When an electrochemical energy storage is used as part of an energy system, the influence of external factors significantly changes its basic parameters: its available capacity decreases, while its internal resistance and self-discharge increase, which reduces the lifespan of the storage and disrupts the normal functioning of the energy system as a whole. Improving the performance of the energy storage is an urgent challenge, and one way to address it is to efficiently monitor the storage’s status. The purpose of this study was to increase the efficiency of using electrochemical energy storages by choosing a proper control method according to operating conditions of the storage. The conducted analytical overview of the existing methods of monitoring electrochemical energy storages allowed systematizing and classifying them by the controlled parameters. It is shown that if the storage operates in dynamic modes, such as buffer, starter or main energy source mode, when connecting high-power resistors, it is necessary to take into account such parameters as activation resistance and activation capacitance characterizing storage’s resistance capabilities and presenting valuable information for choosing the method of storage control. The paper demonstrates that in dynamic operation modes it is necessary to use impulse methods of storage control, which allow for efficient monitoring taking into account activation parameters. The authors offer practical recommendations on choosing a method of storage control depending on its operation mode. Pulse multistage potentiostatic and single-pulse galvanostatic control methods meet such requirements the most when the storage is operating in dynamic modes. The preference is given to the single-pulse galvanostatic method developed by the authors, it being relatively simple to implement and sufficiently informative for practical purposes, which facilitates the automation of the control process. Experimental results on controlling the electrochemical energy storage operating in dynamic modes obtained using the method developed by the authors confirm its efficiency.

This paper investigates about possibility , using storage technology of the SANs, and iSCSI-SAN protocol,in local system PC, to improve access to attached storage disks storages in local system, with using iSCSI-SANs as virtual storage, is rather than DAS storage in local system of PC. Explicates after experiment procedure is that improving throughput of iSCSI-SANs was better than attached storage disks storages - DAS in local system . This means is that it can use iSCSI-SANs in local system of PC as attache storage disks storages as DAS , without cost , high performance, and easy control.

The present article gives details about various storage structures classified into two categories, i.e., traditional storage/low-cost storage technologies and improved methods/ modern methods /high-cost storage technologies. Traditional storage structures can be beneficial for farmers needing a small-scale storage system. These systems include in-situ storage, sand and coir, clamps, pits, cellars, ventilated storage, and evaporative cooling. On the other hand, modern methods include refrigerated storages like cold storages, environment-controlled storage (controlled atmospheric storage), modified atmosphere storage, and hypobaric storage. All the storage methods are equally important and can provide high revenue to the farmers and food industries.

Every year the amount of generated data grows exponentially which entails an increase in both the number and capacity of data storage systems. The highest capacity is required for data storage systems that are used to store backups and archives, file storages with shared access, testing and development environments, virtual machine storages, corporate or public web services. To solve such tasks, nowadays manufacturers offer three types of storage systems: block and file storages which have already become a standard used for implementing IT infrastructures, and software-defined storage systems. They allow to create data storages on non-specialized equipment, such as a group of x86-64 server nodes managed by general-purpose operating systems. The main feature of software-defined data storages is the transfer of storage functions from the hardware level to the software level where these storage functions are defined not by physical features of the hardware but by the software selected for specific tasks solving. Today there are three main singled out technologies characterized by scalable architecture that allow to in-crease efficiency and storage volume through adding new nodes to a single pool: Ceph, DELL EMC VxFlex OS, HP StoreVirtual VSA. Software-defined data storages have the following advantages: fault tolerance, efficiency, flexibility and economy. Utilization of software-defined storages allows to increase efficiency of IT infrastructure and reduce its maintenance costs; to build a hybrid infrastructure that would allow to use internal and external cloud resources; to increase efficiency of both services and us-ers by providing reliable connection by using the most convenient devices; to build a portal as a single point of services and resources control.

