Czech hop varieties are evaluated as part of maintenance breeding. Every year, this evaluation includes ten mother plants of each hop variety. Yield is determined in kilograms of fresh hops per plant. The t-test is used to determine significance. Results from the years 2014–2019 show that Gaia and Kazbek have the highest yield (3.17 kg/plant and 3.05 kg/plant, respectively). Their yield is higher than that of the Harmonie, Agnus, Bohemie, Premiant, Sládek, Boomerang and Saaz varieties. Saaz has the lowest hop yield, i.e. 1.85 kg/plant. Bor, Saaz Late, Saaz and Sládek show the lowest variability, which ranges between 20.56 and 20.58%. Gaia has the highest variability (34.33%). Gaia also has the highest alpha acid content (12.30%) with a probability of 95% to 99%. Vital and Boomerang have a higher alpha acid content than other Czech hop varieties (11.09% and 10.81%, respectively) with a probability of 99%. Saaz Late (3.42%) and Saaz (3.06%) have the lowest alpha acid content with a probability of 95% to 99%. The variability of alpha acid content is considerably lower than the hop yield variability. Rubín has the lowest year-on-year variability of all Czech varieties (4.81%). Vital and Gaia have a very low variability (5.63% and 5.72%, respectively). A higher variability of alpha acid content was found in Saaz Late, Premiant, Agnus, Saaz, Kazbek, Bor and Harmonie, ranging between 8.01% and 10.21%.

This study quantifies the effects of weather conditions, irrigation, and plant age on yield and alpha-acids content of Czech hop cultivars Saaz, Sládek, Premiant and Agnus in a 25-year long period, i.e., from 1993 to 2018. The yields of Czech hop cultivars were increasing for the first three years of plant age until they stabilized and then started to decline slightly for 15 to 20 years until they reached the optimal time for replanting. The highest alpha-acids content in hop cones was achieved in the first year of cultivation, followed by a logarithmic decline in the upcoming years. Rainfall was the most significant factor that positively influenced the yield of Saaz hops with correlations of r = 0.59 and 0.61 (P < 0.01) for total seasonal rainfall (April–August), 0.65 (P < 0.001) and 0.60 (P < 0.01) for daily rainfall above 3 mm, 0.37 (P < 0.05) and 0.58 (P < 0.01) for rainfall in May and 0.50 (P < 0.01) and 0.32 (P < 0.05) in July in the Saaz region and the Stekník farm, respectively. The yield of cultivars Sládek, Premiant and Agnus was not statistically influenced by the amount of precipitation, but there was a positive effect of irrigation level on yield increase with correlations 0.58 (P < 0.01), 0.55 and 0.49 (P < 0.05), respectively. High air temperatures during summer were the most significant factor that negatively influenced the alpha-acids content with the correlations ranging from –0.56 to –0.83. However, cv. Agnus showed a stable weather-independent alpha-acids content.

The aim of the thesis was to determine if the substrate treatment with temperature lower than 100°C could replace the sterilization at 120°C. Another task was to compare different types of substrates and supplements. For the substrate treatment were selected temperatures of 90°C for 48 hours, 90°C for 20 hours, 121°C for 2 hours, 80°C for 20 hours and 70°C for 24 hours. The treatment with temperature lower than 100°C could replace the sterilization at 120°C. In the experiments were used substrates compound of beech sawdust or straw pellets supplemented by wheat bran or wheat groats. The research was also focused to influence of substrate fermentation on growth characteristics of Hericium erinaceus. The most suitable substrate for mycelium growth and subsequent fructification of Hericium erinaceus were beech sawdust. Faster mycelial growth and higher yield of fruiting body were achieved in the case of supplemented substrate of sawdust beech by wheat bran or wheat groats. There were observed no effects of fermentation substrates on mycelium growth of Hericium erinaceus. Another part of the research was dedicated to mycelium growth and fructification of Hericium coralloides. The best substrate for Hericium coralloides is beech sawdust without supplements.

