In India, the urban local bodies do not have decentralization in various functions. Therefore, municipal corporations find various issues in functioning and revenue generation. It has resulted into either shortfall or low quality infrastructure services to people. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is developed as modern municipal corporation. Municipal corporation invested financial resources in development for civic infrastructure. Therefore, population, industries, educational institutions, markets, transport and other facilities are expanding very fast. The ordinary least square regression results shows that the municipal corporation has positive co-relation with revenue receipts from LBT, property tax and town planning. The revenue expenditure is positively co-related with municipal estate, public health and hospitals, primary and secondary education. The engineering work for poor is negatively correlated with revenue expenditure. The capital receipts are positively co-related with fire brigade, auditorium, sports and cultural programs and security deposits and water supply. The capital expenditure is positively co-related to women and child welfare schemes, primary education, environment monitoring. It is negatively co-related with dumping grounds. The municipal corporation must raise funds from capital market through municipal bonds. More investment must be made in civic infrastructure. Similarly, corporation must spend more funds on poor, welfare of women and children. Municipal corporation must monitor and protect environment. It must give more priorities for processing of solid and e-waste, protect local culture, primary and secondary education, health care for all and technology in provision of civic services. It must develop human resource and create best place to live in metropolitan region.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is among the busiest railways reservation systems since the Indian Railways (IR) is the vital and economical mode of transportation in India. Hence, rating of the trains seems to be critical aspect for selecting an appropriate train for travelling. In this study, we have considered 7 vital attributes of 500 popular trains and rate their performance based on 7 important related attributes. For this purpose, we have employed 2 different approaches to analyse of the train attributes, which eventually contribute to the overall performance of the trains. Here, we have developed a rule based rough set decision support system to analyse the criticality of the train attributes while rating the train performance. Furthermore, we have also used 3 Machine Learning (ML) model estimators: Extra Trees Classifier (ETC), Support Vector Machine Classifier (SVMC) and Multinomial Naive Bayes Classifier (MNBC) and perform their comparative analysis with respect to 7 performance metrics while predicting the overall train rating based.

Introduction. The course of processes of situational control and regulation in the business administration of business processes in corporations’ potential management has become the subject of the study. Purpose. The article aims to deepen the theoretical and methodological foundations of assessing the efficiency of business administration of an entrepreneurial corporatized business company in the context of optimizing its organizational and economic development. Results. The system of formalized quantitative assessments of organizational and managerial analysis of the enterprise has been formed. It allows, in a number of cases, to identify certain aspects of compliance with the desirable characteristics of the level of business administration of business processes in order to ensure the rational use of the potential of corporations. The methodical approach for optimizing the density and the radius of administration of business processes of the corporation in the context of rational use of its organizational and economic potential has been proposed. The need to consider certain corrective adjustments (coefficients) for the influence of a number of important factors has been specified. Among these factors, we can identify the following ones: the characteristic of the transport and logistics component of individual strategic business units of the corporation, their organizational and technical level of production, the quality of the impact of structural changes in the strategic potential of the corporation relative to each strategic business units etc. The research has been conducted on the basis of a conditional example of business process optimization of a corporation. The company has a head office and separate strategic business units in different cities of Ukraine, in terms of increasing the efficiency of using its production and economic, organizational and economic potential on the basis of improving the value of the weighted average radius and the density of administration. We have analysed the average weighted areas of corporation administration with respect to the coordinates of the real and optimal administration centre. Conclusions as for the necessity of introduction of measures aimed at reducing the distance between real and optimal administrative centres have been made. It will certainly help to increase the effectiveness of the impact of the level of administration on business processes of the corporation. The offered approach to optimize the density and the radius of administration of business processes of the corporation in the context of rational use of its organizational and economic potential will allow improving the efficiency of the processes of situational control and regulation in business administration of corporations in the conditions of constant dynamic transformations of market space.