Energy storages are the most important integral elements of both autonomous energy system based on renewable energy sources and vehicles of various purposes, where they are the main power source. Therefore, the issue of controlling their operation modes is an important one, and choosing the control methods is a relevant problem. The main operation modes of energy storages which require controlling are the work mode when the stored energy is consumed and the charging mode when the used energy is replenished. The example of on-vehicle energy storage is used to analyze basic operation modes and their particular aspects. Dynamic modes with unpredictable energy consumption caused by uncontrollable undercharging and overcharging are typical. The analysis allowed drawing the conclusion that, when controlling operation modes, it is necessary to consider the energy modes of accumulators, which reflect its efficiency most fully and objectively. The analysis of existing control methods showed that their common disadvantage is that they use such parameters as voltage and operating current to control and manage the storage modes. The fact is that due to the transient nature of electrochemical processes during the operation of the storage in dynamic modes, the values of these parameters do not correspond to the current energy state of the storage. This study aims to increase the performance of electrochemical energy storages by efficiently choosing a method for controlling their operation modes. The authors prove and experimentally confirm that when working with electrochemical energy storage devices in dynamic modes, it is necessary to choose the methods based on the application of the active material utilization ratio, information equivalent of which is the value of the area under the depolarization curve on the storage’s response signal to the charging impulse. The use of the proposed mode allows combining the functions of controlling and managing the storage.

With the transition to renewable energies and, above all, strongly fluctuating electricity from wind and solar energy, there will be a need for energy storage in the future. For central grid-scale storages, underground geological storage, similar to those already used for fossil fuels, is in the first place under review. Compressed Air Energy Storages have already been successfully used to provide minutes to hours reserve. For storage capacities in the day to week range, storage is required on a chemical rather than a mechanical basis, through either the conversion of electricity into pure hydrogen (H2) or the generation of mixtures of natural gas and synthetic methane. The latter – the so-called power-to-gas option – allows the use of the existing gas infrastructure. A likely first choice for the storage of H2 or H2-SNG mixtures are man-made salt caverns. The suitability of porous rock storage (depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs or water-bearing reservoirs – aquifers) is still under investigation. Interest in porous rock storage options arises, inter alia, from the fact that many regions of Europe lack suitable salt deposits. Favorable salt deposits exist in the UK, notably in the Cheshire Basin to the west and in eastern England, with six salt cavern-hosted facilities operated as natural gas storages. In any case, underground gas storages are characterized by high safety and low environmental impact.

“Hybrid Cloud Storage” (HCS) is a widely adopted framework that combines the functionality of public and private cloud storage models to provide storage services. This kind of storage is especially ideal for organizations that seek to reduce the cost of their storage infrastructure with the use of “Public Cloud Storage” as a backend to on-premises primary storage. Despite the higher performance, the hybrid cloud has latency issues, related to the distance and bandwidth of the public storage, which may cause a significant drop in the performance of the storage systems during data transfer. This issue can become a major problem when one or more private storage nodes fail. In this paper, we propose a new framework for optimizing the data uploading process that is currently used with hybrid cloud storage systems. The optimization is concerned with spreading the data over the multiple storages in the HCS system according to some predefined objective functions. Furthermore, we also used Network Coding technics for minimizing data transfer latency between the receiver (private storages) and transmitter nodes.

Community energy storages, i.e., central battery storages that take over the self-consumption optimisation of energetic communities, can play a central role in the cellular structure of the energy system. However, if the central storage is only used for optimising households’ self-demand, the use is neither economical nor efficient. Therefore, it is conceivable to use the storage for different applications. This article focused on a monthly storage rate for households in energetic communities. First, different households’ storage capacities were determined to demonstrate the benefits of a monthly adjustment in the shared storage for households and storage operators. The advantages are shown compared to annual storage rates and they can be seen on both sides. Households can increase their degree of self-sufficiency and their self-consumption rate through the monthly storage rates. In addition, the storage operator gains more security through the fixed monthly storage rates and has further opportunities to generate revenue through daily sales. In some months, the results show a secondary use potential of over 82% related to the monthly rate, which is determined by the complete data set and additionally substantiated for two exemplary households. In the second part of the article, the annual and monthly storage rates for different kinds of households were transferred into a multiple linear regression model. The model enables us to determine the monthly and annual storage rates of households on the basis of the annual electricity consumption, the installed photovoltaic power, and the rated power of the electric vehicle charging station as well as the heat pump. The estimated results show small deviations from the calculated results and can be used to simplify the planning of the community energy storage for various districts.

