O objetivo deste estudo é identificar, descrever e analisar as palavras e/ou expressões na função de vocativos, utilizadas por falantes do português como língua materna em situações do cotidiano, nas suas mais variadas formas de interação, a fim de facilitar ao aprendiz do Português como segunda língua a compreensão do uso de tais termos no cotidiano. A partir, basicamente, de conceitos da Antropologia Social, do Interculturalismo e da Pragmática, buscamos apresentar o uso do vocativo em linguagem informal oral, observando alguns contextos de aplicabilidade, as estratégias utilizadas pelos falantes e, ainda, o nível de adequação lingüística na comunicação intercultural.
The aim of this study is to identify, describe and analyze the words and/or expressions in the position of vocatives, used by native speakers of Portuguese in daily situations, in its varied forms of interaction, in order to help foreign learners of Portuguese during their learning process regarding such terms. Based, basically, on concepts from Social Anthropology, Interculturalism and Pragmatics, we intend to present the usage of vocatives in informal oral discourse, observing some contexts of applicability, strategies used by speakers and also, the level of linguistic appropriateness in intercultural communication. My primary concerns are what vocatives were used and how they were used in Early Modern English 'gentry' comedies. As there are of course no authentic recorded data from the period, I have investigated a collection of drama texts in the Vocative-Focussed Socio-Pragmatic Corpus. Methodologically, I take a corpus-based approach, and combine quantitative and qualitative analyses in a historical pragmatic perspective. As a consequence, my research is interdisciplinary in nature in that it pivots on several linguistic fields, i.e. historical linguistics, pragmatics, stylistics, sociolinguistics, as well as corpus linguistics. In my thesis, compiling an annotated corpus is both an end product in itself as well as data. In the Introduction, I present my research questions and the overall scope of the thesis. Chapter 2 provides a theoretical framework for the analysis of vocative by reviewing major works on address terms and politeness theory. Chapter 3 explains the annotation systems adopted in the corpus. Chapter 4 gives a general view of the distribution pattern and lexical components of vocatives in the corpus. Chapters 5-7 focus on the quantitative analysis of vocatives, in particular, the relation between the vocative form and the various attributes of the interlocutors. Chapter 8 discusses pragmatic functions of the vocatives by analysing examples in the corpus. Chapter 9 provides a case study in which shifts of vocatives are discussed from a stylistic and pragmatic perspective, using the notion of social network and the framework drawn from the analyses in the preceding chapters.

The aim of this paper is to briefly clarify the categorization and usage of kinship terms in American and British English in comparison with the Swedish kinship terms, both considering the vocative use and the referential function. There will also be a comparison with previous studies. The Swedish language contains considerably more detailed definitions for kinship. By choosing mostly informants with experience of both language cultures, this paper will investigate and explore whether English speakers themselves experience this as a lack of kinship vocabulary, and in what circumstances supplementary explanation is needed to clarify the identities of referents and addressees.  It will further be established how and when the use of such terms can give rise to misunderstandings or confusion. Kinship terms will also be considered in connection with the present social and cultural environment. Seemingly, the use of kin terms has changed over recent decades and there appears to be etymological, lexicological and semantic causes for such misunderstandings. This essay research was conducted using interviews in which informants relate their experiences of language changes as well as regional variations with respect to how family members and relatives are addressed or referred to. Kinship terms are insightful and important within the field of genealogy and have implications for diverse disciplines such as law, church history, genetics, anthropology and popular custom. Interestingly, kinship terms can be found to be used where there is no existing kinship at all. They also have a great impact on daily communication in terms of respect and relations, and as expressions of empathy, responsibility and solidarity.     Key words: American English, anthropology, British English, communication, culture, etymology, genealogy, kinship terms, referential, relations, respect, social control, Swedish, vocatives

Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar o vocativo nem, oriundo do dialeto social da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no imaginário linguístico brasileiro, a partir do conceito de Patrick Charaudeau (2008) sobre o imaginário sociodiscursivo. A perspectiva teórica abordada está centrada na Análise do Discurso. Apresenta-se, no início, o referencial teórico que embasou o estudo e, posteriormente, descreve-se o percurso da pesquisa, que contempla o corpus colhido em redes sociais de relacionamento e blogs. Além do material encontrado para a pesquisa, também foram aproveitadas algumas experiências pessoais sobre o tema, tanto em sala de aula, quanto em conversas com amigos. Durante a pesquisa, buscou-se realizar a descrição do vocábulo, a partir de breves comentários a respeito da variação linguística e preconceito linguístico, bem como sobre atitudes, crenças e imaginários. A análise conduzida demonstrou os tipos de crença negativa que circulam em determinado grupo social, bem como a construção da identidade, de alguns indivíduos das classes consideradas desprestigiadas socialmente, que pode ser percebida por determinadas atitudes dos falantes. Há algum tempo, não era observada nos falantes uma afirmação da identidade. Esse comportamento recente só pode ser analisado dessa forma, visto que este estudo aconteceu quase que em tempo real. Como resultado, a pesquisa revelou o imaginário negativo que os falantes da variedade prestigiosa da língua cultivam em relação aos usos, e aos usuários, do referido item lexical. Da mesma forma, foi observado como os usuários do vocativo se posicionavam frente à rejeição. Tais reflexões podem colaborar para os estudos linguísticos de forma a minimizar o preconceito linguístico no ensino da língua materna em relação à variedade que faz parte do dialeto desprestigiado socialmente
This study aims at analyzing the vocative Nem, original from the social dialect of the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the linguistic imaginary of the Brazilian people, based on the concept of Patrick Charaudeau (2008) about the social-discursive imaginary. The theoretical perspective approached is based on the Discourse Analysis. It is firstly presented the theoretical reference that served as base for the study, and after that, the path of the research is described, comprising the corpus collected in social relationship networks and blogs from the internet. Beyond the material gathered for researches, some personal experience on the theme is also used, in classrooms, and in conversations with friends. During the researches, the focus was the description of the vocabulary, starting from brief comments regarding the linguistic variation and prejudice, as well as attitudes, believes and imaginaries. The analysis performed has demonstrated the types of negative believes held by certain social groups, as well as the construction of identity, by some individuals of minor social classes, what can be noticed by some attitudes of the speakers. Some time ago, it was not observed an identity affirmative attitude by the speakers. This recent behavior can only be analyzed in this way, as this study was done almost live. As a result, the research revealed the negative imaginary cultivated by the speakers of the major variety of the language about the uses and users of such lexical item. It was also observed how the users of the vocative faced rejection. Such considerations can help with the linguistic studies in order to reduce linguistic prejudice in mother tongue teaching in regards to the variety of the minor social dialect

This research develops aspects of insertion within the vocativo syntax. Based on enunciation basic syntax, in which the utterance is approached from a historical perspective , the vocative can operate in two disjunction plans , namely the organization's plan of phrasal structure and plan expressible . Thus , the vocative is inserted in parsing as not only the term which functions as " call " , but also as " end support " within the sentence , because it presents the enunciative function of designating places or positions to be occupied by enunciated . This job then it shows that the vocative is not disconnected from the sentence, as generally It is addressed in more formalist perspectives of syntax. Rather, he fully integrates the syntactical body of the sentence , since the linguistic gains identity precisely in the inseparable relationship between the plans of organic structure and of enunciation.
Esta pesquisa desenvolve aspectos relativos à inserção do vocativo no âmbito da sintaxe. Com base numa sintaxe de base enunciativa, na qual a enunciação é abordada numa perspectiva histórica, o vocativo pode operar na disjunção de dois planos, a saber, o plano da organização da estrutura frasal e o plano do enunciável. Dessa maneira, o vocativo é inserido na análise sintática como, não apenas o termo que funciona como “chamamento”, mas, também, como “termo suporte” dentro da sentença, pois apresenta a função enunciativa de designar lugares, ou posições, para serem ocupados pelos enunciatários. Este trabalho mostra, então, que o vocativo não é desconectado da sentença, como geralmente é abordado nas perspectivas mais formalistas da sintaxe. Ao contrário, ele se integra totalmente ao corpo sintático da sentença, uma vez que o lingüístico ganha identidade justamente na relação indissociável entre os planos da organicidade e da enunciação.