This paper reports the development of a public transport trip planner to help the urban traveller in planning and preparing for his commute using public transportation in the city. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) approach that handles real-time Global Positioning Systems (GPS) data from buses of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) in Chennai City (India) has been used to develop the planner. The GA has been shown to provide good solutions within the problem’s computation time constraints. The developed trip planner has been implemented for static network data first and subsequently extended to use real-time data. The “walk mode” and Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) have also been included in the geospatial database to extend the route-planner’s capabilities. The algorithm has subsequently been segmented to speed up the prediction process. In addition, a temporal cache has also been introduced during implementation, to handle multiple queries generated simultaneously. The results showed that there is promise for scalability and citywide implementation for the proposed real-time route-planner. The uncertainty and poor service quality perceived with public transport bus services in India could potentially be mitigated by further developments in the route-planner introduced in this paper.

The present study proposes to evaluate HRMpracticesfollowed in the public sector transport undertaking of Himachal Pradesh, viz., Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). The study mainly focuses on examining the perceptions of HRTC employees and their satisfaction level towards HRM practices followed in HRTC. Sample consists of 120 respondents of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh and the judgmental sampling method has been followed. The conclusion drawn from the study is that HRM practices have a major impact on satisfaction level of employees of HRTC.

The sustainability and balance of companies’ growth, especially if they are systemically important for the national economy, is essential for ensuring sustainable development. The article analyzes the balanced growth equilibrium rule for Russian corporations from leading industries: oil and gas industry, transport, metallurgy, and retail. Paper used the data of the official consolidated financial statements for 2011-2019. It is concluded that Russian corporations’ growth is not balanced, which can have negative consequences both for their long-term development and for their stakeholders: employees, suppliers, and local communities. In 2019, no corporation demonstrated a balanced growth for key economic indicators. A misbalance in growth is typically observed in two indicators - sales revenue and profit on sales. The paper concludes that tendency highlighted leads to weak in investment and other important activities, including sustainable development goal achievement.

In the industrial scenario of India, both employer and employee play a vital role. In some service-oriented industries both should work together for the enhancement of customer satisfaction. As the management starts taking constructive steps for cordial relations with the unions, unions are also responding to the cordial steps the organization might take to achieve their goals faster. This is the key to a sincere and cordial atmosphere between the union and the management. When the two parties think that their relationship should move from an unproductive state to productive state, outside interference from the state government, arbitrators or negotiators becomes redundant. If this doesn’t happen, the strength of conviction can be tested and resources should be provided to reinforce those convictions. Furthermore, each party must be introspective of their way of functioning instead of blaming the other party. The consequence of this acknowledgement is that both the parties would think that they have to change for the betterment of the relationships and for the long run of the organization. Sometimes, what the parties are prepared for might be an improvement of quality of relationships through committees established for health, occupational hazards 34 safety and security. The involvement of external facilitators might sometimes highlight the shortcomings of the relationships between the union and the management. Where the parties feel that their relations are on the verge of a breakdown and that rectification might not be possible, they might focus on overall relationships. But to establish a cordial relationship might be a challenge between these two parties. The Relationship Programme by objectives adopted in North America since 1975 is a good example of this situation. Another successful model is the 7-step model for improving union–management relationship (Cohen – Rosenthal & Burton 1994). Because of the lack of resources, industrial relations might get affected. The resources can be anything from financial, human, marketing or physical resources. The effect of bad industrial relations will have a multiplier effect (effect upon sectors). It can be gauged by the fall in normal tempo, resistance to change, frustration and social cost. This study proceeds to find out the ways to increase customer satisfaction by improving Union-management relations.

The growth of any developing economy depends largely on its transport sector. Growing economy leads to more job opportunities and movement of people from rural to urban areas. Public road transport hence plays a significant role as a support system in carrying passengers. This paper discusses the efficiency of State Transport Undertakings of India, in particular, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) using the technique of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and regression analysis. A data set of 46 State Transport Undertakings of India have been considered for the study. DEA was applied to compute the efficiencies of units under study. Potential improvements in the input and output variables were computed for the inefficient units. Regression analysis was then performed to identify the explanatory variables that significantly affect the input and output variables. It was observed that DTC is one amongst the worst performers. It showed a technical inefficiency of 50.94% and was operating on decreasing returns to scale. Further, DTC needs to increase its output substantially in order to attain the level of efficiency. Also it is not utilizing its resources optimally as it needs to reduce all its inputs. In other words, DTC is not utilizing its resources as optimally as its efficient peers. This paper is an attempt to apply regression technique along with the non parametric technique of Data Envelopment Analysis so that the decision makers of DTC can identify the areas where improvement is required and plan a strategy to improve their performance. This would enable DTC to move from a loss incurring to a profit making unit.