Abstract The following paper represents a study of one of a significant factor in fruit and vegetable products preservation - the load coefficient of refrigeration chambers, and based on the authors’ experimental study of carrots preservation in storages with 50 and 30% load, which is most typical of spring storage of root crops. The problem of fruits and vegetables preservation dependence on the load factor of storages has not been considered enough in scientific literature, which was confirmed in the review of literature sources in this field. Also it has been revealed that the load factor of chambers has a significant effect on the output of standard products, registered losses and natural loss. The especially negative effect of underloading the chambers (by 70%) is shown in the spring period (when they already were storaged for 6 months). At once, the load factor influence on preservation of mechanically damaged carrots is more remarkable than that for undamaged ones. Placing carrots in polyethylene bags or plastic boxes when loading the chambers can moderate the negative impact of underload – a situation which commonly occurs after 3 months of storage due to the sale of root crops and partial unload in refrigeration chambers. In addition, it was found that long-term storage of products in refrigerated chambers with a low load factor not only worsens conditions of carrots, but also increases operating costs, which reduces storage economic efficiency.

A study was conducted for 12 months to evaluate the effectiveness of two improved hermetic storage structures against two maize storage pests Sitophilus zeamais and Prostephanus truncatus at Liwufu Research Station, Malawi. The storages were metal silo and hermetic bag; Actellic super dust was included as a control. The treatments (storages) were replicated four times under natural and artificial infestations. Grain stored in metal silo had the lowest mean percentage weight loss, 1.04% to 1.25%, 12 months after storage followed by hermetic bag, 2.46% to 6.64%. Grain treated with Actellic super had the highest weight loss, 4.86% to 18.72%. The study showed that hermetic storage structures can be promoted as effective alternative non-chemical methods of grain storage for small holder farmers in Malawi.

Phase change materials are used in latent heat thermal energy storages to store a high amount of energy during phase change. A hybrid storage concept was developed with the aim of utilizing this high storage capacity in combination with Ruths steam storages. In the concept, a container filled with phase change material is placed at the shell surface of the Ruths steam storage. This container can be divided into several chambers filled with different phase change materials. An arrangement of electrical heating elements or heat exchangers at the internal side of these chambers is also provided. In this paper, a model of the hybrid storage concept is developed. The model consists of different sub-models, which are connected to each other. The simulation results of a hybrid storage show how important the model is for the analysis of the concept. Furthermore, the validation of the Ruths steam storage sub-model with operational measurement data of a storage line is presented. A maximum deviation between the operational measurement data and the simulation results of 6.43% occurs in terms of pressure at the internal side of the pressure vessel. In addition, the latent heat thermal energy storage sub-model was checked with the analytic solution.

The work objective is to substantiate the technical bases for the production of gas hydrate blocks directly on-site for further transportation and storage in above ground storages, as an alternative to transporting and storing gas in underground gas storages. The theoretical bases have been considered and processes of gas hydrate blocks producing, physical-mechanical characteristics of artificial hydrates with the purpose of determining the conditions of their storage and prolonged storage were tested in laboratory conditions. The construction of above ground gas hydrate storage in the form of a building, partially deepened in a ground, which is separated from the environment by a wall of gravel cement elements made by the mixing method were substantiated. It is proved that such a constructive solution for a long-term storage of gas hydrate blocks is the most economical in terms of energy consumption to maintain internal negative temperature.

To improve the utilization rate of energy, the consumption of fossil energy must be reduced. In this study, a low-temperature radiant floor made of concrete is taken as the research object, and a two-dimensional low-temperature hot water radiant heating system with different concrete filling layers is numerically simulated using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and finite element method. In this numerical model, a concrete sensible heat storage (SHTES) is adopted, while various types of concrete materials have been used to preliminarily analyze the influence of different concrete types on floor heat storage. The simulation results were further analyzed to determine the total heat storage during the heating period and the total heat storage and heat storage rate during the stable operation stage. The results demonstrate that the thermal conductivity coefficient of concrete floors had the most significant influence on the heat storage effect, with slag concrete demonstrating the most prominent heat storage effect. The total heat storage capacity of slag concrete after 7 h was 848.512 J. Overall, this study proposes a method to enhance the heat storage capacity of low-temperature radiant floors, while providing a design method for future solar energy storages and floor heat storages.

