Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe incidence of chronic liver diseases, and particularly liver fibrosis, is constantly growing in industrialized countries. Liver stiffness, which is a good surrogate marker to stage liver fibrosis, can be estimated noninvasively through transient elastography. This technique thus provides an important diagnosis tool to the specialists. Commonly used in hepatology, it consists in using a mono element ultrasound probe to generate a transient pulse at the surface of the skin that will propagate within the liver as a shear wave. Its propagation is tracked in real time using ultrafast ultrasound pulses. In order to obtain a reliable liver stiffness estimation, the probe has to be placed in front of a homogeneous region of the liver. This localization phase may be difficult depending on the experience of the operator, and the morphology of the patient, with obese patients being particularly difficult to measure. In this thesis, a first axis of research was dedicated to improve the applicability of transient elastography on massively obese patients. A second focus of research aimed at facilitating the localization of an optimal measurement window. First, the artefacts disturbing the stiffness estimation were studied through simulations and in vitro studies. It led to a better understanding of the influence of the most common artifacts in transient elastography and to the manufacturing of probe prototypes adapted to measuring massively obese patients. Secondly, a liver localization tool has been developed in order to help the operator detect an optimal measurement window. Lastly, the probe prototypes as well as the liver localization tool were tested on massively obese patients during a clinical trial carried out at the hospital la Pitié-Salpêtrière

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis is focused on beam vibration control using piezoelectric transducers and passive electric networks. The first part of this study deals with the modeling and the analysis of stepped piezoelectric beams. A refined one-dimensional model is derived and experimentally validated. The modal properties are determined with four numerical methods. A homogenized model of stepped periodic piezoelectric beams is derived by using two-scale convergence. The second part deals with the performance analysis of three passive circuits in damping structural vibrations: the piezoelectric shunting, the second order transmission line and the fourth order transmission line. The effects of uncertainties of the electric parameters on the system performances are analyzed. Theoretical predictions are validated through different experimental setups

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe aim of the thesis is to define principles and approaches of a practical implementation of vibration sensors for dynamic monitoring of structures, specially damage detection. The general idea is to study the combinations instrumentation /detection method. Thus, a numerical sensitivity study of different damage detection and localization methods using modal parameters (mainly natural frequencies and mode shapes) was performed according to the type of sensor used, to the number of sensors, to the severity of the damage, and to dispersion of modal parameters. The case-study is conducted on an aluminium clamped-clamped beam. A panorama of the capacity of each method for dynamic assessment of structures has been presented. Overall, long base strain gauges provide better results for damage detection methods. A method developed in the Dynamic group applied to numerical and experimental data, is able to locate mass and/or flexural rigidity modifications and to quantify these perturbations

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn the analysis of sinus excited beam trusses, a new method in the medium and high frequency range is studied. The frequency function is smoothed by the use of semi-infinite media hypothesis : modal behaviour is forgotten thanks to the suppress of return waves in the truss; the direct wave propagation is kept according to the concept of direct structural paths from the excitation node to the response nod; geometric mean appears to be strictly linked to this frequency smoothing method through the filtering of the energy cepstra. A method of natural smoothing of measurement frequency functions is proposed by the use of the energy cepstra

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleInitial investigations into sampled-data systems using PPF are presented. The issues addressed are: stability of the sampled system, the effects of the sampling rate on the system, and degradation from predicted analog performance. A digital design procedure for the tuning filters in the Z-plane is suggested if the sampling rate to be used is known. If the sampling rate varies significantly, to avoid redesigning the filters for each new sampling rate, they should be designed in the continuous-time and transformed to the Z-plane. The Tustin transformation was found to adequately map the poles and zeros of the compensator to the Z-plane for digital control.
Experimental implementation of PPF on a simply-supported beam resulted in vibration suppression of three modes with a S180 controller. The beam was subjected to both a single-frequency harmonic disturbance and a broadband harmonic disturbance. One, two, and three-mode controllers were designed with disturbance suppression up to 15dB achieved.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis research work is a contribution to the study of the connection between steel and self-compacting concrete (SCC). The change of proportioning and the casting of the concrete without vibration are two sufficient reasons to wonder about the quality of the connection steel-SCC. Indeed, the bibliographical study has shown that the absence of vibration, the use of admixtures, the incorporation of mineral additions have an incidence on the steel-concrete interface. The experimental study has been carried out by means of pull-out and reinforced concrete ties tests. The objectives were to quantify the influence of the intrinsic parameters of the connection on the anchorage and the cracking behaviour of self-compacting concrete, allowing a comparison with the known performances of the vibrated concrete. It has been shown that self-compacting concrete and vibrated concrete present identical performances in terms of bond strength and cracking behaviour. However, SCC seems to be more sensitive to bar roughness than vibrated concrete. A study of the aggregate distribution around the bar, given by image analysis, provides a satisfactory relationship between bond strength and the distribution isotropy. This study has shown that, in the case of SCC, the concrete layer located around the bar has a weak aggregate proportion. This layer is not observed in the case of vibrated concrete, which can explain the sensitivity of SCC to bar roughness. A numerical contribution to the interface modelling has been proposed. The present model consists on a bond-slip law associated with a concrete damage model. It has been shown that the model describes accurately the stress transfer between steel and concrete and allows to observe the cracking growth