Cette thèse a pour but de retracer la vocation pour les missions ad gentes, à travers l’étude d’un groupe de religieux français de différents ordres, en particulier les jésuites, les dominicains et les prêtres des Missions étrangères de Paris. Une première partie se penche sur la genèse d'une telle vocation : le rôle des laïcs apparaît fondamental, relayé ensuite par les ordres religieux qui incitent largement leurs membres à retrouver un « esprit apostolique » et promeuvent l'idéal missionnaire. Dans un second volet, à travers en particulier l’étude des indipetae jésuites (lettres de demandes pour les Indes), nous nous penchons sur le sujet spécifique de la « vocation », en tentant notamment d’étudier ses conséquences, les manières dont elle est discernée et les motivations qui poussent les candidats à demander la mission lointaine. Enfin, une troisième partie s’intéresse aux différentes politiques mises en place par les ordres religieux pour administrer ces vocations et choisir les futurs missionnaires
The thesis aims at studying the vocation for the missions ad gentes, starting from a group of French religious men belonging to different orders, especially the Jesuits, the Dominicans and the priests of MEP (Missions Etrangères de Paris). A first part deals with the genesis of such a vocation: the part played by the laymen appears essential, then taken in turn by the religious orders who widely encouraged their members to rediscover an “apostolic spirit”. In a second part, through the study of Jesuit indipetae (letters of requirement for India) we look into the specific subject of the “vocation” trying in particular to study its consequences, the ways in which it is discerned and the motivations which moved the candidates to ask for that mission. Finally, in a third part, we consider the politics applied by the religious orders so as to administer those vocations and choose the future missionaries

This thesis aims to describe and analyze the vocative in the syntactic structure of Brazilian Portuguese BP. In order to obtain evidences about the position of this constituent in the syntactic structure, we considered constructions in which there is cooccurrence of topics, evaluative expressions, interjections, invocations, and we compared some constructions in BP with some examples of European Portuguese EP. This comparison focuses on constructions with the particle sô, reduced form of the vocative senhor in the dialect of Minas Gerais, and the vocative particle pá, reduced form of the vocative rapaz in EP. We used as theoretical framework some hypotheses of the Minimalist Program (Chomsky, 1995), the sentential cartography (Rizzi 1997, 2004), and of the theoretical proposal of Hill (2007) and Hill & Stavrou (2013), according to which, vocatives and interjections are located on a superstructure, in the syntax-pragmatics interface, an area located above CP in a projection SAP (Speech Act Phrase). The basic order of a construction with vocative is one in which this component is located on the left of the sentence. The Portuguese language data shows that the variation in word order in the constructions with vocative is a result of the movement operations of other constituents that occur in these constructions and the vocative is always in situ. The arrangement of the constituents in these constructions influences the interpretation of the vocative: if it appears in the starting position, it works as a call function; if it appears in other positions, it is interpreted as the addressee. According to the analysis of different types of vocatives, we identify in BP that there are different types of interjections: some which express the state of mind of the speaker; and others as the particles of indirect call, that may themselves or together with a vocative works as a way of call. We noticed that the particles of indirectly call are may generally precede a calling and, if an interjection itself precedes a vocative, there will be an addressee and not a call. Therefore, in relation to the hypothesis that the interpretation of the vocative may vary according to the type of interjection that it precedes, we highlighted a bipartite typology of vocatives and interjections.
Esta tese tem por objetivo descrever e analisar o vocativo na estrutura sintática do Português Brasileiro, doravante, PB. No intuito de obter evidências a respeito da posição sintática deste constituinte, consideramos construções em que há coocorrência de tópicos, interjeições e invocações e comparamos as construções do PB com alguns exemplos do Português Europeu, doravante PE. Esta comparação centra-se em construções com a partícula sô, redução do vocativo senhor no dialeto mineiro, e a partícula vocativa pá, redução do vocativo rapaz, no PE. Como referencial teórico, adotamos alguns pressupostos do Programa Minimalista (Chomsky, 1995), a cartografia sentencial (Rizzi, 1997, 2004) e a proposta teórica de Hill (2007) & Hill & Stavrou (2013), de acordo com a qual, vocativos e interjeições são situados em uma superestrutura, na interface sintaxe-pragmática, um domínio localizado acima de CP, em uma projeção SAP (Speech Act Phrase). A ordem básica de uma construção com vocativo é aquela em que este constituinte se situa à esquerda da oração. Os dados do português evidenciam que a variação na ordem das palavras nas construções com vocativo é resultante de operações de movimento de outros constituintes que ocorrem nestas e o vocativo sempre fica in situ. A disposição dos constituintes nestas construções influencia a interpretação do vocativo: se o vocativo se situa em posição inicial, desempenha função de chamamento e, se figura em posição não final, é interpretado como destinatário. A partir da análise de diferentes tipos de vocativos, observamos que há diferentes tipos de interjeições no PB: as propriamente ditas, que expressam o estado mental do falante; e as partículas de chamamento indireto, que podem por si sós ou juntamente com um vocativo atuarem como uma forma de chamamento. Notamos que as partículas de chamamento indireto geralmente precedem um chamamento e, se uma interjeição propriamente dita preceder um vocativo, teremos um destinatário e não um chamamento. A partir da constatação de que, a interpretação do vocativo pode variar de acordo com o tipo de interjeição que o precede, evidenciamos uma tipologia bipartida de vocativos e interjeições.

