Annotation:

The taxonomic structure of the Therates fruhstorferi species complex (sensu lato) within the batesi-species group is revised. The lectotypes and paralectotypes of Therates fruhstorferi W. Horn, 1902 and Therates fruhstorferi sauteri W. Horn, 1912 are designated. Therates biserratus Tan, Mo, Liang, 1991 and T. vitalisi ida Mandl, 1954 are restored from the synonyms of T. vitalisi W. Horn, 1913 as the separate species and subspecies, respectively while T. sauteri is considered as a separate species, but not as a subspecies of T. fruhstorferi. Three species and two subspecies are described as new: T. fruhstorferi australis ssp. n.—from southern Vietnam; T. pseudovitalisi sp. n.—from northern Laos; T. pseudovitalisi tibetana ssp. n.—from eastern Tibet, China; T. hunanensis sp. n.—from the Chinese Province Hunan; T. ziyardamensis sp. n.—from northern Myanmar. An identification key and distribution map of the species of Therates fruhstorferi complex are provided.

e14297 Background: The induction of powerful CD8+ T cell immunity to tumor associated self-antigens (TAAs) represents a critical yet challenging goal. Here we report on the development of an arenavirus-based delivery platform meeting this challenge. Previously we have shown that genetically engineered replication-attenuated lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) vectors, TheraT(LCMV), induce strong TAA-specific CD8 T cell immunity, but these responses can not be substantially augmented upon TheraT(LCMV) readministration. Counter to expectations, vector-neutralizing antibodies were not accountable for limited homologous prime-boosting capacity. Instead, dominant viral backbone-reactive CD8+ T cells competed against subdominant TAA-specific responses, limiting their magnitude. Methods: Herein we engineered and characterized delivery systems based on the arenaviruses Mopeia, Candid#1 and Pichinde (TheraT(MOP), TheraT(CAND), TheraT(PIC)). Results: We demonstrate that heterologous TheraT(CAND) – TheraT(LCMV) and TheraT(PIC)-TheraT(LCMV) prime-boost substantially augment TAA-specific CD8 T cell responses by rendering them immunodominant. Accordingly, intravenous administration of mice triggered up to 50% TAA epitope-specific CD8+ T cells and cured established tumors. Conversely, TheraT(MOP) – TheraT(LCMV) prime-boost was poorly immunogenic owing to cross-reactive T cell epitopes in the respective viral backbones. Conclusions: These findings establish heterologous arenavirus prime-boost combinations as a powerful new modality in tumor immunotherapy and highlight CD8 T cell epitope dominance as a significant hurdle to overcome in the vectored delivery of TAAs.

Bonding to zirconia presents a great challenge, as the clinical guidelines for predictable adhesion are not sufficiently validated. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of various bonding methodologies of various resin cements on zirconia, using different aging protocols. Manufactured zirconia specimens (N = 300 and n = 20 per group) were randomly assigned to three luting protocols: 1—in mould incremental build up; 2—in mould incremental build up with mould removal; 3—in mould non-incremental bulk build up. Five dual, photo- and chemical-cure resin cements were used, namely, Variolink Esthetic (Ivoclar), Tetric (Ivoclar), Panavia (Kuraray), TheraCem (Bisco), and RelyX UniCem (3M ESPE), and were applied on primed zirconia using photopolymerization protocols. Thereafter, the specimens were subjected to the following three ageing methods: 1—dry; 2—thermocycling (×5000; 5–55 °C); 3—3–6 months of water storage. Using a universal testing machine, the specimens were loaded under shear, at 1 mm/min crosshead speed. An analysis of the data was performed using three-way ANOVA and the Bonferroni method. The moulding type, ageing and luting cement significantly affected the results (p < 0.05). Among all the protocols under dry conditions, TheraCem (16 ± 3; 11 ± 1; 16 ± 3) showed the best bond strength, while, after thermocycling, TheraCem (7 ± 2) and Tetric (7 ± 2) performed the best with Protocol 1. In Protocol 2, RelyX (7 ± 3) presented the highest result, followed by TheraCem (5 ± 3) and Tetric (5 ± 1) (p < 0.05). Using Protocol 3, RelyX (10 ± 6) showed the highest result, followed by TheraCem (7 ± 2) and Panavia21 (7 ± 2) (p < 0.05). Six months after water storage, TheraCem presented the highest result (10 ± 2) in Protocol 1, while, in Protocols 2 and 3, Tetric (10 ± 2; 15 ± 5) presented the highest result, followed by TheraCem (6 ± 2; 8 ± 3). Adhesion tests using the incremental or bulk method, using moulds, showed the highest results, but removing the mould, and the subsequent ageing, caused a decrease in the adhesion of the resin cements tested on zirconia, probably due to water absorption, with the exclusion of Tetric.