The development of information technology has greatly influenced the development of current storage media, such as cloud-based storage (cloud). Nextcloud and pydio storage are part of an open based cloud computing system. Measuring service quality can be seen from the aspects of throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss. This research was conducted to compare the upload and download speeds between the nextcloud server and the pydio server. Of the two cloud storage servers, five trial upload and download respectively. Based on the test results showing that the upload and download processes produce final cloud storage data which has the highest average throughput in terms of uploading files of different types and capacities, the next cloud server is 1,934.6 kbps. The cloud storage that has the lowest average packet loss value is balanced, because the two cloud storages get the same packet loss value of 0%. The cloud storage that has the lowest average file upload delay is the nextcloud server at 222,585 ms. The cloud storage that gets the lowest jitter value is the pydio server of 160.56 ms. Meanwhile, for downloading cloud storage files that have the highest average throughput value, nextcloud server is 1,332 kbps. The cloud storage that has the lowest average packet loss value is balanced, because the two cloud storages get the same packet loss value of 0%. The cloud storage that has the lowest average download delay is the nextcloud server at 132,057 ms, while the cloud storage that has the lowest jitter is the nextcloud server at 132,139 ms.

This paper proposes a storage-independent model for SPARQL-to-SQL translation algorithm based on relational view. During the development of Web ontology researches, the study for translation from SPARQL to SQL still remain issue. Previous researches focus on efficient and complete translation from SPARQL queries into equivalent SQL queries. However, these translation algorithms depend on specific structure of storages. When we modify the structure of storage, the translation algorithm also should be modified suitable changed structure of storage. This motivates us to study the issue of a model for independent use upon storage structures of an algorithm, which can then be guaranteed independency between translation algorithms and storages by generating relational view, and it improves application and usability of a translation algorithm. In addition, this paper show experiment result about accuracy and no data loss rate of query results on several storages.

Closed adsorption storages have been investigated in several projects for heat storage in building applications with focus on energy density and performance. This study complements this research with the assessment of the environmental impacts over the life cycle. Global warming potential (GWP) was chosen as the assessment criterion. Selected sorption materials in combination with water as the refrigerant were analyzed first by themselves and then embedded in a generic storage configuration. Sensible storage in water served as the reference benchmark. Results on material and component level showed that the relative storage capacity compared to water under realistic operating conditions reached values of below 4 and 2.5, respectively, in the best cases. Since the effort for producing the sorbents as well as the auxiliary material demand for assembling storage components was significantly higher than in the reference case, the specific environmental impact per storage capacity also turned out to be ~2.5 to ~100 times higher. We therefore suggest focusing sorption storage research on applications that (a) maximize the utilization of the uptake of sorbents, (b) do not compete with water storages, and (c) require minimal auxiliary parts.

The authors have explored the trade-offs between lock-free designs and traditional locking approaches.

