The paper explained the use of critical visual analysis for understanding and contextualizing the images as well as applied the theories of visual consumption and social semiotics to analyze certain visual materials. Furthermore, this study examined the visual representations of refugees and immigrants who faced atrocities at the time of the partition of the Subcontinent along with the Mongol leader who was responsible for the largest empire in history. The research aimed at answering the question related to the significance of visual communication and critical visual analysis for comprehending those visuals. The paper used qualitative methods of research to answer the research question. Critical visual analysis helps not only in describing the physical features of the images but also in interpreting the notion and meaning behind the visuals. In todays technologically advanced world, visuals have gained prominence in the aspects of advertisement and meaning explanation. Therefore, critical visual analysis is paramount in this era.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), 314 million individuals worldwide suffer from some degree of vision impairment. Yoga is an effective intervention for the purification and preparation of the body. The leading cleaning practices such as yoga postures, breathing control, and meditation, among others. These techniques include a yogic visual concentration technique known as Trataka. According to certain studies, yogic visual concentration improves eyesight. However, the immediate effect of trataka on visual acuity in adolescents with the visually impaired has not been investigated. Purpose. The present study investigated the effect of 6 weeks of trataka training on visual acuity in visually impaired adolescents. Material & Methods. The study used a single group, before/after design, with ten visually challenged adolescents (Mage=16.5 years; SD=1.5; range 15-18 years) participating in a 6-week trataka training. In clinical settings, the Snellen chart is the most used tool for determining a participant's level of visual acuity. Results. The outcome score for left eyesight (44.44 per cent) and right eyesight (50.43 per cent) improved significantly. Furthermore, paired t-test findings revealed significant improvement in both left eyesight (p<0.001; ES=0.87) and right eyesight (p<0.001; ES=0.83) following 6 weeks of trataka training. Conclusions. The findings of this study objectively show that the yogic visual concentration training may be more effective in adolescents with the visually impaired. Future studies with larger sample size and a more substantial research design based on objective variables are required to strengthen the study's conclusions.

This article explores the symbiotic relationship between semiotics and visual communication. Semiotics provides the framework for understanding the meanings and interpretations of signs and symbols within visuals, while visuals act as signs themselves, conveying messages and eliciting responses from viewers. The article discusses how semiotics enhances visual communication by guiding the selection and arrangement of visual elements, considering cultural codes and conventions, and leveraging symbolism and metaphor. It also explores emerging trends in semiotics and visual communication, the potential of technology in enhancing this relationship, and ethical considerations in visual communication. By understanding and embracing this symbiotic relationship, visual communicators can create impactful and ethical visual messages that effectively engage audiences.

This study aims to produce a visual artwork through the representation of the world of the artist's imagination in an effort to form a new landscape. This work is a reflection, emotion and abstract experience of the artist towards urban development and the destruction of nature due to human activity and greed. Artists are creative individuals who are able to produce works that have their own aesthetic value depending on their experience, understanding and philosophy or style of thinking in presenting visual elements and meaning. This study uses an approach in artistic research which is research based on studio practice (Studio Based Research). This research process applies three methods in the work creation model by S.P Gustami (2007) in the production of creative works, namely exploration, planning and creation. While the analysis of artworks is by using the 'organic unity' model by Ocvirk (2001) which is divided into three main aspects namely subject, form and meaning. Three series of selected paintings entitled "Chrysalis" that were produced depict the landscape of a fantasy world that brings the surrealistic genre that features a variety of complex visual images with a clash of various styles that push the audience into the world of color, depth and detail. This work includes elements, images and concepts of nature and urbanization as an allegory to be understood and appreciated so that the progress of technology, culture and society parallel in the modern context. In addition, this work brings a paradigm in human interaction with the environment.

This paper investigates the reflection of “visual turn”in semiotic research, the relationship between visual history and semiotics. The aim of the research is to investigate the relationship between visual history and semiotics and to reflect this relationship in scholarly research. The English-language works of such famous researchers and cultural theorists as Ferdinand de Saussure, Michel Foucault, Algirdas Julius Greimas, Jean Francois Lyotard, Jacques Lacan, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Jacques Derrida Jacques Derrida, Umberto Eco, Mi-chael Halliday, Charles Peirce, Noam Chomsky, and others were analyzed in this paper. History does not speak for itself, so the work of аhistorian is always interpretive. The appeal to the visual here is not a turn away from other ways, other meanings of making history. The visual is seen here as a special form of knowledge, requiring its own ways of apprehending it. This engagement with the visual will undoubtedly have a significant impact on our understanding of archives and historiography in general but does not claim to privilege the visual domain as offering a special kind of access to the past

The BERSIH movement in Malaysia is a coalition of civil society organizations advocating for clean and fair elections. This research examines how visual communication shapes political participation by focusing on the visual framing of the BERSIH movement. The study interviewed ten visual communication experts to uncover the meanings and ideological representations behind the visual frames used in the movement. The investigation identified three main themes: portrayal of the crowd, significant individuals, and injustice. The portrayal of the crowd theme highlighted the use of visuals to create a sense of unity and solidarity among participants, while the significant individuals theme emphasized the importance of visual representations of influential figures in shaping people's perceptions. The injustice theme highlighted the use of visuals to expose the injustices and inequality within the electoral system. The study found that visual framing plays a significant role in shaping people's attitudes towards political participation. Neutral or cool visual elements can evoke strong feelings and attract people to the cause, demonstrating that visual elements play a vital role in political mobilization. The findings suggest that carefully crafting visual frames can evoke strong emotional responses and encourage participation in political action. This research sheds light on the power of visual communication in shaping political participation in Malaysia's social movements and highlights the need for a strategic approach in creating visuals that appeal to people's emotions and encourage political engagement. Abstract Visual aids are powerful tools that can be used to assist the teachers in teaching a foreign language. They can be used to display complex information clearly and introduce variety into the activities in class. The benefits in using visuals in teaching are huge, ranging from grabbing and maintaining attention to motivating students to engage with the lecture’s particular topic and helping them to retain information. Specialists as well as teachers agree on the important role of visuals that can significantly enhance the learning of students that belong to a generation familiar with the visual interface of multimedia and internet technologies. This article reflects on the power and dangers of diagrams as a mode of anthropological exposition, comparing this particular form of non-text to the brief dalliance of mid-century anthropology with algebraic and logical formulae. It has been claimed that diagrams, like formulae, are clearer, simpler, or less deceptive than textual argument. By contrast, this article argues that diagrams are just as slippery and tricky as words, but that images and words slip and slide in different ways. Holding both diagrams and words together when building an argument enables not only a specific kind of rigor, but also moments of unexpected theoretical invention. This technique of holding together contrasting heuristics scales up as a productive epistemic device for anthropology more broadly.

Annotation:
Visual lobe continues to be an important determinant of extended search performance. This study looks at the effect of various methods of training on visual lobe size. Furthermore, it relates changes in visual lobe size to improvements in visual search performance. Subjects were trained using three different methods. In method 1 subjects were trained on a visual lobe improvement task using the actual fault. In method 2 subjects were trained on an irrelevant target using the visual lobe measurement task and in method 3 subjects were provided practice on the extended visual search task. Greatest improvements in lobe size and search performance were observed for method 1.