Considering the large area of the Indian subcontinent, its known millipede diversity is sparse with only ca. 270 described species in 90 genera, 25 families and 11 orders. So far, not a single polyzoniidan millipede has been described from India. The order Polyzoniida Cook, 1895 is one of the most species-poor millipede groups with less than 80 described species, and includes taxonomically problematic groups, especially in the family Siphonotidae Cook, 1895. Here we report the first representatives of the order Polyzoniida from India, and describe the new genus Theratta n. gen., with the three species Theratta mannavan n. sp., Theratta eravikulam n. sp., and Theratta shola n. sp., using scanning electron microscopy and COI genetic barcoding. Based on the morphological characters we place Theratta n. gen., and the three new species in the tribe Rhinotini Hoffman, 1977 of the family Siphonotidae. The gonopods of the new genus are similar to those of the genus Rhinotus Cook, 1896, but differ from all other Rhinotini in the modification of the podomere II of the anterior telopod, carrying a mesal process on the posterior side and a lamellar process on the anterior side. The three newly described species show a high interspecific genetic distance of 20.9–25.3%. The specimens were collected from the Shola forests (high altitude montane forests) of the southern Western Ghats in Kerala, India. We suggest that more extensive sampling in this area and in the Indian subcontinent in general will yield more new millipede species for science and expand our understanding of the hitherto neglected Indian millipede fauna.

Background Sexual dimorphism, driven by sexual selection, leads to varied morphological distinctions in male and female insects, providing insights into selection pressures across species. However, research on the morphometric variability within specific taxa of tiger beetles (Coleoptera: Cicindelidae), particularly arboreal and semi-arboreal species, remains very limited. Methods We investigate sexual dimorphism in six semi-arboreal Therates tiger beetle taxa from the Philippines, focusing on morphological traits. We employed morphometric measurements and multivariate analyses to reveal patterns of sexual dimorphism between sexes within the taxa. Results Our results indicate significant sexual dimorphism in elytra width, with females consistently displaying broader elytra, potentially enhancing fecundity. Notable sexual size dimorphism was observed in Therates fulvipennis bidentatus and T. coracinus coracinus, suggesting heightened sexual selection pressures on male body size. Ecological factors, mating behavior, and female mate choice might contribute to the observed morphological variation. These findings emphasize the need for further studies to comprehend mating dynamics, mate choice, and ecological influences on morphological variations in semi-arboreal and arboreal tiger beetles.

e14303 Background: Active immunization against cancer requires the induction of exquisitely potent tumor-specific CD8+ T cell (CTL) responses, which can be repeatedly boosted and reactivated. Hookipa Pharma engineered a replication-attenuated viral vector platform (TheraT) based on the arenavirus lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV), which meets these aforementioned criteria. Here, we present a preclinical data package of Hookipa´s lead immunotherapy product HB-201, targeting HPV16-driven cancer. Methods: TheraT-E7E6 encodes a highly immunogenic, non-oncogenic version of the human papilloma virus 16 (HPV16) oncoproteins E7 and E6. Results: Attenuation and safety of TheraT-E7E6 were demonstrated by i) rapid viral clearance after systemic administration of the vector and ii) reduced neurovirulence in mice.TheraT-E7E6 can be administered intravenously as systemic therapy or intratumorally as local therapy with an abscopal-like effect. Treatment was shown to induce substantial CD8+ T cell expansion and high frequencies of E7- and E6-specific CTL responses with a balanced effector / central memory profile. These responses were boosted and reactivated upon TheraT-E7E6 re-administration. TheraT-E7E6 eradicated palpable tumors in a syngeneic mouse TC-1 tumor model of HPV-driven cancer. Even in mice with large tumors (~300mm3) TheraT-E7E6 afforded significant tumor control and improved survival, with high frequencies of E7-specific CTLs persisting for several weeks. Animals which cleared the tumor after TheraT therapy were long term protected from tumor re-challenge. Furthermore, TheraT is efficacious in checkpoint inhibitory refractory models and can also synergize in combination with checkpoint inhibitors (CPIs). Conclusions: In conclusion, replication-attenuated TheraT-E7E6 is safe, highly immunogenic and shows excellent therapeutic efficacy as mono- or combination therapy in a preclinical model of HPV-induced cancer. Clinical trials for the treatment of HPV16+ cancers will be initiated in 2019.