Esta dissertação assume, na sua maior abrangência, a feitura de uma articulação entre a sustentação originária e constitutiva do ser humano, a manifestação concreta do sentido existencial do ato pedagógico e os seus modos de realização: dialógico, comunitário, personalista e humanista. Neste sentido, a nossa proposta passa inicialmente por uma procura do sujeito através do alcance da pessoa, do homem ao indivíduo (nas suas diversas vicissitudes), até à sua concretização numa consciência pedagógica precursora do agir, do conhecer, do sentir e, fundamentalmente, do ato de “Reconhecer”, este tido, por nós, como o processo fundamentador e fomentador de uma Pedagogia do Reconhecimento. É um percurso inovador na medida em que parte de uma Antropologia Filosófica e de uma Antroposofia, passando pelos meandros processuais da consciência lonerganiana e da fenomenologia buberiana da relação, pretendendo promover, no seu culminar, uma ambiência cultural de pedagogia dialógica inserida num topos comunitário, pressuposta e implicitamente proposta numa Teoria do Reconhecimento, que se situa na geografia disciplinar da Filosofia da Educação, e nas “Dinâmicas das Relações Interpessoais”. Temos, pois, que o seu epílogo é o reconhecimento: como resultado radical e subtil manifestado na intersubjetividade. A Pedagogia do Reconhecimento como concriação e ação vocativa está fundamentada num itinerário de estruturas idiossincráticas de sustentação do modo como “ser-aí” se faz (constrói e realiza). Partiremos da desaxialização do “Eu” tópico (anthropos) para uma estrutura transversal dialógica. Entendemos que toda a vida verdadeira é relação, afirmação buberiana que, só por si, derruba a clássica fronteira tópica e abre espaço à condição dialógica e essencial do fazer do ser humano. O papel do reconhecimento do “outro”, no homem, é um fenómeno de dialogicidade que abole as fronteiras dialéticas da pura argumentação e permite o brotar da reciprocidade; Abstract: This dissertation intends, in its greater scope, to make a link between the original and constitutive support of the human being, the concrete manifestation of pedagogical act's existential sense and its embodiments: dialogical, personalistic, communitarian and humanist. Our proposal initially goes through a search of the Self through the achievement of the person, from Man to the individual (in its various vicissitudes), till its development in a pedagogical conscience that is a precursor of action, knowing, feeling and, fundamentally, of the act of “Recognize”, as a justifying and instigating process of a Pedagogy of Recognition. It is an innovative path in the sense that it initiates itself from a Philosophical Anthropology and from an Anthroposophy and it continues through the procedural intricacies of lonerganian consciousness and buberian phenomenology of relation, intending to promote, in its culmination, a cultural ambience of dialogic pedagogy, inserted in a communitarian topos, presupposed and implicitly proposed in a Recognition Theory, that places itself in the disciplinary geography of Philosophy of Education and in the “Dynamics of Interpersonal Relationships”. Therefore, the epilogue is the recognition: as a radical and subtle outcome, expressed in the intersubjectivity. The Pedagogy of Recognition as co-creation and vocative practice is based on a route of idiosyncratic structures of support of the way in how to be there is done (built and accomplished). We start from the de-axialization of the topic “Self” (anthropos) to a transversal dialogical structure. We defend that all true life is relationship, a buberian statement that all alone drops the topical classical border and makes room for the dialogical and essential condition of doing of the human being. The role of recognition of the “other”, in Man, is a dialogical phenomenon that abolishes the dialectic borders of pure argument and allows the sprouting of reciprocity.

Nous avons exploite cet outil dans deux grands domaines d'application des couches minces, l'optique et la mecanique, en realisant des films d'argent reflechissants en evaporation assistee par faisceau d'ions argon et des revetements de nitrure de bore en evaporation de bore assistee par un bombardement ionique d'azote et en condensation d'ions issus d'une decharge alimentee en borazine. Si le bombardement ionique ameliore la densite et la duree de vie des couches d'argent dans l'air, par contre, les atomes d'argon incorpores agissent comme defauts ponctuels responsables d'une degradation de la conductivite electrique et du pouvoir reflechissant des couches. Le mecanisme de synthese du nitrure de bore a ete analyse: il est purement collisionnel tant que la stchiometrie n'a pas ete atteinte; au-dela, un processus de diffusion assistee par le bombardement ionique intervient. La durete des couches depend de leur mode d'obtention et atteint une valeur satisfaisante (neuf dans l'echelle mhos) pour l'application envisagee

La presente ricerca si colloca nel campo della traduzione audiovisiva, poiché riguarda il linguaggio filmico inglese. In particolare, lo studio si focalizzerà sul ruolo dei vocativi presenti in alcune opere cinematografiche. Il lavoro sarà dapprima eseguito sui dialoghi della versione originale e, successivamente, in quelli doppiati in italiano e in tedesco. I tre film che compongono il Corpus sono usciti negli anni ’90 e sono ambientati in epoca vittoriana: Jane Eyre, Swept from the Sea, The Piano. Le forme allocutive osservate sono soprattutto i nomi propri e gli appellativi generici. Attraverso la metodologia della Corpus Linguistics, si svolgerà un’analisi di tipo qualitativo e quantitativo. Infatti, tramite il software AntConc (Lawrence, 2004), si indagherà sul numero e sulla tipologia di occorrenze dei vocativi più frequenti nella lingua di partenza (inglese) e nelle due lingue d’arrivo (italiano e tedesco). Inoltre, si studierà l’eventuale manifestazione degli universali traduttivi (Baker, 1993), osservando contesto linguistico in cui il fenomeno si presenta. L’aspetto innovativo della ricerca consiste in una duplice analisi che coinvolge un triplice confronto. I risultati evidenzieranno una maggiore frequenza di vocativi nelle lingue doppiate e diverse classificazioni di occorrenze. Infine, saranno riportate alcune riflessioni inerenti alle strategie traduttive che sono adottate in italiano e tedesco, a seconda del contesto linguistico e culturale.
This research concerns the field of the audiovisual translation and the English movie language. In particular, the aim of the study will focus on the role of vocatives in a corpus of three films in three different languages. The chosen movies are produced in the '90s and are set in Victorian age: Jane Eyre, Swept from the Sea, The Piano. The empirical process will manly consider two categories of vocatives: proper names and address terms. The study approach will be based on the Corpus Linguistics methodology, in order to get a qualitative and a quantitative analysis of the vocatives. Indeed, there will be an investigation on the number and the type of occurrences involving the most frequent vocatives, both in the source language (English), and in the two target languages (Italian and German). Another important task of the research is the observation of translation universals (Baker, 1993), and the linguistic context in which the phenomenon occurs. The innovative feature of this work is a twofold analysis, which involves a three-way comparison. The results will show a higher frequency of vocatives in the dubbed languages and also different classifications of occurrences. Eventually, there will be some consideration regarding the translation strategies adopted for Italian and German, depending on their linguistic and cultural context.

The Information Age is revolutionizing the way we communicate, acquire knowledge, and perform work. Society is shifting from occupations rooted in industrial production to those associated with knowledge and information, requiring the development of new skills for changing occupations and updating old educational methods. Educators need to be aware of economic and social changes and have a vision for how to design career education to respond to those changes. Individuals must also be prepared to learn on their own as careers evolve and change. The training necessary to adapt to the changing career culture needs to be made available to everyone, regardless of social class and background. In order to learn how to help students prepare for life, it is necessary to understand their views on careers. There is a critical and acute need to understand the perceptions of students from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as Upward Bound participants (identified by the U.S. Department of Education as part of the TRIO Program for low-income and first generation college students). This study used Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) to access representations of students' thinking by means of a repertory-test grid methodology. Using the traditional constructivist repertory-test method, a custom designed instrument called the WOAR (Weingarten Occupational Awareness Rep-test) was used by students in a Utah Valley State College Upward Bound group to generate constructs for personally identified occupations. These constructs provided the data for a qualitative content analysis designed to better understand how marginalized students construct careers and the world of work. The resulting analysis reflected the students' perceptions about (a) what their life experiences were, (b) what they had in common with one another, and (c) what they had in common with the rest of the population at large, in terms of career knowledge. The findings showed that the students were influenced by people they knew such as doctors, teachers, church leaders and so on, as indicated by the career choices they identified. They were also affected by their unique experiences such as identifying drug dealing and other illegal means as a way of earning money. The collective responses identified sixteen common career themes among the students.

