Der volle Inhalt der QuelleProblem There’s a risk that by focusing on problems rather than opportunities the negative effects of digital gaming has been over exposed in previous research. And according to reports and studies this research can’t be considered to rest on proper scientific basis. This can improperly characterize and influence the professionals' treatment of adolescents with risky behavior around digital games. This study aims to identify possible connections between digital gaming, the individual's mental health and their relationships to family, friends and surroundings. The hope is to be able to contribute with valuable knowledge to the professionals that possibly will them in their treatment of young people with such risky behavior. Method Through a quantitative survey with a total of 108 respondents with gaming interest, necessary data has been collected about digital games, mental health factors and relationships with family, friends and surroundings. Result Correlations was found between the extent of gaming and the factors of social gaming, escape and demands/status. In addition to their reciprocal relationship these factors have also shown significant parallels to the respondents' mental health and relationships with parents, friends and surroundings. Conclusion If there is a risk behaviour it is important for professionals to be interested in the individuals’ gaming pattern to understand the basis of the problem, as other factors like social surroundings and environment of negative character might have an influence on this pattern.

The social environment and its different processes have been shown to influence individual’s perception of health and peoples’ attitude toward health and behavior constructions. However, the range of knowledge about these processes and their influence is small, while women perceive their health worse than ever. It is essential that more research be conducted, on the phenomenon of social processes and health, which can increase awareness around this. increase the awareness of health and its benefits. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate how young women describe health and how they perceive that heir social environment and surroundings influences their attitude and behavior toward health. The method that was used in this study was qualitative semi-constructed interviews that were answered by seven women, aged 20-30 years. The data have thereafter been categorized by common themes and was then analyzed with the help and inspiration of phenomenology. The result, the common experiences that these women shared, showed that health was perceived as a balance between psychical and physical wellbeing. The social environment contain expectations and norms regarding the attitudes and behaviors toward health, however the women did not conceive these to have any impact on their experience of health. The environment and surroundings have therefore no pronounced influence over the women’s experience of health. It is impossible, however, to verify that there are no influence what so ever, as it may be an unconscious process in interplay with the surroundings.

We have carried out five qualitative interviews with individuals employed by KRIS to gain a deeper understanding regarding the process of breaking out of a criminal lifestyle. KRIS acts as a support system for individuals who seek voluntary care in terms of ending a deviant behavior. Members within KRIS have the opportunity for support groups, therapy treatments, supported housing, leisure activities, education, work, and friendship. KRIS works as a safety net with access to an increased social network for individuals who want to get out of crime.To analyze the research empirics, we have used both Erving Goffman's (2011) theory of stigma and Helen Ebaugh's (1988) theory of the exit process. Goffman's (2011) theory increases awareness of how the individual is stigmatized by the environment as a result of his deviant actions. Ebaugh's (1988) theory describes the processes that the individual goes through to leave a social role and replace it with another social identity. These theories enable a compilation of the life experiences that all respondents talk about in the interviews. These theories together with the interviews will clarify the study's aim.The results of the study demonstrate several factors that contribute to the individual's cessation of crime. The results indicate that all respondents experienced a special event in their lives that caused feelings of wanting to break with crime. The survey also shows that positive reactions from family members and the social environment have a contributing effect on the respondents' cessation of crime. Among other factors, the KRIS association has had a great influence on the respondents' cessation of crime, as KRIS motivates and helps members to live a drug-free and honest life.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe purpose of this study is to gain a greater understanding of some underlying causes of why people commit criminal acts. The general questions of the study are; in what way does the social circle of friends affect the individual’s prerequisites for developing a criminal lifestyle? How can these underlying causes of crime be explained and understood? The questions are answered by semi-structured interviews with five individuals with previous criminal background. With the use of a thematic analysis method the interview material was structured into three themes that have been formulated based on the datasets that have been collected. The analysis is done with the use of previous research and theories of differential association and reinforcements, symbolic interactionism, labeling and social bond. The study shows that the interview participants end up in crime as a result of their growth, school situation and their circle of friends interacted in a negative way. Common to all those interviewed informants is that they had insufficient contact with both parents during childhood. The lack of assurance from the parents was something they instead searched for in their social circle of friends. The informants schooling was consisted of poor school performances, and they often socialized with friends who also misbehaved.