Health decentralization allows the Bandar Lampung City Health Office to design programs and service activities that are appropriate to local conditions. Based on data obtained from the HR department of private hospitals in Bandar Lampung City, the number of employees in private hospitals is 326 people and therate turnover reaches more than 10% per year. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between psychological well-being and job satisfaction with therate turnover at the Bandar Lampung City Private Hospital. The results of the study found that Job Satisfaction and Psychological Wellbeing had a simultaneous effect on employee turnover. This is evidenced by the statistical results of F count 18,539 > F table value of 3.07, with a significance of 0.00; Job satisfaction has a significant effect on employee turnover with a t-table value of 1.657 and a t-count value of 3.437; Psychological Wellbeing has a significant effect on employee turnover, with t count of 6.051 which means t count > t table (6.051> 1.657) and sig 0.00 < 0.05.

The objective of this research paper is to try to evaluate the effectiveness of monetary policy on economic growth and inflation in Algeria, using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM ) and quarterly data covering the first trimester from 1990 to the fourth trimester from 2016 , which relates to the following variables: the rate ofGrowth of the monetary mass, inflation rate and the rate of growth of gross domestic product. The results of the response Functions analysis indicated that a random shock in therate of growth of monetary mass by one standard deviation would always have a positive effect onrate of growth of gross domestic product (GDP). in contrast, a random shock in therate of growth of monetary mass by one standard deviation would have a positive effect on inflation rate in the short term and the impact of the shock would then fade in the medium term and then turn negative in the long term, the study also showed that monetary policy has a great effect on the macro economy in Algeria.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam jangka pendek jumlah PUAS, jumlah SBIS dan jumlah keuangan bank Islam syariah dalam hubungan yang stabil untuk therate inflasi.

An assessment of tiger beetles in select mountains of Davao region including Mt. Hamiguitan (MHRWS), Marilog District (MD), Davao City (DC), Sta. Cruz Davao del Sur (SCD), and Davao de Oro (DO) is herein presented. Materials were collected between December 2017 and February 2019 through a combination of opportunistic and standard light trapping methods. Twenty-two species belonging to 9 genera were recorded with 64% endemic in the Philippines. Nine (9) species are recorded from MHRWS, 6 from MD, 8 from DC, 5 SCD, and 14 from DO (formerly Compostela Valley Province). Tiger beetles showed consistent habitat preferences particularly riparian species which includes the genera Calomera, Thopeutica, Therates, Prothyma, Cylindera, and Heptodonta. Strictly arboreal species include Tricondyla, Therates, and Neocollyris. Strict epigeic species include but not limited to the genera Calomera, Tricondyla, Thopeutica, Cylindera, Heptodonta, Neocollyris, and Prothyma. Endemic species such as Heptodonta lumawigi (Wiesner, 1980), Thopeutica (Thopeutica) anichtchenkoi (Wiesner 2015), Thopeutica (Thopeutica) milanae (Wiesner, 1992), Thopeutica (Thopeutica) rolandmuelleri Cassola, 2000 and Thopeutica petertaylori (Medina, Cabras, Wiesner, 2019) prefers a more intact forests while others such as Cylindera (Ifasina) discreta elaphroides (Dokhtouroff 1882), Calomera mindanaoensis (Cassola, 2000) and Necollyris sp. could tolerate disturbed secondary forest even agricultural lands. New distribution record for Heptodonta lumawigi (Wiesner, 1980) and Thopeutica (Thopeutica) milanae (Wiesner, 1992) for Marilog District were also recorded. Ecological data and conservation status of tiger beetles are also presented. Conservation actions are deemed necessary in the remaining green spaces in Davao City that hosts tiger beetle fauna should also be conducted.