Topicality. These researches are due to the grain storage problem, the features of maize grain storage in metal silos under the various environmental factors, as well as more efficient using the material and technical facilities, including the grain storages of new generation. Purpose. To establish the types of grain storage facilities that are most appropriate for storing the yield of different crops, to improve metal silos and maize grain storage technologies. Materials and Methods. During experiments on maize grain storage, we used the metal silo equipped with a system of sensors to measure the temperature in different places of grain heap. We studied two models of grain storages, such as a standard construction (control) and an experimental one thermal isolated with a polyurethane layer. During the storage experiment, grain quality was monitored on grain moisture content, dockage, damage and germination. Results. Different types of grain storage facilities storing main volume of grain harvest were characterized; the technical, economic and technological advantages and disadvantages of grain storage were highlighted; directions for further development are outlined. The features of maize grain storage in the metal silos under influence of external meteorological conditions for 60 day were established. Temperature fluctuations were 7.1–13 °С in grain storage with thermal insulation, 4.5–25.9 °С – without insulation. As a result of significant temperature fluctuations, the grain was moistened by 2.2 %, its acidity increased by 1 degree, germination decreased by 7 %. At the stage of preparation for storage, maize grain should be cleaned to purity of 93–97 % by removing grain impurities. An effective method for this is fractional separation of grain. Conclusions. Thermal insulation of metal silos significantly reduces the negative impact of fluctuations in ambient air temperature, stabilizes the storage mode, and ensures high quality maize grain. The stability of grain during storage increases in the case of selection from it a fraction of grain of small, unfilled, with a low 1000 grain weight. The efficiency of industrial processes can be increased by balancing steam production and consumption with a Ruths steam storage system. The capacity of this storage type depends strongly on the volume; therefore, a hybrid storage concept was developed, which combines a Ruths steam storage with phase change material. The high storage capacity of phase change material can be very advantageous, but the low thermal conductivity of this material is a limiting factor. On the contrary, Ruths steam storages have fast reaction times, meaning that the hybrid storage concept should make use of the advantages and compensate for the disadvantages of both storage types. To answer the question on whether this hybrid storage concept is economically feasible, a non-linear design optimization tool for a hybrid storage system is presented. From a preliminary approximation, the results show that the costs of hybrid storage can be reduced, in comparison to a Ruths steam storage with the same storage capacity. Furthermore, a possible hybrid storage design for a real industrial implementation is discussed. Based on further analyses, it was shown that under certain conditions, the retrofitting of a conventional Ruths steam storage to a hybrid storage can be advantageous and cost-effective, compared to an additional Ruths steam storage.

Abstract Experimental data on the behavior of the following thermal parameters of heat storage units made of magnesite and chamotte of electro-thermal storages (ETS) has been obtained: wall temperature change of air channels of heat storage units, temperature change of heated air in channels of heat storage, temperature change in the bulk of thermal insulation, for one cycle of heat charging and heat emission of ETS. After analyzing the obtained temperature distribution in the wall of channels of the heat storage units, it can be concluded that the heating rate of the heat storage units made of chamotte is higher during almost the entire charging mode of ETS compared to the units made of magnesite. In the heat emission mode, the cooling rate is significantly higher for chamotte units compared to a lower cooling rate for magnesite heat storage units.

When considering the deployment of renewable energy sources in systems, the challenge of their utilization comes from their time instability when a mismatch between production and demand occurs. With the integration of thermal storages into systems that utilize renewable energy sources, such mismatch can be evened out. The use of phase-change materials (PCMs) as thermal storage has a theoretical advantage over the sensible one because of their high latent heat that is released or accumulated during the phase-change process. Therefore, the present paper is a review of latent thermal storages in hydronic systems for heating, cooling and domestic hot water in buildings. The work aims to offer an overview on applications of latent thermal storages coupled with heat pumps and solar collectors. The review shows that phase-change materials improve the release of heat from thermal storage and can supply heat or cold at a desired temperature level for longer time periods. The PCM review ends with the results from one of the Horizon2020 research projects, where indirect electrical storage in the form of thermal storage is considered. The review is a technological outline of the current state-of-the-art technology that could serve as a knowledge base for the practical implementation of latent thermal storages. The paper ends with an overview of energy storage maturity and the objectives from different roadmaps of European bodies.

In recent years, the use of storages filled with phase-change material (PCM) is increasingly considered. Such design is characterized by a higher density of thermal energy accumulation in comparison with water storages. However, the optimal use of the PCM storages requires a recognition of its dynamic characteristics during the loading and unloading process. This paper presents research aimed at understanding and dynamic description of the heat transfer process in a shell-and-tube thermal energy storage. The experimental test stand and the measurement and control system are described. The investigated storage had a form of a cylindrical tank of 40 dm3 volume in which a coil made of pipes with an external diameter of 3.35 mm was immersed in the PCM. The total heat transfer area was 9.4 m2. A lumped parameter model was used to describe mathematically the storage thermal dynamics. The PCM used was commercially available RT15 material with the heat capacity of 150 kJ/kg in the temperature range of 10–17°C. In the investigations, aperiodic (ramp) temperature inputs were used. The storage tests were carried out for low (12 h) and high (6 h) speeds of charging and discharging. The amplitude of the input signal and the liquid temperature at the storage inlet were set to include the phase transition interval of the PCM used. The obtained test results allowed to determine the enthalpy as a function of temperature for the whole storage. The experimental results were also used to validate 0D mathematical model of the heat storage.