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleFretting is a damage induced by small cyclic slip of two bodies in contact. It is characterized by surface crack initiation, which can then propagate, thus leading to failure. Fretting is present in many industrial environments where it is a more or less severe resistance criterion. This work focuses on the fretting cracks that appear in blade/disk roots of turboshaft engines. In this case, the cyclic contact loading is the result of the combination of a static loading and a high frequency vibratory loading (some thousands of Hertz). Being able to estimate the lifetime of the root under such a solicitation is essential for flight safety. The lack of knowledge of certain input parameters, the non-proportionality of the solicitation as well as the high stress gradient involved, make this phenomenon difficult to predict. This work proposes a numerical method allowing the computation of a fretting crack initiation criterion. First, stresses and deformations fields are computed with finite element method. Then, the post-processing of the fields is done woth Dang Van criterion. The model is developed with the support of an innovative test bench which makes it possible to reproduce the loadings sustained by a a blade/disk root. An intensive use of the computation process developed makes it possible to draw conclusions and provides better understanding of the phenomenon involved in this type of damage. The different numerical studies carried out make it possible to compare the representativeness of the experimental means with respect to the actual engine configurations

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis focuses on the development of a continuous stiffened axisymmetric shell element of type Reissner/Mindlin. The approach consist in using the axisymmetric shell element developed in LISMMA for which distributed loads were applied on it.The introduction of longitudinal stiffeners is achieved by using a straight beam element coupled to the shell. The introduction of circumferential stiffeners requires the development of circular beam element according to a formulation similar to that used for the axisymmetric shell. In fact, this continuous element method is based on the development of the unknown fields on the Fourier series according to the circumferential dimensions and on the determination of the dynamic stiffness matrix of the studied structure. Two coupling configuration were considered: First of all the coupling of axisymmetric shell with circular Timoshenko beam element acting as circumferential stiffeners, then with straight Timoshenko beam element acting as longitudinal stiffener. Harmonic analyzes are conducted in order to validate the formulations presented in comparison with the results obtained from finite element model

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis deals with the development of a continuous element for orthotropic, sandwich and multilayer plates. This approach is based essentially on the construction of the dynamic stiffness matrix of orthotropic plates using natural boundary conditions from a reformulation of the isotropic plate elements developed in the QUARTZ laboratory (EA 7393). In order to develop the dynamic stiffness matrix of the studied element we resort on the first hand to the decomposition of free boundary conditions described by Gorman, on the second hand to the resolution of the equations of motion by using Levy series expansions. The dynamic stiffness matrix is then obtained by projecting movements and frontier efforts on functional bases compatible with assembly operations. Finally the continuous sandwich and multilayer plate element is described by superposition of continuous orthotropic plates element previously developed. The formulations presented takes into account the bending vibration and the vibration in the plane, called membrane vibration. The validation of all obtained results is conducted by a systematic comparison of undamped harmonic responses with those obtained by various finite element models

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis deals with the fatigue damage analysis and reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) of structures under random vibrations. The purpose of an RBDO method is to find the best compromise between cost and safety. Several methods, such as Hybrid method and OSF method have been developed. These methods have been applied in static cases and some specific dynamic cases. In fact, structures are subject to random vibrations which can cause a fatigue damage. In this thesis we present the strategy of calculation of the fatigue damage based on the Sines criterion in the frequency domain developed in our laboratory. Then, an extension of the RBDO methods in the case of structures subjected to random vibrations is proposed. Also, an RHM method is developed. Finally, we present an industrial application where we propose a model of the mechanical part of the HALT chamber

