We raise the problem of generating a differential approach to the construction of psychological programs facilitating students depending on the direction of their training. We reveal that a significant criterion for professional competence of the future professional is his psychological well-being, which structure allows to estimate the potential psychological and pedagogical assistance. The results of empirical studies of the structure of psychological well-being (with the use of C.D. Ryff Scales of Psychological Well-Being) based on the diagnostic sample of 300 people: students of universities and colleges, students enrolled in the areas of training “State and municipal management” and “Psychology”. The results reveal the structural features of the psychological well-being as subjective integral index in each group of students and allow them to be regarded as a differential criterion of optimization of educational resources.

The article presents the results of the first time study of the features of social and psychological attitudes of students enrolled in technical higher educational institution in various training programs using the O.F. Potyomkina method of diagnostics of social and psychological attitudes of the personality in motivational-requirement sphere. By means of correlation analysis the interrelations have been established between social and psychological attitudes within the every training program. It has been found, that for the students of "Maintenance and repair" training program the structure of social attitudes has a holistic character, whereby redistributes the energy of the most pronounced areas in frustrated sphere, suggesting a more harmonious process of personal development of future specialists. It has been found that for the students of training programs "Organization and safety" and "Ground transportation" the structure of attitudes has either hard closed areas or isolated ones, which makes the energy exchange be implemented in the framework of the motivational sphere and indicates the disharmonious process of personal development of future specialists. It has been found that surveyed students of all training programs do not have a confrontation between "altruism" and "egoism", which indicates a certain personal immaturity of the respondents. Recommendations are formulated for curators of student groups and teachers working with students in these training programs. Our proposed research algorithm can be recommended for implementation in a higher educational institution of any training program as a motivational monitoring.

The problem of psychological and pedagogical support for future trainers can be solved in classes on "Pedagogical Skill", where students develop the pedagogical skills that are needed during the work of the trainer. One of the most important skills of the trainer is organizational, which contributes to the development of the ability to organize training and education in trainings and competitions, to develop group interaction. These skills and abilities are also relevant in other areas of social practice of the individual, harmonize life, adjust the balance of spiritual forces, introduce guidelines in the views on the surrounding world, save from the limited consciousness and stereotypes of thinking. Successful learning and psychological development of the individual are the basis of interaction in the education and training of students in solving problems associated with psychological and pedagogical support.

The readiness of the teaching staff of higher educational institutions for teaching and psychological and pedagogical support of students with disabilities is being considered. We emphasize that the personnel of the educational organization need special competence to work with persons with disabilities of various nosological groups. The issues of creating an accessible environment in the university were studied, the readiness of teachers to apply special educational technologies in the training of students with disabilities, to develop teaching and methodological materials; the ability to establish pedagogically appropriate relationships with students, and provide psychological and pedagogical support in matters of personal and professional self-determination. The results show a high degree of importance of special professional competencies for inclusive education. But, at the same time, teachers assess their own level of preparedness with students with disabilities as insufficient, which allowed to determine the main areas of work.

The article deals with the psychological and pedagogical problems of training situational centers (TSC) as a learning environment for group decision-making. TSC have a significant role to play in the process of formation of a new type of managerial personnel, managers for the "digital economy" and "digital state. Emphasizes the importance of workplaces as a Central element for the functioning of TSCs; in this case, the workplace is treated as an element of the educational environment in relation to two related subject areas – social management and education. The script approach at the organization of educational activity in TSC is described; the script of an educational task contains, in particular, characteristics and the description of the principles of work of the corresponding workplaces, and also methods of work of participants of studies (students, teachers, experts, game technicians, producers). The importance of forming a visual information image of the management situation for the collective work of students is emphasized. We consider the models of classes in the TSC (lecture-discussion, case-study, role play), as well as psychological, didactic, technological and organizational factors taken into account in these models. The problem of "Brainstorming" is considered as an example of communicative decision-making technology in the TSC.

The article deals with the problem of subjective well-being as an important component of the psychological well-being of an individual. The degree of satisfaction with life among university students enrolled in different areas of training is analysed; the specificity of subjective perception by first-year students of their own success in various spheres of life is revealed. The study involved 230 first-year students of Kostroma State University, enrolled in four different areas of study. The results of the study showed that students at the beginning of their professional path, regardless of the direction of training in which they study, rather highly assess the degree of their success in life; are self-confident, plan their lives and set goals for the future. At the same time, the degree of subjective well-being of students is low; students are not completely satisfied with their life and their place in it; they are instead focused mainly on the emotional richness of their own life. The leading motives of students are professional motives that affect the effectiveness of educational activities and are associated with assessing their own success in life. It was found that ideation innovativeness is insufficiently developed among freshmen; they prefer to work within established rules, are more focused on solving a problem than on finding it, and have difficulty applying and analysing new ideas. Revealing the specifics of the subjective well-being of freshmen who entered the university in different areas of training allows outlining the prospects for psychological and pedagogic support of students at all stages of training in the framework of increasing the level of their psychological well-being in the educational environment of the university.