This study aims to see the profit growth in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Branch Medan Kota. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, the data collection technique used is documentation, the data used are financial reports (Activity Reports and Financial Position Reports) for the last 5 (five) years from 2015 to 2019 using the financial ratio analysis method. The financial ratios used are the Liquidity Ratio (Working Capital to Total Asset) and the Activity Ratio (Total Asset Turnover). The results showed that the Liquidity Ratio has a good performance value in profit growth because the amount of current assets is higher than current debt and the value of theratio Working Capital to Total Asset is above industry standards. And the activity ratio has a poor financial performance value in profit growth because theratio Total Asset Turnover during 2015 to 2019 has a value that is below industry standards.

Aim: To investigate and compare the effects of different thicknesses of medium-translucency monolithic zirconia and light curing times on the polymerization of two types of dual-cured resin cement. Methods: A total of 200 cement specimens were prepared from TheraCem and RelyX U200 cement. The specimens were divided into 5 groups: Group I, without interposing zirconia; Group II, 0.50 mm thickness; Group III, 1.00 mm; Group IV, 1.50 mm; and Group V, 2.00 mm thickness. Each group was subdivided into (1) RelyX U200 and (2) TheraCem. Each subgroup was subdivided according to the light-curing time into (a) 20 s and (b) 40 s (n =5). The polymerization was tested using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and a Vickers microhardness tester. The data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA, an independent sample t-test, and Tukey’s test at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The control group had the highest values of DC and VMH, followed by 0.50, 1.00, and 1.50 mm, respectively, while the 2.00 mm group showed the lowest values. The specimens irradiated for 40 s had greater DC and VMH than those irradiated for 20 s. RelyX U200 revealed higher values for both parameters compared to TheraCem cement. Conclusion: The polymerization of selfadhesive cement depends on the thickness of the monolithic zirconia, the light curing time, and the composition of the cement. The cement should be irradiated for a longer period than recommended to overcome the light attenuation of zirconia. TEGDMA-based self-adhesive cement showed a higher DC and VMH than BISGMA-based cement.

This study investigated the fluorescence and biocompatibility of hydrophilic silicon quantum dots (SiQDs) that are doped with scandium (Sc-SiQDs), copper (Cu-SiQDs), and zinc (Zn-SiQDs), indicating their feasibility for the bioimaging of tear film. SiQDs were investigated for fluorescence emission by the in vitro imaging of artificial tears (TheraTears®), using an optical imaging system. A trypan blue exclusion test and MTT assay were used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of SiQDs to cultured human corneal epithelial cells. No difference was observed between the fluorescence emission of Sc-SiQDs and Cu-SiQDs at any concentration. On average, SiQDs showed stable fluorescence, while Sc-SiQDs and Cu-SiQDs showed brighter fluorescence emissions than Zn-SiQDs. Cu-SiQDs and Sc-SiQDs showed a broader safe concentration range than Zn-SiQDs. Cu-SiQDs and Zn-SiQDs tend to aggregate more substantially in TheraTears® than Sc-SiQDs. This study elucidates the feasibility of hydrophilic Sc-SiQDs in studying the tear film’s aqueous layer.

The purpose of this study was to find out how the role of supervision and credit rescue in minimizing the possibility of default on the completion of working capital loans at PT BPR Eka Bumi Artha Metro. The method in this studyis descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used are observation, interview, documentation. Theanalytical tool used is descriptive method. The results of this study indicate that the credit control section hasperformed its role to the maximum extent possible, but the risk of external factors cannot be avoided.Whereas the credit rescue department has carried out its role to the maximum extent possible in returning nonperforming loans by way of negotiating settlement or by selling voluntary collateral assets, thereby reducing therate of increase in NPLs so that credit quality is maintained. This can be seen from the good credit quality in 2013and 2014, namely the NPL is 1% below the maximum limit of 5% in accordance with Bank Indonesia regulations.Furthermore in 2015NPL increased by 5% from the previous year, which is 9% which means that it is above 4%of the maximum credit limit. And in 2016 and 2017 NPL decreased by 1% from the previous year, which is to 8%,which means above 3% the maximum credit limit. The credit supervision and rescue team has sought to reduce therate of increase in NPLs so that credit quality is maintained. This has been provenbecause in 2016 and 2017the quality of NPLs decreased 1% from the previous year which experienced a 5% increase in NPLs.

