This article analyzes how, in Footfalls, Beckett erodes subjective certainty as well as bodily evidence by calling into question the stability of referential mechanisms. Focusing on proper names and analyzing closely how they articulate (or rather disarticulate) personal pronouns and bodily referents, it shows how their unhinging produces a de-stabilization of reality, which has the paradoxical effect of calling into question the subjective unity and permanence of the body present on stage. This article follows the various movements of this short play to trace series of shifts and glitches in the pragmatics of enunciation, and shows how these glitches call into question the identity of the enunciating ‘I’ as well as the reality of its links to the body that it refers to.

AimsThis poster reflects how the experience of staying with people of diverse nations and cultural background helped the stranded IMGs cope with this agony in a foreign land during an unprecedented tumultuous situation. The aim is to show that despite diversity among people, the hard times made them unite and overcome countless difficulties.BackgroundThe COVID 19 pandemic has been a period of global health crisis and has exponentially affected mental health issues in the world population. In these difficult times, several International Medical Graduates (IMGs), who had come to the UK to attend their PLAB exams, were left stranded as the exams were postponed, flights cancelled and borders sealed. Faced with huge uncertainty their mental health was of great concern. At this time the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) came forward to help this cohort of stranded doctors in terms of accommodation, finances, mental health support, preparation for exams to the extent of liaising with General Medical Council (GMC) and Home Office. The virtual support group provided a platform for IMGs from different nations and cultures to get in touch with each other helping overcome mental burden and stress. The stories presented in the poster show how unity in diversity helped these young doctors deal with mental trauma amidst the Pandemic.Method276 doctors from 27 countries were looked after by BAPIO. From those excerpts taken from 26 IMGs, personal narratives was used as a method for qualitative assessment. The percentage of IMGs clearing their exams and getting jobs in the NHS has been used for quantitative assessment.ResultQualitative: The personal narratives of the IMGs show how they were positively impacted by staying together albeit different nationalities and cultural background.Quantitative: A total of 21 IMGs out of the 26 cleared their PLAB 2 exams and got registration under General Medical Council giving a percentage of 81.7%. 20 IMGs have successfully joined the NHS in various posts giving a job success rate of 95.2%.ConclusionThe experience of living and sharing housings with people from different nationalities, has increased appreciation and also prepared them to work in the NHS which has a diverse work force. This learning experience has been integral for all of us in shaping our life in the UK making everyone more compassionate.

Chicken-farmer, shoe-worker, bobbin-boy, messenger, teacher, journalist, leather-worker, poet, student, cultural ambassador, berry-picker, lecturer. Such a list does not even exhaust Robert Frost's occupations, let alone his ambitions. In fact, when he writes in “Two Tramps in Mud Time” thatMy object in living is to uniteMy avocation and my vocationAs my two eyes make one in sightit is tempting to see here a sly joke at his own expense. For Frost had so many vocations and avocations that they are well-nigh impossible to combine in any clear-sighted unity. “No poet in this century has written more poems involving more different kinds of work than Frost,” writes William H. Pritchard, before going on to list some of the jobs which Frost found and abandoned between 1885 and 1892. Even the many jobs he did do were insufficient to content him. “I should have been an archaeologist,” he wrote to A. J. Armstrong in 1943 and though Frost as an extremely successful poet might allow himself that ironic wistfulness, he was not being merely whimsical. If some of his family were drawn into the darker sides of his poetry, then they also enacted a few of his brighter dreams. Welcoming Willard E. Fraser as a new son-in-law in 1932, Frost proposes not one but four desired careers.

With their collaborative influence, we develop a forward dynamic programming (DP) algorithm to determine the optimal number of batches and their optimal integer sizes. The computation effort required by this DP algorithm is a polynomial function of job size.

Reservation is always contentious and sentimental issue and raises many concerns of the people. The policy of reservation and safeguards provided to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes has adversely affected the unity and solidarity of the nation. Reservation in India is all about reserving access to seats in the government jobs, educational institutions and even legislatures to certain sections of the population. The reservation can also be seen as positive discrimination. Reservation in India is a government policy, backed by the Indian Constitution. Part XVI deals with reservation of SC and ST in Central and state legislature. The need for reservation can be looked from legal and socio-cultural perspective. The act of reservation is reserving seats in educational institutions, certain places of employment for certain castes and classes of society which are considered backward, those being the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Castes. Reservation is an effective measure to end the oppressive discrimination. Reservation facilitates empowerment and social harmony for all in the segments.