European Union climate goals aim to increase waste incineration instead of landfills. Incineration of waste increases the mismatch between heat production and consumption since waste is generated constantly but energy demand varies significantly between seasons. Seasonal energy storage is suggested to alleviate this mismatch. However, traditional seasonal storage options have not been cost-effective investments for energy companies. This paper explores the feasibility of a large cavern thermal energy storage in a large district heating system with waste incineration. First, 62 one-year optimisations for seasonal storage with varying size and power were conducted to determine the economic performance of the system. Second, the annual system emissions were estimated. The results show that even small capacity seasonal storage reduces system emissions significantly. Return on investment for the most profitable storage with a capacity of 90 GWh and power of 200 MW range between 3.6% and 9.4%, and the investment varies between EUR 43–112 M depending on costs. Seasonal energy storages are still not as profitable as traditional energy investments. This might change due to growing waste heat recovery and the rising cost of carbon emissions. Further research is needed into new business models for implementing large seasonal storages.

Abstract. Hydrological simulation in regions with a large number of water storages is difficult due to inaccurate water storage data. To address this issue, this paper presents an improved version of SWAT2005 (Soil and Water Assessment Tool, version 2005) using Landsat, a satellite-based dataset, an empirical storage classification method and some empirical relationships to estimate water storage and release from the various sizes of flow detention and regulation facilities. The SWAT2005 is enhanced by three features: (1) a realistic representation of the relationships between the surface area and volume of each type of water storages, ranging from small-sized flow detention ponds to medium- and large-sized reservoirs with the various flow regulation functions; (2) water balance and transport through a network combining both sequential and parallel streams and storage links; and (3) calibrations for both physical and human interference parameters. Through a real-world watershed case study, it is found that the improved SWAT2005 more accurately models small- and medium-sized storages than the original model in reproducing streamflows in the watershed. The improved SWAT2005 can be an effective tool to assess the impact of water storage on hydrologic processes, which has not been well addressed in the current modelling exercises.

Abstract This paper presents the synthesis of a pneumatic control system for a selected configuration of the transport path for the delivery of rolling elements to spiral storage in inter-operational transport. The sequential control system sets the state of the manifolds to ensure a flow of workpieces to serve the subsequent storage. The essential module of the control system is the memory block. It is developed based on a storage filling sequence graph. The filling level of the storages can be monitored in one or two points using sensors. The rolling element displacement control sensors work together with appropriately designed systems to execute the delay of the rising and falling edge input signal. By using a two-level control of the filling level of the storages, it is possible to control the emptying status of the storages as a function of the technological time of removal of the items from the storage between the two control points. Control systems were synthesised and verified using Festo’s FluidSim computer programme.

This is due to the fact that the cloud solution allows for a much convenient and hassle free experience that can allow for a much better handling and perseverance of data. There are a large number of organizations that utilize these services of which large number of employees access a singular file that leads to a lot of duplicates. The duplicates can take up unnecessary space which can be problematic with limited space and expensive online storage options. Therefore, there is a need for a de duplication mechanism where the duplicates on a shared cloud storage can be eliminated to improve experience and reduce storage consumption. With the expansion of renewables in the electricity markets, research on electricity storage economics is needed for a better understanding of the utilization of these systems and for improving the performance of intermittent variable generation. Collected up-to-date research of electricity storage systems published in a wide range of articles with high impact factors gives a comprehensive review of the current studies regarding all relevant parameters for storage utilization in the electricity markets. Valuable research of technical characteristics from the literature is broadened with the electricity storage analyses from an economic point-of-view. Analysis of selected technologies, considering different perspectives such as their profitability, technical maturity, and environmental aspect, is a valuable addition to the previous research on electricity storage systems. Comparing conducted analysis with the selected literature, electricity storage technologies are analyzed concerning their viability in the electricity markets. Given the current outlook of the electricity market, the main problems for storage's wider integration are still energy storage costs. These can be overcome with different applications of energy storage systems, integration of new market players, or a combination of storage technologies along with the implementation of new energy policies for storage.

