Summary The effects of pornography have received increased scrutiny in the digital age. Several U.S. states have recently passed resolutions declaring pornography a public health crisis, and clients are increasingly seeking help for related concerns. Given the pornography debate encompasses micro and macro arenas, social workers have reason to be engaged. But there is a dearth of literature examining social workers' views on these issues. Given values play an integral role in informing attitudes about sexuality, we sought to better understand the role of religiosity in shaping social work students’ views on pornography via a web-based survey ( n = 136). Findings Results from a path analysis suggest highly religious students are more likely to believe pornography is a serious public health issue, and this relationship is mediated through their perception of pornography’s addictiveness. Applications That highly religious social work students are more likely to pathologize pornography has implications for policy advocacy and clinical social work practice. If highly religious social workers are more likely to rate pornography as addictive, they may be more likely to pathologize their clients' use of it. This is significant in that addiction is a heavy label that may harm clients. Our findings further speak to the importance of educating social work students and practitioners about reflexivity, not only in the context of individual practice but also in the macro practice arena. We argue that staying cognizant of their biases and utilizing a biopsychosocial perspective, social workers can bring a valuable perspective to the pornography debate.

In this article, we examine how religious leaders teach their followers to protect themselves and others from pornography. Based on archival materials from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS, LDS Church, or Mormons), we analyze how LDS leaders, responding to the expansion of pornographic influence over the past 40 years, facilitated moral opposition to pornography by teaching their followers to (1) set moral examples for others, (2) save their women, and (3) protect their children. In so doing, however, LDS leaders, regardless of their intentions, reproduced cultural and religious discourses that facilitate the subordination of women and sexual minorities. Likewise, these discourses suggest strong negative outcomes associated with pornography. In conclusion, we draw out implications for understanding the facilitation of moral opposition across religious traditions, and the consequences these actions may have for the reproduction or reduction of social inequality.

The research aims to identify the concept of social networking, as well as identifying the role of social networking in disseminating Islamic education and its sciences, Facebook as a model. It also aims at strategies for using social networking - Facebook - in disseminating Islamic education and its sciences. The research followed the descriptive method as the method used. The research is expected to conclude that social media networks have a great role in spreading Islamic education and its sciences, and that the networks have negatives, including pornography in images, speech, and sound, teaching intellectual extremism, sectarianism, and religious sects. The research suggests conducting further studies on the role of social media networks in disseminating Islamic education and its sciences. Holding seminars, conferences and workshops to highlight the role of social media networks in spreading Islamic education and its sciences. Raising awareness of strategies for using social networks to spread Islamic education and its sciences. Combating the negatives of using social media networks in particular and in Islamic education and sciences in general.

The article proves that prohibition, as well as the decriminalisation of pornography, is a resonant social issue. In addition to playing the role of a moral and ethical component of public life, it acts as a lever in the international political arena, and also touches upon some matters of financial income and tax revenue. EU legislation generally regards pornography as a phenomenon that does not pose a social or moral and ethical danger. It is noted that with the expiry of the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Public Morality”, the legal justification for a complete ban on pornography in Ukraine has also been lost. The logical continuation of the above legal changes is the revision of criminal legislation on pornography with due regard to the main trends of progressive legal development. The analysis of the information materials to the BRDO’s initiative draft law stipulates that the absence of a regulatory definition of “debauchery” and “place of debauchery” creates conditions under which criminal liability may be imposed on party organisers, hotel and nightclub owners or creators of pornographic materials. Based on this, the BRDO proposes to exclude Article 302 from the Criminal Code of Ukraine as a whole. The BRDO’s argument is indeed convincing. However, it does not take into account the risks of such crimes and offences as: pimping or involvement of a person in prostitution (Article 303 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); prostitution (Article 181-1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of Ukraine). In addition, if Article 302 is removed from the Criminal Code of Ukraine, its parts 3 and 4 will also be lost, which may reduce the protection of minors and young persons. In view of the above, we believe that it would be appropriate to amend the content of part 1 of Article 302 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as follows: “Article 302. Organisation of activities for places to provide paid sexual services and engage in prostitution Organisation and receipt of remuneration from the activities of places for the face-to-face provision of paid sexual services and prostitution – …”.