Human resources in a corporate organization is a unity that can not be separated to achieve organizational goals. The achievement of organizational goals can be seen from the performance of employees. Currently, the problem of high turnover intention has become a serious problem for many companies. The negative impact that is felt due to the occurrence of turnover intention in the company is on the quality and ability to replace employees who leave the company, so it takes time and new costs in recruiting new employees. Leadership is expected to be able to direct and motivate employees so that they can carry out their jobs well, and can control or reduce stress levels in employees. And can reduce the turnover rate can maximize employee performance. Therefore, based on the above background, this research takes the title “The Effect Of Leadership, Motivation And Work Stress On Turnover Intention Of Employees Of PT. XYZ Karawang Branch”. This type of research uses a quantitative approach, with a sample of 51 respondents with a sample collection technique that is saturated sampling technique. Evaluation of the Measurement Model (Outer Model) and Evaluation of the Structural Model (Inner Model) to test and prove the research hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that leadership and motivation have no significant effect on turnover intention, while work stress has a significant positive effect on turnover intention. In order to reduce the turnover rate, it is hoped that the leadership will provide an appropriate job description for each employee so that there is no oversize capacity on the ability and working hours of employees.

Rwanda’s Land Policy Reform promotes agri-business and encourages self-employment. This paper aims to analyze the situation from a self-employment perspective when dealing with expropriation risk in rural areas. In this study, we conducted a structured survey addressed to 63 domestic units, complemented by focus groups of 47 participants from Kimonyi Sector. The binary logistic regression analysis revealed that having job alternatives, men heading domestic units, literacy skills in English, and owning land lease certificates (p < 0.05) are positively and significantly related to awareness of land expropriation risk. The decision of the head of the domestic unit to practice the main activity under self-employment status is positively influenced by owning a land lease certificate, number of plots, and French skills, while skills in English and a domestic unit’s size have a positive and significant influence on involvement in a second activity as self-employed. Information on expropriation risk has no significant effect on self-employment. The domestic unit survey revealed that 34.9% of the heads of domestic units only have one job, 47.6% have at least two jobs in their everyday life, 12.7% have a minimum of three jobs, and 4.8% are inactive. The focus group synthesis exposed the limits to self-employment ability and facilities.

