Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOn behalf of the Railway Group at KTH the interaction between a pantograph and the overhead catenary wire was simulated and analyzed. The purpose of this was to present an improved design suggestion of the pantograph that would lead to a more even contact force at high speed operation, 300 km/h. The dynamic simulation was based on an existing pantograph, WBL 88, manufactured by Schunk and is currently used in Sweden on the highspeed train X2000. The catenary is made of copper which is spread in the environment due to wear. Since copper particles are harmful, aluminum has been studied and compared as an alternative material. The material comparison includes wear volume, conductivity, strength and environmental aspects. In order to analyze the interaction between the catenary and the pantograph, dynamic simulations were carried out in MD Adams/View 2011. During the simulations, the parameters of the pantograph have been varied to obtain an improved and more even contact force. The material comparison is based on calculations that can be related to the mechanical properties of the materials. The results of the dynamic simulation showed that by reducing the weight of the contact strip and increasing its spring stiffness and damping, the contact force became less varied and more even. The changes of the parameters lead to that the contact strip could more easily follow the catenary without losing contact. The material comparison showed that copper has better mechanical properties for the specific purpose than aluminum.
