Will there be different results on the club head speed which concern with the time of ball impacted is earlier or late to the time of maximum vertical force on left foot, and according to Asmussen (1960), the counteraction of gravity is maintained primarily by the back muscle during trunk forward rotation, so will there be different results on the club head speed which is due to the contraction time of latissimus dorsi is prior or late to that of pectoral major? Those points of view pointed out the sequential movement can be checked by time of weight on left foot, impact, and sequential of muscles contraction during down swing. So the intent of this study is to find out the sequential movement of down swing and its affection on the club head velocity. The time between the maximum vertical force on right and left foot named “weight transform phase”, on left foot and impact named “whipping phase”. The start time between latissimus dorsi and pectoral major`s contraction named “time difference of contraction”. Two separate force plates, club head speed meter, EMG and an artificial swing mate on force plate were arranged in laboratory. Samples of vertical force were collected with 1000 Hz rate in Kistler system, speed meter(m/sec)was put on the neck of club head, and the muscles activity data with 1000 Hz rate in Bio-Pac system and AcqKnowledge software were obtained from electrode detectors on latissimus dorsi and pectoral major. Three elite golfers from national team members and four beginners were tested and named A and B group. We found action phase of A group was 0.250 ±0.087 sec and of B group was 0.478 ±0.290sec, reaction phase of A group was 0.058 ±0.01 sec and of B group was 0.049 ±0.25sec sec, time difference of contraction of A group was 0.448 ±0.18 sec and of B group was 0.691 ±0.370 sec and club head speed of A group was 44.83 ±1.14 m/sec and of B group was 37.27 ±3.80 m/sec. Moreover, there were 78 times of B group performing the incorrect sequential movement during down swing which caused the contraction time of pectoral major prior to latissimus dorsi and reduce the club head speed to 28.74±2.02 m/sec. The T test of two groups shown the significant difference on all factors except action phase of B group, and the correlation test of A group shown that action phase, reaction phase, and time difference of contraction were significant related to club head speed(p<.01). The results shown that the correct sequential movement could increase the club head speed during golf down swing.

Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between club head speed and swing movement pattern which included trunk rotation and weight transfer pattern. Methods: Ten golfers (7 males, 3 females, age: 16.9±3.5 years, handicap: 4.5 ±3.17) were recruited to perform two velocity of club head speed: normal club head speed (NS) and accelerated club head speed (AS). The kinematics variables were collected by 3D Vicon Motion Capture System (250Hz), and the kinetic variables were collected by two Kistler foreplates (1000Hz). Paried t test was employed to compare the differences of trunk rotation and weight transfer patterns between normal club head speed and accelerated club head speed. Significant level was set at 0.05. Results: There were several significant differences between AS and NS been found. First of all, AS was found a greater pelvic tilt angle toward anterior at address phase. A greater upper trunk rotation angle and pelvic tilt angle at backswing phase as follow. Next, AS showed larger pelvic side bending angle at top of the backswing phase, smaller pelvic rotation angle and larger X Factor at downswing phase. After that, AS was found greater pelvic rotation angle and greater X Factor at the ball impact phase. Ultimately, AS was found greater pelvic tilt angle at the follow through phase. On the other hand, with the respect of weight transfer pattern, AS were found significant greater VRGF maximum, and were found greater VGRF at the downswing phase. Moreover, there were found greater displacement range of COP with AS, and significantly shift toward toe at the address and downswing phase. Conclusions: We concluded that golfer would adjust their trunk rotation and weight transfer pattern to accelerate the club head speed.

O desenvolvimento dos atletas nos seus mais variados parâmetros é o principal objetivo da formação do S.C.P, não só formar atletas, mas acima de tudo formar Homens. Cada departamento tem a sua finalidade no longo processo que é o desenvolvimento dos jovens atletas de futebol. O L.O.R. por sua vez é responsável pelo desenvolvimento das qualidades físicas dos atletas, vulgo ‘’trabalho físico’’. Os seus membros são responsáveis pelo planeamento das sessões de treino, com vista à melhoria das qualidades físicas, recuperação de lesões e de esforços depois dos jogos, aspetos nutricionais, entre outros. Dependendo do escalão em que o atleta se insere, está estipulado um tipo base de trabalho. Nos escalões mais novos, o trabalho centra-se muito na coordenação e com o avançar da idade começa a dar-se primazia a outras vertentes, como a hipertrofia e força máxima, sem nunca descurar as restantes vertentes. Para além do trabalho geral, são realizadas baterias de testes físicos, duas a três vezes ao ano, para se compreender quais as necessidades especificas de cada jogador e dessa forma elaborar um trabalho individual, os testes visam em analisar os índices de força, flexibilidade, resistência e velocidade. Nesta época em concreto foram realizados dois momentos de avaliação, pré-época (Julho) e a meio da época (Março). No fim do ano foi realizada uma análise dos resultados e podemos observar que os atletas melhoraram os parâmetros analisados. Um fato curioso foi que os atletas não residentes na academia tiveram melhores resultados nos testes de força de membros inferiores, ao passo que os atletas residentes melhoraram os resultados dos testes mais ligados ao jogo (velocidade, agilidade e VO2máx).
The goal of this report is showcase the work developed by the department of physical qualities of Sporting CP, taken place on the Lab for Performance Optimization (L.O.R) during the season of 2015/2016, on the U17 team. The development of its athletes and their various skills, is, and has always been, the primary focus of Sporting Clube de Portugal’s academy. In that, is also the aim on bringing up athletes as true Men. Each department has its own specific goal during the long process that is the development of the football athlete. The L.O.R is responsible for the development of the physical attributes of the athletes, in other words, the ‘’physical work’’. Members of these department are responsible for planning training sessions focusing the improvement of physical qualities (PQ), recovering from injuries and postmatch muscle exhaustion, nutritional advice (meal and supplements), plus more. Considering the age level of these athletes, there is a preset work structure method. In the younger teams, much is geared towards team coordination, while later, the focus starts to spread into other traits (adding more without subtracting or lessen already acquired traits), such as, hypertrophy maximum strength. Beyond the general work, two to three times a year, there will be benchmark scoring tests performed to identify specific needs of each player, and as such allowing for a more individual work plan for each athlete, the tests aim to analyze the strength, flexibility, endurance and speed indexes. In this particular season, we carried out two evaluation moments, pre-season (July) and mid-season (March). At the end of the year, an analysis of the results was carried out and we can see which are the best analysis parameters. A curious fact was that nonresident athletes had better results in lower limb strength tests, while resident athletes improved the results of tests more associated with the game (speed, agility and Vo2max).
