The article reveals the possibilities of using multimedia educational presentations as a means of methodological support of the distance educational process in primary school. It is emphasized that multimedia educational presentations are considered by the authors only as an emergency alternative to traditional education, in conditions when there is a need for a general temporary transition to its distance form. The problems of organizing distance learning, which are especially relevant for primary school, and the ways of their solution with the help of multimedia educational presentations, which are able to stimulate independent (autonomous) work of primary schoolchildren with minimal involvement of adult family members, are identified. The requirements for a multimedia educational presentation are given, which correspond to the recommendations of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation for mastering the Basic educational program of an elementary school, as well as its characteristics and an algorithm for creating. The description of the multimedia educational presentation on the subject “Literary reading” for the lesson in the distance mode is given.

Purpose: We describe factors influencing the career choices of students enrolled in Canadian dietetics programs. Methods: A survey was administered, in class or online, to core first- and fourth-year classes in seven dietetics programs in various provinces (n=397). Data were analyzed with the use of descriptive statistics. Chi-square testing for independence established significant relationships. Results: Students ranked personal satisfaction, job security, and a professional career as important general career outcomes. These factors were also perceived to be attainable through a dietetics career. The majority of students chose dietetics while they were enrolled in a post-secondary degree program (44%), were primarily influenced by family members (54%), and based their choice on information acquired through the media (50%). Motivations for choosing dietetics included an interest in nutrition (91%) and health (90%), and a desire to help others (82%). Younger students placed more importance on economic rewards and having a position of authority than did older students. Older students identified personal satisfaction as more important in career selection than did younger students. Female respondents placed higher value on job flexibility than did their male counterparts. Conclusions: Career choice is based on a variety of internal and external factors. Opportunities exist for strategic recruitment efforts by educators and the profession.

Introduction: the need to study the current state of relations of educational cooperation of younger students is determined by the increasing role of communicative universal educational activities in the development of modern society. However, a number of studies it prove that often the life of a modern school does not provide any opportunities to use the potential resources of such an important component of the development of the student, as educational cooperation. Traditional school due to many restrictions does not always provide the possibility to build a student-centered relationship of educational cooperation in combination with a differentiated approach to younger students. Numerous studies often describe the interaction of students with adults and peers separately, that prevents making unified approaches to the child's socialization. The initial step towards solving this problem should be the complex study of the areas of interaction and diverse study of the formation of relations of educational cooperation of younger schoolchildrenMaterials and Methods: in article the diagnostic program-the complex made of the techniques giving the chance to get the idea of a modern state of development of the relations of educational cooperation in elementary school is declared. They were: a technique with the working title “ the Carpet”, allowing to establish levels of development of skills of group interaction of younger schoolchildren in the lessons; “Sociometric research”, intended for identification of the social status of the child in children's group; “Self-esteem ladder”, designed to determine the adequacy of children's self-esteem in the sphere of business contacts of the child with classmates. Results: the results of the study of the formation of relations of educational cooperation among younger schoolchildren with peers in a specially created innovative conditions in the context of a given procedure of learning and initiated by the child communication. The idea of teachers about the most important for younger schoolchildren’s psychological conditions of development of relations of educational cooperation is revealed.Discussion and Conclusions: the study suggests that for the effective development of relations of educational cooperation with children it is necessary to create a special innovative learning environment, which provides a high motivational basis for younger students to achieve their goals, initiatives, independence, strengthen their social status in the group of peers, increase self-esteem.

Abstract Nontraditional student is understood as one of the older students enrolled in formal or informal studies. In the literature, there is no detailed generalisation of nontraditional student. This article aims to reveal the concept of this particular group of students. Analysing the definition of nontraditional students, researchers identify the main criteria that allow to provide a more comprehensive concept of the nontraditional student. The main one is the age of these atypical students coming to study at the university, their selected form of studies, adult social roles status characteristics, such as family, parenting and financial independence as well as the nature of work. The described features of the nontraditional student demonstrate how the unconventional nontraditional student is different from the traditional one, which features are characteristic for them and how they reflect the nontraditional student’s maturity and experience in comparison with younger, traditional students. Key features - independence, internal motivation, experience, responsibility, determination. They allow nontraditional students to pursue their life goals, learn and move towards their set goals. University student identity is determined on the basis of the three positions: on the age suitability by social norms, the learning outcomes incorporated with age, on the creation of student’s ideal image. There are four students’ biographical profiles distinguished: wandering type, seeking a degree, intergrative and emancipatory type. They allow to see the biographical origin of nontraditional students, their social status as well as educational features. Biographical profiles presented allow to comprise the nontraditional student’s portrait of different countries. Traditional and nontraditional students’ learning differences are revealed by analysing their need for knowledge, independence, experience, skill to learn, orientation and motivation aspects. To sum up, the analysis of the scientific literature can formulate the concept of the nontraditional student. Nontraditional student refers to the category of 20-65 years of age who enrolls into higher education studies in a nontraditional way, is financially independent, with several social roles of life, studying full-time or part-time, and working full-time or part-time, or not working at all.