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe purpose of this study is to gain understanding of how self employed entrepreneurs (hereafter referred to as “entrepreneurs”) develop their competence based on their perceived learning space. The main question is: How do these entrepreneurs develop their competence based on their perceived learning space? Other questions relevant for the study are: How important is the social environment for these entrepreneurs and how do they interact with their social environment in order to develop their competence. The study has a qualitative approach. Semi-structured interviews with six entrepreneurs were conducted, during March and April 2008. The main finding of this study is the process by which the entrepreneurs develop their competence based on their perceived learning space. This is done through interaction with the entrepreneurs’ social environment. With a specific work task in mind, the entrepreneur evaluates his/her own competence in order to solve the task at hand, and in parallell search for the needed competence in his/her social environment. The social environment is therefore found to be very important to the entrepreneurs in the study. The active and conscious interactions lead to learning and in turn to development of the individual competence. This approach is essential for the entrepreneur to keep up-to-date and to stay attractive on the work market. Another finding in the study is how the entrepreneurs are forced to be more selective in the development of their competence, compared to a traditional employee, i.e. the entrepreneur needs to be more aware of whether he or she will gain anything from engaging in the specific activity. The responsibility for development of the individual competence lies solely on the entrepreneur. The development of the competence is however not separated from the overall responsibility of the business, but can be seen as part of the daily work.

By using theory I will try to explain why these organizations emerges. As these organizations work across sectors, is it also interesting to know how they experience the collaboration with the public, private and non-profit sectors. Based on theory, I will try to explain why they experience the collaboration as they do.Most of the social entrepreneurs I have interviewed are not part of the traditional sports movement, or do not feel part of it, but they use sports as a means of solving various societal challenges, which traditionally have been the task of the welfare state. They have different forms of organization, and few of them have members in the traditional sense.I have done qualitative interviews with seven social entrepreneurs who all have started organizations that want to solve social challenges by using sports as a means. The interviews showed that what is characteristic of these organizations is that they all have different forms of organization. They collaborate with both the public, private and non-profit sectors. Several of the interviewees thought that the collaboration with the public sector worked well now, but in the beginning they had run into problems as getting in touch with the right administration and the right person in the municipalities. It was very person-based if the collaboration or relationship worked. Several of the interviewees feel that it is difficult to get a collaboration with the sports movement, and they feel that the sports movement is sceptical to them. At the same time, many feel that both the public sector's and the sports movement's attitude towards them has improved in recent years. They thought it was easier to get cooperation with the privat sector, the business community.To answer the purpose and the problem in this study, I have given a description of the historical development in civil society, the sports movement and in the Swedish governance. As a theoretical frame of reference, I have used theories of New Institutional theory, theory of organizational spaces and theory of hybrid organizations.

Syftet med min studie är att undersöka hur en självskadande ungdoms omgivning uppfattar individens handlande och hur individen i fråga upplever responsen kring detta handlande. Jag har använt mig av följande frågeställningar: Hur påverkar en självskadande individ sin familj, partner och
vänner? Hur reagerar omgivningen och vilka åsikter har de kring individens handlande? Hur uppfattar och påverkas individen av omgivningen reaktioner och åsikter?
I mitt teoriavsnitt kommer jag att gå igenom fem olika teorier: symbolisk interaktionism,
identitet och identitetsskapande, Giddens kroppsliga kontroll-perspektiv, Brun Hansens
begrepp serviceföräldrar samt Mills sociologiska vision.
Jag har i arbetet med min analys kommit fram till att mina frågeställningar kan besvaras
genom ett begrepp som jag vill benämna ”den onda cirkeln”, som innebär att Carolines
omgivning hade en negativ påverkan på Caroline oavsett hur de handlade. Om Caroline fick för mycket uppmärksamhet kände hon sig trängd och skadade sig själv samtidigt som brist på uppmärksamhet ledde till att hon kände sig åsidosatt vilket också resulterade i självskadande handlingar.