Burnout in healthcare professionals (HCPs) can negatively affect HCPs’ health and the overall functioning of the healthcare system. Of great concern is the negative effect of HCP burnout on psychological, cognitive, and work-relevant functioning. Mindfulness-based interventions have been shown to decrease burnout in HCPs and preliminary evidence suggests they may improve work-relevant outcomes. However, the literature is limited by methodological issues and generalizability concerns. The current pragmatic trial investigated feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of Mindfulness for Interdisciplinary Healthcare Professionals (MIHP) using a partially randomized, waitlist-controlled, crossover design [intention-to-treat sample: 22 in the mindfulness group (MG), 26 in the control group (CG)] on psychological, cognitive, and interprofessional measures. The present study also included an explanatory aim evaluating mindfulness practice time and practice quality as mediators of change. Within-group changes were assessed with the combined crossover data for mediation and three-month follow-up analyses. Finally, the present study explored the perceived effects of MIHP and how MIHP had its effects using a grounded theory approach. Results found mixed evidence for feasibility and acceptability. Small to large effects were found for the MG on outcomes of burnout, perceived stress, and mindfulness. These effects were present with groups combined and remained at the follow-up. No effect of MIHP was found on cognitive or interprofessional outcomes. Practice time and quality were not significant mediators of main effects. A grounded theory model is proposed for how MIHP may exert its positive effects within the context of healthcare.

Student musicians were recruited to participate in an experimental repeated measures research design study to identify effects of heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback training and emotional self-regulation techniques, as recommended by HeartMath® Institute, on music performance anxiety (MPA) and music performance. Fourteen students were randomly assigned to a treatment or control group following a 5 minute unaccompanied baseline performance. Treatment group participants received 4-5 HRV training sessions of 30-50 minutes each. Training included bibliotherapy, using the computerized Freeze-Framer® 2.0 interactive training software, instruction in the Freeze-Frame® and Quick Coherence® techniques of emotional regulation, and also use of an emWave® portable heart rate variability training device for home training. Measures included the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Performance Anxiety Inventory (PAI), Flow State Scale (FSS), average heart rate (HR), and heart rate variability (HRV). Quade's rank transformed ANCOVA was used to evaluate treatment and no-treatment group comparisons. Combined MPA scores showed statistical significance at p=.05 level with large effect size of eta2=.320. Individual measurements of trait anxiety showed a small effect size of eta2=.001. State anxiety measurement showed statistical significance at the p=.10 level with a large effect size eta2=.291. FSS showed no statistical or effect size difference. PAI showed no statistical significance and a large effect size eta2=.149. HR showed no statistical significance and a large effect size eta2=.143. HRV showed statistical significance at p=.000 level and a large effect size eta2=.698. This study demonstrated practical/clinical significance of a relatively quick and inexpensive biofeedback training that had large effect at decreasing mental, emotional, and physiological symptoms of MPA for university students.

AbstractThe fields of Big Data, Data Analytics and Data Science, which are key areas of current and future industrial demand, are quickly growing and evolving. Within Europe, there is a significant skills gap which needs to be addressed. A key activity is to ensure we meet future needs for skills and align the supply of educational offerings with the demands from industry and society. In this chapter, we detail one step in this direction, a programme to recognise Data Science skills. The chapter introduces the data skills challenge and the importance of formal and non-formal education. It positions data skills within a framework for skills and education, and it reviews key projects which have advanced the data skills agenda. It then introduces recognition frameworks for formal and non-formal Data Science training, and it details a methodology to achieve consensus between interested stakeholders in both academia and industry, and the platforms needed to be deployed for the proposal. Finally, we present a case study of the application of recognition frameworks within an online educational portal for students.

