The mechanical properties of joined structures are determined considerably by the chosen joining technology. With the aim of providing a method that enables a faster and more profound decision-making in the spatial distribution of joining points during product development, a new method for the load path analysis of joining points is presented. For an exemplary car body, the load type in the joining elements, i.e. pure tensile, shear and combined tensile-shear loads, is determined using finite element analysis (FEA). Based on the evaluated loads, the resulting load paths in selected joining points are analyzed using a 2D FE-model of a clinching point. State of the art methods for load path analysis are dependent on the selected coordinate system or the existing stress state. Thus, a general statement about the load transmission path is not possible at this time. Here, a novel method for the analysis of load paths is used, which is independent of the alignment of the analyzed geometry. The basic assumption of the new load path analysis method was confirmed by using a simple specimen with a square hole in different orientations. The results presented here show a possibility to display the load transmission path invariantly. In further steps, the method will be extended for 3D analysis and the investigation of more complex assemblies. The primary goal of this methodical approach is an even load distribution over the joining elements and the component. This will provide a basis for future design approaches aimed at reducing the number of joining elements in joined structures.

The vibration transmission path systems are generally composed of the vibration source, the vibration transfer path, and the vibration receiving structure. The transfer path is the medium of the vibration transmission. Moreover, the randomness of transfer path influences the transfer reliability greatly. In this paper, based on the matrix calculus, the generalized second moment technique, and the stochastic finite element theory, the effective approach for the transfer reliability of vibration transfer path systems was provided. The transfer reliability of vibration transfer path system with uncertain path parameters including path mass and path stiffness was analyzed theoretically and computed numerically, and the correlated mathematical expressions were derived. Thus, it provides the theoretical foundation for the dynamic design of vibration systems in practical project, so that most random path parameters can be considered to solve the random problems for vibration transfer path systems, which can avoid the system resonance failure.

The perforant path provides the main excitatory input into the hippocampus and has been proposed to play a critical role in the generation of temporal lobe seizures. It has been hypothesized that changes in glutamatergic transmission in this pathway promote the epileptogenic process and seizure generation. We therefore asked whether epileptogenesis is associated with enhanced glutamatergic transmission from the perforant path to dentate granule cells. We used a rat model of temporal lobe epilepsy in which spontaneous seizures occur after an episode of pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus. Whole cell patch-clamp recordings were obtained from dentate granule cells in hippocampal slices from control and epileptic animals 3 wk after pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus. The paired pulse ratio of perforant path-evoked AMPA receptor-mediated excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs) was reduced in tissue obtained from epileptic rats. This is consistent with an increase in release probability. N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor-mediated EPSCs were also prolonged. This prolongation could not be accounted for by decreased activity of glutamate transporters or by a change in NMDA receptor subunit composition in dentate granule cells, implying a change in NMDA receptor kinetics. This change in NMDA receptor kinetics was associated with the emergence of significant synaptic cross-talk, detected as a use-dependent block of receptors activated by medial perforant path synapses after lateral perforant path stimulation in MK-801. Enhanced glutamatergic transmission and the emergence of cross-talk among perforant path-dentate granule cell synapses may contribute to lowering seizure threshold.

In SCTP’s Concurrent Multipath Transfer, if data is sent to the destined IP(s) without knowledge of the paths condition, packets may be lost or delayed. This is because of the bursty nature of IP traffic and physical damage to the network. To offset these problems, network path status is examined using our new mechanism Multipath State Aware Concurrent Multipath Transfer using redundant transmission (MSACMT-RTv2). Here the status of multiple paths is analyzed, initially and periodically thereafter transmitted. After examination, paths priority is assigned before transmission. One path is temporarily employed as redundant path for the failure-expected path (FEP); this redundant path is used for transmitting redundant data. At the end of predefined period, reliability of the FEP is confirmed. If FEP is ensured to be reliable, temporary path is transformed into normal CMT path. MSACMT-RTv2 algorithm is simulated using the Delaware University ns-2 SCTP/CMT module (ns-2; V2.29). We present and discuss MSACMT-RTv2 performance in asymmetric path delay and with finite receiver buffer (rbuf) size. We extended our experiment to test robustness of this algorithm and inferred exhaustive result. It is inferred that our algorithm outperforms better in terms of increasing the throughput and reducing the latency than existing system.

The Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) establishes a transport layer framework for multihomed communication where the standard failover mechanism improves the transmission resilience. A delay-centric handover mechanism for SCTP have been proposed to improve the end-to-end delay of real-time multimedia transmissions. In this paper, we explore the coexistence of delay-centric handover and standard SCTP failover to identify whether they work together to select a communication path that preserves voice transmission quality. The study was performed using computer simulations, which allowed us to evaluate users' perceived quality and network stability for several conditions of traffic load and packet loss ratio. Although voice quality is generally improved, conflicting decision about interface selection resulted in performance degradation under certain conditions. The global stability of the delay-centric operation when multiple independent voice transmissions compete for the available bandwidth was also evaluated. Simulations showed that under high link utilization, instabilities due to frequent path switching may lead to lower voice quality.