Due to the increasing trend in the use of pornography recorded in recent years, along with the decreasing age of its consumers, many studies have investigated its potential negative effects on adolescents, who are developing their social and sexual identity, often producing inconsistent results. With the present study, which is based on a large representative sample of Italian students attending public upper secondary schools, predictors as well as negative and positive effects of pornography use on adolescents’ attitudes, beliefs and well-being have been identified through a psychosocial approach. To achieve these results, the study involved a two-step analysis: first, the decision tree method for classification was applied to identify the main predictors of different frequencies in pornography consumption; subsequently, multinomial logistic regressions were carried out to detect the effects of pornography use. The results show a large difference between boys and girls in terms of frequency of pornography use, but also in the effects on adherence to gender roles, which is related to a still strongly stereotyped socialisation. Instead, similar negative effects on both girls and boys were found on self-esteem, body satisfaction, negative primary emotions and distress, suggesting the need for adequate sex education provided by both parents and schools to counteract taboos and blind internalisation of models of beauty and sexual behaviours provided by pornography.

Summary The application of an addiction framework to frequent sexual behavior and/or pornography viewing has increased significantly in recent years, particularly across North America. Herein, I refer to a multidisciplinary literature to explore critically whether or not application of an addiction framework is warranted. Findings The sex/pornography addiction model can be criticized based on the lack of quality scientific evidence to support it, sociocultural biases in interpreting sexual behavior, and assumptions involving diagnostic criteria. Applications While social workers should strive to help clients who desire to resolve various personal issues involving sexuality, workers should keep in mind that human sexuality is diverse and avoid using the addiction label.

The constant transition to the digital world is not simple or problem-free. Along with the remarkable progress in real time borderless communication and the broad and immediate access to any information, one cannot help but notice that delinquency and crime took their chances. Regulating cyberspace, due to its limitless nature, proved difficult and quite challenging for the lawmakers worldwide. Especially, the issue of child pornography has become one of the thorns of our times. Even though the involvement of children in pornography has been taking place for many years and in various forms, the issue only became controversial and it attracted the attention of our societies and legal regimes as soon as the Internet proliferated and software related inventions contributed in the manufacturing of child pornography. This proposal presents a brief introduction to cybercrime as defined by legal entities, addresses the controversial issue of real and virtual child pornography and proposes the involvement of social sciences in regulating the matter.

Objectives This study was conducted to explore ways to promote youth health through comprehensive verification of risk factors and protective factors as psychosocial factors affecting adolescents' immersion in pornography. Methods In order to conduct this study, data of 530 teenagers who have experienced pornography among the first graders of high school who participated in the fourth year surveyed by the Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) were used for the final analysis. The SPSS 21.0 program was used for analysis. Frequency analysis and descriptive statistical analysis were conducted to confirm the mean and standard deviation of the demographic characteristics and variables of the study subjects, and Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to diagnose multicollinearity. In addition, a hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to examine the risk and protection factors affecting adolescents' commitment to pornography. Results The main results of this study are summarized as follows. First, it was confirmed that the risk factor had a positive influence on adolescents' commitment to pornography. Specifically, it was confirmed that depression, aggression, social atrophy, family risk factors, neglect and abuse experiences strengthen adolescents' immersion in pornography. Second, it was confirmed that the protective factor had a negative influence on adolescents' commitment to pornography. Specifically, it was confirmed that self-elasticity, life satisfaction, and rational explanation, which is a family protection factor, weaken adolescents' commitment to pornography. Conclusions Based on these research results, a social welfare intervention plan for adolescents' immersion in pornography was proposed.

Pornography and porno-action occur because of modernization and globalization, impacting social life. Islam as an early doctrine serves to solve problems, so many verses of the Qur'an and hadith regulate clothing communication between men and women. Pornography and pornography in the perspective of Islamic law are prohibited; this is based on several verses in the Qur'an and several hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad, which expressly prohibit them. This is inseparable from the development of human culture. By conducting a literature review and qualitative approach, it was found that pornography damages religious morals and human morals and spreads to the human body itself, which will disrupt the human nervous coordination system controlled by the brain. This is difficult to stop because pornography is part of a commodity that generates billions of rupiahs. Sometimes pornography has also developed foreign exchange for countries that produce and trade it officially. Pornography can not only damage children's minds and mentality but can also be fatal for adult human brains. Keywords: Influence, pornography, health, fiqh

Male and female students and nonstudents were exposed to videotapes featuring common, nonviolent pornography or innocuous content. Exposure was in hourly sessions in six consecutive weeks. In the seventh week, subjects participated in an ostensibly unrelated study on societal institutions and personal gratifications. Marriage, cohabitational relationships, and related issues were judged on an especially created Value-of-Marriage questionnaire. The findings showed a consistent impact of pornography consumption. Exposure prompted, among other things, greater acceptance of pre- and extramarital sex and greater tolerance of nonexclusive sexual access to intimate partners. It enhanced the belief that male and female promiscuity are natural and that the repression of sexual inclinations poses a health risk. Exposure lowered the evaluation of marriage, making this institution appear less significant and less viable in the future. Exposure also reduced the desire to have children and promoted the acceptance of male dominance and female servitude. With few exceptions, these effects were uniform for male and female respondents as well as for students and nonstudents.