The purpose of the paper is to summarize and present teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language in higher educational institutions of Ukraine. The main focus lies in the most modern methods of teaching Ukrainian for foreign students of different nationalities who attain higher education in Ukraine. The author reviewed the development of the concepts of emotional intelligence and modern approaches to the determination of the nature and forms of manifestation of empathy in individuals. Empathy is a principal social emotion; in its most general form it is defined as the individual's ability to react emotionally and to respond to other people's experiences. The author emphasizes the feasibility of accounting empathy as part of emotional intelligence, which is key to successful study of the Ukrainian language for foreigners. The value of socio-psychological training as a means to enhance students’ empathy is proven. Emotional intelligence techniques for the formation and development of empathy culture are presented. The formation of students’ emphatically culture promotes social and psychological training, thus enhancing competence in the field of communication and interpersonal skills to acquire. Socio-psychological training covers various methods, such as business and role-playing, discussions and more. It involves the acquisition of psychological and pedagogical knowledge in communication, effective communication skills, for example, to get in touch, listen, persuade others and to form attitudes necessary for successful communication, such as readiness to consider the problem from another point of view; development of abilities of self-examination, to understand other students, and correction system of relations with the outside world. Other techniques appropriate to apply during the stimulation of student culture are widely known such as self-disclosure, emotional response, personal contact (physical, visual, verbal, plastic, object-efficient) jokes, humor and others. The latter are very effective in removing emotional stress, eliminating aggressive or sad states of stress in relationships, and help enhance mental activity. Jokes activate distraction and relax empathy. The development of emotional intelligence in the student regulates that individual’s abilities and traits that are responsible whether the impact of emotional phenomena will be constructive or destructive behavior for the student. Developing emotional intelligence is inextricably linked to the communicative approach to language learning. The teacher should provide comfortable and effective communication between students in class, using the methods above, techniques and creating a positive atmosphere that promotes cooperation and helps develop confidence in students. Holistic education must involve the unity of intellectual and emotional areas. Also, this work is devoted to the analysis of existing classifications of dialogues, consideration of advantages and disadvantages of some of their types, to the coverage of methods of extracurricular work with students, their detailed analysis, and identification of their pluses and minuses. The model of the use of more appropriate combinations of types of dialogues is presented in order to achieve the most productive result in language learning. A model of formation of foreign communicative competence is offered. The practice of the proposed methods should allow students to unleash their potential, break language barriers, expand vocabulary, improve pronunciation, and most importantly – increase self-confidence.

This chapter demonstrates a model for technology integration in learner-centered classrooms for educators, administrators, and policy makers. In this model, students are trained on how to use a technological tool but then given freedom to choose how much and in what specific content area they use the tool. Three key aspects of learner-centered curriculum design are supported by this model: 1) delivering scaffolding strategies to help students become active and autonomous learners; 2) giving learners a role in shaping the curriculum, and 3) recognizing each learner's diverse, unique background and learning style (American Psychological Association, 1997). The application of the model described here is rather narrow--training English as a Second Language (ESL) students to use online geographical tools (e.g., Google Earth) – but it can be adapted to suit a wide range of technological tools, subjects, and contexts.

Statistics about achievement gaps and college non-completion have been published in journals geared to inform administrators of higher education, such as the Chronicles of Higher Education and publications by the Community College Research Center (see, for example: Bailey, Jeong & Cho (2008). While the focus is usually on cognitive or systemic remedies, many educators and administrators fail to see the connection between psychological development during childhood and college non-completion as one of the possible problems. Chronic exposure to stress hormones, whether it occurs during the prenatal period, infancy, or childhood has long term effects in adulthood learning. While many educators in higher education have spent hours on professional development processes, many shy away from transformational teaching/learning because a certain amount of vulnerability or unfamiliar paradigms are involved. Concurrently, many administrators fail to see the need to inform their faculty about new teaching modalities, such as transformational teaching, and also fail to allocate funding for professional development in this area, whether in the form of in-service learning opportunities or external conference attendance. The authors suggest that both teachers and educational managers at both the college and state levels, particularly at the level of adult education, need to understand the ramifications of Maslow's Hierarchy of Human Needs on students' ability to learn and adopt an approach to transformational teaching/learning whereby they can help to offset the gloomy statistics in achievement gaps. In transformational learning the educator becomes a facilitator that enables students to learn through activities that are shared by educators and students. This platform has the potential to empower students and educators to re-examine their roles, beliefs, and assumptions, and ultimately helps to reform teaching practice in teaching environments to the benefit of both educators and their learners. Training of educators to adopt a transformational teaching approach can come at the level of each college, but can also come through statewide trainings conducted by educational managers within each State's Department of Education or Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development. Thus, the authors seek to encourage educators as well as educational managers to re-consider their philosophy of teaching from the perspective of transformational theory.