För att attrahera potentiella arbetstagare använder sig företag idag framförallt av direkt och riktad information till de individer och formella grupper av individer som bedöms som intressanta. Denna typ av kommunikation kan ses utelämna stora delar av den omgivning som inom socialpsykologin anses ha stor påverkan på individens val och agerande.
Syfte: Att söka förståelse för och vidareutveckla teorin kring hur talent attraction kan ske genom att tilltala individen emotionellt, via den sociala omgivningen och genom att se till individens identitetsskapande. Metod: Genom ett expert- och snöbollsurval har 8 experter inom det valda ämnesområdet identifierats och intervjuats. Formen för intervjuerna har varit av diskussionskaraktär.
Resultat: Vi har i uppsatsen presenterat stöd för att omgivningen påverkar individens val av arbetsgivare, att val av arbetsgivare har en påverkan på individens identitet och att även emotionella faktorer har inverkan vid individens val av arbetsgivare. Dessa resultat menar vi innebär att potentiella arbetstagare bör ingå som en intressent till varumärket. Detta medför en förändrad syn på hur arbetsgivare kan arbeta med talent attraction då emotionella och symboliska faktorer utgör ett komplement till de rationella och kompensatoriska faktorer som vi sett dominera dagens teoribildning.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe purpose of this study has been to examine what a pedagogical approach and way of work (PFA) can contribute to the municipal psychiatric care. Two PFA educators was interviewed and the empirical data has been analyzed with the theoretical perspectives salutogenesis together with the theory Sense of Coherence (SOC). The result shows that PFA can add a salutogenic practice to a pathogenic treatment focused practice. PFA can also from what is said about PFA in the interview be considered to contribute with a cognitive focus where care takers are considered to do their best from their cognitive prerequisites. PFA is from the educators said to aim for compensation of difficulties and build on interest and strengths by adapting the environment. PFA can therefore with its cognitive focus be considered to add a cognitive perspective to behavioristic methods.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleA person’s identity in relation to mental illness, employment and the social environment is a complex social construction. A construction which is characterized by the view that a human develop its sense of the self in relation to other people in the social interaction, as the tradition for interaction theory suggests. In this study I relate to Erwing Goffman’s theory about ´Stigma´ and to Anselm L. Strauss’ theory about ´Identity´, with a special focus on ´turningpoints´ and ‘transitions in social positions´. The previous research shows that prejudice, stigma and discrimination associated with the phenomenon of mental illness are frequent in everyday life. Furthermore, there are negative attitudes toward sick-listed people and welfare recipients. This may in turn influence whether people who have or have had experience of mental illness succeed in getting and keeping a job in the Swedish Labour Market. The purpose of this paper is to examine how one’s subjective experience of identity is changing when getting an employment, when the person has experience of some kind of mental illness. It is therefore necessary to understand the importance as an employment may have for certain individuals. It is also necessary to understand the importance of social support and the responses from the social environment in the process of ´getting back´. The study’s empirical base is gathered through four semi-structured interviews of people who have had experiences of mental illness but also have kept an employment during a longer time. The method of Grounded Theory was used to analyze the empirical data. A construction which is characterized by the viewthat a human develop its sense of the self in relation to other people in the social interaction, as the tradition for interaction theory suggests. In this study I relate to Erwing Goffman’s theory about ́Stigma ́and to Anselm L. Strauss’theory about ́Identity ́, with a special focus on ́turningpoints ́ and ‘transitions in social positions ́. The previous research shows that prejudice, stigma and discrimination associated with the phenomenon of mentalillness are frequent in everyday life. Furthermore, there are negative attitudes toward sick-listed people and welfare recipients. This may in turn influence whether people who have or have had experience of mental illness succeed in getting and keeping a job in the Swedish Labour Market. The purpose of this paper is to examine how one’s subjective experience of identity is changing when getting an employment, when the person has experience of some kind of mental illness. It is therefore necessary to understand the importance as an employment may have for certain individuals. It is also necessary to understand the importance of social support and theresponses from thesocialenvironmentin the process of ́getting back ́. The study’s empirical base is gathered through four semi-structured interviews of people who have had experiences of mental illness but also have kept an employment during a longer time.The method of Grounded Theory was used to analyze the empirical data. Der volle Inhalt der QuelleDenna uppsats har som syfte att undersöka hur jag som förskolepedagog bemöter ett barn som jag anser har svårt för att hålla sig till förskolans regler och rutiner. Den tar sin utgångspunkt i tre olika situationer som berättar hur relationen mellan barnet och mig