Background. The increased use of zirconia crowns in adult orthodontic patients warrants the establishment of methods and materials to adhere orthodontic brackets properly to zirconia crowns. However, studies in this regard are scarce, and many materials remain untested. This preliminary study aimed to examine three new adhesives containing zirconia primers for the first time. Methods. Sixty identical monolithic zirconia crowns were fabricated and randomly divided into 4 groups of 15 each (Panavia SA Cement Plus, G-CEM, TheraCem, and Transbond XT Composite (control)). After glaze removal with a diamond bur, a metal orthodontic bracket was attached to the surfaces of the crowns using the respective adhesive. Specimens were incubated at 37°C and then thermocycled for 2000 cycles. Shear bond strengths (SBS) of brackets in different groups were estimated using a universal testing machine. Mean SBS values were compared with the values 6, 8, and 10 (as acceptable SBS values) and 13 MPa (as the maximum SBS tolerable by zirconia) using the one-sample t-test. They were also compared with each other using the one-way ANOVA and Tamhane post hoc test (α = 0.05). Results. The ANOVA indicated a significant overall difference; the Tamhane test showed that the difference between the control group and all test groups was significant ( P < 0.0005); however, the 3 test groups were not significantly different from each other ( P > 0.30). The SBS of the control group was significantly lower than the minimum acceptable SBS (6 MPa, P < 0.0005). The mean SBS of the TheraCem was not significantly different from 10 MPa ( P = 0.902), while the mean SBS values of Panavia SA Cement Plus and G-CEM were significantly greater than 10 MPa ( P < 0.05). None of the three zirconia adhesives had mean SBS values higher than 13 MPa. Conclusion. All novel zirconia adhesives (Panavia SA Cement Plus, G-CEM, and TheraCem) generated SBS values adequate to attach metal orthodontic brackets to zirconia prostheses (at or greater than 10 MPa) without damaging the zirconia during bracket removal (not above 13 MPa).

Independent variables used is the ratio of return on assets, current ratio and growth as a proxy for financial performance, and the dependent variable used is sukuk rating. The analytical method used in this study is Multinomial Logistic Regression.The results of this study showed that simultaneous financial performance significantly affect the rating sukuk, and individually there are two models produced.In the first model, the ROA and CR have positive influenceon the idA rating compared to the idAAA rating. In the second model, the ROA and CR also have positive influence on the idAA rating compared to the idAAA rating.

The knowledge about tiger beetle fauna of the Northern Mindanao region (Philippines) is summarized based on literature data and new records. Thirty species classified in ten genera (Tricondyla, Neocollyris, Protocollyris, Therates, Prothyma, Heptodonta, Thopeutica, Lophyra, Calomera, and Cylindera) were documented from the area (56% of tiger beetle fauna of Mindanao and 21% of Philippine species). Twelve species were noted from Northern Mindanao region for the first time, including five taxa, Neocollyris speciosa, Calomera angulata, Cylindera minuta, Lophyra striolata tenuiscripta, and Thopeutica virginea, not recorded from Mindanao before. Distribution maps for all recorded species and the first photographs of habitats for some species in Mindanao and/or in the Philippines are provided. Eight species (27% of recorded fauna) were noted from riverine habitats while 18 tiger beetles (60%) were typical forest taxa; in the case of four species, their habitats in Northern Mindanao region are not known.

This paper investigates the formation of Calcium Silicate Hydrate (C-S-H) as a product ofpozzolanic reactions in a cement paste with cement partially replaced with crushed recycled glass at therate of 10% and 20%. Three different particle sizes for crushed glass used in this study were in therange of 150-75μm, 75-38μm and lower than 38μm; and a water to cement ratio of 0.45 was used for allspecimens. This study showed that the formation of Calcium Hydroxide Ca(OH)2 is decreased while theformation of C-S-H is increased simultaneously at 90 days for 75-38μm and <38μm glass powder. Theuse of waste glass as a partial cement replacement improves the cement strength through the formationof C-S-H due to the pozzolanic reaction with Ca(OH)2 improving the strength of the mortar.

Thus, this research aims to analyze whether the simplified method shown in the standard matches the resistance values of 72Brazilian species, separated from class C20 to C60. In the end, it was possible to conclude that the value displayed by the standard between theratio of shear and compressionin thedirection parallel to the fibers is half of what actually happens in Brazilian species, showing anurgent review in the standard premises.