Introduction. The article deals with the problem of students’ academic professional literacy development by means of a foreign language based on the implementation of the SIOP Model. The foundations of the question have been borrowed from the SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) Model that focuses on helping English Language Learners (ELLs) with academics in a mainstream classroom. The SIOP Model provides a practical and flexible tool for educators to use in planning, implementing and observing Sheltered Instruction. The SIOP Model is one of the two major areas, the other being General English, which is established in the English-speaking world. The professionally oriented English course is developed for students from different non-linguistic specialties. The goals, objectives, content of the course are compiled according the students’ requirements of real target foreign language communication situations. The principles and approaches that underlie occupational mobility are outlined. It is revealed that occupational mobility serves as a criterion for evaluating the effectiveness of professional development. The aim of the study. The aim of this paper is to outline the improving the efficiency of foreign language teaching for future non-linguistic specialists with the iplementation of the SIOP Model. Methods of the research. Methods of the research include theoretical - study of literature, experience on the problem, theoretical analysis of philosophical, sociological, psychological, pedagogical literature on research topics, synthesis of theoretical and empirical material, its generalization and systematization of data, modeling, comparison, forecasting; as well as a set of empirical methods – observations, study and generalization of pedagogical experience. Results. . It is revealed that The SIOP Model was developed to assist mainstream teachers in using research-based practices which ensure ELLs success with academic language and vocabulary. Over time, the model has proven to be a form of best practices for educators. It is also known to reach ELLs by focusing on academic language in order to obtain optimal results. Learning foreign languages in the context of intercultural paradigm has great potential for personal development. It is determined that professional mobility and competence are interdependent. The curriculum should include a cultural component, on the basis of which intercultural communication competence is formed. It is revealed that in the process of forming professional mobility it is very important to distinguish personal characteristics that provide mobility, activity and creativity of a person. The pedagogical conditions of professional mobility with the help of foreign languages are outlined. It is determined that the process of learning foreign languages is aimed at forming elements of general cultural and professional competences. Good command of a foreign language enables future professionals to effectively carry out their professional activities in their field, which will significantly increase the level of language training. It is considered that the formation of communication skills at the present stage implies the development of students' communicative competence. The component of directions of formation of multicultural communicative competence in the conditions of studying foreign languages for professional purposes is considered. Conclusion. The purpose of teaching foreign languages for future non-linguistic specialists with the application of the SIOP Model should upgrade the skills and abilities that allow the future specialist to effectively pursue a professional activity in their field: work with foreign literature, participate in discussions in a foreign language, speak or write a professional translation of business literature in professional field. The process of foreign languages learning with the implementation of SIOP Model is aimed at forming professional competencies. The combination of these competencies in the future will determine the level of training future professionals, the degree of their readiness for professional self-determination and professional activity. The SIOP components and functions demonstrate a number of aspects that make a teacher's performance effective. The SIOP Model combines the features of effective learning into one whole, integrates a foreign language with professional learning that in the context of modern Ukrainian education is especially relevant in the transition to a system of training future specialists.

We studied the psychological factors associated with the efficiency of online learning by using a sample of students from a Russian university (Ural Federal University). We used as a point of departure the idea of adaptive learning, which assumes that academic success in an online course is associated with the characteristics of cognitive, emotional, volitional and other areas of a student’s personality. The resulting general linear model includes such factors as internal motivation, external motivation, intelligence, personal qualities, training experience and openness to experience, which have an extremely low proportion of explained variance — 3 %. Based on the above research, the key conclusion was made that a successful student is successful in any training format. In other words, the focus of search for improving the efficiency of online learning should be not only on the psychological characteristics of those students who are successful in the online format, but also on improving the pedagogical design of the online course.

The article is devoted to the importance of the connection of the type of the nervous system and self-regulation in the professional development of future teachers. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that the formation of the foundations of selfregulation occurs during the period of training, when the process of personality formation takes place. Self-regulation of activity has its own characteristics among representatives of various areas of professional training and is associated with the structure of their temperament. Nowadays, the most urgent problem is the introduction of a differentiated approach into educational practice, but for its implementation an in-depth study of the individual typological and behavioral characteristics of students in pedagogical training areas is necessary. Since the modern high demands on the personal qualities and professional activities of teachers on the part of students and their parents, colleagues and heads of educational institutions are serious external incentives in the teacher’s work on himself. It is obvious that the success of pedagogical activity, in many respects depends on the ability of the future teacher to regulate his professional activities and personal characteristics. The aim of the study was to identify the types of temperament in future teachers, the formation of self-regulation and the relationship between them. The results obtained allow us to more effectively implement a personality-oriented approach in accordance with the specifics of the educational and professional orientation of students. To solve the tasks and verify the consistency of the hypothesis, the study used a combination of informative, reliable, complementary research methods. The data obtained during testing were subjected to mathematical processing in the SPSS program, Pearson’s correlation analysis was used, which allowed us to identify the relationship between the type of nervous system and the level of self-regulation.

