision produced in recursive relations, or relations of feedback with the environment. We argue that changes in the organization of this feedback, which we describe as ‘rendition’, equip contemporary observers with both the capacity to see ‘close up at a distance’ and the capacity to be situated adjacent, next to or ‘beside from above’.

Young international backpackers frequently have new sexual partners. We conducted a pilot project of unsupervised screening for chlamydia (Chlamydia trachomatis) and gonorrhoea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae) by self-collected specimens at two backpacker hostels in Manly, Sydney. The median age was 24 years for men and 23 years for women. A new sexual partner during travel was reported by 94%, of whom only 20% always using condoms. The prevalence of chlamydia was 11.9% (14.3% of 35 men and 10.2% of 49 women). No cases of gonorrhoea were detected. Half of the dispensed testing kits went missing or were tampered with, and there was spoilage of the receptacle bins, which persisted despite a redesign to a more secure and locked box. While populations such as young backpackers may be a priority group for sexually transmissible infection screening, we advise caution for projects contemplating an unsupervised model.

PurposeThe primary aim of this study is to review the studies from different dimensions including type of methods, experimentation setup and evaluation metrics used in the novel approaches proposed for data imputation, particularly in the machine learning (ML) area. This ultimately provides an understanding about how well the proposed framework is evaluated and what type and ratio of missingness are addressed in the proposals. The review questions in this study are (1) what are the ML-based imputation methods studied and proposed during 2010–2020? (2) How the experimentation setup, characteristics of data sets and missingness are employed in these studies? (3) What metrics were used for the evaluation of imputation method?Design/methodology/approachThe review process went through the standard identification, screening and selection process. The initial search on electronic databases for missing value imputation (MVI) based on ML algorithms returned a large number of papers totaling at 2,883. Most of the papers at this stage were not exactly an MVI technique relevant to this study. The literature reviews are first scanned in the title for relevancy, and 306 literature reviews were identified as appropriate. Upon reviewing the abstract text, 151 literature reviews that are not eligible for this study are dropped. This resulted in 155 research papers suitable for full-text review. From this, 117 papers are used in assessment of the review questions.FindingsThis study shows that clustering- and instance-based algorithms are the most proposed MVI methods. Percentage of correct prediction (PCP) and root mean square error (RMSE) are most used evaluation metrics in these studies. For experimentation, majority of the studies sourced the data sets from publicly available data set repositories. A common approach is that the complete data set is set as baseline to evaluate the effectiveness of imputation on the test data sets with artificially induced missingness. The data set size and missingness ratio varied across the experimentations, while missing datatype and mechanism are pertaining to the capability of imputation. Computational expense is a concern, and experimentation using large data sets appears to be a challenge.Originality/valueIt is understood from the review that there is no single universal solution to missing data problem. Variants of ML approaches work well with the missingness based on the characteristics of the data set. Most of the methods reviewed lack generalization with regard to applicability. Another concern related to applicability is the complexity of the formulation and implementation of the algorithm. Imputations based on k-nearest neighbors (kNN) and clustering algorithms which are simple and easy to implement make it popular across various domains.

For decades, The rentier state theory has provided the most popular explanations for the sociopolitical dynamics in the Arab Gulf states, however, due to the rapid transformations in the Gulf societies in recent years, the theory went under severe critiques especially after its failure to predict the emergence of a new Gulf social contract after the oil crisis of 2014. This essay has tried to shed the light on one of the missing dimensions of these critiques by arguing that this failure might have occurred because the rentier state theory adhered to an obsolete epistemological paradigm of modernity that was incapable of dealing with such a complex social phenomenon from the beginning. Also, seeking epistemic healing, the essay highlighted the most recent shift in the philosophy of science toward a complexity paradigm and referred to its potentials to exceed the limits of the rentier paradigm.