En terre de chrétienté, calviniste (les Cévennes) ou catholique (reste du Gévaudan-Lozère), une forte minorité s'est spécialisée dans la migration à vocation religieuse : refugiés huguenots après 1685, prédicants, prophètes et pasteurs, voire instituteurs en Cévennes, prêtres, frères, religieuses ou missionnaires ailleurs. Alors que la sécularisation du protestantisme autorise une entrée réussie en république, un catholicisme obsidional (depuis 1791) se dresse face à la modernité et jouit d'une inflation sans précédent de vocations, que nourrissent l'exil interieur, l'offre cléricale d'enseignement et de promotion, les intérêts complémentaires de l'église et des familles, et l'obsession renouvelée de la mort avunculaire ou dynastique. La vocation s'accumule dans des lignages privilegiés (terres, lettres, mandats et "appels") ; elle se mondialise (missions et refuges après les lois de 1880 et 1901-1904). La fécondité de la "terre des prêtres" s'épuise au XXe siecle ainsi que la spécialisation migratoire, scolaire ou politique des deux Lozère (ou des deux France). The present study aims to research the vocative in constructions of the Brazilian Portuguese (BP) from the 19th and the 20th centuries. We attempt to describe, justify and analyze the conditions under which this phrase occurs in the sentences, using to achieve that propose a theoretical frame that reconciles the Theory of Variation and Linguistic Change (Weinreich, Labov e Herzog (1968) and Labov (1972, 1982, 1994)) and version of Principles and Parameters form the Generative Grammar (Tarallo & Kato, 1989) Kroch (1989), Ramos (1992), Chomsky, (1995, 2005)). Since there is a remarkable lack of studies concerning the vocative, the general aim of this dissertation is to expand the existing knowledge on this matter. Our hypothesis is that this is a change process in Brazilian Portuguese involving the positions of placing the vocative in the sentence, namely, [Voc + Clause], [Clause + Voc] and [Clause + Voc + Clause]. Our study subject is therefore the syntactic behavior of this phrase in the sentence. The corpus used consists of dialogues from plays written by Brazilian authors in the 19th and the 20th centuries. This choice is due to the fact that the selected dialoguesrepresent the characters speech. It was noticed a change concerning a variety of positions of placing the vocative in the sentence. It was found that the order [Clause + Voc] presents an upward profile, with the highest occurrence rate in the second half of the 20th century. This profile isillustrated by a curve in S and, therefore, it is an indicative of linguistic change. Once identified the preference for a new order, we collected evidence for the Constant Rate Effect (Kroch, 1989).The description of the syntactic structure in which the vocative is inserted was made from the comparison of this phrasess syntactic behavior with the behavior of others (focus, topic and dislocated constituents). According to our hypothesis, the vocative is generated in the region called by Rizzi (1997) as the left periphery of the sentence; it may also be moved within that region (for the category Foc P).
O presente trabalho tem por fim investigar o vocativo em construções do Português do Brasil (PB) dos séculos XIX e XX. Busca-se, descrever, justificar e analisar as condições sob as quais este sintagma se realiza nas sentenças, utilizando um quadro teórico que concilia noções da Teoria da Variação e Mudança (Weinreich, Labov e Herzog (1968) e Labov (1972, 1982, 1994)) e noções da versão de Princípios e Parâmetros da Gramática Gerativa (Tarallo & Kato (1989), Kroch (1989), Ramos (1992), Chomsky, (1995, 2005)). Uma vez que é notável a escassez de estudos sobre o vocativo, o objetivo geral desta dissertação é ampliar o conhecimento já existente sobre este tema. Nossa hipótese é que se trata de uma mudança em progresso no Português Brasileiro envolvendo as posições de colocação do vocativo na oração, a saber, [Voc + Or], [Or + Voc] e [Or + Voc + Or]. Nosso objeto de estudo é, portanto, o comportamento sintático desse sintagma na sentença. O corpus utilizado é constituído por diálogos de peças teatrais escritas por autores brasileiros nos séculos XIX e XX. A escolha desses diálogos se deve ao fato de representarem a fala das personagens. Constatamos um processo de mudança envolvendo as diferentes posições de colocação do vocativo na oração. Foi verificado que a ordem [Or + Voc] apresenta perfil ascendente, com maior índice de ocorrência na segunda metade do século XX. Esse perfil é ilustrado por uma curva em S, sendo, portanto, indicativo de mudança lingüística. Uma vez identificada a preferência por uma nova ordem, desenvolvemos evidência para a Hipótese da Proporção Constante (Kroch, 1989). A descrição da estrutura sintática em que a construção com vocativo se realiza foi feita a partir da comparação do comportamento sintático deste item com o de outros constituintes (foco, tópico e constituintes deslocados). De acordo com a nossa hipótese, o vocativo é gerado na região que Rizzi (1997) chama de periferia esquerda da sentença podendo, ainda, ser movido dentro desta região (para a categoria Foc P).

In recent years a controversy has arisen in the scholarship dealing with St. Anselm of Canterbury. Since R. W. Southern published his biography of Anselm, his views have been widely accepted. In his view, Anselm was a devout monk who spent his life contemplating, with clear insight, profound theological issues. Forced to accept the Archbishopric of Canterbury, Anselm was never content with his responsibilities and longed to return to the simple life of a monk. The result was that Anselm blundered his way through conflicts with the Kings of England, William Rufus and Henry I. Because of his inability to handle himself in political spheres, Anselm was forced into exile twice. Within the last decade, however, Sally N. Vaughn has challenged Southern's prevailing views with a re-examination of the sources. In her opinion, Anselm was an astute politician who determined, early on, that he was destined to be Archbishop of Canterbury. Vaughn tries to show that Anselm carefully orchestrated events so that he was in fact elected to the position. Sally Vaughn's Anselm is very different from the contemplative monk of Southern's book. The controversy now centres on whether or not a devout contemplative monk could also be an astute politician while still maintaining an other-wordly detachment. This is the view of Eadmer, Anselm's companion and first biographer. Southern and Vaughn's views, while defensible from the sources, both fail to recognise, unlike Eadmer, the compatibility of vocations as an archbishop and a monk. This thesis will re-examine the sources--Eadmer's biographies and Anselm's writings--to show that Eadmer's view is the correct one. Anselm clearly transferred his intellectual powers into his monastic vocation and from there used his principles as a guiding force of his episcopacy.