Method. Using the method of content analysis, the article tests the hypothesis that "psychological security" can be the goal of education, and not just its material. Results and discussion. Based on the material of 21 Russian and foreign educational programs, the content units of the discipline are presented. Analysis of training practices and methods in both Russian and foreign programs allows us to offer a modular structure of the discipline "Psychological security", where the psychological security of the individual, workplace and global processes is its content core. Conclusions. The key difference between Russian education and American and German education is that in the Russian academic tradition, the main subject is the psychological security of the individual. While foreign programs are more focused on the psychological safety of the workplace and the environment. In addition, the author notes that the main educational methods coincide in the programs of foreign and Russian universities. 3Association of Anaesthetists | Better musculoskeletal health for anaesthetistsSummaryWork-related musculoskeletal disorders are very common amongst healthcare workers, and there is evidence that anaesthetists are at greater risk of upper limb disorders than other groups. This guidance aims to bring together advice and recommendations from a variety of sources in order to inform and support anaesthetists at work, in an attempt to reduce the prevalence and severity of work-related musculoskeletal disorders and the exacerbation of pre-existing disorders. Mechanical and psychosocial risk factors for work-associated musculoskeletal disorders are summarised, along with general principles for achieving better musculoskeletal health and practices specific to areas of the body most at risk. These include recommended exercises and stretches during sedentary work.RecommendationsAttention must be paid by both employers and anaesthetists to the physical and psychological risk factors that may lead to development and/or exacerbation of musculoskeletal disorders. This requires ongoing risk assessments and adherence to published standards of health and safety at work, including training. Such a programme is best achieved as part of a multidisciplinary approach. What other guidelines are available on this topic? There are many sources of guidance on health and safety in the workplace, across many sectors, much of which is of relevance to anaesthetists. There is no readily accessible guidance specifically aimed at the anaesthetic workplace. Why was this guideline developed? This guidance was developed as part of a wider piece of work by the Association of Anaesthetists based around ergonomics of the anaesthetic workplace, as a result of the increased reported incidence of musculoskeletal disorders amongst anaesthetists. It aims to draw on existing guidance and present a summary of advice relevant to anaesthetists and their practice. How and why does this publication differ from existing guidelines? This guidance summarises other advice and recommendations, and focuses on factors relevant to the anaesthetic workplace

This Insight Note contributes to the growing body of knowledge on teaching practices that foster student learning and achievement by analysing in-depth qualitative data from classroom observations and teacher interviews. Much of the research on teachers and teaching in development literature focuses on observable and quantified factors, including qualifications and training. But simply being qualified (with a university degree in education or subject areas), or trained in certain ways (e.g., coaching versus in-service) explains very little of the variation in learning outcomes (Kane and Staiger, 2008; Wößmann, 2003; Das and Bau, 2020). Teaching is a complex set of practices that draw on teachers’ beliefs about learning, their prior experiences, their content and pedagogical knowledge and repertoire, and their commitment and personality. Recent research in the educational development literature has turned to examining teaching practices, including content knowledge, pedagogical practices, and teacher-student interactions, primarily through quantitative data from knowledge tests and classroom observations of practices (see Bruns, De Gregorio and Taut, 2016; Filmer, Molina and Wane, 2020; Glewwe et al, in progress). Other studies, such as TIMSS, the OECD and a few World Bank studies have used classroom videos to further explain high inference factors of teachers’ (Gallimore and Hiebert, 2000; Tomáš and Seidel, 2013). In this Note, we ask the question: What are the teaching practices that support and foster high levels of learning? Vietnam is a useful case to examine because student learning outcomes based on international tests are high, and most students pass the basic learning levels (Dang, Glewwe, Lee and Vu, 2020). But considerable variation exists between learning outcomes, particularly at the secondary level, where high achieving students will continue to upper-secondary and lower achieving students will drop out at Grade 9 (Dang and Glewwe, 2018). So what differentiates teaching for those who achieve these high learning outcomes and those who don’t? Some characteristics of teachers, such as qualifications and professional commitment, do not vary greatly because most Vietnamese teachers meet the national standards in terms of qualifications (have a college degree) and have a high level of professionalism (Glewwe et al., in progress). Other factors that influence teaching, such as using lesson plans and teaching the national curriculum, are also highly regulated. Therefore, to explain how teaching might affect student learning outcomes, it is important to examine more closely teachers’ practices in the classroom.
