The Philadelphia convention of 1787 looms enormous in many accounts of U.S. constitutional history, serving as the set piece in which various and muddled worldviews, theories, interests, and allegiances gelled into a coherent science and structure of politics. The Convention thus becomes time zero in the chronology of U.S. political and constitutional development, a finite and forward-looking first moment defining, for good or ill, the terms according which subsequent debates regarding the nature of U S. government would be conducted.

Rad nudi pregled razvoja političke decentralizacije u Meksiku u trajanju nešto više od dva desetljeća, u okviru tzv. »obrazovnog federalizma«. Sporazum o modernizaciji osnovnog obrazovanja iz 1992 ključni je trenutak u povijesti meksičkog obrazovnog sustava jer predstavlja prvi pokušaj sveobuhvatne reforme. Osim kurikularne reforme i poticanja društvene participacije sporazum također podrazumijeva potpuno preoblikovanje ustroja obrazovnog sustava i načina upravljanja njime. U radu se nastoji prikazati raskorak u nacionalnoj obrazovnoj politici do kojega dolazi zbog nedostatka koordinacije između poteza različitih razina vlasti. Ne namjerava se osporavati federalizam kao politički sustav, već se želi opisati specifično iskustvo s obrazovnom decentralizacijom u Meksiku, i pojasniti kako prednosti decentralizacije mogu umanjiti nedostatci u oblikovanju i implementaciji.

Bijela knjiga je uobičajeni naziv za internu analizu Saveza komunista Hrvatske iz ožujka 1984. u kojoj su sabrane antisistemske pojave iz javnoga prostora od 1982. do 1984., najvećim dijelom iz Srbije, a koje su bile u suprotnosti s politikom Saveza komunista Jugoslavije. Ona je bila rezultat dosljedne provedbe zaključaka Centralnoga komiteta Saveza komunista Jugoslavije u Hrvatskoj, ali i većem dijelu republika i autonomnih pokrajina. U Srbiji su to radili parcijalno, očito iz pobuda da ne idu do kraja u obračun s kritičarima komunizma jer su dijelu političkoga vrha Srbije služili i za druge ciljeve – promjenu političkoga sustava, što je bio eufemizam za redefiniranje jugoslavenskoga federalizma. Analiza je bila uvod u Savjetovanje kulturnih stvaralaca održano 23. svibnja 1984. u Zagrebu. Izazvala je razmimoilaženje između komunista Hrvatske i Srbije i potaknula dugotrajne polemike u medijima.

Ugovor o arbitraži temelj je svakog arbitražnog postupka pa tako i arbitražnog rješavanja sporova u pravnim stvarima vezanima uz sport. Kao i svaki drugi ugovor, i ugovor o arbitraži podliježe formalnim i materijalnopravnim pretpostavkama za valjanost. Specifičnost ugovora o arbitraži u sportu očituje se u posebnom načinu davanja pristanka na arbitražu pa će se odluka o valjanosti pristanka reflektirati na odluku o valjanosti samog ugovora. Arbitražni sud za sport (CAS) u Lausannei, često nazivan i Vrhovnim sudom za sport, institucija je za arbitražno rješavanje sporova u sportu koja svoju nadležnost crpi upravo iz takvog specifičnog ugovora o arbitraži. Iako je valjani ugovor o arbitraži uvjet za provođenje arbitražnog postupka, pa tako i postupka pred CAS-om, preispitivanje valjanosti javlja se i u fazi pravnog lijeka na arbitražni pravorijek, ali i još kasnije, u fazi priznanja i provedbe strane arbitražne odluke temeljem Njujorške konvencije o priznanju i izvršenju stranih arbitražnih odluka iz 1958. godine. Suvremeno doba svjedok je ljuljanja temelja sportske arbitraže kao sustava na svjetskom nivou. Slučaj Claudie Pechstein, koji je na globalnoj razini počeo pred CAS-om i nastavio se pred Švicarskim federalnim sudom, kulminaciju je doživio lokalno pred njemačkim sudovima. Sportska zajednica napeto je iščekivala odluku Njemačkog vrhovnog suda u lipnju 2016. godine kao što i dalje očekuje odluku Europskog suda za ljudska prava u Strasbourgu pred kojim je postupak još uvijek u tijeku. Članak analizira pozitivne propise i praksu sudova u odnosu na ugovor o arbitraži s kritičkim osvrtom usmjerenim na rezultat postupka pred sudovima u slučaju Claudie Pechstein.