The political fight of the younger generation in Malaysia has evolved since the country achieved independence on 31st August 1957. For the past 10 years, legal literacy and students’ participation in the campus of the political landscape has given birth to an enthusiastic young generation with high leadership charisma, especially in developing countries such as Malaysia. The two main objectives of this study are, namely (i) to unravel the interpretation of positive values, spirit, and identity, when students are exposed to the ability to increase independence in the context of campus political participation, and (ii) examines the continued success contribution of big-hearted and high-charismatic students of leadership in the political development aspects of the country at the present time. The research modus operandi was implemented by utilising qualitative methods of in-depth interviews with 24 students from legal studies programs from four Malaysian Public Universities. The results of the study were through a selection of interviews of respondents which found that the pattern of students’ participation in the campus political landscape, if outlined with certain objectives, successfully serves as a medium to voice wishes and concerns on issues related to the community in higher institutions. However, the involvement in the political arena by students is subjected to the bill which has been enshrined in the Universities and University Colleges Acts 1971 (AUKU 1971), the Private Higher Education Institutions Act 1996, and the Educational Institutions (Discipline) Acts 1976. Two new findings were presented, namely (i) the political freedom given to students in this country should be utilised well, especially in producing enthusiastic young people, and (ii) political freedom is seen to be able to help shape aspects of leadership, especially at the university level and those who are charismatic and credible can drive the formation of the country in a better direction regardless of political, economic and social.

The goal of this study is to analyze the ideological positions of Hispanic college students in the U.S. Rio Grande Valley (RGV). Building on Feldman and Johnston’s work, where they argue that a unidimensional model of political ideology provides an incomplete basis for study, we employ two dimensions to account for domestic policy preference. The core of the study is a taxonomic analysis of a survey of RGV college students taking government courses, where we find that the political beliefs of Hispanic millennials trend significantly more conservative and, especially, libertarian than expected. Possible implications for the future include a realignment of Hispanics with the Republican Party, a shift in a more libertarian direction within the Democratic Party itself, or an increase in younger Hispanics’ proclivity for independence from the two major parties. Our findings conform to Feldman and Johnston’s argument that the economic and social dimensions of political ideology are separate and distinct, making it essential that researchers analyze both dimensions in order to have an accurate and comprehensive understanding of individuals’ political ideology. In addition, using recent American National Election Studies (ANES) data sets, we compare how our samples are different from the general U.S. population, employing a principal component analysis (PCA).

The study examined how college students perceive older versus younger women based on their tattoo status (i.e., no tattoo, feminine tattoo, or masculine tattoo). A randomly assigned sample of 376 responded to a survey involving a 2 X 3 experiment designed to assess the impact of age (older versus younger) and tattoo status on four dependent measures: credibility, promiscuity, and attractiveness. Results indicate that older and younger women are perceived differently depending on their tattoo status. Not wearing a tattoo may lead to a more favorable perception of older women than wearing one, but wearing a feminine tattoo may engender a more favorable impression of older women than having a masculine tattoo. In contrast, avoiding to wear a tattoo may not be as helpful for the perception of younger women as it is for older women. Also, while younger women may be rewarded for gender role transgression with respect to tattoo status this is not so for older women.

Shepherd, Jean Mary. „Messy boundaries : the lived experience when younger children's nursing students are required to care for young people“. Thesis, University of Greenwich, 2012. http://gala.gre.ac.uk/8790/.