This article presents an analysis of intellectual capital; its management, features and processes by which intellectual capital of a company can be evaluated. The main elements of intellectual capital (human, structural and relationship capital) are presented and used in research. After surveying bibliography, intellectual capital evaluation model, which applies to Lithuanian and Latvian companies operating in the transport sector, is created. The research is based on the value-added intellectual capital factor model, the relationship between indicators, multi-asset return correlation and regression analysis and generation of alternatives to intellectual capital performance-enhancing. Following an assessment of intellectual capital of Lithuanian and Latvian transport sectors, on the basis of the results, it was found that the intellectual capital is a key factor in corporation management to increase revenue.

The distribution channel structure significantly affects the distribution costs, and in the food industry the distribution costs have very often an important share on the total products cost. In the food industry, merger & acquisition conditions in the Czech Republic are the expected synergic effects. One of them is the cost saving following up from the redesign of the distribution system. On the case of a real project of the new mineral waters distribution system, the authors demonstrate their methodology and methods for the distribution system redesign, which integrates together the problem of the distribution object location with the distribution strategy choice and transport system design.

Much has been written on the history of the railways and other transport forms in Ireland, from technological, economic, social and labour history viewpoints. However, the history of another important nineteenth-century transport form, the hackney carriage, remains neglected. In this article, it will be argued, using the hackney carriage business in Cork as a case study, that the hackney carriage was an important vehicle (both literal and metaphorical) in facilitating Cork’s development as a modern city with an urban centre surrounded by a suburban hinterland. Further, by examining in detail the workings of the Hackney Carriage Committee of the Cork Corporation, I will argue that the hackney carriage drivers, colloquially referred to as ginglemen or jinglemen, were for the most part a precarious working class who were policed by the Corporation, the Hackney Carriage Committee and the by-law governing their livelihoods. As such, the bye-law and the apparatus that implemented it was a form of liberal governmentality and social control over a portion of Cork’s working class.

The selection of an appropriate strategic alliance plays a crucial role in determining the effectiveness and success of numerous enterprises. In the global logistics industry, strategic alliances have experienced significant growth and achieved considerable success. However, in Vietnam, logistics companies continue to operate independently, lacking the necessary connectivity. Hence, this research aims to propose an effective approach utilizing Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to assist in selecting suitable alliance partners. Additionally, the Resampling method is employed to forecast future effectiveness. The study utilizes actual public financial data from 30 logistics companies in Vietnam over a span of 10 consecutive years (2013-2022). The target decision-making unit (DMU) in this analysis is Gemadept Corporation. The findings indicate that among simulated 29 scenario, Hai An Transport & Stevedoring JSC (DMU6), Petrovietnam Transportation Corporation (DMU18), South Logistics Joint Stock Company (DMU21), Transimex Corporation (DMU23), Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Corporation (DMU28), and West Coach Station Joint Stock Company (DMU30) are feasible alliance partners for Gemadept Corporation, contributing to enhanced long-term operational efficiency. Moreover, the research results not only demonstrate the effectiveness level from the target company's perspective but also consider it from the partner company's viewpoint. The implications of this research will yield additional knowledge and contribute to the development of the global logistics industry as a whole, with specific benefits for the logistics sector in Vietnam. Sustainable transport is a critical and complex issue that the world is currently facing. Managers of railway companies in particular face significant challenges in achieving self-sustainable management of their assets. This paper introduces a new causal loop and explores the interaction among company dimensions—including financial, social, and environmental aspects—in order to assess the financially sustainable management of Raja Corporation, one of the largest railway companies in Iran. Our main contribution is the proposed system dynamics (SD) model, which can aid in policy analysis for Raja, a company that operates multiple routes within the country. The presented model compares different strategies employed by Raja using economic, social, and environmental indicators to evaluate the financial sustainability of the company. Our findings demonstrate that government subsidies may boost the company’s revenue, but they also hinder the rate of profits. Additionally, we highlight the impact of inflation on the company’s financial sustainability, showing that higher ticket prices may have a considerable impact on profits. The proposed approach of using the SD model may help specialists evaluate the sustainability management of transport sector corporations and significantly enhance their performance. This study highlights the importance of taking a comprehensive approach to assess the financial sustainability of railway companies, considering the interdependencies among various dimensions of each company. The findings of this study may have implications for policymakers, managers, and researchers in the transport sector, especially those who are interested in sustainable management practices.