The waste from agricultural and food industry are accessible in large quantity anywhere in the whole world nowadays. Most of these wastes include cellulose (30 - 40 %), hemicellulose (20 - 40 %) and lignine (10 - 20 %). Therefore these waste materials have wide use as the substrates for the microbial growth and the production of the enzymes. The microorganisms are able to use organic compounds from the wastes as the source of energy for the growth and carbon for synthesis of cellular biomass [24]. Wheat and rice straw are possible to use as the substrates for cultivation of the microorganisms and following production of the enzymes. In this thesis the utilization of the wastes from food industry for the production of the enzymes by the microorganisms was studied. We observed utilization of wheat straw as source of energy for growth of tested microorganisms and investigated their ability for the production of oxidoreductase (laccase). The optimalization of growth conditions of Aureobasidium pullulans was proceeded. Further the activity of laccase was studied. Milled wheat straw was used as the substrate. The cultivation was done in the thermoregulator at the temperature of 27°C. The activity of laccase was not found in this thesis. Petri dishes were contaminated by three unknown microoganisms during optimalization of growth of Aureobasidium pullulans. One of them produced laccase in cultivation with straw.

The specified fuel is cereal straw with a calorific value of 9.5 MJ/kg. As the interface between the body and technology, in all of its myriad forms, the skeletal hand morphology of Late Pleistocene humans has received increasing attention since the work of Sarasin (1932) and especially Musgrave (1970, 1971, 1973), as paleoanthropologists have documented a series of contrasts between archaic Homo and recent human hand bones (e.g., Vlček 1975; Trinkaus 1983b; Vandermeersch 1991; Niewoehner et al. 1997; Niewoehner 2001, 2008; Crevecoeur 2008; Lorenzo 2007; Trinkaus in press). However, since there were major changes in human technology between the Middle and Upper Paleolithic, and especially with the Mid Upper Paleolithic (MUP), the comparisons of concern should be between late archaic humans and early modern humans. For the Early Upper Paleolithic, the latter include relatively complete hand remains from Nazlet Khater 2 and scattered hand bones from Tianyuan 1 and Brassempouy (Henry-Gambier et al. 2004; Crevecoeur 2008; Shang and Trinkaus 2010). There are then relatively abundant hand remains from the MUP (Verneau 1906; Matiegka 1938; Mallegni et al. 1999; Sládek et al. 2000; Trinkaus 2006c; Trinkaus et al. 2010, 2014), including some immature ones (Mallegni and Parenti 1973; Sergi et al. 1974; Trinkaus et al. 2002b). Yet few of them have been described in detail. In this context, the Sunghir manual remains are described and select aspects are compared across Late Pleistocene samples (principally features that appear to change with the emergence of modern humans). For these descriptions and comparisons, the Sunghir 1 hand bones are paleontologically well preserved. Of the 54 bones potentially present for Sunghir 1 (not counting pollical sesamoid bones), 49 are known, and none sustained more than minor marginal erosion. The originally missing bones include one pisiform bone and four distal phalanges from the ulnar digits. During and after excavation, the right and left hands were mixed, so that the bones have been sorted based on morphology and (for the ulnar middle and distal phalanges) size.

The Sunghir humans retain exceptionally complete pedal remains, especially for Sunghir 1 but also in large part for Sunghir 2 and 3 (chapter 4). The Sunghir 1 pedal remains articulate into two quite complete pedal skeletons, principally missing the middle and distal phalanges of the lesser toes. The Sunghir 2 and 3 pedal skeletons are similarly complete, although the toes were pointed upwards in situ, resulting in considerable loss of the pha­langes (chapters 3 and 4). However, given the thin cortical bone over their trabecular tarsal and epiphyseal cores, the bones are substantially more eroded than those of Sunghir 1. The assessments for the two immature pedal skeletons are primarily in terms of discrete traits, those that appear to have already been formed by their ages-at-death. There is also a dearth of comparative data for similarly aged Middle and Upper Paleolithic pedal remains, known principally for the early adolescent Paglicci 12 (Mallegni & Parenti 1973). However, there are extensive osteometric and discrete trait data available for mature pedal remains from Middle Paleolithic and Early/Mid Upper Paleolithic (E/MUP) human foot bones, largely following the Martin system but expanded and modified (e.g., Matiegka 1938; McCown and Keith 1939; Trinkaus 1975a, 1975b, 1983a, 1983b; Vandermeersch 1981; Sládek et al. 2000; Trinkaus et al. 2006a; Shang and Trinkaus 2010). Therefore, a number of aspects of the Sunghir 1 pedal remains are compared graphically and in terms of trait frequencies to Late Pleistocene comparative samples, as well as to background samples of recent humans. The proportions of the pedal skeleton can be of relevance for the biomechanical effectiveness of the foot during forward and/or upward propulsion. In a static model, in which the body is being raised by elevation of the heel, and by extension the tibia through the talocrural articulation, the fulcrum is at the metatarsal heads (especially of metatarsal 1). This applies to climbing and to forward propulsion of the body on a level or upward slope.
