The purpose of this research is to learn about Oliver Twist's struggles. This research is qualitative, in which the data are in the form of words rather than numbers. The data were collected from the novel, with Oliver Twist as the primary source, and other books that were relevant to this topic. The result shows Oliver was suffering, but he never gave up; instead, he ran away and looked up a lover in London. in his struggle for survival. Oliver shows his hard work in the orphanage and tries hard to break the rule or regulation. Oliver Twist is the first person to speak out against orphan mistreatment in the infant farm, where orphans would go for several nights without food. Oliver is very brave and never afraid of anyone, even though he is still a child. Never think that the world is full of bad people; good people are all around; they embellish good thoughts, nurture fine souls, and welcome you with an open heart. Their positive personality traits have a great impact on lives, and their influences are far stronger and more everlasting. When Mr. Brownlow resolves to save innocent Oliver Twist, nothing can stop him from rescuing the boy. It is also because of Oliver’s pure and good heart.

Oliver Twist is a novel loved by many, read by more. It is a classic novel by Charles Dickens, portraying the life and hardships of a young boy named Oliver Twist, who was born in a work house. Oliver is bright and righteous, the exact opposite of his brother Edward “Monks” Leeford. This essay will follow Oliver and Monks and analyse their characters in the light of the literary hero and the literary villain and in doing so see how Dickens use the characters as literary tools to convey his view of a dark, uncaring Victorian society as well as his hopes for a brighter future. Their strong characteristics make way for a fascinating story, a story that do not only tell us about Oliver’s bravery and Monks’ egoism, but one that do also prove that they are characters created by Dickens to show both the Victorian society that he lived in as well as the society that it could become.

In early 1870, Machado de Assis translated part of Oliver Twist, a novel by Charles Dickens (LÍSIAS, 2002). Although unfinished, since the Brazilian writer stopped his contribution at chapter twenty-eight, this translation presents particularities, which are worth being analysed. It is especially noticeable the French mediation in the translation of the Dickensian novel into Portuguese as well as the manipulation of the narrative, which remodelled the novel (MASSA, 1965). Recent studies approached the issue to a limited extent, mainly for not regarding the implications of both major and minor adjustments promoted by Machado. Hence, this study has a two-fold purpose: a) to investigate the route of Oliver Twist to Brazil, through the analysis of the relation between the English editions of this novel, the French translation made by Alfred Gérardin and the Brazilian translation by Machado de Assis; b) to analyse in detail the procedures adopted by the Brazilian writer while translating Dickens novel and discuss their implications for the narrative structure. The (re)writing of Oliver Twist seems to have encompassed, so as to say, a process of selection of repertoire and formal reorganisation of the narrative, which appears to respond to the specificity of nineteenth-century Brazilian context of reception.

This thesis looks at the criminals of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist as a criminal type: impoverished, unattractive people who lack family roots. It establishes connections between the criminal characters themselves as well as the real-world conditions which inspired their stereotypes. The conditions of poverty and a lack of family being tied to criminality is founded in reality, while the tendency for criminals to be unattractive is based on social bias and prejudice. It also identifies conflicting ideologies in the prevailing Victorian mindset that begins to emerge as a result of research into the criminal type.

With space becoming a newly ubiquitous phenomenon, due to the evident popularisation of space travel, the European Space Agency Education has a mission to educate the future generations of engineers and scientists to accelerate new findings in the field. The Fly a Rocket campaign was curated to involve early undergraduates in the full launch of a sounding rocket, notably the Mongoose 98. In collaboration with Andøya Space Centre, the aim of the launch was to successfully meet the 4 predefined scientific cases. These were named Oliver Twist, The Cloud Atlas, 451 Degrees Fahrenheit and Rock & Roll and the cases were assigned to the three teams working on the campaign: sensors, payload, and telemetry. The week consisted of learning through the form of lectures and practical understanding via the instruction of the Andøya Space Team. The rocket launch culminated on the 4th day of the 5-day campaign, with a weather balloon also gathering atmospheric conditions. Among the presenters of this report, both members had notable roles as the Principal Investigator and Range Control Officer, allowing us to provide both an overall analysis of the mission and in-depth insights, associated with the varying sensors. The Range Control Officer led the countdown procedure to launch alongside the Range Safety Officer, while simultaneously building the pressure sensor. Moreover, the Principal Investigator worked on the magnetometer. Our team will present on behalf of the sensors team and evaluate the accuracy of the sensors to provide valid conclusions for the scientific cases. The team will present whether the accuracy of the data was reliable enough to answer our proposed questions. Additionally, thorough analysis was conducted using OpenRocket to determine its viability for future rocket launches. Issues during the campaign launch included the mismanagement of payload integration being slowed and OpenRocket being inaccurate past a Mach number>2. Ultimately, this report verified some of our cases and provided important telemetry data to improve the use of future launches.