For many years now, a variety of studies have proven the strong relationship between productivity and profitability. However, simply earning a profit does not necessarily mean that the firm is productive. Many highly productive firms face financial losses, whereas less productive ones’ experience significant profits. This paper examines the dynamics of how productivity really matters for profitability. The paper uses a non-parametric index number approach to estimate the productivity, profitability, and price performance of a publicly owned, once world’s largest, bus transport corporation operating in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to examine these dynamics. The paper finds that when public organizations are constrained from raising the prices of their services, productivity gains may not be adequate to counterbalance the impact of rising prices of major inputs. Moreover, loss-making organizations, even if they are publicly owned, would find it hard to improve both the quality and quantity of their services.

Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC and Delhi Metro-Rail System (DMRS) are two important public transport systems in Delhi. The DMRS has been attractive in respect to ridership but in 2015 it has shown a decrease in its ridership. It has also been found that ridership of the bus service, the most important public transport system for the poor in Delhi, has decreased over time whereas the numbers of private vehicles have recorded phenomenal increase resulting in traffic congestions and pollution problems in the city. The purpose of this study is to explore the role of the fear of crimes along with other reasons for decreasing trends in the usage of public transport in Delhi. The study is based on people opinion and perception for which 350 persons were interviewed with the structured questionnaire from ten transit places having varied socio-economic conditions. Fear of crimes within buses/coaches is considered an important reason for not using public transport in western countries but as per this study, the same is not true in the case of Delhi. Role of fear of crimes along with other factors was verified with the spearman’s correlation coefficient. The weak negative correlation has been found between the preference to public bus services and the fear of crimes; the crowing; the unavailability. It indicates that along with these other factors are equally responsible for the choice of public transports in Delhi.

Appraisal experts are in demand for economic and industrial development in various areas such as appraisal corporations, financial institutions, agricultural cooperatives, LH, and SOC public corporations such as local public corporation, and public officials in charge of official prices. However, domestic universities and graduate schools do not have departments and majors that grant ‘bachelor's degrees for appraisal’ independently and so, to pass the appraiser test, the students who have taken various majors should rely on private appraiser institutes and test books in order to pass the exam for the appraisal experts. Therefore, the demand for experts related to appraisal at home and abroad is expected to continue to grow due to structural changes in the appraisal market with the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution and, according to this, the ‘Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’ and ‘Korea Association of Property Appraisers’ need to actively respond to the development of appraisal convergence talent having professionalism. This study is a part of the policy model of the detailed implementation plan of both ‘the improvement plan to strengthen the competitiveness of the appraisal industry’ and that of ‘the first basic plan for promoting the real estate service industry (2021-2025)’, which is proposed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and its purpose is to suggest the model of ‘human resources development project in the form of collaboration between ministries’ as a policy of the experts development in the appraisal industry and the convergence education.

In Khulna, Bangladesh, mechanical faecal sludge (FS) emptying and transport (E&T) service is provided by community development committees (CDCs) and the Khulna City Corporation (KCC). Without considering capital expenditure and depreciation, financial analysis for one year revealed that a CDC-1 m3 vacutug made a profit of Bangladeshi taka (BDT) 145,780 (USD $1746) whereas a KCC-2 m3 vacutug was in the loss of BDT 218,179 (USD $2613). There is a need to engage the private sector for sustainable service provision. Some of the key elements of enabling the environment for private sector engagement are policy/strategy, institutional and regulatory framework, implementation capacity, and financial viability. Existing policy/strategy/frameworks acknowledged the need and suggested plans for private sector engagement, and decentralised authority to city corporations. With increasing private-public partnership projects and collaboration in the sanitation sector, capacity of the KCC and the private sector are increasing. Financial viability of the FS E&T business is primarily dependent on the number of trips and the emptying fee. For the E&T business to be financially viable, a 2 m3 vacutug should make six trips/day (internal rate of return (IRR)—13%, discount rate—6.5%) with an emptying fee of BDT 750 (USD $9)/m3. Despite the lack of operative guidelines for faecal sludge management (FSM), enabling the environment for private sector engagement in FS E&T business in Khulna seems favourable.