utspelade sig. Fokus ligger inte på barnet utan på mig som pedagog. Frågeställningen väcktes inom mig när jag själv upplevde ett barn som svårhanterlig på min avdelning men så fort barnet flyttades till en annan avdelning upplevdes han på ett helt annat sätt av andra pedagogerna som jobbade där. Syftet är att undersöka min roll som pedagog i allt detta. Jag ställer mig frågor om mitt eget uppförande samt på vilket sätt barnen kan ha blivit påverkade av det. Uppsatsens metod är essäskrivandet, ett verktyg jag använder för att kunna bearbeta de redan upplevda situationerna och i samtal med olika filosofer, psykologer och professorer i pedagogik kunna reflektera över dem. Jag reflekterar, bland annat, genom psykologen Albert Bandura kring miljö och människa och den ömsesidiga påverkan som de har på varandra, kring Foucaults maktanalysen för att förstå vilken roll makten spelar i relationer. Jag har också vänt mig till Vigotskijs teorier för att reflektera över hur den proximala utveckligzonen äger rum på förskolan även om vi inte märker den. De olika teorierna jag använde i reflektionen hjälpte mig att förstå mitt eget agerande. Jag har inte bara fått mer kunskap om olika teorier utan min förståelse har fördjupats. Det finns inte svåra barn, det svåra är att vara barn i en omgivning som präglas av okunskap, oförståelse och begränsade resurser.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe purpose of this study is to obtain an understanding of whether and how young adults, with foreign background, feel that their views of their ethnic identity have been affected by growing up in a society where they are both part of a majority and minority population. This study also seeks to examine whether and how their view of their ethnic identity has affected their relationship with their family. Qualitative methods were used in this study, in terms of one focus group interview and four individual interviews. The material has been analyzed based on sociological theories of ethnic identity. Based on the collected empirical data, and the analysis of the results, the conclusion is that the perception of ethnic identity depends highly on the situation. The majority of respondents express a sense of double identity, where they experienced two ethnic identifications. They then switch between these identities depending on what is most appropriate based on the current situation. Another conclusion is that the family seems to play a significant role in the individuals views of their ethnic identities.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and why companies choose to engage in such task is debated by many, both within the academy as well as outside it. There is however a disagreement in what is included in a company’s engagement in CSR activities. This study argues that current theories in use, are unable to explain the complex environment in which companies operate and therefore incapable of providing good answers to this study’s purpose, concerning how CSR is constructed. This study draws on the theory of institutional logics as a tool in exploring a company’s engagement in CSR in a complex environment and discourse theory in visualizing the meaning of CSR as well as its construction. Despite a great amount of research in institutional logics, this study departs from previous research in its exclusive use of CSR-reports, gathered from companies in the remarkable apparel industry, as sources of data.This study concludes that an apparel company´s engagement in CSR activities emanates from several, often contradictive, institutional logics that take form through numerous different pressures in the environment. The result of the study calls for a CSR that includes a moral stance where the companies perform philanthropic deeds, beyond the needs of their own business. Hereby, the study displays a discursive construction of CSR that is equally complex as the environments in which the companies operate, with numerous different yet parallel logics influencing. In answering the purpose, the study makes two contributions to the theory of institutional logics. In identifying the institutional logics, an entirely new institutional order is acknowledged. Lastly, in using CSR-reports in the analysis, this study shows how texts of organisation´s own making can be used in identifying institutional logics.Two implications can be made, the first being the power that different stakeholder of the company has in influencing the meaning of CSR and how they themselves are part of the process. Thus being able to drive change, as important components in an environment to which companies show great compliance. The second implication concerns the necessity in company’s consideration to a discourse of CSR that includes a moral dimension, comprising a commitment that goes beyond a vested interest for the business.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe overall aim in this essay is to highlight and describe the social support and social pressure, people on sick leave for burnout feel they experience by their environment, both in terms of being on sick leave and in terms of return to work. The survey was conducted using qualitative methodology, and six people being sick for burnout were interviexed individually. The result shows that people on sick leave for burnout are experiencing a complex mixture of both social pressure and social support in the process of returning to work. Social support, often in the form of understanding for the disease and avoidance of pressure, are mostly experienced by people in the individual's near environment, while the pressure usually is related to individuals and groups at longer distances. The strongest pressure to return to work was experienced from the "societal" norm "to do the right thing", but also lack of krowledge and lack of understanding were experienced as a pressure to return to work.