Este estudo tem por objetivo descrever quando se empregam possessivos sem valor de posse, em estruturas vocativas, tais como as formas destacadas entre aspas no título deste, a fim de verificar qual é a relação semântica existente em estruturas desse tipo. A revisão da Literatura está baseada em Neves (2000), Bechara (2006) e Cunha Cintra (2008). A fundamentação teórica concentra-se nos conceitos de face (Goffman, 2001) e de polidez (Brown e Levinson, 1987), da Pragmática; de casa e de rua (DaMatta, 2004), da Antropologia Social e de individualismo e coletivismo (Hofstede, 1999), do Interculturalismo. A realização de um questionário com 34 informantes a fim de conhecer como falantes nativos de português brasileiro afirmam usar tais pronomes é o principal instrumento de pesquisa utilizado. A falas apresentadas em tiras cômicas do blog www.mulherde30.com, da cartunista Cibele Santos, compõe o corpus principal de análise. Os resultados apontam para a sistematização dos critérios de usos dos possessivos sem valor de posse em vocativos por meio de expressões formulaicas (Alencar, 2004), a fim de proporcionar subsídios ao professor de PL2E.
Este estudio tiene por objetivo describir cuándo se emplean posesivos sin valor de posesión, en estructuras vocativa, tales como las formas destacadas entre comillas en su título, a fin de averiguar cuál es la relación semántica existente en estructuras de ese tipo. Comment peut-on être policier ? C'est à cette question que tente de répondre cette thèse qui se propose d'analyser à la fois les processus de construction de l'attrait pour le métier de gardien de la paix et les modalités de la sélection des candidats. Elle s'intéresse d'abord aux droits d'entrée dont doivent s'acquitter les candidats. Bien que la nature et le « montant » de ces droits d'entrée fassent l'objet d'une définition officielle, le jugement des gatekeepersde l'institution est, en pratique, inapte à garantir la conformité des recrues auxexigences spécifiques du poste. En ce sens, les opérations de recrutement paraissent constituer un moment critique pour la stabilité de l'institution. Les processus qui conduisent à l'émergence et à la consolidation d'une vocation policière ont cependant pour effet de fabriquer des candidats biens disposés à l'égard de l'institution, prêts à se rendre compatibles. Ainsi, la police nationale constitue moins l'objet d'étude que le terrain d'investigation de cette thèse, qui propose une contribution à l'analyse des processus de reproduction des institutions engagées dans la mise en oeuvre de l'action publique
How can one be a police constable ? This thesis tries to answer this question by analysing the building process of attraction to police jobs and the procedures for selecting the candidates. It deals first with the entrance fee candidates must pay. Although the nature and the amount of this fee is officially defined, the sentence pronounced by the gate-keepers of the institution is, in fact, unable to ensure the compatility of the recruits with the requirements of the position. Recruitment actions can be seen, therefore, as a critical moment for the stability of the institution. However, the rise and consolidation of the vocation for police jobs make candidates socially prepared to comply with the institution.The police is more the inquiry field than the object of this thesis, that propounds a contribution to the analysis of the reproduction of institutions involved in public policy

Cette thèse analyse le traitement public du chômage artistique en France. Elle prend pour objet deux dispositifs publics spécialisés, qui visent le « retour à l’emploi » d’artistes demandeurs d’emploi et/ou allocataires du RSA : l’un relève de la politique nationale de l’emploi (ANPE puis Pôle emploi spectacle), l’autre de la politique sociale départementale (RMI puis RSA artiste). L’enquête, socio-historique et ethnographique, a été conduite à Paris et en Gironde entre 2010 et 2014. Elle a permis de récolter un matériau diversifié, composé d’archives administratives, d’entretiens et d’observations, à tous les niveaux de l’action publique – ministères et élus locaux, experts et partenaires institutionnels, cadres territoriaux, street-level bureaucrats et usagers. La spécialisation sectorielle d’une action publique généraliste accentue les tensions relatives à l’organisation institutionnelle, à la formalisation des rôles professionnels et au traitement ordinaire des usagers. D’un côté, les agents de l’administration des vocations tentent d’adapter des usagers suspectés d’onirisme à la « réalité » du marché de l’emploi. De l’autre côté, ils s’efforcent eux-mêmes de se conformer au fonctionnement d’un domaine d’activités peu porté vers l’intermédiation publique. L’incongruité du rapprochement entre logique bureaucratique standardisée et impératif artistique de singularisation permet de renouveler l’analyse de l’individualisation d’un traitement de masse, caractéristique structurante de la régulation politique des rapports sociaux
This thesis analyses the public handling of unemployment in the French arts sector. It examines two specialised public schemes devoted to the ‘return to work’ of artists living on welfare benefits. One pertains to national employment policy (ANPE agency, then Pôle emploi spectacle), while the other falls under departmental welfare policy (RMI, then RSA artiste). Socio-historical and ethnographic research was conducted in Paris and in the department of Gironde between 2010 and 2014. The resulting material is varied, including administrative archives, interviews and observations at all public policy levels – with ministers and local representatives, experts and institutional partners, civil service managers, street-level bureaucrats and clients. The sectoral specialisation of a generalist public policy increases tensions surrounding the institutional organisation, the formalisation of professional roles, and everyday interactions with clients. On the one hand, the agents of this administration of vocations tend to seek to adjust clients often suspected of being dreamers to the ‘reality’ of the job market. On the other, they make efforts themselves to adjust to the workings of a field of activity where public intermediation is not well perceived. This unlikely balance between a standardized bureaucratic rationale and the artistic imperative of singularity sheds new light on the analysis of the individualization of a mass treatment, which is a structuring feature of the political regulation of social relations

Les récents modèles d'intonation du français (Philippe Martin) ont mis en évidence l'existence d'une macro-syntaxe du discours à l'oral (Blanche-Benveniste). L'application de ces modèles à la tournure rhétorique appelée " apostrophe " apporte plusieurs éclairages sur le fonctionnement de cette tournure. Notamment, elle permet d'expliquer la distinction entre apostrophe référentielle (du type de l'appel) et apostrophe prédicative (du type de l'insulte). Fort de ces résultats, l'étude de la parole parlée fournit alors un compendium d'observations et d'outils applicables au matériel de la linguistique historique.