Data security is very important in the multi-path transmission networks (MTN). Efficient data security measurement in MTN is crucial so as to ensure the reliability of data transmission. To this end, this paper presents an improved algorithm using single-single minimal path based back-up path (SSMP-BP), which is designed to ensure the data transmission when the second path is out of work. From the simulation study, the proposed algorithm has the better network reliability compared with existing double minimal path based backup path (DMP-BP) approach. It could be found that, the proposed algorithm uses less back-up paths compared with DMP-BP so that less network resources like nodes are achieved.

Energy Conservation has been the focus in the ad hoc wireless network study. As the capacity of battery is limited, node will lose its function once its energy is exhausted. This thesis is aiming to calculate among the multiple transmission paths and find out a path which consumes the least energy. Previous studies are focused on finding the minimum hop path in transmission. In this study we propose to use the square of the distance between nodes as a proxy to the power consumption as the transmission power is proportional to the square of the distance between the nodes. We simulate the node transmission by limiting node out-degree in broadcasting and calculate the minimum sum of the square of distance between nodes in the path to find a path which has the least energy consumption.

The change in characteristics of ultrasonic waves’ transmittion in solid rotating media is the basis for the operation of acoustic angular velocity sensor. The transmission coefficient of the sensing element (SE) of the acoustic path deter-mines the level of angular velocity sensor informative signal based on detecting changes in characteristics of bulk acoustic waves in solid media. In this regard, the efforts aimed at obtaining maximum transmission coefficient are relevant and represent an important stage in the design of such devices. The sensitive element of the acoustic path consists of radiating and receiving plate piezoelectric transducers, propagation medium (acoustic duct), contact layers and electrical load. The coefficient is identical to the path of ultrasonic delay lines on bulk acoustic waves. Although, many sources present the theoretical analysis of the path of this type, they carry out the analysis in so-called one-dimensional approximation, i.e. they perform the analysis without taking into account the limited transverse dimensions, whereas the path of the sensing element should have limited lateral dimensions, which can affect the value of transmission coefficient. The above-mentioned sources do not present the results of experiments. Thus, it is necessary to conduct a complex of simulation and experiments to analyze the acoustic path transmission coefficient of the angular velocity sensor. Authors of the paper developed a pathmodeling program in Mathcad software to perform simulation. For implementation of the experiment, authors created the installation, as well as a number of proto-types with transducers made of piezoelectric quartz and piezoelectric ceramics. The results demonstrate that fundamental statements developed for one-dimensional approximation one can use to determine the transmission coefficient of the acoustic path with limited dimensions. Besides, the use of the matched electrical load gives the opportunity to increase the transmission coefficient. For example, in case of Y-cut piezoelectric quartz converter prototype the increase reached 20 dB.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are emerging in various application like military, area monitoring, health monitoring, industry monitoring and many more. The challenges of the successful WSN application are the energy consumption problem. since the small, portable batteries integrated into the sensor chips cannot be re-charged easily from an economical point of view. This work focusses on prolonging the network lifetime of WSNs by reducing and balancing energy consumption during routing process from hop number point of view. In this paper, performance simulation was done between two types of protocols LEACH that uses single hop path and MODLEACH that uses multi hop path by using Intel Care i3 CPU (2.13GHz) laptop with MATLAB (R2014a). The simulation results showed how the multi-hop protocol was more energy efficient than single hop protocol.

This paper studies the basic features and functions of STCP. The traditional TCP protocol and the basic standard SCTP protocols are simulated respectively. We analysis that when the host has multiple network addresses and there are multiple paths between ends, how do the STCP protocol and TCP protocol perform. For practical implementation, using CWND size parameters show performance of multi path transmission in practice, and compare with the ideal case. The results of the simulation and analysis of multi path transmission under the SCTP agreement have practical significance in the future network with multi path transmission.

This paper proposed a new Ad Hoc dynamic routing algorithm, which based on ant-colony algorithm in order to reasonably extend the dynamic allocation of network traffic and network lifetime. The Algorithm update the routing table by dynamic collection of path information after path established. The analyse shows that algorithm increases the network throughput, reduces the average end-to-end packet transmission latency, and extends the network lifetime, achieves an improving performance.

This article addresses the problem related to the reliability of path after transmitting the given amount of data with the service-level agreement cooperation in the computer communication network. The links have associated with service performance factor parameter during the data transmission, and each node is associated with the requested service performance factor. In this article, first we have considered the single objective to minimize the transmission time of the quickest path problem. An algorithm for quickest path problem has been proposed for results, and furthermore, its time complexity has been shown. The problem has been extended with bi-objective optimization of the quickest path problem, which minimizes the transmission time and hybrid logarithmic reliability. An algorithm is proposed for getting the number of efficient solutions for the quickest path problem using label-correcting algorithm. The algorithms are implemented and tested on different standard benchmark network problems provided with the set of Pareto front of the results.