The article examines the relations between photography, body, nudity, and sexuality. It presents changing relations of photography with a naked or semi-naked body and different forms and recording conventions. From the mid-19th century the naked body became the subject of scientifically grounded photographic explorations, an allegorical motif referring to painting traditions, an object of interest and excitement for the newly-developed “touristic” perspective. These three main ways in which photographs depicting nudity were being taken at that time shaped three visual modes: artistic-documentary, ethnographic-travelling, and scientific-medical. It has deep cultural consequences, including those in the ways of shaping the notions of the corporeal and the sexual. Collaterally, one more, probably prevalent in numbers, kind of photographical images arose: pornographic. In the middle of the 19th century, the repertoire of pornographic pictures was already very wide, and soon it become one of the photographic pillars of visual imagination of the modern society, appealing to private and professional use of photography, popular culture, advertisement, art. The number of erotic and pornographic pictures rose hand over fist with the development of digital photography. Access to pornographic data is easy, fast, and cheap, thanks to the Internet, as it never was before. Photography has fuelled pornography, laying foundations for a massive and lucrative business, employing a huge group of professional sex workers. How all those processes affected our imagination and real practices, what does the staggering number of erotic photography denote? One possible answer comes from Michel Foucault who suggests that our civilization does not have any ars erotica, but only scientia sexualis. Creating sexual discourse became an obsession of our civilization, and its main pleasure is the pleasure of analysis and a constant production of truth about sex. Maybe today the main pleasure is about watching technically registered images, and perhaps that is why we may consider visual redefinition of the body as the main social effect of the invention of the photography.

This study aims to identify the relationship between six factors of negative behavior and gratification in using the internet among 440 Malaysian youth by collecting data via survey. The theory applied is the uses and gratification theory (U&G). The results revealed no meaningful relationship between the gratification of using the internet and pornography, online gambling, alcohol, and drug usage. However, there was a significant positive relationship between the gratification of internet use, social isolation, and internet addiction.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, where almost all human activities have turned online, social media platforms have become a huge force. Through interactions on social media, internet users can establish nearly unlimited relationships without being limited by distance and time. As a result, with all activities carried out online, cyber gender-based violence, one of which is non-consensual pornography, has increased dramatically. Therefore, efforts are needed to combat this case. This effort is carried out by further reviewing how law enforcement is carried out against perpetrators of non-consensual pornography crimes. This article aims to examine the handling and government policies in eradicating non-consensual pornography. This study was structured using normative juridical research method, by analyzing existing data and reviewing these data. The result of this study is that the regulations that have been in force are considered not to have a victim perspective and are comprehensive. There are still many pornography law enforcement officers who are incompetent. Thus, the ratification of RUU PKS is believed to be the main way to provide legal certainty and provide justice for victims.

This pilot study evaluated the feasibility of an acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) self-help program for problematic pornography viewing (PV). A sample of 19 adults seeking help for problematic PV was recruited in an open trial. Participants reported adequate program acceptability, although only 45% of those completing postassessment read at least half of the self-help book. Significant improvements on problematic PV and cognitive fusion were found over the 8-week intervention period, with effects sustaining at 8-week follow-up. Participants who read more improved more on PV problems and psychological inflexibility. Overall, an ACT self-help approach appears feasible and potentially efficacious for PV.

Annotation:
This essay examines reactionary, countersubversive fictions produced in the context of two conspiracy theories in the United States: the Illuminati crisis (1798–1800) and Pizzagate (2016–17). The author suggests that both cases emblematize a pornotropic aesthetic, a racialized sadomasochism that recurs across United States culture. Building on the work of Hortense Spillers, Alexander Weheliye, Jennifer Christine Nash, and others, this essay argues that observers should understand countersubversive political reaction as an aesthetic project, a pornotropic fantasy that distorts underlying conditions of racial subjection. In the context of a resurgent far right that describes its enemies as “cuckolds” and frequently deploys the tropes of highly racialized pornography, this essay suggests that we might find the deep origins of pornographic, reactionary paranoia in the eighteenth century. It suggests, moreover, that understanding and contesting the underlying conditions of racial subjection require that scholars consider the power of pornotropic, countersubversive aesthetics to bring pleasure, to move people, and to order the world.

This article considers data from a large empirical study of nearly 1,100 U.K. adolescents aged 11 to 16 (in a mixed methods three-stage sample) and provides an overview of their experiences of online adult pornography. The article investigates how seeing online pornography influenced those who watched it, and to what degree, if any, the attitudes of those adolescents altered with repeat viewings. It concludes with an overview of the social policy challenges, both domestic and international, posed by the findings.