Leporinus jamesi is distinguished from its congeners by having pectoral and pelvic fins dark, 42 to 45 scales on the lateral line, 16 scale series around the caudal peduncle, a body with two conspicuous dark midlateral blotches (the blotch on the caudal peduncle absent or inconspicuous), and four teeth on the premaxilla and dentary, including a bicuspid symphyseal tooth on the premaxilla. A principal component analysis on morphometric traits between combined samples of L. jamesi and L. amazonicus was performed showing significant morphometric differences between these species. In addition, inaccuracies in Borodin's descriptions of various species of the genus Leporinus are discussed.

ABSTRACT A serological survey in Mozambique to detect antibodies toCowdria ruminantium, the etiologic agent of heartwater, revealed a seroprevalence of 8.1% (n = 332) for goats in the northern province of Tete and of 65.6% (n = 326) for goats in the southern provinces. Translocation of 10 serologically negative goats from Tete to farms in the south resulted in two clinical cases of heartwater that were fatal. In addition, four goats seroconverted within the study period of 5 weeks. One goat showed no symptoms. Two goats died of other causes, whereas the remaining goat went missing after 1 week. Experimental needle infections of goats and sheep were conducted to confirm results and to isolate different strains of C. ruminantium. These data indicate that translocation of goats from the north to the south of Mozambique bears a high risk of C. ruminantiuminfection, which can cause fatal disease.

Objective: To analyze among newborns that required resuscitation the probability of chances between the need for advanced procedures and demographic and obstetric characteristics, use of substances and intercurrences during pregnancy. Methods: Descriptive and multivariate analytical study, carried out in a maternity hospital in the Amazon region. All medical records of newborns in 2018 were researched, and those with missing data and Cook’s distance <0,20 were excluded. The remaining were divided by the intervention performed: positive pressure ventilation or advanced maneuvers (orotracheal intubation, direct laryngoscopy, cardiac massage, drugs or CPAP mask). The variables analyzed were demographic and obstetric characteristics, use of substances and intercurrences during pregnancy. Logistic regression was used to derive unadjusted and adjusted odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals. Results: 1611 infants went through resuscitation. Out of them, 217 were excluded, due to missing data and Cook’s distance <0,20. 41,2% of the the remaining 1394 required advanced maneuvers. Adjusted odds ratio revealed significant association between needing advanced resuscitation and low gestational age (5 times higher chances), 5th minute Apgar <7 (28 times higher chances), tobacco (9 times higher chances), small for gestational age (6 times higher chances), low birth weight (4-5 times higher chances), meconium (double chances), not specified gestational intercurrences (3 times higher chances) and absence of gestational diabetes (6 times higher chances). Conclusions: Prematurity, low birth weight, 5th minute Apgar <7, small for gestational age, meconium and tobacco were associated with higher chances of advanced maneuvers.

Background: Renal artery–inferior vena cava (IVC) fistula is usually caused by penetrating injury to the back. However, it is a very rarely reported entity with only 20 cases reported in the literature. They may present acutely with hemodynamic instability or chronically as congestive heart failure. A thorough examination and adequate imaging are required to avoid missing such injuries. Case Presentation: A 28-year-old gentleman presented after sustaining stab injury to the back. The stab had penetrated the renal artery and IVC, leading to arteriovenous fistula. He was managed surgically, as he went into hemorrhagic shock, with a successful outcome. The case is also unique as an accessory renal artery was also involved in the fistula. Conclusion: Early identification and management of renal artery–IVC fistula is important to ensure a successful outcome. Such fistulas can be managed by either endovascular approach or surgical approach. The decision of approach depends on the level of expertise available and hemodynamic status of the patient.