La naissance des Eglises locales en Afrique, disons-le, est sans conteste l’œuvre première de vaillants missionnaires parfois désintéressés. La mise en place des premières structures sociales et chrétiennes est là pour le démontrer. Dans le cas du Gabon, ce privilège revient au Père Jean Rémy Bessieux et à ses nombreux successeurs. A court, moyen ou long terme, le mission chrétienne devait laisser la place à une organisation autochtone. Toutefois, une lecture attentive de ce passage de flambeau nous laisse comprendre que le chemin a été long et difficile. Dans bien des cas, la mise en place de l’Eglise locale au Gabon s’est souvent avérée plus évidente dans les dires que dans les faits. Contrairement à une certaine historiographie édifiante et apologétique habituée à nous présenter la création du clergé local comme une volonté héroïque et sans conditions des missionnaires, les sources nous indiquent plutôt que les indigènes, avec la première génération de prêtres gabonais ont été des agents précieux dans cette entreprise. La splendide croissance de l’Eglise catholique au Gabon dès le milieu du XXè siècle a été couronnée par l’élévation de l’ancien vicariat en diocèse autonome en 1958 et l’ordination de plusieurs évêques nationaux, formant désormais la hiérarchie locale. En quelque temps, l’Eglise catholique connaissait un développement rapide. Cela était un fait remarquable à tous points de vue, même si en réalité des problèmes cruciaux persistent. Si on considère l’épiscopat de certains nationaux comme un fait indéniable de la croissance de l’Eglise, il ne faut cependant pas oublier d’autres faits comme l’augmentation du nombre de circonscriptions ecclésiastiques, la croissance du nombre de membres autochtones du clergé, de séminaristes et de candidats dans les instituts de vie consacrée, sans omettre l’extension progressive du réseau de catéchistes et de laïcs, dont on sait le rôle dans la diffusion de l’évangile parmi les population gabonaises. Certes, les sources nous décrivent une évolution progressive de l’Eglise locale, mais elles nous présentent aussi une Eglise face à un certain nombre de dangers. Dès 1970, on assiste à des problèmes liés aux revendications de plusieurs clercs locaux. Au début des années 80, c’est face à une Eglise parsemée de difficultés diverses que Sa Sainteté Jean Paul II rend visite en 1982
The birth of the local churches in Africa is unquestionably the first work of brave sometime made lose interest missionaries. The setting of the first social and Christian structures is here to show it. Concerning Gabon, Father Jean Remy Bessieux and his several successors enjoyed this priviledge. In short; average or long term, the christian missions had to leave the place to an autochthonous organization. However, an attentive reading of this passage of torch lets us understand that the road was long and difficult. In many case, the setting of the local church in Gabon often turned out more evident in the statements than in the facts. Contrary to a certain edifying and apologetic historiography which used to show the creation of the local clergy as a heroic will, and without any conditions from the missionaries, sources rather point out that the native have been some very precious factors in this enterprise with the first generation of Gabonese priests. The magnificent growth of the Roman Catholic Church in the Gabon from the middle of the XXth century was crowned by the rise of the former vicariate in autonomous diocese in 1958 and the ordination of several national bishops, forming henceforth the local hierarchy. From all sides, it appeared as a remarkable fact, even if some crucial problems are persisting. If one considers the episcopate of some native as an unmistakable fact of the growth of the church, you should not however forget the other facts as the increase in the number of aboriginal members of clergy, of seminarists and candidates in the institutes of consecrated life. Moreover, one should not omit the progressive expansion of the catechists and laics, of which have knows the role mattering in the broadcasting of the gospel among the Gabonese peoples. Indeed sources are describing a progressive evolution of the local church, but also show a church facing a certain number of dangers. From 1970, we attend problems connected to the demands of several local clerks. In the beginning of the 80s, it is in front of one church strewed with diverses difficulties that his Holiness, Jean Paul II visits in 1982

The purpose of final work for master‘s degree is to examine the legal basis of seasonal work in the Republic of Lithuania, to estimate the particular regulatory features of seasonal work, to underline the main problems, to give recommendations and conclusions. The purpose of final work for master‘s degree is elaborated by setting problems that determined the following structure of final work for master‘s degree: in the first part of work the author analyses the theoretic aspects of seasonal work that are concerned with the concept of seasonal work and the labour contracts for seasonal work and their fundamental features; in the second part of final work for master‘s degree the author gives particular regulatory features for seasonal work in the Republic of Lithuania (making labour contracts for seasonal work, changing and breaking them, working hours and the time of breaks, the salary, also there is provided the analysis of seasonal, temporal, and terminal labour contracts).

En esta tesina trataremos el doblaje español de la película Green Street Hooligans y mediante una investigación cualitativa estudiamos cómo las elecciones generales, entratar el habla de los personajes, y las elecciones específicas, cómo se han manejado los saludos, han afectado la percepción de dos personajes escogidos y la película en sí. Los resultados que han sido revelados es que los rasgos tanto dialectales como idiolectales han sido normalizados a un español estándar y esto ha contribuido en crear un estilo, en la versión española, que es menos vívido, más formal, y menos conectado con los personajes que la versión original. Por eso, la vista que pueden tener los espectadores españoles al ver la película se diferencia mucho de la que pueden tener quienes que venla película en inglés. Esto ya que no van a poder sobreentender la pertenencia a una clase social, origen espacial y el estilo personal de los personajes solamente viendo la versión doblada de la película.