Multi-skilling, an organisational strategy aimed at increasing the skill repertoire of the worker with the intent of facilitating the role and task flexibility among organisational members, is investigated.A literature review on the subject identified a number of factors contributing towards the development of a multi-skilled workforce. These ranged from the abolition of demarcation restrictions between jobs and skill-based pay systems, to the modification of the supervisory role. However, the literature fails to consider the role of technology in such developments. It was suggested that this was central to the development of skills.A framework was proposed that hypothesized a relationship between technological uncertainty the extent to which task activities are varied and difficult and skill requirements. It was further hypothesized that technology influences the structuring of activities within organisational subsystems. It was suggested that these would act either to facilitate or inhibit multi-skilling development. The structuring of activities within a unit consist of specialisation (the number of different tasks assigned to the unit); standardisation (the degree to which policies, rules, and procedures are formalised and used to guide action); interchangeability (the extent to which A can perform Bs job at short notice, and vice versa); locus of authority (the source of decision-making authority within the unit, for example, the supervisor rather than the worker); and skill heterogeneity (the variability in skill composition among unit members).A preliminary evaluation of the framework was carried out in an organisation engaged in the processing of mineral ore, with a largely semi-skilled workforce (N=165), where a multi-skilling programme was in progress.Evidence was presented that suggested a relationship between the level of technological uncertainty and ++
skill development. However, the results failed to confirm the pervasive influence of technology with regard to the structuring of activities within subsystems. Instead, technological uncertainty was significantly related to the design of jobs, and specifically to the degree of the standardisation of jobs of organisational members. Also, contrary to the anticipated direction, there was an association between perceived standardisation of activities within subsystems and job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurses participate in ethical decision making, and to describe the role NICU nurses have in the ethical decision making process. This study replicated a 1991 study conducted by Elizondo. According to Lowe, 1991, replication research is the repeating of a study for the purposes of validating the findings of the original investigation. The traditional theory of utilitarianism provides the theoretical framework for this study, a goal-based approach to ethical decison making that focuses on consequences of actions. Findings provide information about satisfaction and conflicts related to nurse participation in ethical deecision making in the NICU.The Nurse Participation in Ethical Decision Making (NPEDM) questionnaire (Elizondo, 1991) was used for data collection. Of fifty NICU nurses, seventeen (34%) of the sample completed the questionnaire. Confidentiality was maintained. Results showed that all respondents were able to identify methods that are used for participation in ethical decision making. Informal conversations with physicians was identified as the primary method of participation. Forty-one percent of respondents were satisfied with the nurse's role in ethical decision making. Forty-seven percent were only somewhat satisfied. An indication of satisfaction demonstrated by 100% of the study sample was that nurses' ideas are respected by other health care professionals.Findings indicated that a significant positive relationship exists between role satisfaction and study variables. Eighty-eight percent of respondents stated that conflicts related to participation were experienced. Overwhelmingly, respondents felt that the primary source of conflicts were with physicians. These findings are consistent with results reported in the original study. When asked what factors impact on how decisions are made, 40% of respondents indicated that ethical decisions are often impacted by generalized decisions based on viability of the neonate as determined by the gestational age, and "quality of life."Seventy-six percent of respondents believed nurses should be more involved in the ethical decision making. Conferences with physicians and parents was identified by 69% of the study sample. This study found that the older the nurse, the more satisfied with role in the ethical decison making process. Length of employment also contributed positively to satisfaction in ethical decision making. The more educated the nurse, the more satisfied with role in the ethical decision making process. Nurses were less satisfied if conflicts were experienced or identified.Findings suggest that collaborative relationships exist between nurses and other health team members and that nurses feel some sense of fulfillment with their role in the ethical decision making process. It was concluded that many issues were unsolved and need to be discussed.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Agency-nursing work refers to nursing services provided by agency nurses employed on a casual, contracted basis. Agency-nursing has become more common in nursing practice in South Africa. This group of nurses play a significant role within the health care industry for both public and private sector. Given the pivotal role that nurses play in caring for the health of others, it is important to understand what motivates agency nurses in terms of job satisfaction. The aim of the study was to explore the perceptions of agency nurses regarding job satisfaction within critical care units in private health care institutions in the Western Cape. A qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach was applied. A sample size of n=10 was drawn from a total population of N=553, using random sampling technique. A semi-structured interview guide was designed based on the objectives of the study and validated by experts in the field before data collection. Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the Ethics Committee at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Stellenbosch. Permission to conduct the research was obtained from the participating nursing agency and consent was given in writing. The presentation of the results was categorised into themes and sub-themes emerged from the data analysis. The five clusters of themes that emerged were reasons for doing agency work, experiences with hospital staff, allocation of agency nurses, communication of information and staff development. The findings support Herzberg’s theory on motivation factors in terms of what motivates workers to excel in their performance. Agency nurses experienced both positive and negative aspects with regards to job satisfaction. The results of the study suggest the need to include revision and implementation of human resource policies and practices to include the nurses’ “voice” in an effort to provide a more supportive work environment. Further research is recommended. Key Words: Agency nurse, nursing agency, job satisfaction.
Sleutelwoorde: Agentskapverpleegster, verplegingsagentskap, werksbevrediging.

This monograph sets out the activities performed during the one year ‘in-job rotation’ as a Medical Scientific Liaison at Novartis Oncology medical department, within the scope of the Pharmaceutical Biomedicine Master’s degree course of the University of Aveiro. This monograph describes the first 9 months from March to December. Many were the challenges and lessons, both professional and personal. Although I already had an experience of more than 10 years working in the Pharmaceutical Industry, mostly in sales and marketing, the present enterprise has been by far the most rewarding. In the first months of this experience, the challenge was to adapt to a new function within the team. Simultaneously, to deepen my scientific knowledge concerning the solid tumours therapeutic area at this initial stage. I have acquired an essentially theoretical knowledge of some areas of the company’s organisation, at national and international level. This being a relatively new function in the Oncology business unit in Portugal, I was given the opportunity to get acquainted with it through the experience of other people inside the company. The activities were from contacts with the main doctors and investigators in Portugal, to proposals for clinical trials in new therapeutic areas, which were not yet targeted by my business unit in the past. This monograph will describe the goals of the internship and present a description of my main projects. Then the knowledge acquired through the multidisciplinary approach of the internship, followed by the description of each activity. Finally, an analysis of the difficulties and challenges I came across with, as well as the actions taken to overcome them.

This study is undertaken to improve the performance of a Chemotherapy Treatment Unit by increasing the throughput of the clinic and reducing the average patients’ waiting time. In order to achieve this objective, a simulation model of this system is built and several scenarios that target matching the arrival pattern of the patients and resources availability are designed and evaluated. After performing detailed analysis, one scenario proves to provide the best system’s performance. The best scenario determines a rational arrival pattern of the patient matching with the nurses’ availability and can serve 22.5% more patients daily. Although the simulation study shows the way to serve more patients daily, it does not explain how to sequence them properly to minimize the average patients’ waiting time. Therefore, an efficient scheduling algorithm was developed to build a scheduling template that minimizes the total flow time of the system.

