The article provides a brief insight into the history and reviews the current state of the health camps and health resorts in Russia. The conclusion is drawn that over the centuries Russia has developed traditions of health and resort recreation. The author suggests that some elements of the Soviet model of the relationship between the State and health resorts be extrapolated to the modern legal ground. The paper expresses the opinion about the possibility of using the legal mechanism of health resorts self-regulation. The legal status of health resorts is considered, the spectrum of functions and services performed by them is described. The author has classified services provided into basic (medical, temporary accommodation, nutrition) and supplementary (tourist, household, entertainment, sports and recreational, trade services) services. It has been proved that the specificity of the sanatorium-resort tourist product involves the complexity of the services it includes. Their integration and merger gives a synergistic effect, which leads to an increase in the efficiency of recreation and recovery as the main goal of tourism. The paper describes the system of requirements applied to regulate the work of health camps and health resorts. The paper demonstrates the importance of health resorts, determines their place in the tourist market, dwells on the specifics of health resorts in the sphere of tourism. The author focuses on the problems and contradictions of the legal regulation of activities of health resorts, ways of their minimization. Empirically, the research is founded on statistical data and the results of the author’s questionnaires used to question different parties involved . Analysis of the results of the survey showed that most respondents do not associate health resorts with tourism. However, under Russian and international regulations, health camps and health resorts are referred to medical tourism, the main specificity of which is that it involves medical treatment. The author provides arguments in favor of the necessity of systematic work aimed to explain obvious advantages of health tourism. Attention is drawn to the role of health camps and resorts in achieving the program goals of the State.

At that time, the most important architectural works were created in the High Tatras, which in different ways dealt with the fundamental question: how to build in the mountains? Through the built results achieved in the region, it is now possible to study the success of this discussion.

The purpose of the article is to highlight the problem of using the potential of local territory in the processes of promoting local uniqueness as a consumer product. This study aimed at analysis and appraisal of the recreational resources of Kaniv for the organization of recreational activities in the planning strategies of the city as a recreational and tourist center. The study of the entire set of recreational resources of the city resulted in a constructive analysis and evaluation of the recreational benefits of the city’s resources. In the course of the survey, the directions of recreational environmental management in the city were determined in accordance with the programme of development of small Ukrainian cities. The analysis and assessment of the territory’s resources was conducted using integrated methodologies of studying recreational assets that take into account the evaluation methods of medical geography, recreology etc. Our study found that geomorphological, climatic, water, biotic, and landscape recreational natural resources are significant for the organization of recreational activity in the city and which, according to the estimation of recreational favourability, are highly conducive and convenient for both winter and summer recreation. A number of indicators of natural resources are of high value for the treatment and prevention of a wide range of diseases, including problems with respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous systems. The development of recreation and tourism in the city is also influenced by the existing historical and cultural resources, which include a whole set of archaeological, architectural and historical monuments, ethnographic features and crafts, museums and exhibitions, places and areas of significant events, places of life and creativity for prominent personalities, heroes and figures, etc. The socioeconomic resources and infrastructure of the city have a significant impact on the functioning of the recreational affairs, such as the state of the existing and prospective territorial organization, transport accessibility and level of its development, the public service and its condition (food establishments, residence, etc.). Nowadays, Kaniv is characterized by partly lower indicators of socio-economic development, business activity and, at the same time, enjoys a powerful natural, recreational and tourist, historical and cultural potential. Development of recreational and tourist activity in the city should be considered as a tool for increasing economic indicators (employment, business activity and growth of its financial indicators) and improvement of demographic indicators (reduction of labour migration, etc.), etc. The natural and cultural heritage of Kaniv is a source of socio-economic and human development through the integration of cultural monuments into the national tourist network. This can be achieved through the creation of new museum programmes, the development of a network of establishments based on authentic cuisine, traditional interiors, etc. It can further be promoted through creation of a network of ecological trails and routes which give access to the area’s unique natural ecosystems. Recreation and tourist activity can also be encouraged through popularization of environmental affairs, creation of programmes for development of the resort business, programmes of family recreation, development of different types of water, hiking, educational (culture, events, research, etc.) and eco-tourism, and the development of programmes and events in the field of sport fishing and hunting.