The Econlit abstract of this book begins: “Eleven papers, previously presented at a conference held at Harvard University in August 2012, and revised prior to publication, examine the structural flaws in federal systems of government across the globe that have led to economic and political turmoil and present solutions to preserve and restore federal systems that meet the needs of struggling communities. Papers discuss federalism's emerging fiscal crisis; competitive federalism under pressure; whether market discipline can survive in the U.S. federation; putting a price on teacher pensions; structural flaws in the design of public pension plans; past and present high-risk investments by states and localities; between centralization and federalism in the European Union; German federalism at the crossroads; Spanish federalism in crisis; regional identity and fiscal constraints in Spanish federalism; and the resilience of Canadian federalism. L'etat federal est considere tratiditonnellement comme celui qui donne plus de liberte aux collectivites infra- etatiques contrairement aux autres formes d'etats et principalement l'etat unitaire qui se presente quant a lui comme la negation meme des pouvoirs locaux. Sur le plan des principes et sur le plan de la distinction des etats, une telle affirmation est acceptable et ce d'autant plus que l'analyse traditionnelle reposant uniquement sur l'etude du partage des competences vient la renforcer. Cependant si nous faisons une analyse basee sur l'opposition entre l'une des "nouvelles fonctions" de l'etat - a savoir l'amenagement du territoire- a la struc- ture de l'etat qui est ici l'etat federal, nous nous rendons compte immediatement que cette distincton classique entre l'etat federal et l'etat unitaire merite d'etre fortement nuancee surtout lorsque ce dernier est decentralise ou a evolue vers le regionalisme. Cette obligation qui s'impose aux chercheurs est d'autant plus forte que l'exis- tence a l'interieur des constitutions federales en particulier et du systeme federal en general des exceptions et des expedients de differente nature conduit a cons- tater que la difference initiale bien qu'existant toujours, est aujourd'hui une difference de degre de decentralisation et non une difference de nature du fait de l'intervention systematique a l'epoque contemporaine des etats dans le do- maine conomique, social et politique
Generally, researchers usually say that federal system is the one which protects local powers and local governements against the domination of the center or the federal government. This is accepted every time when you compare federal state to the other form of state and mainly to the unitary one. The content of this thesis is specially based on the distribution of competences between local governments and the the federal government. But when you study the regional development in the federal states and you oppose it to the structure of the state, you may note that this difference is not so evident. Therefore, we may note that this difference although remaining, is now small because of the existence of exceptions and expedients in federal constitutions and in the federal system itself. In that way we can say that this formally difference is now the difference of degree of decentralization and not really the difference of nature because of the political, social and economic role and influence of contemporary states

The failed attacks of May 19 and 22 produced many opportunities for participants to garner honors or deserve infamy, and those incidents either strengthened the rest of their lives or haunted them forever. A number of Federals failed the test of combat and shirked their duty, but the military justice system was weak and porous at best. While some of these acts of combat failure were officially reported, little was done by the system to punish the men. Officers were allowed to resign and the process of dealing with enlisted men was rarely called into use. It was easier to allow the individual to reflect and improve in his future conduct. Sgt. Joseph E. Griffith became a national hero because of his exploit at Railroad Redoubt. In fact, Griffith eventually won an appointment to West Point where he graduated and became an officer in the U. S. Army. Fourteen-year-old Orion P. Howe of the 55^th Illinois became famous for telling William T. Sherman of the need for more cartridges as he returned from the failed attack of May 19 with a slight wound. Many members of the Forlorn Hope were awarded with Congressional Medals of Honor after the war.