Efficient and truthful mechanisms to price time on remote servers/machines have been the subject of much work in recent years due to the importance of the cloud market. This paper considers online revenue maximization for a unit capacity server, when jobs are non preemptive, in the Bayesian setting: at each time step, one job arrives, with parameters drawn from an underlying distribution. We design an efficiently computable truthful posted price mechanism, which maximizes revenue in expectation and in retrospect, up to additive error. The prices are posted prior to learning the agent's type, and the computed pricing scheme is deterministic. We also show the pricing mechanism is robust to learning the job distribution from samples, where polynomially many samples suffice to obtain near optimal prices.

The cost-effective reduction of occupational radiation dose (ORD) at a nuclear power plant could not be achieved without going through an extensive analysis of accumulated ORD data of existing plants. Through the data analysis, it is required to identify what are the jobs of repetitive high ORD at the nuclear power plant. In this study, Percentile Rank Sum Method (PRSM) is proposed to identify repetitive high ORD jobs, which is based on non-parametric statistical theory. As a case study, the method is applied to ORD data of maintenance and repair jobs at Kori units 3 and 4 that are pressurized water reactors with 950 MWe capacity and have been operated since 1986 and 1987, respectively in Korea. The results was verified and validated, and PRSM has been demonstrated to be an efficient method of analyzing the data.

Training of combustion turbine combined cycle and simple cycle power plant personnel has for the most part been shown to be lacking for the following: 1.) Personnel attending EPC/OEM training have not received sufficient preliminary training to be able to fully utilize the higher-level unit specifics. 2.) The training does not address the unit specific job tasks. 3.) Training objectives do not relate to the unit specific job tasks. 4.) The unit specific training (OJT) is left up to the “Start-up” engineers who are deeply involved commissioning of the plant equipment. Therefore training of the operator ends up mostly consisting of learning by osmosis. Independent Third Party Certification or licensing of combined cycle power plant personnel forces the training to be upgraded to include unit specific job tasks and OJT documentation.

Abstract This paper presents the successful stimulation workflow case for a carbonate acidizing pilot project performed in Gigante field in the Matambo block of the Upper Magdalena Valley basin in Colombia. An adecuate diagnostic, laboratory testing, treatment fluid selection, on-site QAQC and placement technique selection was fundamental to obtain a successful design and an optimized application. Gigante field production is mainly coming from Tetuan and Caballos units producing 32-degree API crude oil during several years. Specifically, in Gigante-2 ST well, oil production has declined until its commercial limit. During a candidate wells review, it was identified a previous acid stimulation treatment performed in Tobo-Monserrate formation in Gigante-1 with very poor results in oil production –short production time in natural flow– giving to this zone a low potential as oil producer and it was not considered as a primary target zone. The well was completed in its main target at Tetuan formation leaving Tobo-Monserrate behind an intermediate 7 in casing with no future expectatives to produce. After a reservoir evaluation of Tobo-Monserrate formation done in Gigante-2 ST well, it was selected as a candidate for an intermedia matrix stimulation job to evaluate the real potential of this formation in Matambo block. During this phase, reservoir samples were tested against different acid treatments in the laboratory. A gelled HCL based acid was selected based on their laboratory testing performance to delay acid reaction –improving acid penetration– and having fluid loss control to enhance reservoir coverage. The complete chemical formula was customized to match the oil-treatment compatibility. An organic solvents treatment was added to dissolve organic scale prior to the acidizing. Acid was deployed directly through a TCP string to optimatize the operational time and managing treatment rate according to the pressure behavior. During the acid pumping, a pressure drop is observed and treatment rate was increased to generate rate diversion. Gigante-2 ST well came in production at natural flow reaching 502 BOPD and 105 MSCFD evaluated after 35 days of the stimulation job proving and adding important hydrocarbon reserves from Tobo-Monserrate formation. A post job evaluation using a specialized chemical stimulation simulator shows a significant skin removal. Measured treatment pressure and rate were matched with the simulated parameters resulting in −3.24 of skin value post acid stimulation having a productivity improvement factor of 4.35 and an average wormhole penetration estimated from 60 to 75 in into the reservoir. A correct diagnostic, reservoir understanding, design, laboratory testing, execution and post job evaluation was the right route to obtain a successful stimulation job in operational terms and production results. This paper is intended as a guideline for stimulation jobs in future interventions where the exact reservoir mineralogy is unknown. It shows a step-by-step methodology, a customized acid formula and finally, stimulation results as well as recommendations and learned lessons.