The paper determines the foundation of formation of a touristic recreational potential of Lviv region. Main contributing factors of development of the tourism industry of the region are investigated. It is established that the largest reserves of recreational resources are located in Drohobych, Zhovkva, Pustomyty, Sokal and Stryj districts. Small amounts of resources are concentrated in Brody, Zhidachiv, Kamenka-Buzka, Mykolayiv, Peremyshlyansk, Radekhiv, Sambir and Turka districts. Tourist routes of Lviv region were estimated. In particular, the most promising ones were evaluated, including the Golden Ring of the Boykivshchyna, the Russky Path – the old way through the Carpathians, Makivka – the mountain of the immortal glory of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen. The correlation-regression relationship between the indicators forming the tourist flows and the main components of the tourism development of the studied region was determined. The level and intensity of current usage of the potential of the region were estimated. SWOT-analysis of touristic and recreational potential of the region was carried out. The study of a touristic and recreational sector of Lviv region has made it possible to establish that its development depends primarily on the advantageous geographical location of the region, rich natural-resource and historical and cultural potential, and the development of touristic and recreational infrastructure. It was established that the region has all the necessary preconditions for the long-term development of cultural-cognitive, scientific-educational, religious, medical, hunting, ecological, business, sports and excursion types of the tourism industry. Particularly important and promising is the development of rural (green) tourism in the region. The development of touristic and recreational sphere of Lviv oblast depends, first and foremost, on the rational use of natural and cultural-historical resources, the reconstruction of sanatoriums and resorts, recreational and touristic establishments, the creation of material and technical base for the development of touristic and recreational industry, promotion of investment attraction, distribution of touristic product on the domestic and world markets and strengthening of international cooperation in the field of tourism and recreation.

The Aosta Valley is an alpine region in north-west Italy that is characterized by a high level of naturalness, with extensive uninhabited areas that are distant from artificial sound sources. The Aosta Valley Regional Environmental Protection Agency (ARPA-VdA) has been particularly sensitive to the preservation of the soundscape, which is considered an integral part of the landscape, since the laws on noise pollution were first introduced. The nature of the ski areas in the Aosta mountains, which undergoes changes throughout the year, is surely of great importance, especially during the winter season, when the number of visitors is particularly high. In fact, during the winter, the sounds of nature are replaced by those produced by recreation and sports activities. Mountain and snow tourism, which are developed in sensitive environmental contexts in the Aosta Valley, are sectors of immense social and economic importance. Much of this tourism takes place in ski resorts. Three mountain areas with different characteristics, in terms of attendance and recreational/sport activities, have been examined in this paper, as part of a collaboration between ARPA-VdA and the Politecnico di Torino. Acoustic measurements were performed in order to identify the seasonal variations of sound emissions from both natural and anthropic sound sources. In addition to the standard environmental acoustic descriptors foreseen by European legislation (LAeq, Ln, Lden, etc.), the harmonica (IH) index, which provides a quantitative evaluation of the acoustic quality on a zero to ten numerical scale, was used to qualify the acoustic climate of the three areas. The results presented in the paper provide useful information on a relevant subject—the preservation of the acoustic quality of a mountain area of touristic importance—which has been scarcely investigated so far.