Annotation:
It is acknowledged that caring interactions between younger, adolescent student nurses and young adolescent patients could precipitate particular difficulties and concerns for both parties during their journeys toward successful self-identity. The research undertaken identified two key dimensions: that of professional identity of the student nurses and that of illness identity for the young patients. These issues have been critically analysed using the theoretical underpinning of the seminal identity development theorists. In order to understand the true meaning behind the lived experience of both groups of participants during these caring interactions, a hermeneutic, Heideggerian, phenomenological study was undertaken. In line with this methodology individual, unstructured interviews were undertaken with 11 student nurses (aged between seventeen years five months to eighteen years eleven months) and nine young patients (aged between thirteen years and seven months and eighteen years and one month). Three main themes emerged from the data: (1) Messy boundaries; (2) Emotional security; (3) Being Younger making a difference. The findings highlight both concerns and benefits brought about by these caring situations. Concerns raised by the students relate to emotional distress, perceived lack of knowledge, confidence and professional identity. Also of concern is dealing with sensitive information disclosed by the young patients. Benefits identified by the students relate to being able to spend quality time with the young patients, being on the same level as them in informal ‘normative’ relationships, relieving their boredom and helping to momentarily distract them from their illness. Concerns highlighted by the young patients centre around issues of trust and confidence in the students’ professional abilities, the perceived lack of knowledge of the students in relation to their illness, and the students’ lack of understanding of their feelings. In common with the students, the young patients felt that the opportunities afforded them to ‘chill out’, be normal young people, and to be able to forget about the business of getting better, were invaluable. The friendships formed represent crucial therapeutic relationships which were not explicitly recognised by either party. The research has led to recommendations for improving student nurse education relating to young people/adolescents which it is anticipated will more appropriately meet the needs of the students and the patients. It has also enabled the creation of two models to support the unique engagement of the nurse-patient interaction, particularly in relation to the care of young people with a chronic illness: i) A Model for Processing Sensitive Information Revealed by Young Patients who may have a Chronic Illness ii) A Model of Adolescent Care Which Promotes Normalcy

Annotation:
Project Independence (PI) is a community college immersion program dedicated to assisting women returning to college. The focus of this study and associated summative evaluation was to understand how the PI program addresses anxiety and other learning deficiencies associated with math. Knowle's andragogical models portray adults as motivated and self-directed, and the American college campus fosters a culture of independence. This culture is foreign to many minority, first-generation, and working class adults who learn through interdependence. This qualitative instrumental case study and evaluation is the first to examine the efficacy of PI. The guiding questions of this study concern early math learning experiences, PI interventions on study, coping and math-learning skills, and how participants utilize these skills in subsequent math classes. Three faculty members and 8 graduates of the program who had completed at least 2 math classes participated in individual interviews. Inductive analysis of these interviews showed the cohort and long term counseling as pivotal to developing a sense of belonging, self-esteem, and an attitude of self-worth. With cohort support, students learn to find campus resources, explore career options, and overcome personal obstacles to their education. Improved math learning for adult minority and first generation students has diverse implications for social change. Math education is requisite for many technical degrees and certificates. Enabling math learning expands options that transcend gender, cultural, and socioeconomic barriers. The cohort experience and culture of interdependence should be expanded to college preparation programs for men, as well as mainstream community college math preparation interventions.

This research investigates relationships between undergraduate studentsâ understanding of proof and how this understanding relates to their conceptions of mathematical definitions. Three students in an introductory proofs course were each interviewed three times in order to assess their proof schemes, understand how they think of specific mathematical concepts, and investigate how the students prove relationships between these concepts. This research used theoretical frameworks from both proof and definition literature. Findings show that studentsâ ability or inability to adapt their concept images of the mathematical concepts enhanced and impeded their proof schemes, respectively.

Little is known about post-secondary band students' growth in musical independence, nor have the relationships between ensemble placement, year in school, gender, and instrument family been documented. Little research is available regarding the effects of instrument family (on which the student performs) or gender on the development of musical independence among music majors. Additionally, previous studies have identified a drop in music achievement test scores for college music majors as they progress from their freshman to sophomore or sophomore to junior years. This study attempts to address and evaluate these issues. The introduction presents a brief overview of the purpose and importance of the study. The review of related literature explores musical independence and the assessment of musical independence, as well as relationships between musical independence, ensemble placement, related listening skills, gender, and instrument family.Richard Colwell's Music Achievement Test 3 and Music Achievement Test 4 were administered to 354 band students at Ball State University, Florida State University, and Wichita State University. Test scores and demographic data including school, student identification number (usually a social security number), top ensemble in which the student participated (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), college major (music major or non-music major), year in school (freshman through graduate student), gender (male or female), and instrument family (woodwind, brass, or percussion) were collected. Data was entered into Statview II, a statistical analysis program for the Macintosh computer. Data was analyzed using ANOVA, Scheffe, and permutation analysis. Conclusions were drawn and recommendations for additional research were made.