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleTraffic systems designed to benefit car use causes major climate change challenges and one fourth of global carbon dioxide emissions can be derived from the transportation sector. Traditional approaches, in which physical infrastructure is the primary tool for reducing emissions from car mediated transportation, are not sufficient to achieve the ambitious environmental goals at global and national levels. Thus, new methods must be considered and one alternative is to study how changes in user behaviour can result in reduced car use and thereby contribute to sustainable transportation systems. Driving children to and from sports activities is often included as one of the reasons why families with children feel the need to have access to their own car in a greater extent than other population groups. The overall purpose of this degree project was to, with help from three sports associations in Swedish urban areas of varying size, analyse how driving of children is organized, which structures that support and which reduce the need for driving. The purpose was moreover to generate knowledge about how the individual shapes its travel behaviour based on its spatial and social environment. With the knowledge of this, the goal was to design planning strategies with the aim of reducing car mediated transportation. To achieve the purpose of the study, a combination of several methods was a prerequisite. The methods used in this study were a literature overview, a survey and interviews. The survey was sent to parents of the members of the sports associations and a categorization by driving behaviour was made based on their answers. Interviewees was selected from the categories, to provide qualitative data in a systematic way. The results of the study confirm the problem of driving children, which derives from the fact that a car is considered the most practical mean of transportation to and from sports activities. The study results also indicate that driving of children to sports activities is affected by a number of factors and that these differ between individuals, social and spatial contexts. Additionally, parents in the study demonstrate a potential to coordinate carpooling and thus aid the transition to more sustainable driving behaviour. In order for sport associations to be able to assist this type of behavioural change, a number of Mobility Management measures, inspired by the parents' proposals and the theories included in the literature overview, are presented.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis study sought to show how the compensatory mission is perceived, what is being compensated as well as which strategies are used and finally the prerequisites for the mission. Social context in relation to the compensatory mission has throughout the history of school been of importance and it is therefore a focal point in this study. Previous research showed that social context as well as language skills corresponds well to a student's school performance. The data collection method was semi structured interviews with a total of 18 teachers, special educators, headmasters and a headmaster of education, from nursery and preschool to high school. Data were also collected from three national school authorities and two officials. The theoretical framework included different perspectives such as intersectional, special education, sociocultural, salutogenic and habitus. According to the school law, the school ought to compensate for the different needs and prerequisites of the students. Despite the fact that the informants compensated for many things, in particular neuropsychiatric disabilities, an uncertainty concerning the mission arose since it was relatively unknown and was apprehended as interpretable. The prerequisites for the mission varied. The mayor obstacles for the mission seemed to be lack of communication regarding the mission and resources. The two officials were explicit concerning that it is the language that should be compensated for. The informants did not find the connections between social background and compensatory input or language clear. Nevertheless, they saw a coupling between social background and parents´ ability to support their children with homework or economic preconditions. One of the conclusions of the study was that the compensatory mission needs to be clarified and be discussed to a greater extent.

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe purpose of this study is to investigate, based on the Leadership Model definitions, whether the organizational conditions affect pluton managers' ability to execute a Developing Leadership. The survey was conducted as a qualitative study through interviews with platoon commanders at the Command and Control Regiment in Enköping. The results show that the environment affects leadership in both positive and negative directions at the same time. A circumstance that in one respect is a restriction is in another possibility. It is up to the leader to identify these opportunities and make use of them. Several of the key conclusions were found outside the purpose of the survey, and among other things, the biggest impact the pluton manager has on his leadership is found in the shortage of time to attend his subordinates. This impact is based on excessive workload and indirect consequences of the general staff shortage in the organization.