<p>The objective of this paper is to assess the resource potentials for tourism and potential tourist destinations in the province of Buriram, Thailand. Buriram province is located in the North-eastern part of Thailand, about 410 km northeast of Bangkok. Indicators and evaluative standards for resource potential assessment were determined, and altogether the total of 31 sites were assessed by a simple weighted score method, one of the popular methods for evaluating the potential of tourism sites. The total number of indicators used was 45. The results revealed that eight sites were categorized into the natural tourist destination, ten sites were the historical tourist destination, ten sites were the cultural tourist destination, and another three were the sport-recreational tourist destination. These three sport-recreational sites, known as I-Mobile Stadium, Chang International Circuit, and Play La Ploen Boutique Resort and Adventure Camp, were the latest attractions because there were built within the last five years, but consequently have become among the most popular tourist attractions in the area. The site assessment revealed that tourism sites in Buriram province had a potential overall score of 2.23 (moderate level) from the highest score of 3.00. Approximately 39% of the total tourism sites have higher potential. Horse breeding in the Republic of Croatia, before its entrance into European Union, is in the transitional period. In the breeding sense, Croatian horse breeding is set according to the model of European countries and is trying to counteract with ?modern horse breeding countries?. Croatian Center for Horse Breeding - Djakovo and Lipik State Stud Farms (CCHB), with the Central register of equidae is, as the head national institution, responsible for running and maintaining national central equidae database (49 registers of horses and 27 registers of breeding types). Croatia has registered total of 21.796 equidae, from which 19.306 animals are horses. Registered horses according to groups make the total proportion of 37% warmblood horses, 59% coldblood horses and 4% ponies. Horse breeders are organized in breeders associations, which form federations of associations referring to separate horse breeds. Currently in Croatia there are four federations of breeders associations (with 43 associations and 11 private stud farms). Those verified breeding organizations are conducting independently breeding programs and fully maintain breeding and selection obligations for horse breeds for which they have approval of the Croatian Ministry. Native breeds in Croatia are Croatian Coldblood, Croatian Posavac and Medjimurje horse (Murinsulaner), while Lipizzan horse is considered as protected breed. Development of horse breeding is considerably supported with national subsidies. Internationally verified breeds which are bred in Croatia are Lipizzan horse, Pure Arabian horses, Thoroughbred, Haflinger and Gidran horses. The horse breeding in Croatia is developing in four different directions. Ecological breeding implies native horse breeds and is spread on the areas of protected nature resorts in Croatia. Croatians are through their history connected to horse breeding, which is even today irreplaceable in traditional cultural manifestations (Djakovacki vezovi, Vinkovacke jeseni, Sinjska alka, etc.), various horse shows and fairs and also in more ?modern? ways through recreation and entertainment. The third direction of development of horse breeding in Croatia is therapeutic riding, which includes 26 associations, over one hundred horses and over one thousand users organized under the Therapeutic Riding Association of Croatia. Sports horse breeding represents fourth direction in Croatian horse breeding. It is formed by four federations: Croatian Trotting Federation (trotting), Croatian Gallop Federation (gallop sport) and Croatian Equestrian Federation (endurance, dressage, military, show jumping, driving). Croatian Equestrian Federation includes 49 equestrian clubs. In the last four years between 455 and 582 competitors and between 495 and 581 horses (for show jumping 45%, dressage 31%, endurance 19%, driving 5% and military) were licensed annually. Croatia achieved noticeable results on the international scene in driving sports and in Paralympics. In all mentioned directions of Croatian horse breeding, the tendency should be directed to achieving higher breeding standards (nutrition, stabling, transport, training) and more rational using of horses. Such breeding and using of horses will lead to top bred horses and successful sport horses. This implies synchronized work through long period of time, respecting institutional and breeding rules.

The affirmation of Zlatibor as a tourist destination dates back to ancient times, so Zlatibor can be proud of its tradition of over 150 years. The turning point in the development of Zlatibor tourism is the visit of the Serbian sovereign Alexander I Obrenović. In 1893, two important tourist settlements were located on the mountain and residential objects were built. Therefore, the previously mentioned year is considered to be the beginning of organized tourism on Zlatibor. The second turning point in the development was the construction of a modern road that connected Užice with Kraljeva Voda, at the time when the interest of tourists exceeded the accommodation capacities. At the beginning of the 1930s due to the numerous values of Zlatibor, its favorable position and good transport connections with all parts of Serbia and neighboring countries, tourism on Zlatibor started to develop. The Zlatibor Resort, on the mountain of the same name, annually receives over one million overnight stays, mainly by domestic tourists, making it one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Republic of Serbia. The types of tourist services are sports, recreational, health and Congress tourism, and in recent years, tourist offers for children and youth have become more important. Accordingly, Zlatibor, as a tourist center, has no significant competition in Serbia or in the region. With further development and investment in tourism, Zlatibor will carry for a long time the epithet of the most visited and most attractive tourist destination of Serbia, despite its obvious shortcomings.