Road transportation in Tamilnadu is growing day by day. Job stress in the road transportation is very high due to increase in number of vehicle playing on the road and heavy traffic. The drivers and conductors working in public transport corporation are suffering from high job stress. If drivers and conductors are not satisfied with their job which leads to mental stresses and affects the productivity and also creates accidents. In this present study the researchers made an attempt to study the level of job satisfaction among the drivers and conductors who are working in the Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). The study reveals the expectations of drivers and conductors working in TNSTC with regards to the attributes like salary, promotion and fringe benefits etc., are satisfactory and not detrimental.

Any fundamental change in structures, processes or business operations is bound to trigger reactions from stakeholders’ perception about the intention to change. These reactions need to be addressed with due consideration to the stakeholders’ interest or else may prove detrimental to all. Resolving disputes and trade unions roles are crucial in establishing peace and safeguarding the interest of employees. Trade unions initiate dialogues, organize collective actions and use the dispute machinery for resolving conflicts to bring an agreeable solution satisfying all. Collective bargaining is a major tool towards a mutual consensus and agreement through bipartite measures. Continuous efforts at arriving at a mutual agreement may fail and resorting to the third-party intervention may hold the key to arriving at an agreeable and a peaceful end to problems. This has been demonstrated in the given case. Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is a major player in roadways transportation with very low competition from private transporters. The corporation provides comfortable and economical services to the passengers and holds a monopoly position with the private operators relying heavily on infrastructure support of the corporation. The state government decided to introduce public–private partnership (PPP) model on which UPSRTC model would work. Such a move by the government was not acceptable to the unions and the employees. Major agitations and intervention of the court forced the government to withdraw some of its decisions perceived as a threat and detrimental to the corporation.

After its establishment in the year 1999, commuters were hopeful but very less development and improvement was reported for six years. Mr P.C. Sehgal took over as Managing Director of MRVC in the year 2005. The primary task of Mr P.C. Sehgal was to implement the rail development plan proposed by Mumbai Urban Transport Project within the deadlines. Implementation of the given plan had various challenges and required high degree of coordination with different stakeholders (like Government of Maharashtra, Central Railway, Western Railway, etc.). It also required taking important decisions to move work fast and dealing with media and public pressure. The objective of the study is to evaluate performance influencing factors in Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) through mixed research method, qualitative and quantitative analysis. The primary data were obtained from in-depth interview with fifteen government and NAC executives. Secondary data were collected from Nepal Government, NAC publications and International Air Transport Association (IATA). Revenue generation and passenger movement rate is found with average performance. Motivated employee, entrepreneurial marketing, collective leadership, ownership feeling of government and environmental support were explored as key performance factors. Sophisticated technology, airworthiness, and international standard and recommended practice were found as unique features. Lack of aircraft, unfair political influence and alienation of staffs in unionism were identified the reasons of lacking the business growth. A performance framework is proposed which comprises entrepreneurial marketing (proactiveness, risk taking, innovativeness, opportunity focused, resource leveraging, customer intensity and value creation), collective leadership, sophisticated technology and sufficient number of modern aircrafts, service reliability and safety, and government support. The study recommends Nepal government to take ownership of NAC, and adopt fair and professional management practice rather than political quota distribution in its governing body, board of directors.

Currently, micro-power wireless communication technology used in power user electrical energy data acquire system have some problems such as transport distance, power, data rate, antenna length, interaction (standard), deployment environment, stray radiation and so on. This paper proposed a micro-power wireless communication module which meets the State Grid Corporation of China Enterprise Standard Q/GDW 1374.3-2013 was designed by the author,and the key technology and major problems were researched and analyzed.