PT. BIJ is an analytical laboratory services company, therefore PT. BIJ needs a good warehouse to be able to accommodate the samples it has PT. BIJ experienced problems with sample storage. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the sample storage system to make it easier to find samples to be analyzed. Using the Dedicated Storege and Class Base Storage methods will help provide grouping for each type of sample and place the samples in the right place so that the sample travel distance is shorter. The results of the research carried out can be obtained that the initial travel distance is 262.98 meters, while the proposed dedicated storage distance is 163.19 meters and the proposed basic class storage distance is 149.95 meters, so there is the largest percentage difference of 42.89%. So it can be concluded that using the class base storage method is better than the dedicated storage method.

This paper describes the development of a centralized controller to charge or discharge the battery storages that are connected to renewable energy sources. The centralized controller is able to assist, control, and manage the battery storage charging when excessive power is available from renewable energy sources. At the same time, the centralized controller also performs battery storage discharging when the connected load requires a power source, especially when the renewable energy sources are unavailable. Background studies regarding battery storage charging-discharging are presented in the introduction section. Also, generally developed charging-discharging methods or techniques were applied at the system level and not specifically to the battery storage system level. Due to the limited study on battery storage system charging-discharging, this paper reviews some of the similar studies in order to understand the battery storage charging–discharging characteristics as well as to propose a new conceptual methodology for the proposed centralized controller. The battery storage State-of-Charge (SoC) is used as the criterion to develop the conceptual centralized controller, which is also used as a switching characteristic between charging or discharging when only the battery energy storages are supplying the output power to the connected load. Therefore, this paper mainly focuses on the conceptual methodology as well as explaining the functionality and operationality of the proposed centralized controller. A summarized comparison based on the studied charging–discharging systems with the proposed centralized controller is presented to indicate the validity of the proposed centralized controller.

Agriculture is the leading occupation for the people of the Jharkhand. State has potential to produce horticulture product and this type of product like fruits and vegetables need cold storage industry because It plays a significant role for the agricultural sector where various items such as Vegetables, fruits and meat etc.is stored where temperature is maintained, so as to protect them from getting spoiled and there by extend their preservation period with the help of precision instruments. Cold storages are an acute technology to keep perishable items safe. It is also an industry to increase revenue by protecting and reducing the wastage of fruits & vegetables. Cold storage is a place where an item is needed can be taken anytime and can be made available to consumers very easily. Due to non-availability of space in the existing cold storage units, farmers are facing hardships to store their produced. The purpose of the study to analyze the current scenario of cold storage capacity in Jharkhand. It has been seen that there is a wide gap in availability of cold storages and agriculture produce to the markets. There are only 25 storage which has 80625MT capacity in Jharkhand. So, the urgent need for affordable, reliable, and sustainable expansion of cold storage infrastructure is crucial to boost agriculture's economic contribution. Farmers need the right financing and storage for the right price, enabling them to directly connect with multiple markets and maximize socio-economic impact.

Primary storages based on a linear transformer scheme were developed long ago. In this scheme, the secondary turn only has to be insulated from the high output voltage. Seven years ago at the High Current Electronics Institute (HCEI) a primary storage based on a linear transformer scheme and called the Linear Transformer Driver (LTD) stage was designed. In LTD stages, the primary turn, the storage capacitors with the switches, the core, and the outer conductor of the secondary turn are integrated into the stage cavity representing one separate building block of the primary storage. The body of the LTD cavity keeps ground potential during the shot allowing us to assemble them in series or in parallel depending on load requirements. Such flexibility of the storage structure and high output power of the LTD stages allows us to replace for some applications the traditional water line technology with LTD-based primary storages that are connected directly to the load (Direct Drive Scheme—DDS). In this article, we present the design of several LTD stages developed at HCEI and give examples of high-power energy storages produced by using the LTD technology.