Granted the title Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia, Hamka’s thought epitomised the idealism of daʿwah reform, and his activism symbolises the institutional configuration of daʿwah. Hamka went beyond the rhetoric slogan of Islam as a way of life when he brought tangible solutions to the problems that happen in society. The core inventory to that tangible solution, in his opinion, should start with oneself i.e. Islamisation of self, before any meaningful daʿwah can be administered to the community and institutions. This article attempts to promote Hamka’s daʿwah reform; a synergised intellectualism and activism that are missing from the contemporary da’wah orientations and led to its adversary effect on public understanding and practice of Islam.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to find the prevalence of Hypodontia and Hyperdontia in different ethnicities in patients from 7 to 14 years old.MATERIAL AND METHODS: A group of 520 children were included aged 7 to 14 years, only the children who went to primary schools. Controls were performed by professional people to preserve the criteria of orthodontic abnormalities evaluation. The data were recorded in the individual card specially formulated for this research and all the patients suspected for hypodontia and hyperdontia the orthopantomography for confirmation was made. The data were analysed using descriptive statistical analysis using c2 test for the significant difference for p ˂ 0.05 and Fisher test for p < 0.05.RESULTS: Hypodontia, not counting the patients with missing third molars was found in 18 patients researched or 3.46%. The most commonly missing teeth were the second lower premolars, the second upper premolars, second upper lateral incisors followed by the lower incisors. Hyperdontia not including the third molars was found in 4 cases of the participants or 0.76% from which the most frequent atypical tooth mesiodens and one case of bilateral hypodontia of a lateral upper incisor with typical shape and size. But there were no significant differences when tested between genders and jaws.CONCLUSION: The prevalence we found is similar to the prevalence in the region. Our findings indicate that there is a difference between the genders in the prevalence of hypodontia, but without statistical significance, while for hyperdontia we can’t see such a difference between the sexes.

The primary objective of this study was to analyse the current accuracy of targeted and systematic prostate biopsies in detecting csPCa. A secondary objective was to determine whether there are factors predicting the finding of csPCa in targeted biopsies and, if so, to explore the utility of a predictive model for csPCa detection only in targeted biopsies. We analysed 2122 men with suspected PCa, serum PSA > 3 ng/mL, and/or a suspicious digital rectal examination (DRE), who underwent targeted and systematic biopsies between 2021 and 2022. CsPCa (grade group 2 or higher) was detected in 1026 men (48.4%). Discrepancies in csPCa detection in targeted and systematic biopsies were observed in 49.6%, with 13.9% of csPCa cases being detected only in systematic biopsies and 35.7% only in targeted biopsies. A predictive model for csPCa detection only in targeted biopsies was developed from the independent predictors age (years), prostate volume (mL), PI-RADS score (3 to 5), mpMRI Tesla (1.5 vs. 3.0), TRUS-MRI fusion image technique (cognitive vs. software), and prostate biopsy route (transrectal vs. transperineal). The csPCa discrimination ability of targeted biopsies showed an AUC of 0.741 (95% CI 0.721–0.762). The avoidance rate of systematic prostate biopsies went from 0.5% without missing csPCa to 18.3% missing 4.6% of csPCa cases. We conclude that the csPCa diagnostic accuracy of targeted biopsies is higher than that of systematic biopsies. However, a significant rate of csPCa remains detected only in systematic biopsies. A predictive model for the partial omission of systematic biopsies was developed.

We review the evidence-based literature on the use of tilted implants in the rehabilitation of patients with maxillary atrophy. Studies from 1999 to 2010 on patients with atrophic maxilla rehabilitated with tilted implants were reviewed. Clinical series with at least 10 patients rehabilitated using tilted implants and a follow-up of at least 12 months after prosthetic load were included. Case reports and studies with missing data were excluded. In each study the following was assessed: surgical technique, prosthesis type, timing of implant loading, success rate and marginal bone loss of tilted and axial implants, complications and patient satisfaction level. Thirteen studies were included, reporting a total of 782 tilted and 666 axial implants in 319 patients. Success rates went from 91.3% to 100% for axial implants and from 92.1% to 100% for tilted implants; radiographic marginal bone loss went from 0.4 mm to 0.92 mm in tilted implants and from 0.35 mm to 1.21 mm in axial implants. No statistically significant differences were found in any of the studies. No surgical complications and only minor prosthetic complications were reported. High patient satisfaction was found with all types of prosthesis (full-arch fixed, partial fixed and overdentures) placed over tilted implants. The literature on tilted implants shows that implants placed with this technique, both used alone and combined with axially placed implants, and rehabilitated with different prosthetic options have high success rates, minimal complications and high patient satisfaction. However, lack of homogeneity among studies and relatively short follow-up periods for most studies make necessary more studies.