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe use of optical measurement techniques requires a choice, often difficult, between temporal resolution and spatial resolution. Speckle interferometry (IS) provides high spatial resolution maps of vibration amplitudes, but the temporal resolution of measurements is reduced, due to the low acquisition rates of detectors. The thesis is dedicated to the development of an interferometric system that is able to measure dynamic phenomena with superior temporal resolution. The system was tested at acquisition rates exceeding 26,000 frames/s, for the following cases: harmonic excitation; arbitrary excitation; dynamic loading by a staircase signal and mechanical shock. The tests showed that the system is able to overcome conventional systems of continuous wave SI with respect to the measurement of dynamic phenomena
Dupuy, Jean-Sébastien. „Identification des propriétés mécaniques de matériaux composites par analyse vibratoire“. Phd thesis, Montpellier 2, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008MON20200.
Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe mechanical performance of composites depends not only on the characteristics of fillers and matrix used, but also on the quality of interface between these constituents. Thus, poor interfacial adhesion generally results in a decrease of the behavior of composite, which may be likened to an overall damage of the material. The purpose of this study is to propose a means of quick characterization of materials damage from mechanical vibrations analyses. Indeed, bad cohesion within thematerial can lead to friction phenomena, which tend to increase the damping level of its dynamic response. Several experimental techniques, some of which based on the analysis of the structural resonant frequencies, are presented in this study. The viscoelastic properties of particulate composites with polymer matrix are analyzed. Some design parameters of these model materials have been tuned, in order to create different damage levels. The results, particularly in regard to the loss factor, are interpreted from a comparison with simple analytical homogenization models

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBio-based composites appear to be very promising alternatives to traditional composites. The use of natural fibres as reinforcement reduces the environmental impact of these materials and their specific properties are significantly increased. In this context, this work focuses on the manufacturing and the mechanical characterization of a bio-based sandwich structure. The skins are made of an innovative thermoplastic resin associated with flax fibres. The core is made of balsa wood. First, quasi-static analyses are performed on the different components. Then, the tensile properties of the composite skins are studied. Moreover, the main damage mechanisms are identified and described by means of the acoustic emission technique. Next, the flexural behavior of the whole sandwich structure is studied. Particular attention is paid to the detection and prediction of the main fracture modes. Moreover, the statistical spreads of the material properties of the balsa core are taken into account. In addition, cyclic fatigue and impact tests are performed to investigate the behavior of this structure under dynamic loads, and to discuss whether or not this material could be suitable for potential semi-structural applications. Finally, experimental analyses of the vibration behavior of composite and sandwich beams are performed. The contributions of the different components to the global damping properties of the sandwich structure are analyzed by means of a finite elements model. This work also compares the properties of this bio-based sandwich to those of traditional materials, in order to benchmark its mechanical performances with a view to further industrial usage

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleHydroformed flexible tubes are essential structures used in several industrial sectors such as the automotive sector, the aviation industry or energy production, such as the production of renewable energy in solar thermal energy farms where the panels must both be supplying fluid along and follow the direction of the sun. These structures serve as connecting parts between the rigid parts different mechanisms, primarily used for damping vibrations and acoustic emissions, and, as their name suggests, they also allow flexibility and pressure expansion, which considerably improves the fatigue strength. The mastery and prediction of the mechanical behavior of these structures are very important from a safety point of view and an economic point of view. Indeed, their accidental breakage can cause very serious consequences due to their use in sensitive areas such as the nuclear industry. In this context, this thesis was launched between Compiegne University of Technology and industrial BOA-group to create digital approaches to behavioral predictions and estimating the life braided hoses that take into account extreme conditions (temperature and pressure) and the forming parameters and properties of the materials used. In terms of use, these products are subject to thermomechanical charge-discharge cycles and vibrations can induce complex deformed piping of wear due to friction and damage by fatigue, The purpose of the study is to develop a numerical approach validated by the experience to certify products and improve the design. This approach will allow to estimate the lifetime of braided wavy taking into account: - the initial state of the product after forming and assembly, - thermomechanical stresses, is defined by the specification, or encountered in specific use cases, - vibrations encountered during use in real cases. The expected results are the life of the products from a calculation model of their behavior using the characteristics of the materials and interaction braid / tube

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleCar manufacturers are responsible for ensuring the reliability of all chassis components throughout the life of the vehicle. Nevertheless, no global standard framework exists. Therefore, they must rely on their own experience. For any design protocol, it is imperative to precisely define the loads seen by the parts. The load measures by the chassis system is even more complex to assess as it faces variable amplitude (depending on the life situations encountered) and multi-input load case (loads perceived at each wheel simultaneously). For fatigue design, the loads measured at the wheels are modelled as the sum of the ones induced by the manoeuvers, called Driven Road, and the ones induced by the road conditions, called Random Road. A validation process of the partition is illustrated using real time series. It benefits from the particularities of each loading type, time correlation and frequency characteristics, to consider the multi-input character of the load case. This model provides the manufacturer with additional elements to characterise the loadings