For years, we are in the middle of a crisis of scientific and technological vocations, which is found year after year in the number of students enrolled in science and technology studies. If that trend continues, there will be a lack of qualified professionals to meet future labour demands in these sectors, as well as the scientific literacy of the citizens could be jeopardized. Entities and institutions throughout the country have promoted actions and initiatives focused on addressing the current crisis of scientific and technical vocations. In general, they are about dissemination activities that bring science and technology closer to society and initiatives that want to introduce a methodological change, with the objective of improving the teaching of science and technology. However, very few studies evaluate and quantify the impact of these actions in terms of vocations. The research developed in this doctoral thesis has focused on studying the quality and impact of three initiatives that have the common purpose of encouraging scientific-technical vocations among pre-university students: the EXPLORA courses, including the courses of the Nature Summer Catalan University, the Knowledge Fair and the project Activities with the Exploratori. The Knowledge Fair is a scientific communication event, while the EXPLORA courses and the Activities with the Exploratori project promote some methodologies for teaching/learning in science and technology. All of them are organized by the Exploratori: Natural Resources and take the natural resources and their technological exploitation as a guiding thread. The chosen research design consisted of taking measures before and after the actions to evaluate the differences. However, since the characteristics and format of the three actions are very different, the type of research done was differentiated in each separated case. The evaluation of the EXPLORA courses has been based on a descriptive non-experimental research design, that of the Knowledge Fair in a pre-test-post-test quasi-experimental design and, finally, the quantitative evaluation of the impact of the Activities with the Exploratori project was based on a pre-test-post-test quasi-experimental design with control groups. The study of this last action is completed by a qualitative research technique; the discussion groups. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, distributed to all the participants in the actions object of study during the academic years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. The information collected through the questionnaires was stored and managed in a database specifically designed for this purpose. Quantitative data were estimated using statistical techniques of a univariate type (frequency distributions, descriptive position and dispersion characteristics, etc.), bivariate (Pearson¿s chi-squared test, Student¿s t-test, etc.) and multivariate (multiple and logistic regression analysis). The statistical analysis of the data collected confirms that the actions studied had a certain impact on the participants in many evaluated aspects. The EXPLORA courses provided knowledge, information and useful ideas which will be favourably impact in the teaching of the secondary school teachers. In addition, the secondary school teachers who attended the EXPLORA courses will contribute to making the subjects of the STEM area more attractive. The Knowledge Fair was able to encourage some of the students to continue studying in the future in the scientific or technological field. The study of the Activities with the Exploratori project, in which more complex statistical techniques have been applied, shows that some of the students who participated in the project made the decision to choose a career in the STEM field at the end of the study, and the reason of this choice was the participation in the activities of the project.
Des de fa anys, ens trobem enmig d'una crisi de vocacions científiques i tecnològiques, que es constata any rere any en el nombre d'estudiants que es matriculen en carreres de ciència i tecnologia. Si segueix la tendència actual, hi podria haver una manca de professionals qualificats per cobrir les futures demandes laborals d'aquests sectors i es podria posar en risc l'alfabetització científica dels ciutadans. Entitats i institucions d'arreu del territori han impulsat accions i iniciatives per redreçar la crisi de vocacions cientificotècniques. En general es tracten d'accions de divulgació que apropen la ciència i la tecnologia a la societat i d'iniciatives que volen introduir un canvi metodològic a l'aula, amb l'objectiu de millorar l'ensenyament de la ciència i la tecnologia. Tanmateix, molt pocs estudis avaluen i quantifiquen l'impacte d'aquestes accions en termes de vocacions. La recerca desenvolupada en aquesta tesi doctoral s'ha centrat en estudiar la qualitat i l'impacte de tres iniciatives que tenen com a finalitat comuna incentivar les vocacions cientificotècniques entre els estudiants preuniversitaris: els cursos EXPLORA, incloent-hi els cursos de la Universitat Catalana d'Estiu de la Natura, la Fira del Coneixement i el projecte Activitats amb l'Exploratori. La Fira del Coneixement és un esdeveniment de comunicació científica, mentre que els cursos EXPLORA i el projecte Activitats amb l'Exploratori promouen unes metodologies singulars d'ensenyament/aprenentatge de la ciència i la tecnologia. Totes elles són organitzades per l'Exploratori dels Recursos de la Natura i prenen com a fil conductor els recursos naturals i el seu aprofitament tecnològic. El disseny d'investigació escollit ha consistit en prendre mesures abans i després de les accions per posteriorment avaluar-ne les diferències. No obstant això, com que les característiques i el format de les tres accions són ben diferents, la modalitat de la investigació ha estat diferent en cada cas. L'avaluació dels cursos EXPLORA s'ha basat en un disseny de recerca no experimental de caire descriptiu, la de la Fira del Coneixement en un disseny quasiexperimental de pretest-posttest i, finalment, l'avaluació del projecte Activitats amb l'Exploratori s'ha basat en un disseny quasiexperimental de pretest-posttest amb grups de comparació. L'estudi d'aquesta darrera acció es completa amb una tècnica d'investigació qualitativa; els grups de discussió. La recollida de dades es va realitzar a través de qüestionaris, repartits a tots els participants a les accions d'estudi durant els cursos acadèmics 2013-2014 i 2014-2015. La informació recollida es va emmagatzemar i gestionar en una base de dades dissenyada específicament amb aquesta finalitat. Les dades quantitatives s'han estimat amb tècniques estadístiques de tipus univariant (distribucions de freqüències, característiques descriptives de posició i de dispersió, etc.), bivariant (prova khi quadrat de Pearson, la t de Student, etc.) i multivariant (anàlisi de regressió múltiple i logística binària múltiple). L'anàlisi estadística de les dades recollides confirma que les accions estudiades van tenir un cert impacte en els participants en molts aspectes avaluats. Els cursos EXPLORA van aportar coneixements, informació i idees útils que revertiran favorablement en la docència dels professors de secundària que van assistir-hi i a fer més atractives les assignatures de l'àmbit STEM; i no només pel que fa a als continguts que van aprendre, sinó també a l'enfocament interdisciplinari que caracteritza aquests cursos. La Fira del Coneixement va aconseguir animar a alguns dels estudiants a seguir estudiant en un futur dins l'àmbit científic o tecnològic. L'estudi del projecte Activitats amb l'Exploratori demostra que alguns dels alumnes que van participar al projecte van prendre la decisió d'escollir una carrera en l'àmbit STEM al final de l'estudi i que la causa d'aquesta va ser la participació a les activitats del projecte.

Les enquêtes religieuses réalisées après la Seconde Guerre mondiale soulignent le dynamisme du diocèse d’Annecy. Toutefois, aucune étude n’a été menée jusqu’à présent sur le sujet. C’est pourquoi il semble intéressant d’étudier son évolution entre la Séparation (1905) et le Concile Vatican II (1962) par une démarche monographique. Cette longue durée, couvrant intégralement trois épiscopats, permet ainsi une meilleure appréciation de l’évolution du diocèse dans sa pratique, mais également dans sa vitalité religieuse. La mise en place de la loi de Séparation pose un certain nombre de problèmes, mais donne également l’occasion de souligner le « catholicisme bleu » du diocèse. Les laïcs apparaissent alors sur le devant de la scène, favorisant ainsi l’éclosion des mouvements d’action catholique qui progressent tout au long de la période, et ce malgré les deux guerres mondiales. Ils contribuent ainsi à entretenir le dynamisme diocésain même si le rôle des évêques et du clergé ne doit pas être négligé. Cet élan ne doit toutefois pas faire oublier les tensions qui apparaissent autour d’un certain nombre de mouvements et des enjeux politiques. Entre 1939 et 1945, le diocèse se distingue par le rôle d’un certain nombre de ses prêtres qui apportent leur aide à la Résistance, tout comme les laïcs nombreux à rejoindre les rangs de l’armée des Ombres, mais également par l’assassinat de prêtres accusés de collaboration.Les vocations sont un centre d’intérêt constant tout au long de la période et les efforts menés dès le début de l’étude permettent au diocèse de ne pas connaître trop rapidement la crise du sacerdoce. Les années d’après-guerre sont tournées à la fois vers les vocations, l’école libre, qui reste un sujet de préoccupation, mais aussi vers les nouvelles formes de la pastorale. La mise en place de ces dernières sont concomitantes des enquêtes de sociologie et des missions régionales qui permettent d’obtenir une photographie du diocèse à la veille du Concile
The religious surveys made after the Second World War stress the dynamism of the Diocese of Annecy. However this matter has not been examined until now. That is why it seems interesting to study its evolution between the separation of Church and State (1905) and Council Vatican II (1962) using a monographic approach.The enforcement of the Law of " Separation" raised some problems but also gave the opportunity to stress " The Blue Catholicism " of the diocese. As a consequence, Laymen appeared on the Front of the Stage, inducing the rising of Catholic movements which grew throughout this period inspire of the two World Wars. This helped to maintain the dynamism of the Diocese thought the part played by the bishops and the clergy must not be forgotten. However, inspire of the impulse, we can notice a tension between catholic movements and political stakes. Between 1939 and 1945, we must remember the part played by several priests who helped the French Resistance movement. Numerous laymen joined The " Army of the Shadows " and some priests suspected of being collaborationists were murdered. Throughout this period, the efforts made from the beginning of the study, allowed the diocese not to know too quickly the Crisis of priesthood related with calls to the Church. After the war, these were the main concerts as well as religious schools and the news forms of the Pastoral concomitant with sociological surveys and local missions which gives us a photography of the diocese on the eve of the Council

This study explores theoretical issues on a syntax of vocatives (VocP) in Taiwanese Mandarin (TM). The analysis is based primarily on data extracted from corpus, but also from novel texts. Vocatives are forms and structures used for direct address between collocutors. Within the framework of speech act phrase, we propose that imposters, expressives and dedicated vocative constructions are different practices of VocP in TM. The distribution of VocP motivates the idea that VocP is in a specific extra-sentential maximal projection. From the cartographic perspective, we account for the syntactic non-integration encoded to utterance-peripheral properties by means of the syntax-pragmatics interface. Concerning invariant ordering of VocP and other functional elements, such as TopP and FocP, it is argued that VocP is based-generated in the CP zone and occupies the outermost position among grammatical categories. Vocatives in English and TM display structural similarities on the informational organization of the sentence, yet we find also formal difference between them. Ultimately, it is shown that VocP, with a situation more complex than what is typically described in Chinese literature and pedagogical grammar, can be analyzed as a core category of syntax.