College represents an opportunity to move toward independence while also participating in a supportive learning environment. Young adults with ASD are attending college in increasing numbers, but the research concerning their experiences is mixed. Most individuals report academic success, which may be reflective of a sampling bias. However, many of these individuals still report difficulties with the social aspects of academics (i.e. group work). They also report difficulties following lectures, managing their time, and participating in the social aspects of college. Choosing a college is particularly important for this group, as colleges vary in the types of support offered to students with ASD.

The article is devoted to the actual problem of teaching speech etiquette to primary schoolchildren. A group project is presented, aimed at generalizing information about speech etiquette among fourth-graders. An obligatory component of the project is the independent search activity of younger students. This project was preceded by the study of the rules of speech etiquette in special classes "Kind Word" in the third grade.

Kwan, Yee Wan. „EXPLORING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CONSTRUCTIVIST LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS“. In International Conference on Education and New Developments. inScience Press, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.36315/2021end097.

Annotation:
Constructivist learning environments are a core instructional factor affecting students’ critical thinking (Mathews & Lowe, 2011). However, few classroom environment research have specifically investigated relationships between students’ perceptions of their learning environment and their critical thinking ability (e.g., Fraser, 2012), especially in the context of Chinese learners. Therefore this study would fill this research gap by investigating the relationships between constructivist learning environments and critical thinking ability among Hong Kong secondary school students. The study used a cross-sectional survey design to collect data from a convenience sample of 967 students studying Liberal Studies or Integrated Humanities in Secondary Three (Grade 9) in Hong Kong. The respondents completed a self-administered questionnaire which included the Constructivist Learning Environment Survey (CLES), Cornell Critical Thinking Test Level X, and demographic information on age and gender. The findings showed that students perceived their learning environment to be moderately constructivist in nature, and scored a moderate level of critical thinking ability. Both age and school banding differences were identified in which younger and students in schools with higher banding tended to perceive a higher degree of constructivist characteristics in their learning environment and they obtained higher critical thinking ability scores. Multiple regression analyses indicated that five of the seven independent variables were predictors of critical thinking ability. Shared Control was the strongest predictor and negatively associated with critical thinking ability. Personal Relevance, Critical Voice, and Uncertainty were positively while age was negatively related to critical thinking ability. The hypothesized model of seven demographic and CLES variables accounted for 10% of variance of critical thinking ability, suggesting a medium effect size. Findings of the study are discussed with reference to developing students’ critical thinking ability in classrooms.

The troops of the national guard of the Russian Federation are equipped with modern models of weapons, special equipment, Informatization tools, engineering weapons that have artificial intelligence in their composition are being developed, " etc., which causes an increase in the requirements for the quality of professional training of future officers. The increasing complexity of military professional activities, the avalanche-like increase in information, the need to develop the ability to quickly and accurately make and implement well-known and own engineering solutions in an unpredictable military environment demonstrates that the most important tasks of modern higher education are not only providing graduates with a system of fundamental and special knowledge and skills, but also developing their professional independence, and this led to the concept of engineering and creative potential in the list of professionally important qualities of an officer. To expedite a special mechanism system compact intense clarity through cognitive visualization of the educational material, thickening of educational knowledge through encoding, consolidation and structuring Principle of cognitive visualization stems from the psychological laws in accordance with which the efficiency of absorption is increased if visibility in training does not only illustrative, but also cognitive function, which leads to active inclusion, along with the left and right hemispheres of the student in the process of assimilation of information, based on the use of logical and semantic modeling, which contributes to the development of engineering and creative potential.

Annotation:
In the practice of a teacher-psychologist at the School of Distance Education, the game “Sign me up as an astronaut”, developed by the author, was tested, aimed at developing the skills of social and psychological interaction in younger adolescents with disabilities through the awareness and strengthening of personal resources by means of game psychocorrection. The specifics of the work of a psychologist at the School of Distance Education are determined by the following circumstances: - students have a severe disability and the corresponding psychophysical characteristics: instability of the emotional-volitional sphere, lack of motivation, severe physical and mental fatigue, low level of social skills, etc. - the use of distance educational technologies in psychocorrectional work; - lack of methodological recommendations for psychocorrectional work in conditions of distance technologies with school-age children. Such recommendations are available mainly for adults, they relate to the educational process, but they do not cover the correctional process. There is enough scientific and methodological literature on psychological and pedagogical correction, which is the basis for ensuring the work of a practicing psychologist, but there are difficulties in transferring these techniques, games, etc. - to the remote mode of correctional and developmental work, especially in the form of group work. During the game, various social and psychological situations are solved, which are selected strictly according to the characteristics of the social experience of the participants.