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn this thesis, a subspace fitting (SF) method is presented for the identification of mechanical parameters and assessment of the health condition of vibrating structures. The SF method attempts to extract, from subspace identification methods (4SID), a system observability matrix of the system and correlate them with a theoretical observability matrix. The originality of this work is to obtain the theoretical observability matrix from a finite element model (EF) of the structure. By adjusting unknown parameters of the FE model, the mechanical properties of the vibrating structure are identified. Computational costs of such a procedure are reduced by considering a model reduction method based on the excitations and sensors location. The method is evaluated for the identification of natural frequencies of a vibrating structure. Numerical and experimental applications are assessed to show the relevance of such an approach. In particular, it is highlighted that the SF method can accurately identify the natural frequencies of a structure to high noise levels

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe use of natural fibers as reinforcement makes it possible to improve the environmental performance of the composite materials as well as their damping properties. Nevertheless, these natural fiber composites have lower mechanical performance than synthetic fiber composites. In this context, this study proposes to develop composite structures with hybrid reinforcement made of flax and carbon fibers. The objective of this hybridization is to find a compromise between the mechanical and dissipative properties. First, the static behavior of flax fiber, carbon fiber and flax/carbon hybrid composites was analyzed. The principal elastic characteristics of a UD ply in plane stresses are thus determined. Moreover, a monitoring and an analysis of the mechanisms of damage were carried out by means of the technique of acoustic emission associated with microscopic observations. In order to better meet industrial needs, the behavior of composites subjected to cyclic fatigue tests must be studied. In fact, the fatigue behavior of these materials with non-hybrid and hybrid reinforcements was analyzed under tensile stress and three-point bending. The influence of hybridization on the fatigue life of these composites has been established. Finally, an experimental study and a finite element modeling of the vibratory behavior of non-hybrid and hybrid composites were carried out. Thus, the role of different fibers, fiber orientations, stacking sequences in vibration damping has been discussed

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn the majority of industrial sectors, production systems’ maintenance costs represent an important part of the whole process’s cost. In order to improve systems’ reliability and performance, different maintenance strategies are used. The goal is to be able to detect all potential malfunction that may affect the production. Nowadays, vibration analysis is one of the best tools in term of detection and defect monitoring. However, the application of these vibration based techniques remain difficult in the case of machines functioning at low speeds. In this thesis, we propose an alternative technique of vibration analysis for the surveillance of these machines that operate on very low speeds and variable speeds. We are specifically interested in bearings’ monitoring. This alternative technique is based on instantaneous angular speed’s variations analysis that are induced by a bearing defect. This technique is tested on a test bench and compared with other techniques such as vibration and ultrasound analysis for different loading conditions and for different bearing fault types. This study shows a high efficiency of this method in the case of very low speeds, constant and variable. This methodology has then been implemented on sugar diffusion oven in a sugar production factory. The measurements shows that this technique is a promising technique for machines’ surveillance in very low and variable speeds working conditions

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn recent decades, polymer composites reinforced with plant fibers have received significant attention from scientists. The use of reinforcing vegetable fibers makes it possible to improve the environmental performance of these materials reaching higher specific properties. Nevertheless, a major lock still hinders the development of these materials. Indeed, their sensitivity to water ageing, due to their hydrophilic nature, restricts their use. In this context, we propose, as part of this thesis, to analyze the effect of water ageing on static and dynamic behavior, to identify and monitoring the damage mechanisms of a sandwich structure biobased and its constituents. The composites used consist of a greenpoxy resin associated with flax fibers and a cork core for sandwich materials. In the first part of this work, we studied the static an dynamic behavior of the resin, the composites, cores and sandwich structures. This study led on the one hand to the determination of the mechanical characteristics and to the identification and the follow-up of the mechanisms of damage by acoustic emission and microscopic observations and on the other hand to the determination of the dynamic characteristics. In the second part, we first analyzed the kinetics of water diffusion in resin, skins, cores and sandwichs by identification of their diffusion parameters by the Fick model approach. Then, we are interested in the impact of water ageing on the behavior and mechanical properties iof sandwichs and its constituents

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis thesis presents a study of the seismic behavior of light timber frame walls with stapled and nailed sheathings through experimental approaches and the development of a methodology for the application of seismic performance-based methods. The experimental approaches consist of three test campaigns: (1) a series of static tests on stapled and nailed connections, (2) a series of static tests performed on light timber frame walls and (3) a series of dynamic tests performed on light timber frame walls on a vibrating table. The database consists of these test results then allows the examination of strength and stiffness properties of the wall elements according to the stress conditions (strain rate, vertical load). The development of a macro-scale modeling of the cyclic and dynamic behavior of such elements is also proposed using constitutive law models. A framework of the application to light timber frame structures of seismic performance-based methods based (N2 method and MPA method) and a vulnerability analysis - fragility curves - using the N2 method are proposed