The thesis presents several so far unnoticed functions of (not only) Latin vocative. It argues against previous believes that vocative is used either for addresses, calls and summons, evaluation of addressee and emphasis, or is otherwise only conventional, polite, and thus lacking any real function. Firstly, the author describes vocative from the Speech Act Theory view-point and offers definitions of speech acts call and address. In chapters 3 and 4, he pays attention to vocatives so far considered as lacking function. Relying on the analysis mostly of Cicero's speeches and old Roman comedies, he presents two crucial functions of vocative in non-initial position in a text: 1) vocative as a mean of cohesion which helps to make the organization of the text more transparent and which emphasizes the structure of the text; 2) vocative of assurance/guarantee. When parents would like to take their children out for entertainment on holidays, they will consider amusement parks as one of the best choices. Though, In Taiwan, there are a number of amusement parks for kids, however, none will provide them with vocational experience in the process of entertainment. Nevertheless, the vocation–oriented amusement parks have been prevalent for many years. The type of entertainment parks is mainly focused on vocational experiences, in which children will be able to choose one of careers they prefer to experience, without parental interference. The purpose of the research is to realize how much parents will accept the new type of vocation–oriented amusement parks in Taiwan. This study conducts a survey to about the parents living in Taipei with aged 3-15 children. There are two ways to collect the data, one from kindergartens and day-care centers and the other is from amusement parks. The total number of the questionnaires is 616. Within 565 questionnaires returned, there are only valid 539 ones. In statistical analysis, this study segments the market by children’s behavior of amusement and consumption. The purpose of this study is to realize the correlation between the behavior of children’s amusement and the consumption of vocation–oriented amusement parks. According to the statistical analysis, the parents can be distinguished into three types, including “baby first”, “rational amusement”, and the “economical entertainment.” The group of “baby first” takes a positive attitude to their children’s entertainment, and they have more flexible budget in children’s entertainment and higher acceptance in the vocational experience park. The group of “rational amusement” shows rational thinking in the budget of children’s entertainment, and they have relatively lower acceptance. Finally, the group of “economical entertainment” shows the lowest acceptance over this type of consumption in terms of attitude and budget. Because the third group is not the focus clients, their attitude toward the consumption over vocation-oriented amusement parks were not discussed in the paper.

The thesis presents semantic and pragmatic characteristics that must be taken into account in vocabulary recording of the status vocatives. An ideographic dictionary entry should reflect the word vocative function as communicative-pragmatic props. Word ideographic implementation is a contributing factor that influences the realization of the vocative function. The use of the ideographic dictionaries’ data helps to implement those word classes the lexicalized syntactic function of vocativity. Appeal to corpus data allows to follow the dynamics in use of vocative forms, and also to elicit special grammar aspects of lexical items that are being used as vocatives. It is important to include illustrative examples of vocative function realization into the dictionary entries for the learners of Russian as a foreign language. This thesis deals with the characteristic of macro- and microstructures of the description of status vocatives in a dictionary and with the bases of the ideographic approach to the vocatives. The ways of semantisation of vocatives in a dictionary are presented in an example of a dictionary entry.
В диссертации рассматриваются семантические и прагматические характеристики, которые необходимо учитывать при словарной фиксации статусных обращений. Способность слова употребляться в функции обращения рассматривается как коммуникативно-прагматическое свойство, которое должно получать отражение в словарной статье идеографического словаря. Принадлежность слова к определенной идеографической группе является одним из факторов, влияющих на реализацию словом вокативной функции. Использование данных идеографических словарей способствует выявлению тех классов слов, для которых синтаксическая функция обращения является лексикализованной. Обращение к данным корпуса позволяет отследить динамику в употреблении вокативных форм, а также установить некоторые грамматические особенности лексических единиц, используемых в качестве обращений. Включение в иллюстративный материал толкового словаря примеров реализации вокативной функции важно для изучающих русский язык как иностранный и неродной. В работе охарактеризована макро- и микроструктура словарного описания статусных обращений, обосновывается идеографический подход к обращениям, обсуждаются способы семантизации обращений в словаре и предлагается модель словарной статьи.

In view of the rapid decrease in the number of students opting to train as teachers and the increasing numbers of teachers leaving the profession; the teaching profession in South Africa is indeed what Duke (1984) termed “imperilled”. While quantitative research identifies remuneration to be the foremost factor attributed to the dissatisfaction of teachers in South Africa as elsewhere; the main purpose of this study was to explore teachers’ perceptions of remuneration. Nine qualified women teachers aged between 25 and 35 years of age, who had been teaching for at least two years and less than ten, volunteered to take part in this study. The sample was drawn from government schools in a suburban part of Johannesburg. This research was based on the information gathered from a short biographical questionnaire followed by in-depth, semi-structured interviews. A process of language sensitive thematic content analysis was employed in order to analyse the data from the interviews. The research indicates that in the decision to enter the teaching profession, notions of the perception that teaching is a vocation predominate. An emphasis on the related intrinsic rewards to be gained from teaching was found to receive greater focus than monetary concerns on entering the profession. The participants expressed that women are more likely to enter the teaching profession while even though men may share the passion to teach, they are seriously deterred by the poor levels of remuneration. The participants explained that as the contexts of their lives changed, so too did their perceptions of remuneration, often resulting in an increasing emphasis on the importance of better remuneration to meet their and their families’ financial needs. Related to this, it was found that as South African teachers were exposed to an almost overwhelming number of challenges, the participants began to experience fewer intrinsic rewards which seemed to impact negatively on their perceptions of remuneration. Thus of the nine participants, only two indicated their long-term commitment to the teaching profession whereas the remaining seven all had plans to leave the profession in search of better remuneration.

South African indigenous language teaching and learning materials do not provide sufficient information to help additional language learners learn the target languages effectively. While there are institutions that are tasked with developing and sharpening the skills of students in speaking South African indigenous languages, such students hardly, if at all master the art of speaking them eloquently. Students who study these languages in order to converse proficiently with their mother-tongue speakers experience insurmountable difficulties, in spite of various efforts made by the teachers who train them to read books on their own. Passing their examinations does not mean that the students’ ability to communicate with mother-tongue speakers will improve to the extent of eliminating the prevailing misunderstanding between the two groups. The persistence of this problem reveals a discrepancy between the studies of indigenous languages in South Africa and the way of speaking them, whereby important linguistic elements that make communication more authentic are excluded in language materials. This study analyses the use and significance of CIFWs in daily interactions by investigating the two Xhosa CIFWs words wethu and bethu. The overall aim of this study is to explore the use of a corpus in the examination of CIFWs in general, and wethu and bethu in particular. Both a quantitative approach based on the Gothenburg-Unisa spoken corpus and a qualitative approach based on Allwoods’ ACA theoretical framework were used in the analysis and description of the functions and significances of wethu and bethu as communicative and interactive function words.