This article represents current tendencies stemming from collapse in the price of oil, devaluation of the national currency, bilateral international sanctions after the accession of Crimea and events in Ukraine, the aggravation of political situation and closure of the main areas of outbound tourism, namely Turkey and Egypt. Such negative situation for the country in whole has some positive aspects of the impact on internal tourism development, especially in regions with favorable climatic conditions and developed material basis for the tourism industry. Primarily Kuban is among these regions. The region for decades has been asserting as a tourism and recreation complex with a unique specialization in sanatorium-and-spa treatment. It has great social and economic potential, developed infrastructure, natural conditions for the international specialization in tourism and for high-quality rest and treatment of Russian citizens. However, the analysis showed that advances in this direction are insufficient. Even with the favorable impact of external factors many development indicators of the region’s tourism industry in the pre-crisis time are lower than in 2005. The high cost of services that is beyond reach for many Russian citizens is one of the important obstacles for tourism development. Hotel services and usage of the sports infrastructure in Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana are more expensive than in foreign resorts, but are inferior in services, for example, to Austrian Innsbruck. The state regulation of the tourism industry, definition of the strategic objectives and development of mechanisms to achieve them are in need. Spontaneous development of the complex can cause damage and prevent to use region’s temporary factors and advantages in a difficult period for the country.

Changes have occurred in Japanese regional development policy to accommodate the decline in production and commercial activities. Initially, the thrust was on using high-tech activities to promote regional development within an emerging information society. Subsequently, this strategy has been complemented by a policy of regional development based on the leisure and construction industries. Before this policy is outlined attention is focused on examining a conceptual framework for tourism urbanisation and past resort development in Japan. Then the key features of the Comprehensive Regional Resort Preparation Plan, 1987 and its implementation are detailed with reference to case studies in Tohoku, Kanto, and Kyushu and Okinawa. An analysis is also undertaken of key resort facilities with particular reference to golf course development and theme parks. The relevance of concepts fashioned for tourism urbanisation in explaining tourism-led regional development is also considered. Apart from underlining the way in which resorts are blurring the distinction between urban and regional activities the task of monitoring Japanese resort development is highlighted.

Background. Brand formation of a resort and recreational enterprise is a key factor of success and competitive advantage. The socio-economic development of the destination, its investment attractiveness and the development of an export-oriented model of the resort and recreational sphere depend on the strength of the brand’s influence. This significant scientific aspect requires a theoretical substantiation of the brand concept of a resort and recreational enterprise and the study of the basic of its formation. The aim of the article is to study the methodological foundations of the brand concept of the resort and recreation enterprise, taking into account the key features of the resort and recreation service, which will increase brand awareness, provide reliable information to consumers, the resort and recreation company will balance supply and demand especially during periods of seasonal fluctuations. Materials and methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the article are theoretical and analytical-applied researches of Ukrainian and foreign scientists on branding, as well as statistical data of international organizations, UNWTO, GWI, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, statistical and financial reporting of resort and recreational enterprises, etc. Such scientific methods and approaches as system, analysis and synthesis, comparison, graphic have been used in the research. Results. Definitive analysis of the essence of the brand concept has showed that the concept covers key ideas and essence, it is irrational, it is transmitted non-verbally and it is a guide for consumers in the market environment. Functional attributes of resort and recreational services are a consequence of interpenetration of features of resort, hotel and recreational services. The brand of the resort-recreational enterprise must transmit information about the resort and recreational service as a set of services aimed at providing medical, health, rehabilitation, valeological, recreational and animation services. Taking into account the phenomenon of diffusion is associated primarily with the reflection in the brand of the enterprise of the complexity of the signs of resort and recreational services. The concept of a diffuse brand of a resort and recreational enterprise should reflect a suggestive and marketing approach to brand formation. Conclusion. Diffuse brand is an indicator that reflects the multifunctional of the resort and recreational service and broadcasts relevant information about its consumer characterristics. Disclosure of the concept of the brand of the resort and recreational enterprise through a diffuse brand is a marker of the effectiveness of marketing activity of the resort-recreational enterprise in differentiating marketing communication channels to address potential customers and stimulate sales of resort and recreational services.