ABSTRACT We identified the Schizosaccharomyces pombe mex67 gene (spmex67) as a multicopy suppressor of rae1-167 nup184-1 synthetic lethality and the rae1-167 tsmutation. spMex67p, a 596-amino-acid-long protein, has considerable sequence similarity to the Saccharomyces cerevisiae Mex67p (scMex67p) and human Tap. In contrast toscMEX67, spmex67 is essential for neither growth nor nuclear export of mRNA. However, an spmex67 null mutation (Δmex67) is synthetically lethal with therae1-167 mutation and accumulates poly(A)+ RNA in the nucleus. We identified a central region (149 to 505 amino acids) within spMex67p that associates with a complex containing Rae1p that complements growth and mRNA export defects of therae1-167 Δmex67 synthetic lethality. This region is devoid of RNA-binding, N-terminal nuclear localization, and the C-terminal nuclear pore complex-targeting regions. The (149–505)-green fluorescent protein (GFP) fusion is found diffused throughout the cell. Overexpression of spMex67p inhibits growth and mRNA export and results in the redistribution of the diffused localization of the (149–505)-GFP fusion to the nucleus and the nuclear periphery. These results suggest that spMex67p competes for essential mRNA export factor(s). Finally, we propose that the 149–505 region of spMex67p could act as an accessory factor in Rae1p-dependent transport and that spMex67p participates at various common steps with Rae1p export complexes in promoting the export of mRNA.

Enantioselective production of (S)-2-phenyl-1-propanol is important as in order to be applied in industry, a high degree of optical purity is required. Besides organocatalysts and metal complexes, biocatalysts can be used for its synthesis in their isolated form or as whole-cell biocatalysts, both of which have various advantages and disadvantages. In this research, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as a whole-cell biocatalyst, and recombinant horse-liver alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), as an isolated enzyme, were investigated in terms of their activity, kinetics and enantioselectivity. In the case of yeast, therate of cofactor regeneration was twice that of substrate conversion, moreover, the biocatalyst Saccharomyces cerevisiae can be characterised by substrate-limited kinetics and low nantioselectivity. In contrast, the isolated enzyme recombinant horse-liver ADH exhibited biphasic kinetics and cofactor regeneration was the rate-limiting step. The outstanding enantioselectivity of recombinant horse-liver ADH renders it a promising catalyst for the purpose of this synthesis.

Methane gas, the third widely-used source of energy, has been identified as a potential alternative to climate-change causing fuels. Due to increased climate change awareness, recent trends in researches have shifted their focus on optimizing production rates of methane gas. This study contributes to research by investigating the degree of conversion of rice hulls into methane using rumen fluid. We first identify the kinetic parameters defining therate of hydrolyzing rice hulls into glucose by implementing a semi-factorial experimental design. We then simulated methane production in four different reactor configurations. Historical data were extracted from different literatures and these were subsequently used in the simulation study. Simulation results showed that the continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) gave the shortest reaction time and highest methane yield which ranged from 7.1 9.5 mol/L and 3 4 days, respectively. In conclusion, this study provides an alternative approach to the conduct of understanding the optimal conditions necessary to achieve maximal methane gas production.

Buds from 12-year-old `Bing' sweet cherry trees were collected biweekly from May 25, 1989 to August 31, 1989 and periodically therafter until the spring of 1990. Buds were partially dissected by removing outer bud scales, then fixed in a solution of 3% glutaraldehyde and 2% formaldehyde for 24 hrs. The buds were then stored in phosphate buffer solution at 6.8 pH at 4C for a maximum of 6 months. Buds examined with the SEM were critical point dried, mounted and coated with gold. Anthesis occurred April 28 and fruit were harvested July 6. Rapid changes in the development of the buds occurred during the period between July 7 and July 20. Flower primordia were just barely visible on July 7 in the most advanced buds but by July 20 multiple flowers were visible with sepal primordia apparent. By Aug 3 petals were clearly defined and stamen primordia evident. By August 17 anthers were clearly visible and pistil primordia were evident. Most buds produced 2 flowers with some producing a third. The third flower trailed the other two buds in development.

In recent years, several studies have demonstrated the involvement of the intestinal microbiota in immune-mediated diseases such as diabetes, ulcerative colitis, and multiple sclerosis. There are few data on the follicular microbiome and its role in the pathogenesis of scalp diseases. Some studies show influence of dysbiosis on these diseases, and manipulation of the microbiome may represent a possible therapeu- tic option. This article reviews current knowledge regarding the impact of dysbiosis on dermatological diseases of the scalp, such as seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia, lichen planus pilaris, frontal fibrosing alopecia and decalvant folliculitis. A broader understanding of this may suggest additional treatments beyond conventional therapies.
